Is anyone in the same situation?

I've put on a couple of kg over Christmas and haven't really got my head back in the normal eating game yet 😬

So my starting weight is 66.2kg. I'm aiming to get back under 64kg.

I love working out and walking, so exercise isn't an issue. It's just the snacking that needs to reduce! Hopefully posting here will help me.

@7poundstogo completely agree with this. I bounce around too, but as long as the general trajectory is down I know I'm on the right track.

9 2 bang on this morning, but unavoidable pub tea tonight and a curry tomorrow night so fully expect to be at least a pound up early next week but will keep on keeping on.

I like having this thread to navel gaze about it as wouldn't dream of sharing this with anyone in RL, sounds utterly obsessive.

MoonieDoo · 02/03/2024 18:00

Sorry for the late reply @chocolaterevs ! I'm eating squash or pumpkin soup a few times a week, shakshouka is really good so long as you can curb the amount of dipping bread!

For work I'm opening a tin of butterbeans and a tin of lentils and rinsing them together, and making a salad with dressing and any salad veg I can find. It's about 250 cals. Skipping breakfast mainly and going for a banana and then a really early lunch.

It sounds bloody awful now I write it down, but I feel so much better on the beans and lentils rather than a sandwich I actually crave them after a few days off.

7poundstogo · 02/03/2024 18:06

😄yes I totally agree!

I do find I can't achieve anything unless I get a bit obsessive about it. I just want to be strong again! I've upped my protein as I'm keen to build strength - I'm not aiming to be thin - I just want to be able to get in and out the car without making noises and, a personal one, be able to open my kitchen window without pulling muscles!

@CheesecakeandCrackers maybe take some measurements if you've got a tape measure. The walking is probably building your thighs in new (good) places and trimming your waist - so the lack of change in weight is likely still going in the right direction, you might just be getting stronger 💪

CheesecakeandCrackers · 02/03/2024 21:37

Thank you @7poundstogo I hope you're right. I will measure tomorrow.

I do similar for lunch @MoonieDoo I buy lentils vertes from tesco and cook a batch to use for salads through the week, I really like them!

MoonieDoo · 03/03/2024 17:43

You're more dedicated than me @CheesecakeandCrackers. I sprout them all through summer but I can't be bothered to soak and cook them!

CheesecakeandCrackers · 03/03/2024 19:43

I'd love to sprout them! I tried it once and kept forgetting to turn and rinse them. I'm no good at anything that requires more than just one off attention!

BurntOrange · 09/03/2024 21:01

Decided to weigh in this morning. After about 3 weeks of the scales not moving I've finally got down to 11st 2.5. Got a few social things coming up so I don't think I'll lose in the week ahead, but we'll see!

Iamblossom · 11/03/2024 09:55

I am a pound up to 9 3 after loads of meals out.

My target weight is going to need living like a total monk and I'm not sure it's worth it?

Findingmeagain · 11/03/2024 17:54

I feel exactly the same. i relax for a weekend and its all undone, dont want to cut out all treats. Upping the exercise and hoping this will soon show on the scales.

7poundstogo · 11/03/2024 18:15

I would say that 1lb up after loads of meals out is none too bad at all.
I ate like a sugar starved child yesterday and also 1lb up today.

I have not shifted any of the 7lbs I need to lose since I first posted - I seem to have halted, but I must admit my initial enthusiasm is waning and I've done virtually no exercise for a whole week.

Ho hum, let's keep going!

Iamblossom · 12/03/2024 20:55

Yes let's keep going.

🤜🏻🤛🏻

chocolaterevs · 13/03/2024 17:07

I keep hearing the mantra 30g protein for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with no snacking. 30/30/30

Anyone else being bombarded with this on social media? Protein seems to be key as we get older.

Nothing seems to work since hitting 40. I'm wondering if I need to accept really low calorie.

7poundstogo · 17/03/2024 08:22

I haven't heard the protein amounts to eat for each meal @chocolaterevs, but then the only social media I go on is here.

I am trying to meat more protein instead of carbs though to hopefully stop muscle loss while I get slimmer/fitter.

I have finally lost 2lbs in the last 6 days. I finally got all the brambles out of the garden yester, day it took an hour in the morning and 2-3 hours in the afternoon - weighed myself and 1lbs lighter today! It has to be connected. I was knackered last night!

So a slow 1lb throughout the week and 1lb overnight.

BurntOrange · 18/03/2024 13:05

Lost another pound this week.

SW14th Jan - 11st 10
CW - 11st 1.5
GW - 10st 10

Don't think I'll reach GW by Easter somehow! But I'm going to trying and eat sensibly whilst on holiday so that I stand a chance of reaching the GW in May at some point 🤞🤞

7poundstogo · 21/03/2024 18:13

I have noticed something today and i just wondered if anyone else can verify my findings . . .

If I wear black socks to weigh myself I am almost half a pound heavier than if I hold the socks in my hand. I tried both ways several times just now and always the same.

Why?

useitorlose · 22/03/2024 07:10

@7poundstogo have you got old fashioned manual scales or newish ones that do body fat etc? The new ones use bioelectrical impedance so maybe it's that?

If not - it's just nuts!!

7poundstogo · 22/03/2024 07:57

Yes they are the newish one's that measure all sorts - i only measure weight but it does have those little metal plate thingies so maybe my socks alter the reading?

Anyway - bare feet from now on and I'm 1lb lighter today than I was on Monday!

Only 5lbs to go, 2lbs has taken me 3 weeks so this is slow

BurntOrange · 25/03/2024 09:18

Another little bit off this week:

SW 14th Jan - 11st 10
CW - 11st 1
GW - 10st 10

Easter is going to be challenging! Hoping not to pile loads back on!

Sneezingdust · 25/03/2024 09:32

Late joiner here! I’m 5ft 3. Currently 70Kg/11 stone. I want to lose at least half a stone by the start of June. I lost two stone since 2022, and need to get this final stone off.

My plan is to stick to 1400 calories a day and do 10,000 steps inclusive of indoor dance workouts this spring.

Maybe if we have nicer weather this summer I’ll do 10,000 steps outside and then my indoor daily exercise on top of that and lose another half stone.

7poundstogo · 04/04/2024 10:17

I've been too ashamed to post as my healthy plan went out of the window for over a week now. Too many family meals, distant friends get togethers, 3 takeaways, a music gig and a football match.

I have eaten all manner of crap and drunk too much cider and bubbly. Not done any yoga, gardening, pilates - quite a bit of walking and dancing though!

Zero change in two week.

Still 5lbs to go . . . getting back on it today with a boiled egg, pumpkin soup and some light gardening after work.

janeljl · 04/04/2024 12:31

@Sneezingdust do you do dance workouts online or go to a class? I'm looking for something like this to increase my steps as I work from home and my dog is getting on a bit so doesn't appreciate the long walks we used to do!
