Anyone else up for sorting their shit out, starting tomorrow 1st Jan.

I need a complete overhaul, I'm far too fat and look a mess. It's making me feel miserable so I'm going to do something about it.

I would love some company.

@cardibach

Ah, I see now.

I do not weigh in kilos because the loss seems so small. I mean, if I weigh in pounds I can be delighted to lose 2 - 3 lb a week. It feels crap to only lose 1 kg.

IYSWIM

Grin

I do. But conversely if I lose 100g I see that with a kilo measurement. If I was doing lbs I wouldn’t see a loss. That’s more important to me, probably because it’s vanishingly rare that I lose more than half a pound a week due I think to an underactive thyroid (medicated, but even so) and fairly slow metabolism.

TheShellBeach · 03/01/2024 16:58

But saying you've lost a stone is much more exciting than losing 6 kg.

Well it is for me, anyway.

Which is why I convert the loss to lbs!
Incidentally @Swearwolf i love your user name!

eatdrinkandbemerry · 03/01/2024 17:44

How often are people planning on getting weighed?
I'm thinking for myself every Monday 🤔
I'm doing okay I think loads of exercise and full up on healthy foods.

I weigh myself every day.

I cannot manage to wait a whole week.

Also, I like to see each loss as it happens, and to find out if I'm not on the right track, too.

TooTiredToChristmas77 · 03/01/2024 18:22

I'm in
I'm the heaviest ice every been at 12st 0.8lbs. I'm 5'6". I'm 51yrs old.

If I don't sort it now then I'll need to buy a whole new wardrobe of clothes and my knees are starting to ache. I do not want this. I want energy and stamina and to be able to travel when I (one day) retire.

I've signed up to a weight loss coach for 6 months. I got to my goal weight with the same coaching company in 2018 but then lock down and crappy menopause symptoms that are mostly ok now. When I have a bad nights sleep it's so hard to eat well.

I've started the 30 day yoga with Adrienne as well and did my first ever 30 min youtube dumb bell workout yesterday. Definitely feeling it today!

Goal weight is 10 st 2 lbs by May bank holiday (hopefully the 1st one 😉)

Rowgtfc72 · 03/01/2024 19:45

@TooTiredToChristmas77 you've hit the nail on the head there. Crappy sleep equals crappy diet. Not slept properly in about 3 years. I crave sugar and carbs.
Not fancying hrt as I don't have lots if other symptoms.
Better sleep would give me more energy to exercise and stop me mainlining sugar.

devildeepbluesea · 03/01/2024 19:49

@TheShellBeach me too. That way I can also see hormonal fluctuations, and understand that weight loss is not linear.

dancinginthewind · 04/01/2024 08:06

It's amazing what an impact two days of loads of veggies and water plus two Pilates classes can have on your body after a fortnight of lounging on the sofa eating chocolate (especially your bowels!). 3lbs down and I have lost inches from the area around my rib cage which had been really bloated. Now the hard work needs to start on shifting the actual fat.

dancinginthewind · 04/01/2024 08:12

I also want to gnaw my own arm off with hunger. It's only 8.10, I've already had breakfast and am ravenous. It's at least 4 hours until lunch. I'm aiming for 100g of protein a day so should be feeling full but I'm not

DustyLee123 · 04/01/2024 08:36

Just done my BMI and it’s 31 😕

I'm totally the opposite.
I don't usually eat breakfast or lunch so I've eaten breakfast of a high protein yogurt and im already dreading lunchtime because it's alien to me and I'm feeling so full.
I have just done half an hour on the rowing machine too.

devildeepbluesea · 04/01/2024 10:25

Rest day today. Well, active rest - walked the dog once, will go again later and may do some yoga type stuff later.

Just eating breakfast. My Mexican bean soup with shredded chicken. I struggle with breakfast because I don’t have a sweet tooth - so I’ve decided to eat whatever I want at breakfast from now on.

Hedonism · 04/01/2024 10:58

I am working from home today. DC are still off school so I had more time in the morning and went for a 10 minute walk before sitting down at my desk. Fitbit said 100 calories - so that's better than not burning 100 calories, right?!

I think I'll go for weigh ins on a Friday and a Monday, to prevent my tendancy to undo all the good work over the weekend!

