Not much to lose

Is anyone in the same situation?

I've put on a couple of kg over Christmas and haven't really got my head back in the normal eating game yet 😬

So my starting weight is 66.2kg. I'm aiming to get back under 64kg.

I love working out and walking, so exercise isn't an issue. It's just the snacking that needs to reduce! Hopefully posting here will help me.

@lewin are you active at all?

I200 or less is all that works for me too. Do you find it matters how many carbs you have that make up the 1200 cals? Or not?

HowDoYouMakeThem · 30/01/2024 07:51

Well done to the losers.

I'm still dealing with period bloat but it's on its way out hopefully. Just need to keep going and not get derailed.

I'm having to do 1200 a day as well. I up it to 1500 on the days I run.

Not generally. As long as I’m around 1200 cals I seem to lose.

Zanatdy · 30/01/2024 20:24

I’m 30 days in today and half a stone down! Super proud of myself. Been eating around 1300 cals a day, maybe a little more some days which is a lot for me when dieting as at 5ft 1 and starting weight of 9st 8 I was only just into overweight. What’s made me have more calories and lose a bit faster has been increasing steps. So I’m burning around 2200 a day. I’m in a walking club, currently walking twice a week but only one big walk due to dark nights. Do 5 miles though for that and I walk up and down my living room a lot, and walk the dog. Did 60 miles last week. Without that I’d be only able to eat 1000 and I find that so hard to stick to.

Plan for Feb is to lose 5lbs which might be difficult now into month 2 but I have a few meals out. But I didn’t cheat at all all of Jan so hoping the meals out will be at places I can eat a reasonable amount and if I drive I won’t waste calories on wine

For me carb content doesn’t tend to matter but I know for some it can make a big difference. I am keeping things very simple right now and eating the same foods. Always the same breakfast and lunch, and I alternate evening meals but generally same for 3 days, then slightly different. Helps my kids have grown up, only one at home and she likes to cook her own food so I only have to cook for myself until the holidays when Uni son is home which makes it a bit harder

Iamblossom · 31/01/2024 08:11

SW 9 5.8
CW 9 3.2
GW 8 10

Iamblossom · 31/01/2024 08:12

I run about 25km a week. It is one of the injustices of this world that it doesn't help me lose weight.

coloursquare · 31/01/2024 08:39

Weighed in today so I could compare whole month.

SW (31 Dec) 9st 8lb
CW (31 Jan) 9st 4.4lb
GW under 9 st

Am happy with that loss over course of a month. Has allowed for fluctuations

Letsrunabath · 31/01/2024 09:08

I’ve found my people, please can I join?

I’ve been looking at weight loss threads but like a lot of posters on here, I don’t have lots to loose now. I started seriously after New Year already do lots of exercise 5 days a week at the gym, week 3 of ct5k (again),and walk our dog most days hit 10,000 steps but post menopause makes it much harder to loose weight.
I let myself go between September and Xmas.
sw. 10st 1
cw. 9 st 8
gw. 8.12. March 23rd HOLIDAY🌞
I’m using my fitness pal, fasting till 12, no upf, no bread and butter😢, wine only at weekends.
weigh myself everyday as I need to be accountable for what I eat.
Good luck to everyone.

Letsrunabath · 31/01/2024 09:09

Forgot to say I’m only 5feet 1 so every pound extra shows.

HowDoYouMakeThem · 31/01/2024 18:42

All newcomers are very welcome!

Thanks, need to be accountable as I’m currently snacking on Bombay mix, tiny portion but it’s the slippery slope l.

Lowin2024 · 01/02/2024 07:24

I want to cry. I lost 4lbs in January ready for a weekend away. Yesterday I felt really rubbish and just had an awful day foodwise. I was doing 1200 cals but I probably ate more like 1800 yesterday, quite a few biscuits and an unhealthy pizza dinner and I’m back up 2lbs this morning!! I know it can’t be fat. It’s got to be water retention or something but it’s so disheartening that I have one minor slip up and it shows on the scales in a BIG way.

coloursquare · 01/02/2024 07:45

@Lowin2024 don't worry! You have to eat 3500 calories to gain lb of fat. It'll just be normal fluctuations.

