Anyone else up for sorting their shit out, starting tomorrow 1st Jan.

I need a complete overhaul, I'm far too fat and look a mess. It's making me feel miserable so I'm going to do something about it.

I would love some company.

That's amazing @Zanatdy!

Thank you. Next target now which I’ll hopefully hit this week is half a stone. I’m super chuffed I’ve lost 2lbs every week, but I have walked and walked, and walked some more! Once I’m in the zone I’m good. But I can tempted out easily. Luckily a meal this week I shared 3 veggie dishes with a friend, didn’t even see desserts on the menu thank god

Rowgtfc72 · 21/01/2024 16:46

1lb down this week and half an inch of my waist.
4lb off in total and I'm certainly not mainlining sugar anymore.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 21/01/2024 16:51

I'm still 11.12 after not worrying too much about the diet this week. I'll take it. Onwards and slowly downwards for me.

I'd like to lose another lb or 2 over the next 3 weeks before I then go away with friends and inevitably put on a lb or two eating out and not worrying too much.

dancinginthewind · 22/01/2024 05:35

2lbs down today and the scales did wobble down another pound before settling at 11.8.2. I started the year at 12st. I would love to be 11.6 by the end of the month as my challenge for January is always to lose the Christmas weight (I failed 2 years ago). At the moment. That seems so-able but, having not lost last week, who knows.
In terms of non-scale benefits, I have lost over 4 inches from my waist, an inch on my hips, half an inchon each thigh & my ankles are a totally different shape which shows just how bloated I was

Swearwolf · 22/01/2024 07:34

67.1kg again for me - that's a loss of 0.4kg in a week, but that's how much I'd gained the week before! So I am back where I was two weeks ago. That's fine as I'm trying to see the long term trends and hoping it keeps going downwards this week rather than jumping back up. Off for a short run this morning!

Swearwolf · 22/01/2024 07:51

And to add, I've looked back over my logged weights in the Garmin app (inconsistent), and back in September I was running three or four times a week and eating quite well, not drinking in the week - I was losing 1kg every two weeks, which is about 1lb a week. I'm behaving now in much the same way, so hopefully my weight will start to drop at around that rate.

littlemousebigcheese · 22/01/2024 08:57

Weighed myself and I've gained 3lbs despite eating well and taking orlistat. Feeling very despondent today

@Swearwolf I'm similar to you - 65.4kg for me this morning, which is exactly what I was 2 weeks ago! I gained 0.3kg last week and lost it again this week. I don't mind the graph bouncing as long as it bounces downhill 📉 so this week will tell.

No run for me today, but I've got a day off tomorrow so will go for a slightly longer one.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 22/01/2024 11:52

Remembered to get weighed today.
13 pounds down in total since the first of January 🤙
I'm begging to notice in my clothes now too which is a good motivator.

littlemousebigcheese · 22/01/2024 12:19

Well done to everyone on their losses!!

Swearwolf · 24/01/2024 06:53

I'm another 0.3kg down! That doesn't mean much but it's a steady downward trend so I'm happy with it. I just need to keep going and hope it carries on!

dancinginthewind · 24/01/2024 06:57

I'm down again this morning too! I must remember that weight loss is not linear rather than get despondent when I stay the same - and then raid the biscuit tin to cheer myself up!
I'm not sure I'm seeing a real difference in my clothes like @eatdrinkandbemerry is but I am feeling one. I can breathe again!

Swearwolf · 24/01/2024 08:21

You're absolutely right @dancinginthewind ! I do exactly the same, I just need to be patient and trust that it is working long term. I haven't seen all that much movement on the scales yet, and my trousers are not looser, but I think I'm seeing a slight improvement in my face/neck - I might be imagining it, but either way it's encouraging.

Swearwolf · 26/01/2024 11:32

How is everyone getting on?

I've had a pretty decent week, eaten fairly sensibly (though I have snacked a couple of times, and I ate an ice cream) and haven't had any gin. I ran four times and did a yoga class, and I'm not starving hungry so it's probably a win. Mentally though, not so great!

