Following on from the February thread.

Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

@AwomanfromNorthampton I do something very similar. I do fab until I decide I've earned a treat day then that becomes a weekend, I've not eaten everything by Monday so now it's a treat week and before I know it I've had a treat year. @LemonDrizzle23 glad to hear I'm not alone in this hopefully we can motivate each other😅

Welcome newcomers and happy March to all!
Reporting a minuscule loss from the start of February. Onwards!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/03/2024 08:05

Good morning all! Checking in for March.

A measly 2lb down since the beginning of March, but that bloat I reported yesterday follow my unhealthy time away with work is already falling away (1.5lb lighter than yesterday), so after a challenging month I'm ok with that. My clothes are looser, I feel better and I'm moving in the right direction so all good.

Good luck to everyone for March. Empathy with those who sabotage themself with the treats, I am very much the same if I don't stay disciplined and track the odd takeaway, wine etc., before I know it, one treat meal has turned into a treat week.

Welcome to the new joiners. @MarigoldBloom I hope you find some inspiration from the thread. Why not weigh yourself today and set yourself a mini goal for March? 5 stone would seem insurmountable to anyone. How about half a stone?

Today's menu:

B protein bagel and 2 x turkey rashers
L not sure, but there'll be soup in the freezer and plenty of fruit, so probably that
D home made chilli and rice.

S not sure, but DH away so I'm going to try and avoid a sofa and snack slump and find myself something productive to do for the evening.

E Les Mills Strength class. My 4-week stretch plan tailed off so might re-start that today.

LemonDrizzle23 · 01/03/2024 08:10

Officially the start of the new month! It's pouring down and very cold and windy here - lovely... Very glad that February is officially over however.

Intermittent fasting worked for me when I did it consistently towards the end of Feb, so consistency with that is my March goal.

@0rganisedchaos we can motivate each other! My aim is to use our gym's outdoor pool this summer, and enjoy the sun, rather than hiding away in the main pool.

PatienceOfEngels · 01/03/2024 08:25

talkingdeadscot · 01/03/2024 08:35

Just checking in hoping to find my enthusiasm for March. Thanks for the thread @TheRealHousewife

Gemstonebeach · 01/03/2024 08:48

@MarigoldBloom welcome to the thread! I’m in NZ so we just have wonky box here (which has just expanded to the South Island) or you can get odd bunch bags of veg and fruit at one of the supermarkets. Lots of other veggie box providers though, just not in the wonky/odd space. I have been really enjoying the organic meat from the butchers, I do feel you can taste the difference.

TheRealHousewife · 01/03/2024 09:15

Good Morning & Happy Mindful March!

Sharing the Action For Happiness calendar. As we all know our mental health is very much entwined with weigh loss and weight gain. ❤️

Welcome to the thread @ToddlerMumma & @MarigoldBloom . You’re in safe hands; The women on these threads are inspiring, motivational and supportive! A simply lovely group of peeps!

Menu
Meal 1 - Mackerel on GF bread. Pecans. Apple.
Meal 2 - Chicken stir fry (crispy fried)
Tea, black coffee with inulin, water with acv.

Exercise
Session 1 - Yoga
Session 2 - Hand weights

March (and April) are the countdown to summer and the warmer months. Holidays are on the horizon and with that comes family get together and celebrations. Imagine how you’d like to look and feel (being realistic with the time frame) and set your intentions on how to achieve it. Small adjustments here and there do add up to progress. Personally I believe I’m the slowest loser ever 😬 Underactive thyroid, a disability, 5ft on a good day together with not being as young as I was has made weight loss harder … but not impossible. The one piece of advice I’d give is don’t give up. You gain, carry on; you stayed the same, carry on; you’re not losing fast enough, carry on. Just keep going. Over the last 7 years I’ve lost in excess of 50lbs. I’ve gone from 12st 7lbs to 8st 12lbs. If I’d just given up I’d be much heavier than my start weight.

@MarigoldBloom realistically I need to lose 5st too. I weighed in at just over 15st on 1st January. I agree it seems insurmountable so I've set myself goals of 7lb at a time and am celebrating each milestone. I have almost lost my first stone (current loss of 12lbs) and I'm feeling really good about it. It still means I'm very overweight but if I'd done nothing I'd still be putting on weight and heavier than ever. So overall, I feel good!

As others have said, checking in on these threads keeps me accountable and motivated. I don't feel alone in my journey and everyone is so lovely and supportive (so thank you @TheRealHousewife and everyone that posts here for the threads!)

The past couple of days have been really mad at work and I've ended up not eating lunch as I've been so busy.....which would have been unthinkable before! I don't normally eat breakfast anyway so I'm thinking of trying OMAD (one meal a day) for the three days a week I'm in the office to see if mixing things up helps. It means I'm eating a normal dinner with the family and DDs don't necessarily see that I'm dieting. I don't want them to have the issues with food that I have.

Tonight's dinner is chicken jalfrezi and I'm really looking forward to it.

LegoTherapy · 01/03/2024 09:44

Wise words @TheRealHousewife.
I'm restarting mfp and have my breakfast logged. I'd got out of the habit and therefore was able to mainline biscuits this past week and not see the effects on my daily intake apart from the lack of scale movement of course.
It was a cold and very wet walk school run today with sleet coming in at a painful angle.
Must remember water. I've not been good lately with that.

Newname2308 · 01/03/2024 11:02

Glad to join the March thread ☺️ Still not attacking this with enough vigour but have a comfortable routine of IF 1-9ish, booze only 2 evenings a week, takeaway coffee & treat once a week, I’m vegan anyway so just trying to increase pulses/tofu and decrease reliance on veggie sausages (and delicious vegan cakes/pastries 🤣) etc etc. Not doing any exercise currently, but am starting a new job soon which will give me active travel options 👍

SW 70kg
29/2 62.9kg
TW 60kg, then 56kg is the dream
Waist 31”, no change there since I started measuring.

