Anyone else up for sorting their shit out, starting tomorrow 1st Jan.

I need a complete overhaul, I'm far too fat and look a mess. It's making me feel miserable so I'm going to do something about it.

I would love some company.

I'm going to contact my gp about ozempic or similar as I've reached a point where I can't stand myself and my mental health is really struggling. I am a size 22/24 and 16 stone

JoJoMarch · 31/12/2023 12:42

I'm here for this. I'm not the most unfit I've ever been but I am the heaviest / fattest. I'm planning on running and work outs to sort me out as I love food too much.

KatSlatersCoat · 31/12/2023 12:47

Not sure how much I actually weigh. I would estimate 13st. I do have scales so I shall find out in the morning.

I've been psyching myself up for this for the last couple of weeks.

GymWhale · 31/12/2023 12:48

I started weight training a couple of times a week at the beginning of November and I've already seen/felt a difference, both physically and mentally. I intend to up this to 3 times a week and also drastically change my (currently very poor) diet as of tomorrow in an attempt to look and feel better in time for Spring/Summer. I really want to be able to feel comfortable in my own skin again... It's been a while.

RedSnail · 31/12/2023 12:49

19st8 this morning, really need to sort things out, starting 1st Jan too

Desecratedcoconut · 31/12/2023 12:54

I'm in. I expect I'm about 13.5 stones. Also on the cusp of joining a slimming club with a friend. I've never done that before and hoping that some sense of shared experience will be the tipping point to stop eating everything. I've had some health problems that would be better supported by not carrying this dead weight along with me.

I definitely can't carry on just mindlessly stuffing my face with chocolate. I have been putting off weighing myself as it terrifies me but I will be on the scales first thing.

I'm in. Thinking that the 1st of January being a Monday is a good day to start

Will dust off the scales and a tape measure and see what the damage is in the morning

Rowgtfc72 · 31/12/2023 12:59

I'm in.
Sat stuffing my face with cheese straws whilst watching 1000lb sisters.
Weighed in at 15st 10lb this morning, 2 years ago I was 13st 8.
I bike 9 miles a day, walk 3 miles a day.
I look my soon to be 52 years and feel 90.

Wingingit11 · 31/12/2023 13:01

Also in. I think I’ve toppled over my heaviest ever now and genuinely feel like if this doesn’t stop I won’t see 50.

devildeepbluesea · 31/12/2023 13:03

I’m in - although keeping it real and starting on the 2nd. I have a gathering tonight I can’t get out of and will need carbs tomorrow.
I’m about 13st, 5’3” and size 14 - quite muscular and exercise lots, but I could stand to lose a good 3st.
Healthy shop done and plans to batch cook a few things tomorrow.
Also starting Caroline Girvan’s Iron series, and am planning to up the cardio as well.

Oh yes not only is it the 1st but also a Monday. All the dieting stars have aligned.

Think I'm going to check that the battery in my scales works. Don't want a set back for my big day tomorrow 😁

OP posts:
KatSlatersCoat · 31/12/2023 13:15

The scales work but will need to be hoovered off due to much dust.

littlemousebigcheese · 01/01/2024 00:53

I've tried every diet possible and the truth is, none work. You lose weight short term but then put it back on. I need to properly accept that my diet is shit and also do something bigger than slimming world or the like if I want to see actual change 😭

rockingbird · 01/01/2024 07:12

I'm in, I seriously need to shift some of this extra weight!! Kids are back to school tomorrow and I'm off to the gym. I intend to find a good podcast and pound the treadmill daily for 30 days .. I also intend to get back to fasting which did help before, just never stuck to it. 🫣 I'll step on the dusty old scales and pray!!

Vegetus · 01/01/2024 07:35

Small changes you can stick with and then once they're embedded add more. Don't go hammer and tongs from day one with an all or nothing mind set as you will run out of motivation and fail. You will be back here in 12 months possibly fatter and possibly more miserable.

Baby steps please don't kill yourself for a month and rebound back.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 01/01/2024 07:45

Yes please. I'm 5ft 7, 92.2it/203lbs/14st 7". Likely a size 16. Have gained a lot of weight since having my daughter in May and struggling with no time to exercise and binge eating. Has to stop. I'd love to get to a healthy BMI again (currently 31.8!).

DustyLee123 · 01/01/2024 07:48

I need to buy some scales, but I’m in.
This morning, after 50 years of eating cereal every day for breakfast, I’m trying to start eating yogurt/fruit/granola instead. Not quite the same as hot milk on corn flakes though.
Yesterday I was jumping around and could feel my back fat jiggling 🤢

Sybila · 01/01/2024 07:48

Me too. 13.8 and yesterday I ate so much. Don’t want to be like this any more so here we go. Back on the peloton tomorrow to try and get some ooomph back too.

actually feel sad when I look at myself now.

Have you successfully lost weight and kept it off? What other tips can you give us?

KatSlatersCoat · 01/01/2024 08:30

Happy new year all.

Big day today, I'm getting on the scales in a bit.

OP posts:
Iwishiwasasilentnight · 01/01/2024 08:35

Me! I’m going for a phased gentle approach this week and then next week I’m going to try fast 800, aiming for 2 weeks.

I’ve been on the scale and the Christmas damage was only 2lbs. Not bad considering I have 5 stone to lose.

I’ve done 15 mins of yoga this morning so I’m feeling virtuous.

JessieLongleg · 01/01/2024 08:47

@littlemousebigcheese

On NHS you can only get a prescription for diabetes not weight loss. I just had a group intro to tier 3 weight loss. They were very clear they couldn't prescribe Ozempic.

I was to deter people accessing their services just for this or other drugs they can't provide.

Glenthebattleostrich · 01/01/2024 09:01

Morning,

Definitely up for this!

I'm 209.8lb, 5'5.5. Aiming for 3 heathy meals per day (keeping under 1800 cals epr day) cutting back on carbs and dryish January. I'm also going to do a 30 day walking challenge to up my steps. First aim is tp be under 200lb by end of January.

My new rule for 2024 is if I want a treat I either walk to the shop for it (1 mile away) or bake it myself. DD has a friend coming over today so I'm making them some cookies as a treat.