That’s a pretty major symptom that’s affecting your health though…and there are so many things I’ve discovered were menopausal when I had no clue. What is it about HRT you don’t fancy?

cardibach · 04/01/2024 11:06

I braved the scale and amazingly only put on 2lbs. Result! I weigh 112.5kg today and shall normally weigh on Wednesdays. I’m best if I do it once a week, though sometimes do a midweek one too. Back with my PT this afternoon and back logging everything on MFP. Feeling pretty positive!

rockingbird · 04/01/2024 11:15

Binged watched Netflix last night and ate far too many biscuits!! 🫣 back on track this morning. Spin class done, water and work is all I'm doing until the school run. Have a great day all.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 04/01/2024 18:36

I've got 2 time-goals this year. I'm 50 in Feb and going on holiday with friends to Portugal. So I'd like to keep off the weight I've already lost and hopefully lose a few more lbs in the next 5ish weeks before we go.

Then I'm going to NYC with a different friend in May half term, which will include a LOT of walking. I've had a hip problem, then operation in the past which has left me quite weak in the leg on that side. So I'm aiming to do my physio exercises and some more walking as well as picking up my zumba classeses again to strengthen things on that side.

Desecratedcoconut · 04/01/2024 19:40

First pound down...ideally, 28 to go.

dancinginthewind · 04/01/2024 22:33

Fortunately, the hunger calmed down during the day. My DH is like you @eatdrinkandbemerry and only really eats in the evening. There were a few hangry incidents early in our relationship when I tried to follow his lead! On the subject of following someone, you've inspired me to have some leftover lentil soup for breakfast tomorrow @devildeepbluesea.
A good day here. Stayed within my calories, had mounds of veggies & protein, no sugar or alcohol & limited dairy. I saw my PT for first time in about 3 weeks and expect to be in a lot of pain tomorrow even though she was gentle with me!

Zanatdy · 05/01/2024 07:52

Hi all. I’m also so hungry. I am a terrible sleeper so been up since 4.45, and I always eat my breakfast when I wake. So it’s a long wait until lunch around 12 (or 11.30 if I can’t wait).

I’m also working from home today, been out with the dog and I’ve been walking up and down my living room for ages whilst browsing the web and reading lots of weight loss posts to keep me motivated. I’m up to 8k steps already. Might look weird but I definitely recommend indoor steps in winter, I walk outdoors too and I’m in a walking group but it’s raining out there so steps in my Oodie whilst watching breakfast news in the warmth is better than outdoors today! It helps with the weight loss as I’d be sitting on the sofa otherwise

devildeepbluesea · 05/01/2024 12:17

Hi everyone.

Dog walk, Iron Day 4 done, plus a 20min workout on the cross trainer. Then I took DD for a swim, and am about to do round #2 with the dog.

DD and I are off to the cinema this avo so I’ve just prepped my healthy snack: a tin of air fried chickpeas with hot paprika and salt. Am following WeightWatchers as well as doing My Fitness Pal and they’re free on WW! They will also form most of my lunch so not feeling too guilty.

I have a rest day and a day out with the girls tomorrow so I’m trying to stick to healthy eating til then.

Swearwolf · 05/01/2024 13:13

I'm not doing very well at all - I've been sick since new year and have just tested positive for covid. No exercise at all and I've eaten some biscuits.

On the positive side, I haven't had a drink yet this year, and I've been eating fairly sensibly. Not as much as I'd like, but less snacking, less buttery toast, and I've had quite a lot of soup. Once I am better I will get back on the exercise wagon. Baby steps over here!

Hedonism · 05/01/2024 16:30

I weighed myself this morning. I tried 4 different spots in the bathroom just as an experiment, each one was level (I moved the scales so they weren't wobbling at all). Results were as follows:
Spot 1: 66.6kg
Spot 2: 55.4kg
Spot 3: 66.6kg
Spot 4: 55.4kg

🤔

devildeepbluesea · 05/01/2024 19:19

Hope you’re on the mend soon @Swearwolf - that’s a really unlucky start.

Im knackered after my busy day, and will be hitting the hay early. Official weigh day today (but I weigh every day) - 3lb down since Monday. Happy with that, even though I know a lot will have been water.

I was surprised how easy I found the cinema with my pre- prepared snacks. I’m a salt fiend and love the salty cinema popcorn. But my chickpeas were surprisingly delicious, and lasted most of the film.

dancinginthewind · 05/01/2024 21:17

A good day today. Having lentil soup for breakfast may well be a game changer. It is one of my favourite meals and just felt really good to have for breakfast. Warming & nutritious. It also meant I could have eggs for tea when I got in from my gym class at 8pm tonight. It's usually too tempting to reach for something processed and quick.
Just about to have a bath and then apply creams, butters & other things which usually sit untouched in the bathroom cabinet. I'll probably find half of them have gone off.
Aim for this weekend is to keep on the straight & narrow
