Anyone else up for sorting their shit out, starting tomorrow 1st Jan.

I need a complete overhaul, I'm far too fat and look a mess. It's making me feel miserable so I'm going to do something about it.

I would love some company.

@eatdrinkandbemerry wow, that's a great achievement, well done! So satisfying to hit a milestone like a stone 👏🏼

cardibach · 29/01/2024 22:36

@eatdrinkandbemerry you didn’t make me feel bad, please don’t feel guilty for doing well! I just find it hard…I shouldn’t have put that on the thread really. I’ll go again now.

Swearwolf · 30/01/2024 07:34

I won't tag you but in case you do pop back cardibach, I get how you feel and there are a couple of us also losing at a snail's pace. I'm trying to see the long term and think that even if I'm only 4lb lighter this summer, that's better than being the same or heavier (as previous summers have gone - I always lose hope in the spring and pile it all back on).

Rowgtfc72 · 30/01/2024 07:48

I won't tag you cardibach but if you do come back I'm in the same boat. I need to lose 4/5 stone. Some weeks I lose, some weeks I don't. Life, work, me gets in the way.
I've lost 4lb since the 1st of Jan. And 3 inches off my waist. I'm over the moon.
I get it, it's hard.

To those whose metabolism let's them lose weight don't feel bad- we're all very different!

Hedonism · 30/01/2024 19:03

Cardibach (I won't @ you), the only time I have ever lost 3lb in one week was when I had gastroenteritis! We're all different. Hope you are feeling ok

I went for a lovely run today, which I then balanced out by baking a sponge pudding for my teenage son and his hollow legs, which I obviously had to taste test 🤦🏼‍♀️ At least I had the run first, I'm hoping that's a neutral impact in terms of calories.

Rowgtfc72 · 04/02/2024 12:16

So I've had a week off work. That's 40 miles I haven't biked. I haven't spent 8hrs a day on my feet.
I've had one takeaway. Two meals out. 6 pints. Cheese I don't normally eat. I walked further than normal. I haven't eaten biscuits, cake or chocolate as I would normally do.
I've gone from 15st 5/6 to 15st 14!!!!!!

That half a stone better drop off bloody quickly.

Swearwolf · 04/02/2024 12:52

That's amazing!!! Well done. I'm doing well too, going very light on the alcohol and I said no to a takeaway last night.

I'm planning to weigh myself in the morning but I feel like I've lost some weight. I went running this morning and my sports bra felt less tight.

Swearwolf · 04/02/2024 12:54

I meant well done on the habits, not the weight, that wasn't well explained. That half stone will melt off once you're cycling again.

Rowgtfc72 · 04/02/2024 13:59

@Swearwolf I always swore because I've done the same distance for 25yrs it doesn't make any difference to my weightloss. I may be wrong.
Normally I would see a week off as an excuse to eat copious amounts of chocolate and cake and slob in front of Netflix. 16 month old puppy says otherwise and I think the last 3 weeks of setting good habits have made a difference.

Time to up my game.

Hedonism · 05/02/2024 08:07

Monday weigh in. I've stalled! No loss for the last couple of weeks. But at least no gains??

Swearwolf · 05/02/2024 09:47

Me too @Hedonism ! I was down to 66.1kg last week and this morning I'm back up to 66.4. I'm going to weigh myself again in a couple of days, I always eat worse over the weekend and had a big roast dinner last night so I think it could be water retention. I'm trying to push on with a little exercise every day and eating as sensibly as I can without sending myself mad.

Hedonism · 05/02/2024 22:34

It's frustrating, isn't it @Swearwolf ! I've bounced up and down between 65.1 and 65.6 all week. I was 65.3 this morning.

I have some time tomorrow so I'm going to make a big batch of soup ready for my lunches for the rest of the week, otherwise I will fall into the trap of having nothing ready when I am hungry and opting for something fast and unhealthy.

I'm also trying to keep up the exercise, and going for a long walk on days when I don't run. Even if I don't lose weight at least I will get fitter 🙂

Swearwolf · 06/02/2024 06:09

Yes! Keep going, I'm doing the same. We will hopefully still lose weight or like you say just be a little fitter. If we give up, we definitely won't! My eating has crept up over the last couple of days so I need to watch that, I'm pleased with how the exercise is going though, I'm still doing at least something every day. Before, I was exercising at least 3 times a week, but I had days where I did nothing and my step count was sub-3k. Working from home is dangerous!

Hedonism · 06/02/2024 06:52

Working from home is dangerous!

It is - especially when your DC start taking themselves to school! Last year I at least had the school run to get me moving. It's alarming how little it is possible to move in a day.

Swearwolf · 06/02/2024 06:55

Yes! I do three days where I drop off and two where I don't, and on those two days I can move shockingly little. I now have a regular yoga class on one of the days and a regular group run on the other. I'm also trying to increase the times I run immediately after drop off - it only adds half an hour to the school run which I can make up by starting earlier, so I may as well go every day.

Hedonism · 06/02/2024 07:06

I like a post school run run, it gets your blood pumping before work. And it feels very efficient 😁

The other thing I've been trying (when I remember) is a 5 minute walk around the block before a meeting. If I am in the office then I often have to walk between sites for meetings so it's just replicating that. It's probably good for my eyes as well, a proper screen break.

Urgh. Work is so bad for you 🤣

eatdrinkandbemerry · 10/02/2024 19:50

Hope everyone is still doing well.
I've lost a little this week but put in extra effort and moved house (didn't realise how much crap I own) so lots of heavy lifting.

Swearwolf · 11/02/2024 06:29

I'm still here too! Nice work losing while moving house @eatdrinkandbemerry, it's so hard when you're out of routine. I'm still plugging away and the scales are still fluctuating up and down, but the overall trend seems to be downward so I am carrying on. I snacked a lot yesterday but did also go for a walk, and only had one glass of wine with dinner rather than several gins while watching the rugby first.

Weight loss is slow but I'm seeing small gains - I tried on a pair of trousers yesterday in my normal size and they were a little loose! This shop is terrible for vanity sizing but still, it was the size I usually am in there. Annoyingly the size down didn't quite fit (though they did do up!). I'm next in that area in two weeks time so I'm going to try them again then and hope I can buy the smaller ones.

Rowgtfc72 · 11/04/2024 09:48

Been a while.
Anyone still here?
Spectacularly fell off the wagon weighing in at 16st 2. Not weighed that since I was pregnant 16 years ago. I'm getting where I need the next size overall at work and that ain't happening.
Redownloaded the NHS weightloss app and am tracking calories. Have never written down cheat day calories before.
It was an eye opener.
I'm now trading calories eg I can have a treat if I eat well the rest of the day.
I've lost my sugar craving, am less bloated and wouldn't class my self as perimenopausel ( if it wasn't for the dire lack of sleep and awol periods)
I feel so much better.
First week I lost 6lb and 2 in.
This week I have the flu and am stuck in the house with the fridge. Always a nightmare. Not slipped yet!
How's everyone else doing?
