Not much to lose

Is anyone in the same situation?

I've put on a couple of kg over Christmas and haven't really got my head back in the normal eating game yet 😬

So my starting weight is 66.2kg. I'm aiming to get back under 64kg.

I love working out and walking, so exercise isn't an issue. It's just the snacking that needs to reduce! Hopefully posting here will help me.

08.01.24 - SW: 66.8kg
CW: 64.9kg
GW: 63.8kg

Morning all!
I've had a bit of a whoosh down and I'm seeing the very top of 64kg for the first time since just before Christmas 🙌

Congrats OP! So nice to see a loss. I've finally lost 2 pounds! I'm 8st 12. It was a massive slog to be honest and it's taken forever. I've downloaded an app to help me calorie count just so I have an idea, and I'm not weighing mid-week again as that didn't go well. 9 pounds to go.

HowDoYouMakeThem · 20/01/2024 13:00

Thanks @MoonieDoo

I know it's not for everyone, but weighing every day consistently has really helped me. I see the natural fluctuations and don't get so disheartened if the number randomly goes up a bit.

Nearly a month on from Christmas, I thought my chart from the health app on my phone was interesting.

Does anyone else use anything similar?

I’m half a pound down, I am trying not to have too much of a deficit because I want to maintain any muscle gains I have had lately. So very slow progress here, eating 1600 and burning 1800-2000 most days.

really struggling to exercise at the moment due to a very very busy schedule so that’s not helping!

DiegosMomHasGotItGoingOn · 21/01/2024 16:37

Just googled my weight on KG and I have put on 6kg since November 22 😮 from 54 to 60

PSEnny · 21/01/2024 16:59

I’m down from 8st 13 to 8st 9. Had a ‘bad’ couple of days this weekend though. I’m travelling for work this week coming and have 3 nights of eating out with colleagues! Going to have to make some very good choices and really keep an eye on the calories!

PersephonePomegranate23 · 21/01/2024 18:10

Sorry, late to the party here, but I'd like to join!

I've put on around half a stone since Christmas and just cannot get into a healthy routine again. After weeks of over-eating, I'm feeling constantly hungry, which I know is because I'm still eating too much high sugar and calorie/low nutritional value junk 😱 keep assuring myself that today will be the day I sort myself out, but so far that day hasn't materialised! I need some accountability!

Estimated weight: 9st 12
Goal weight: 9 st 5

I'll be back tomorrow with my actual weight!

Findingmeagain · 21/01/2024 21:15

Watching with interest as another 40+ shorty here. I called them vanity pounds as I know to other people I look fine, but I'm not comfortable with my naked body and the difference since the summer. My aim is to lose 5lb by cutting out snacking. Going to have valentines day as a mini goal, 2lb by then would be nice. (Currently around 8st 12lb, I am happiest at 8st 6/7lb ish but find that difficult to maintain so 8st 8/9lb is more realistic). My down fall is definitely chocolate and a glass of wine in the evening. I start the week well but indulge Fri Sat Sun and undo the loss earlier in the week ! I was going to an exercise class twice a week too so was feeling more toned but need to get back into that since the Christmas break. Good luck all.

BogRollBOGOF · 21/01/2024 23:11

I'd like to lose about half a stone. Another shortie, and loitering far too near to 10st for my liking. Who says size 10s don't get chub-rub? I can feel my posterior rubbing on my leg creases when running and that ain't fun when I get in the shower afterwards!

I've long learned that January isn't a good month for keeping virtuous momentum, so this is a getting into good habits month, upping the veg and thinking about food quality, phasing down on carbs gradually, and picking 5:2 back up when I'm ready. I can feel cold on fasting days and that doesn't mix well when it's been -7⁰C!

I'm hoping that when my hormones change gear in a few days that I might see some benefit to the first few weeks of effort...

This is a great phrase to sum it up!

I love the way you look at this, it reframes looking at slip ups as failures. I should be feeling good that healthy habits are being reintroduced.

It has felt like fighting against nature with this bloody freezing weather! I wonder if that's part of me wanting to feel full up constantly or whether I'm making excuses for my binge attacks? 😂

HowDoYouMakeThem · 22/01/2024 09:29

Welcome new posters ❤️

I'm agree with January being a tough month to knuckle down on healthy eating! It's cold, it's dark, it's a bit joyless.

