Following on from the February thread.

Spring is right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now maintaining around 8st 12lb; although I’d like to see another half stone off 😬

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes

Weighing in today as going for a meal tonight and I have a feeling that the scales will not be kind to me on Wednesday 🫣

SW: 17st 10
CW: 16st 2
GW: 10st 10
Total Loss: 22lbs

Not too shabby, 1lb down from last Wednesday but no doubt this will turn into a maintain next week. Onwards and upwards!

HighlandCowRose · 25/03/2024 20:56

Weigh day for me today,

Sw 15st 5lb
Cw 13.10.4lb
This week 3 lb
Total loss 22 lb

dd came home from uni Saturday for Easter, so good to see her. Treated ourselves to a Chinese takeaway for dinner. I was hoping not gain this week, really happy with 3lb off.
I've lost just over half the weight I'm aiming to lose, feels good to be half way.

B Seeded bread with houmous
L Tomato soup, seeded bread, banana
D Salad with soya 'beef' strips, houmous
S Fairy cake (made with dd10 this afternoon)
Crisps and wine.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 25/03/2024 21:12

Half way through @HighlandCowRose that's fantastic!

I've lost 24lb and another 60lb to go so that finish line is still looking a bit distant but 2lb will see me leaving the 200lb + bracket which I'm looking forward to!

maybein2022 · 25/03/2024 21:28

Hi all, have been trying to post on here for ages but life has just got in the way! Been doing ok, had a gain as I posted about after a long weekend away, then a good loss, then a small gain following 4 days of birthday celebrations, but still overall lost 22lb since 1st Jan and 4st 4lb total so feeling positive! Still avoiding UPF as much as possible as I definitely think it’s what’s (mostly!) keeping me on track and I am still Diet Coke free after nearly 3 months which is a big deal for me! Hope everyone is doing ok.

HighlandCowRose · 25/03/2024 21:30

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain

Thank-you, its physiologically huge to leave the 200's, I keep trying to find mini goals to help me, I've been really struggling to keep going lately.

We must be similar weights at the moment but you must be trying to go much further than me, if I get to goal I'll still be in the overweight category but know from past experience I struggle at lower weights.

🤞🏻 for those 2lbs for you this week

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 25/03/2024 21:30

Well done @maybein2022 I might be more impressed with your resistance to Diet Coke than the huge weight loss if I'm honest! No way I'm taking that step any time soon, caffeine is the only thing that keeps me moving some days 😂

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 25/03/2024 21:34

@HighlandCowRose

I'm not 100% sure on the overall goal. I did one of those calculators that said the ideal weight for my height is around 10st. Now I was 11stone by the time I was 11 years old so I've never been an adult human being as small as 10st and have no idea how that will look or feel in my frame. So I'll play it by ear a bit.

I have ALL the goals, and track everything in my super-spreadsheet

HighlandCowRose · 25/03/2024 21:35

Well done maybein2022 re the diet coke.

It's really hard to let go of our crutches 🙌

HighlandCowRose · 25/03/2024 21:46

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain
Oh my god, I have complete spread sheet envy.

I've yo-yo ed alot over the years, not getting as light as my 'ideal' weight for years. In fact it would be 20 years ago I was in the healthy weight bracket but I was miserable, I was eating such tiny amounts and if I deviated at all from my daily routine of porridge, sandwich, yogurt, steamed veg & fish at all I'd gain weight. I wasn't happy like that so I've accepted that I'd rather be a bit fat and enjoy food and life than trying to fit into some box of what I'm 'meant' to weigh.

43ontherocksporfavor · 25/03/2024 21:54

Hi all. I came on a couple of weeks ago. Found it hard to find my groove and know how I was going to achieve the loss I want. I am a week into being in the zone. I’m normally pretty good once in ‘the zone’ so my version is: 18:6 plus upping protein as part of a Mediterranean diet and I’ve started running again which I haven’t done for a couple of years. O want to eat a normal meal with family in the evening so this works for me.
Today:
L @ 12 pm - one boiled egg with salad, one apple, one pear.
Snack @4 pm- 30g berries warmed and 10 almonds.
D @ 6- grilled soy and ginger salmon with brown rice stirfry.
Exercise- 5 k run( 70% run,30% walk)
Will weigh on Wednesday.
SW:10st 7 bmi 24.6
TW: 9st 10 bmi 22.4
I’m 53 and this is my highest weight outside of pregnancy. 10st 2 has been my highest so thanks menopause!!

PatienceOfEngels · 26/03/2024 10:11

Still trying to get back in the groove! Haven't caught up on thread so hope everyone's well.

DH got me an audiobook I've been wanting for ages so now only listening to it when walking which is getting me off the sofa for an evening walk after DC bedtime (and in the mornings on my day off after drop off). Have also been able to get out in the garden for a few hours each day which has done me the world of good.