I've been feeling so positive and trying to see the longer term goal even though I'm not making much progress, but today I just feel so disheartened. I caught myself in the mirror and just looked huge, and it made me feel really hopeless. Trying to ignore it and imagine where I might be this time next month. I have been telling myself I just need to keep at it, but there is a nagging part of me wondering if I'm doing it wrong and if I'm going to end up bigger. I haven't been super strict because that doesn't work for me, but had thought that doing better than before would mean the weight would slowly come off. What if I'm wrong?!

Hedonism · 26/01/2024 12:07

Keep going @Swearwolf ! I've been quoting your post from earlier in the week to myself...

back in September I was running three or four times a week and eating quite well, not drinking in the week - I was losing 1kg every two weeks, which is about 1lb a week.

....as this is exactly what I am aiming for!

I think I'm down slightly (official weigh in day is Monday), I have managed 3 runs and some extra walks this week. I'm cold today though, I need to resist the urge for stodgy food.

Swearwolf · 26/01/2024 18:20

Thanks @Hedonism, I know you're right! I just need to keep going. Keep my portions smaller and drink more water. It's nice to know someone is in the same boat and doing things the same way!

Swearwolf · 26/01/2024 20:10

Aaaaaand suddenly it all makes sense, period is here. Fingers crossed the bloat is all hormonal and I will emerge next week a butterfly!

Hedonism · 29/01/2024 08:29

Huh. So on Friday the scales said 65.2kg, I have been pretty good over the weekend, including a long walk on Saturday and a long run on Sunday. I did have a couple of glasses of wine but nothing crazy. This morning... 66.2kg.

I refuse to believe I have actually gained a kilo in 2 days, that would be an excess of 7000ish calories across the weekend. Pretty sure I didn't eat that much in total! I reckon either my scales or my body are messing with me 😭

Feeling despondent.

Swearwolf · 29/01/2024 09:30

Oh no @Hedonism! It could just be water weight, maybe try again on Wednesday. What always happens to me is my body takes a little while to catch up.

I totally get how you feel but try to remember the long term downward trend with bumps on the way, and don't let it put you off!

Hedonism · 29/01/2024 12:06

Thank you @Swearwolf , you are right! It's a marathon not a sprint, etc etc.

Speaking of which, and on the plus side, I felt great after a slightly longer than usual run on Sunday morning. I'm definitely seeing a difference there and getting my fitness and stamina back.

Swearwolf · 29/01/2024 14:14

Me too!!!! I'm trying to focus on how much better I'm feeling, and how much easier running is becoming (I am definitely not a natural, but find it easier the more I do). It's all connected for me, losing weight and eating better and exercise and alcohol and my mood... everything depends on everything else and when i get on a roll it all starts working with a little less effort. We just need to push on to that point.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 29/01/2024 16:43

Pleased as punch
1 stone 1 pound down since the 1st of January.
I do need to do more exercise though but hate being out in this wet weather so I've dusted off my cross trainer 🤣💪🏼and dumbbells

cardibach · 29/01/2024 17:11

Really pleased for you @eatdrinkandbemerry , but this is why I should know better than to come in threads like these. That’s totally unattainable speed for me. I’ve got about 4 or 5 stone to lose, and yet a pound a week is the best 8n an ever do (and not every week then). I stick to the diet and I exercise but it’s half a pound here or there. I’ve never in my life lost 4lbs in a week, let alone for 3 and a half weeks running which is what your loss is.
like I say, I am really pleased for you but I’m unfollowing this, it just makes me feel shit. Please don’t @ me anyone. I do not wish to be reminded of this thread.

Sorry for making you feel bad x
I lose it quickly because I have severe pcos so I know exactly what I shouldn't be eating.
I also gain wait just as quickly.
I feel bad now that I've upset you I just wanted to share my journey x

Swearwolf · 29/01/2024 18:22

@eatdrinkandbemerry you haven't done anything wrong! Congrats on such a great loss, that's brilliant news and inspiring for those of us on a slower start.

I'm not going at quite that rate either, but I'm feeling like I will get there eventually. Trying to be patient!