I've just been trying to get more into a "normal" frame of mind with eating after the Christmas indulgence, rather than do anything too extreme. It's definitely working.......gradually!

I'm back with my actual starting weight, which was half a pound more than predicted.

Start weight: 9 st 12.6
Goal weight: 9 st 5

Off to a great, having forgotten the breakfast I'd prepared this morning to eat in the office 😆

coloursquare · 22/01/2024 12:03

GW 8st 7lb
CW 9st 5lb

coloursquare · 22/01/2024 12:04

Sorry - Curreng weight 9st 6lb having been down to 9 5

PrincessPotato · 22/01/2024 12:53

Ah this is the weigh-in thread for me! Shortish, small frame (size 2 feet), store weight mostly in stomach and face so prefer to be at the low end of my weight range.

CW: 8st 11.75
GW: 8st 2

Hoping to lose a pound a week - I can never lose more than that even if I want to really, plus at 38 facial skin laxity is a new concern 😭 my eating window is 1pm - 8pm - just about to eat my first meal of the day. Might stick some salmon in!

Lowin2024 · 22/01/2024 14:40

I just posted a separate thread to try and work out where I’m going wrong as 3 weeks in I have lost absolutely nothing. I’m still 8 stone 12. Despite cutting ALL my snacking and being consistently healthy and exercising more. I don’t get it 😞

Iamblossom · 22/01/2024 16:18

9 stone 3 and a bit this morning so 2 pounds off in a week.

IpanemaCaipirinha · 22/01/2024 17:09

@Lowin2024 you may get a sudden whoosh! Sometimes it takes a few weeks for the body to adjust.

I'm down just over 1lb since NY. Slow but going the right way.

Tracker1234 · 22/01/2024 18:03

What a great thread. On some threads we are chased off by people who have stones to lose. I am very small boned but am 30 FF/G and would love to lose off my boobs but I know it doesn’t work like that. I use Bravissimo for bra fitting but I look rather top heavy.

i find you really need to focus EVERY SINGLE day on what you eat. No cheating and pretending you didn’t eat two biscuits. In fact I don’t have stuff like this in the house but do like to go out to dinner a couple of times a month. Again I need to focus on what I order. Have lost 4lbs and would like to lose another 2 ish.

HowDoYouMakeThem · 22/01/2024 18:31

I've definitely snacked more than I needed to today 🙄

But I made a lovely chicken soup for dinner, using the leftovers from our roast yesterday. It was delicious and I've got a few portions put aside for my work lunches this week.

OP posts:
Iamblossom · 22/01/2024 20:14

What is working for me:

Banana for breakfast plus coffee with oat milk
Breakfast at lunchtime, fat free yog with special k, seeds and blueberries mixed in, apple
Rice cakes (3 or 4) snack about 4pm. I do have a glass of white wine about 6pm too.... 🙄
Normal dinner of between 600-750 cals.

This is usually 400 to 500 cals less a day than I was having before and I don't feel hungry or deprived at all.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 23/01/2024 06:01

Morning!

Managed to stay on course yesterday. Scales say 2lbs lighter today. I know this is probably not true weight loss, but I'll take it!

I went shopping yesterday lunchtime and picked up some lovely pieces in the sale. I'm going to wear one to work today to remind myself that I want to look good (when the biscuits are calling me) and that if i carry on the way i have been over recent weeks, none of this stuff will fit!

Starting weight: 9 stb12.6
23rd Jan: 9 st 10.6
Goal: 9 st 5

Travelcrazy · 23/01/2024 08:48

Hello
Can I join please?
62 and it is so hard! 9st 10 at the minute and want to get to 9st 2. I am 5 feet 2
Can you please all give me some example meals as this is what I struggle with. Its hard as I sit down at a desk all day too!
Any beginner tips would be great thanks

IpanemaCaipirinha · 23/01/2024 15:09

@Travelcrazy I’m eating a lot of veg and replacing some carbs with cauliflower/cabbage etc. I still eat carbs but only once a day really. plus some form of protein every day.

I do not have a particularly sweet tooth but my downfall is snacking on cheese! So I’m cutting down on the snacks.

I think moving is important, even a quick power walk after work.