Upped my water.

Taking time to do my pf exercises and stretch out my hips in the evening as that's where I tend to hold my stress.

Making an effort to stay off my phone after 8pm which in practice means me and DH falling asleep in front of the TV (both so tired atm and can't get through an hour TV episode without one or both of us falling asleep!).

Managed to stay off the crisps at the weekend which was a huge victory 💪. Had some popcorn instead (popped myself 😉). Have been craving sweet stuff the last week and made some cinnamon buns with cream cheese icing which were so delicious. Takeaway on Saturday (DC birthday treat).

Weight creeping down. Just trying to focus on relaxing and feeling good about myself.

HighlandCowRose · 26/03/2024 21:20

I've been wondering if I've been eating too little, this may be entirely wishful thinking on my part but I realised today that weeks where I feel like I'm going to struggle I've had a good weight loss. Pondering this without going mad.

B Seeded toast with houmous x2
L Wrap, strawberries
D Pesto spaghetti with smoked tofu & asparagus
S dd fairy cake, crisps, wine

Rewis · 27/03/2024 06:34

PatienceOfEngels · 27/03/2024 07:16

WOW -0.2kg this week. Still doesn't feel like a lot but that's -0.4kg in the last 2 weeks (even though I started the month at -0.3kg on what I am now!!!!).

CW 70.3kg

Keeping on going with: whole foods/no sugar as much as possible, daily walk to podcast, plenty of water and herbal tea, cut evening eating, do stretching exercises every day for hips/pf, no devices past 8pm.

Very light here in the mornings and evenings now and feeling a shift ni the air for Spring.

Hoolahoophop · 27/03/2024 08:53

Can I join for your weigh in Wednesdays?

Today I weighed in at 57.3kg
Started just over a week ago at 58.5kg
Target 50kg

I've started running at least twice a week, hoping to increase that once the kids are back at school after Easter. Trying some Pilates but missed yesterday, just a basic 10 routine off my Garmin. I walk my commute about 5k round trip and if I'm not too busy then I will take a walk at lunch.

I was going to try 5:2 but haven't managed to get as low at 800 cal once yet.
Aiming for 1000 or less 2-3 week days 1300 the other week days then more out of control 1800 max at the weekend. So average of 1350 intake per week. Unfortunately my TDEE is 1382 so I am pretty much relying on exercise calories and it will take a while.

Skipped breakfast today
King prawn biryani (M&S yellow sticker) for lunch 400cal
Meatballs in tomato Sause and pasta for dinner 600cal

If I can stick to that then its a 1000 cal day which I was hoping for today and tomorrow.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 27/03/2024 15:14

Just a quick post to say no change for me this week, but it wasn't a surprise.

Today's menu

B - boiled egg with seeded toast
L - lentil & bacon soup, portion of cooked chicken, pear
D - lentils with carrot and pork or cod. I can't remember which...

No snacks so far and will do a Pilates/strength class tonight.

NothingTraLaLa · 27/03/2024 15:44

I’ve lost my motivation the past few weeks and I’m finding myself almost sabotaging my efforts with puddings and the like. Fortunately it’s not translated into too much weight gain so far, but if I continue in this vein I’m sure it will.

I’m wondering if it’s because I’m close to target and it’s making me complacent. It was only an interim target anyway, so I’m lowering it by a few pounds to my actual target which is 8 stone and see if that helps me get back on it.

SW 128 lbs
CW 116.6 lbs
TW 112 lbs

Rewis · 27/03/2024 16:53

The most ironic part of weight gajn and weightloss. I've had to buy bigger jeans. They are too big but my belt is not big enough to go around me 😅

talkingdeadscot · 27/03/2024 20:47

Late WOW but I'm here!

SW (June 2023) - 93kg
First Goal - 72kg (achieved Christmas 2023)
GW - 55kg
CW - 65.5kg

That's a loss of 0.5kg for me this week after staying the same last week. More or less recovered from my op so walking a bit more. I'm pretty sure that as I've lost 27.5kg with just over 10kg to go my body's hanging on to my weight for dear life. My brain still hasn't caught up either which is weird.

I'll just plod on though, what other option is there? To be honest, it's been so long since I started that I no longer crave crap food and my medication means I can't drink either. Still waiting for a bit of Spring sunshine, I'm sure it's on it's way....

LumionaMoonsplash · 27/03/2024 22:41

A bit late to the party and 1lb down this week into the next stone bracket which has cheered me up. Suffering from bad insomnia over the last week or so, the constant tiredness has made me lose my appetite. Unfortunately I don't have the energy to exercise either. I hope it clears up soon, I need my sleep but happy to celebrate my little win 🏆.
My fridge is full of nutritious whole foods that I'm really enjoying.

SW: 15st
CW: 12st 13
Next half st: target 12st 7