ImALittlePea · 01/03/2024 11:33

Oh my goodness!! Thank EVERYTHING it's now March, right?! I know we all felt just how dreary and difficult Jan/Feb were this year (more so than normal for me - anyone else?!), but we're racing towards spring now - time to refresh, reset, breathe ❤️

I've had an insanely busy week, hence my absence from the Feb thread, but for the first time in a while it was a good busy. I've got a bit of bounce back. Managed two classes, some very busy shifts, and seeing some friends I don't often get to see. I have read the last few pages though and wow - you lot are incredible. It's been a tough few weeks but the support for each other is palpable, and inspiring.

As for my WoF - meh 😅 I forgot to write my weight down last week but I think I'm a couple of oz up. I'm slightly up from the start of Feb. I didn't feel too bad about my consumption this week, but on reflection I have eaten out a few times which has mostly involved bread/crisps/cheese/wine, so it's actually ok. I've had some unexpected compliments about how I look lately, so I think my commitment to classes is starting to show in my shape? Just need the numbers to catch up now!

I have four (maybe five?) weeks left until my birthday, time to knuckle down! At the start of this week I had a few dinners of baked chicken, sweet potato and greens - really filling and delicious. So more of that this week. I really need to eliminate bread as much as I can, and get some more filling soups to have for lunch as I've fallen out of love with my cup-a-soup specials 😥

I've got a good feeling about this month ladies 😊

whyisitstillsocold · 01/03/2024 12:00

I'm in !

Aim is to lose a minimum of 7lbs (half a stone) by end of March. I have already given up bread, crisps, cakes, processed food, most alcohol and anything else with lots of sugar. I still have a square of dark chocolate every now and then. I am eating lots of salad, veg, meat & fish. Doing a lot of running.

I admit it is as BORING AS HELL food wise as I like the hand-to-mouth of snacking and I am used to snacking just due to boredom. But I'm not specifically craving or missing anything. The running helps a lot with my mental health.

I'm around 10lbs down since I started beginning of Feb.

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 01/03/2024 12:18

Hi everyone, thanks for setting up the new thread @TheRealHousewife.
I'm feeling a renewed sense of determination today. I managed to stick to plan yesterday for the first time in a while.

B Porridge with flax seeds, blueberry powder, raspberries and strawberries
L Lentil bolognese, cashews
D Mexican egg rolls and crispy kale, protein yoghurt
S Highlights, frothy coffee

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/03/2024 12:36

I am loving reading about everyone's determination to reset for March!

WeirdPookah · 01/03/2024 19:28

@MarigoldBloom I've lost just over 60lbs in the last year, it is a mountain when you look at it as a total, I still have just about that to go again. But you have to decide to begin somewhere and see what happens.

I did a short Joe Wicks HIIT before cleaning today, then decided at school pick up time it was only raining a little, so went on a short walk as well.

B: porridge with cocoa, prunes and cashew butter.
L: peppers, spring onions, fried eggs
D: bulgerwheat/quinoa with paprika spiced beans/onions, veggie sausage

I am going to try and be on track tomorrow, have a party to go to at farm park in the afternoon, hoping to not sink in too much mud. But Sunday is lunch out, for Mothers Day.

@FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain where did you find all that? Seems American from some of the things and I'd be surprised if the average American woman is only 144 lbs and the average male whatever it claims. Fascinating stuff though and I'm amused that I weigh the amount of the trash I throw away plus a Chihuahua 🤣 and have lost a koala and a human brain 🤣🤣🤣 love it!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/03/2024 20:31

Love that list! Been very on track today and did an exercise class. No wine in the house so that'll keep me on track for this evening!

Honestly no idea, found the list years ago, possibly on MyFitnessPal forums and kept it because it makes me smile to equate what I've lost to something silly 😀

I'm at the 120 eggs stage!

MarigoldBloom · 01/03/2024 22:26

Blimey @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain , that's an eclectic list Grin depressingly in comparison terms, I think I need to lose the equivalent of my DTS1, and he's 8 now...

LemonDrizzle23 · 02/03/2024 07:54

Love that list @FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain !

Happy weekend everyone. What are your plans for a healthy weekend? This is prime time for spoiling everything for me! So I'm trying to be more consistent over the weekends.

Today: IF, gym this afternoon, takeaway Pho for dinner.
Sunday: IF, house walk / body project work out and pulled pork and corn, as family coming over for dinner.
Lunch both days will probably be egg related. And lots of rugby will be watched!

Have some work to do, so not sure I'll get my steps in, but I shall try.

EndlessGuineaPigCycle · 02/03/2024 09:00

Sounds like a good weekend plan @LemonDrizzle23.

I booked a last minute theatre trip this afternoon with my eldest DD, really looking forward to it but will need to resist the usual temptations of a glass of wine and snacks.

I am going out for dinner with friends tomorrow, I've already decided on a healthier option from the menu, just need to stick to it.

Other than that, I'll be taking my youngest DD to her swimming lesson tomorrow and doing some batch cooking.

grumpypug · 02/03/2024 09:05

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. Been a prolific yo-yo dieter over the last few year but need to get on top of it for good now. I've got about 4 and a half stone to lose (to take me to the top end of healthy weight).

I'm a daily weigher as I become obsessed. I snack far too much, that's my downfall as I eat quite healthy meals overall. I don't really drink, may have a couple if we are out out.

I've read the thread and will update my weight on a Wednesday.

CW: 14st 7lb
Target: 10st
