KatSlatersCoat · 31/12/2023 12:31

Anyone else up for sorting their shit out, starting tomorrow 1st Jan.

I need a complete overhaul, I'm far too fat and look a mess. It's making me feel miserable so I'm going to do something about it.

I would love some company.

I've just got back from a five mile walk with the kids and other half 💪🏼.
I'm determined to lose weight this year .

Well done. A good start for the new year.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/01/2024 15:23

Yes please, I'm in!

12.01 (and a half) on my scales this morning. I'd got down to 11.13 before Christmas, but am glad I've only had a 2lb gain.
Last year I lost a stone and a half by limiting snacks and overeating. And the year before I lost a stone with slimming world.

I have a 12 week free membership via our local hospital's self-referral scheme (v easy to access, all done online!) and have put off going back to meetings, but may do that now - although they will be BUSY.

My new year resolution is to pick up my exercise classes as I had nearly all year off last year, after developing first right side, then left side shoulder impingement. Have had physio to help and they are the best they've been in a long while so as soon as my zumba classes restart, I'm rejoining. Gold first, to build up the level!

Roast dinner today, but I've cleared away a lot of the leftover goodies. :)

KatSlatersCoat · 01/01/2024 20:10

I hope that everyone got on ok today. I have been pretty good considering there is still Christmas chocolate in the house.

OP posts:
Maybaby12 · 01/01/2024 20:57

Didn’t too badly considering we still have chocolate, lots of booze and crisps in the house
fruit salad for brekkie
two eggs, streaky bacon and grilled tomatoes for lunch- not greatest but I didn’t have toast and no oil when cooking eggs
dinner - gammon, small amount of mash and lots of greens
now having a tea

it’s small starts I guess for me, no snacking or alcohol, so even tho it’s not the greatest it’s a lot better than what I’ve been having before so I’ll take it as an okay day!

Watchkeys · 01/01/2024 20:58

Thanks @Vegetus ... and bloody well done!

Sunflower07 · 01/01/2024 21:06

Hello 👋🏻 I'd like to join you all please.

I weigh 15st 10lbs and I'm 5ft 7. I want to get down to 11 stone initially and then see where to go from there. I turn 30 at the end of June and would like to lose a good chunk of the weight before then.

I've already started PT twice a week and I intend to join a local gym to do some extra sessions there. I also walk the dog each day so I'm going to try to increase that.

Diet is ok in terms of meals, but my issue is and always has been snacking in the evenings. I am dreadful 😳 the past few days I've been really sick with vertigo so the silver lining there might be a good loss on the scales 🤞🏻

Hedonism · 01/01/2024 21:14

@Maybaby12 same, today's wins are no snacking and no alcohol 🙌🏻

I ran 5k too, and started on a plan to get back into proper exercise habits. Tomorrow I'm taking my DC swimming - they are old enough to mess about in the leisure pool together while I bash out a few lengths in the main pool.

Desecratedcoconut · 01/01/2024 21:25

Well, I did have a mince pie - it is NYD after all, but otherwise I had an omelette and steak, mash, mushrooms, peppercorn sauce. Probably not a diet I could give a name to 😁but I didn't eat a whole load of stuff I would have done otherwise so I'm calling it a win.

Minnie123456 · 01/01/2024 21:27

Reading on scales wasn't as bad as expected 13st 4lbs (closer to 5lbs) was expecting it to be a lot higher.

I'm starting tomorrow as today has been a lazy day.

devildeepbluesea · 02/01/2024 07:27

I started my weights program yesterday, was always planning to stop the crap food today. I have some food prep to get on with, will do weights and possibly a circuit training class.

Also a trip to the tip. Lucky me!

thisisasurvivor · 02/01/2024 07:45

Loving this thread so much

Got 100 lbs to lose

I'm so determined to get it off by this time next year
So 2lbs a week

7 effing stone

2 baby's and fled the most horrific abuse so spent the years binge eating

No sugar or booze this year
I don't even enjoy it

Love fish and salads
Need to stop the many takeaways easch week

Wishing you all so much luck
We can do this 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Swearwolf · 02/01/2024 08:08

Am I too late to join you? I'm full of cold, so starting off slowly with no exercise until I'm better.

I only have 2 stone to lose - haven't weighed myself but I can see in my face that I've gained weight over Christmas. I look how I last looked at my highest weight, which was almost 11 stone. Less than some here, but I'm very short and small so it's a lot on my frame and I'm visibly overweight.

