Not much to lose

Is anyone in the same situation?

I've put on a couple of kg over Christmas and haven't really got my head back in the normal eating game yet 😬

So my starting weight is 66.2kg. I'm aiming to get back under 64kg.

I love working out and walking, so exercise isn't an issue. It's just the snacking that needs to reduce! Hopefully posting here will help me.

@chocrolos Just to say - I only found her today and have only watched a couple of the videos (so I may watch more and find she is talking nonsense!). But I'd love to hear your thoughts after you have watched some of them.

My meals are fairly similar to yours:
Omelettes
Chicken breast & veg
Salmon & veg
Salads (often with tuna or chicken)
Greek yogurt
Stir fries

I'd like to join for some solidarity.

I'd like to lose at least 5 pounds but ideally 7.

I weighed this morning for the first time in months and it confirmed what my clothes have been saying.

For me it's snacking and wine. I run between 25 and 30km a week, but it makes no difference to my weight. I'm going to need to reduce calories.

Snacks are healthy ones but I just need to reduce them.

Just thought I’d pop back in to say the fast 800 books are 99p on kindle today.

I’m not going to count calories religiously as I’m going to cut out snacking and see what that does. But the recipe books have some good recipe ideas.

HowDoYouMakeThem · 16/01/2024 12:51

Hi all.

I'm still plugging away, but without a massive amount of effort.

I'm certainly eating more normally than I was over Christmas. I kind of think maybe that's the best I can expect of myself in January!

I am down a pound. It's going to be slow progress.

I am eating a banana for breakfast and then waiting for 12 noon to eat first meal.

Eating much more protein than carbs, and trying to drink lots of water.

MoonieDoo · 16/01/2024 16:00

I'm down 2 pounds and progress is definitely slow. I've been walking 3 miles a day most days and trying not to eat breakfast until I get to work which gives me 14-15 hours of intermittent fast. I think I might be getting used to being hungry. It's nice to be under 9 stone I guess!

Iamblossom · 16/01/2024 21:35

@mooniedoo that's my goal. 5 pounds to go.

Fully expect to stall tomorrow as have had 2 glasses of wine this evening 🙄

IpanemaCaipirinha · 17/01/2024 05:14

Half a pound down this morning! After a couple of weeks of normal eating and increased exercise. Guess this is going to be slow Confused

IpanemaCaipirinha · 17/01/2024 07:17

Should add that my stomach is flatter and I’ve lost the post-Christmas bloat. Now for coffe…

MoonieDoo · 17/01/2024 07:53

Fuck, back up to 9 stones!

coloursquare · 17/01/2024 09:37

I've stalled. Lost 2lb between New Year's Day and Friday 12th but am stalled.

Magnolia82 · 17/01/2024 10:36

It's so hard, isn't it, when we don't have much to lose? But lovely to be part of a group where people are seeing gradual progress.

I have gained 2 pounds, even though I'm eating low carb, 1000 calories (I'm short!), no UPF and walking at least 15,000 steps. Frustrating!

@chocrolos Did you watch any of those videos. What did you think? Wondering if this is where I'm going wrong and I need to do regular strength training and maybe even up my calories? (But feels hard to know...)

Iamblossom · 17/01/2024 10:41

Another pound down so 9 stone 4.8 this morning. Will keep on keeping on. Daily weighing is something I have avoided for months, but until I have lost a bit I am going to do it, although fully expecting to go up and down.

@MoonieDoo you will be back under soon, you watch.

And yes, this thread is helpful to me so thanks. 😚[glugs water]

Also heard green tea helps speed up your meatabolism so will try and glug a couple of cups of that a day too. Can't hurt right?

Hereforthedramaz · 17/01/2024 10:46

Hi, can I join?

I lost about 5kg last year, started this year at 67kg, 66kg would put me at the top end of healthy BMI.

17/1/24
CW- 66.9
GW- 64

I'm only 5"3, quite naturally curvy and don't want to lose that too much so I'm not currently sure about my eventual goal weight.

No carbs with my evening meal and eating insanely early helps me.

I do a good amount of exercise

I weigh daily, it helps me to get a bit obsessed with the data! I have the withings smart scales so lots of data to obsess over!

Iamblossom · 17/01/2024 11:24

not sure what a meatabolism is - *metabolism

Working through the vids and finding them really useful. Agree with her that we need to increase protein and focus on resistance training over cardio. I hit 10,000 steps anyway just from work, school run, housework, so for me I'm not going to bother doing anything extra. I am going to do strength training, but I think Pilates type exercise is better for petites as we can look bottom heavy if we build muscle on our legs. I find Pilates lengthens and slims the legs, just personal opinion.

Iamblossom · 17/01/2024 14:38

Can only do walking at the moment as fell and bruised my ribs when running, but am getting out everyday and walking at least 5km.

HowDoYouMakeThem · 17/01/2024 18:44

Well done to everyone who is gradually chipping away.

My progress is definitely slow but I'm continuing on!

How can 50g of porridge have 180 calories? Asking for a friend.... 🙄

MajesticWhine · 19/01/2024 13:24

I am doing low-ish carb. Not keto or very low carb because I can't do it. I'm trying for less than 100g carb per day.
So far ok but worried I'm going to mess up at the weekend when I tend to eat more - and also I'm going out for dinner.

That may be about right but it's not including the milk and the brown sugar ?

MorrisZapp · 19/01/2024 13:33

I'm aiming for the next hole on my belt - I'm currently two holes up from my fighting weight! Not really weighing. God it's hard in this bloody arctic weather. We plough on...

made with water. Yawn.

IpanemaCaipirinha · 19/01/2024 15:41

So 1lb so far over two weeks of normalish eating (be gone Christmas cheese) and lots more steps.

That’s ok, bit slow though and I’m out tonight for drinks Blush

I think we need to factor in weekends and look at the long term... Curry beer and wine here this evening...