Findingmeagain · 01/02/2024 16:00

It's so disheartening to see any gain after a day off plan, but I do think you need to still allow yourself treats and not deny yourself anything. I'm 1/2 lb up again and today I was starving all day for the first time.

Letsrunabath · 02/02/2024 11:34

My weight goes up after the weekend but I expect it and just have a deficit over the next few days. Don’t beat yourself up, enjoy your treats and get back on it.

Magicpaintbrush · 02/02/2024 14:20

Can I join? I need to lose about half a stone, and although I'm doing well with healthy meals it's the snacking in between which is ruining it - I am my own worst enemy. I was doing so well today, small bowl of cereal and a banana for breakfast, salad for lunch .... but my mum bought us a box of Celebrations at the weekend and I've just demolished half the box. It's sugar that's the problem, I'm so weak :-( . I actually lost almost 2 stone last year on the auto-immune diet because I was really ill with Rheumatoid Arthritis and because the motivating factor was the avoidance of terrible pain I was able to stick to it - now that's no longer an issue due to meds I have put half a stone back on. I am so annoyed with myself. I got down to a 12 but my jeans are definitely not fitting as well now. I'm hoping if I join this thread it might motivate me more to be good....

HowDoYouMakeThem · 03/02/2024 07:51

Morning all!! (You're very welcome to join new posters)

I've had a funny old week on the scales with my weight being all over the place.

However, here's my update:
SW on 07.01.24 was 66.2kg
CW 64.7kg
GW under 64kg

Hello all! Still plodding along here. This is hard.

SW 9st 2lb ish
CW 8st 11lb
GW 8st 5 would be nice

Sticking to 1200 cals is slowly working. It’s easier on a work day because of the routine. I have to try not to undo my good work at the weekends. Pub meal tonight with family and I can’t imagine they’ll be a low cal choice. A pint is 200 cals!

Findingmeagain · 03/02/2024 16:03

I've had a bad 2 days food wise and am out for dinner tonight so I've decided not to even step on the scales for a few days to allow it to level out a bit, otherwise I will make myself feel bad. I felt great in my outfit last night so was glad for the initial loss last week. Fresh start tomorrow.

Iamblossom · 03/02/2024 18:06

@findingmeagain same here. Will try and have a clean day tomorrow and weigh Monday morning.

It will really buoy me up if I can see 9 2 on the scales this week.

coloursquare · 03/02/2024 20:32

I've had a bad eating day today as well. Going to try and be disciplined tomorrow. I really want to see 9st 3 over next 5 days.

BurntOrange · 03/02/2024 21:33

I'm trying to not snack in the evenings and last week it worked with a 2lb loss so I'm hoping for similar this week but we'll see! Will also be weighing Monday morning

useitorlose · 04/02/2024 07:49

Hi everyone,

I don't have much left to lose. I started SW online last July at 10st 9, which was my highest ever non-pregnant weight. I'd got down to 9st in July 2021 when we went on holiday, and 9st 3 in Dec 2022 for another holiday, so gaining 1.5 st between Dec 2022 and July 2023 was entirely my own fault. I've worked on recognising the behaviours that led to these fluctuations and one of the other triggers for action was the realisation that I was spending over £3k on Invisalign but was still really unhappy with my body. Because of the way I hold excess weight, I'd gone from 8/10 to 12/14 in six months. What was the point of having straight teeth?!

Right now I'm within touching distance of 9st again and I've set my target at 8st 10, which is very doable for my height and activity levels. I can't be bothered with calorie counting, and although I've done 5:2 in the past, I wanted to retrain my eating habits so I could have what I wanted, know what to eat freely and what to have in moderation, and SW has been really effective for me. I'll be 56 at the end of March and I'd love to be at my target by then.

It's taken me over 6 months to lose 1st 9lbs, and I know some people manage that much more quickly, but I am absolutely ok with this taking as long as it takes - this time I want it to stay off! (The next holiday is in April!)