For the last year I've been hovering between 10 stone and 10 and a half. When I get on a good streak I feel great, I just don't keep it up. Right now I feel gross. My plans are:

  • less alcohol. Stop drinking for the sake of it, and don't drink during the week.
  • run 3x a week and do one yoga class. This combination has been working for me and I'm feeling stronger and fitter, but being out of routine over the holidays has really affected my running.
  • more soup! I work from home and it's too tempting to cook up a little pasta for lunch when it's cold and gross outside.

I know what I need to do, I just need to do it! I'd like to be visibly smaller by a work trip I have in March, and under 10 stone by my birthday in July. I refuse to spend another summer feeling flabby and uncomfortable.

Iwishiwasasilentnight · 02/01/2024 08:16

Morning all, sounds like lots of people are doing a gentle start too.

Day 2 of doing yoga done.

I’ve decided to have no chocolate, biscuits, sweets, cakes until Easter. Well that’s the theory. I think I like the idea of them more than the reality.

KatSlatersCoat · 02/01/2024 08:19

@thisisasurvivor I'm so sorry that you've been through all of this, it sounds awful.

Glad that you have decided to turn it all around and you can definitely do this. 2lbs a week is doable, I wish you luck.

Stopping the takeaways will also put more money in your pocket so you can treat yourself in other ways.

Hello @Swearwolf glad that you have joined us. Sorry that you are sick with a cold, hope that you manage to shift it soon. Best of luck with your weight loss.

I'm short too and do not carry weight well, it really shows on my belly and face. I seem to have developed a double chin over Christmas which is new to me.

OP posts:
Swearwolf · 02/01/2024 08:28

@katslaterscoat That's exactly where I carry my weight too, and on the tops of my arms. Basically all the places that are hardest to hide or dress carefully!

Gymmum82 · 02/01/2024 08:40

Can I join?
I’ve had success with losing weight before and have lost 7 stone but in the last year or so the weight has crept back up. Now sitting at nearly 12 stone. I’d like to get back down to 10 stone.
I have no issue with exercise as I love it and will gym 5-6 times a week but I’ve got 2 competitions in January and I’m too heavy for them 🤦‍♀️ I need to overhaul my diet and get the weight off

Jellybean85 · 02/01/2024 09:41

DustyLee123 · 01/01/2024 07:48

I need to buy some scales, but I’m in.
This morning, after 50 years of eating cereal every day for breakfast, I’m trying to start eating yogurt/fruit/granola instead. Not quite the same as hot milk on corn flakes though.
Yesterday I was jumping around and could feel my back fat jiggling 🤢

Careful with this I did it last week feeling virtuous. It when I checked the weight of my portion against the bag it was over 500 calories!!

KatSlatersCoat · 02/01/2024 10:07

@Gymmum82 wow, you lost 7 stones. That's amazing. Glad that you are joining us.

Hope everyone's day is going ok. I've been having the big post Christmas sort out, haven't stopped all day.

Was contemplating going out for a walk but the wind and rain is hideous today.

I'm down to 18st 12lb today.

That's a loss from Saturday when I was 19st 10lb.

Have you found a non wobbly area of floor for your scales? Today's weight is much better for you.

Yes, I've got a very good place for them now.

My weight is always weird like this. If I've spent three weeks overeating and stuffing myself with mince pies and chocolates, I gain a lot of weight quickly - and lose the first stone of it just as quickly when I stop overeating.

Once I get to about 18st 4lb, I will lose about 2lb a week. Maybe 3lb if I'm strict with myself and do intermittent fasting and take the Orlistat as prescribed.

Swearwolf · 02/01/2024 19:56

I've had a pretty decent day, helped by still feeling a bit rubbish. Overnight oats for breakfast, salad for lunch (although we were out with friends today and ate at the pub, so it was a massive one with halloumi and stuff, still better than a burger) and used some leftover roast pork tonight to make noodle soup. Most importantly, no alcohol and very little snacking! I did eat a very small brownie and a chocolate finger, but didn't go wild.

I'll weigh myself next week when I'm feeling less bloated! I know that's a little dishonest but I just can't face it yet.

dancinginthewind · 02/01/2024 20:56

Can I join you too? I'm you weight & height twin, @KatSlatersCoat. I have never been over 12st before, other than in the late stages of pregnancy and for about 6 months after DC2 was born.
I need to lose half a stone to get back to the weight I was for most of 2023 and then another stone to get back to a healthy BMI and into the majority of my clothes. I spent all of last year meaning to lose this stone but never got more than 2 or 3lbs down. Something needs to change this year!
