I've decided to do another 2 weeks on 0.5. I just don't feel ready for 1mg. I've taken a half dose from my 0.5 pen. I'm going to try and be a bit more organised and meal plan this week.

I mean a half dose from my 1mg pen obv.

morning everyone and welcome to all those just starting :)

Had a weird weekend, I'm nearly at the end of my second week on 0.25mg and we went out for something to eat on Saturday, I ordered half a pizza and a salad (crappy Bella Italia) but I did have 2 glasses of white wine and a large tia maria when I got in - not sure if it is coincidence but felt absolutely awful all yesterday.

I have noticed that I barely crave alcohol on wegovy, has anyone else found this? I would say that prior to starting I could quite easily pour myself a glass or 2 of wine most evenings during the week and more over a weekend. Its obviously a good side effect to have 😄

Yes, that's common. I hardly drink anymore. I don't want to and feel really sick the next day.

Annwithout · 15/01/2024 09:56

@anoldcharter one of the best things about Wegovy has been my reduced alcohol consumption, almost worth taking it just for that!

The alcohol always leads on to rubbish snacking :(

anoldcharter · 15/01/2024 10:00

that's really interesting @Annwithout and @AhBiscuits i didn't expect it to affect alcohol consumption like that and yes, definitely helps cutting out the snacks to go with the wine 😳

Yes you can overdose - I did accidentally. It was my first 0.25 pen. I was expecting to see a yellow cartridge in the pen but I never did so kept on trying it. I had been watching YouTube videos on how to take it but it was US videos and it must be a different colour cartridge over there. Anyway I had no unpleasant side effects other than burps. I forgot to eat for a day so I know it definitely worked.
I called Boots online doc as I was worried and was advised not to take any more for a month and they then insisted I start again on 0.25. Thing is I’ve had constipation on the .25 and .5 dose, which I never had when I ended up taking the full pen. I’m due to start on 1mg next week but not sure due to the constipation every week.
I did however lose 10lb when I mistakenly took much.

How did you overdose ? Did you just keep winding the pen back up ?

AhBiscuits · 15/01/2024 10:24

I've mentioned it before but I recommend Lepicol for constipation @Ylm189
I take it days 4-7, which is when constipation kicks in for me. I take 2 teaspoon stirred into about 150ml of water then neck another cup of water first thing. It has solved the issue for me, even though taking it is unpleasant 😑

Don't you notice that the needle isn't in your skin?!

I never feel it tbh. The first thing I knew was the liquid was going everywhere but not in me! Unfortunately an expensive mistake, I will not be doing that again!

I’m a long time reader of this thread and I would like to become part of this discussion
I’ve taken my first dose of .25 today
I have put on 3stn due to an injury , over eating whilst off my feet and l cannot get motivated to lose this weight using diet and exercise
Thank you for all your contributions
It has been very helpful in getting the confidence to order and begin

PanettoneSoprano · 15/01/2024 15:29

@witte I ate four chocolate biscuits on Saturday, my first slip up too, although it has been less than two weeks! Then my period stopped on Saturday night and started again this morning. Very odd.

I've just noticed the thread is getting full, will we be starting a new one?

Editing to say I don't think the biscuits are to blame for the random bleeding, obviously 😆

Come on in @doodles55

AhBiscuits · 15/01/2024 15:44

Yes let's have a new thread.
Or do we all jump on the similarly named one and fill that before starting a Wegovy megathread?

Helene2019 · 15/01/2024 15:59

@AhBiscuits I'd be keen if someone could start a new "continuing on wegovy" type thread for those who are already on it. I find updates from regulars on the thread are motivating and there are groups of us on the same dose and moving up at the same time etc

In other news I'm supposed to move up to 1.7mg soon, but am tempted for the first time to stay on 1mg for a second month because the constipation is getting worse each increased dose.

Edited

If it helps I've eaten chocolate most days since starting and still down 17 pounds in 8 weeks!

I finally did it! Injected my first 0.25 this morning.

It's been a long time coming. I decided I would do this back in September, but put it off as I transferred to a new role at work and needed to concentrate on that. After birthday and Christmas bashes, I had some time off at Christmas which I thought would be an ideal time to start. Then I got asked to work, then on my one day off my boyfriend decided to bring his laptop over and work from my house, then I got a UTI and was on antibiotics so figured I should wait until I was well! It was getting ridiculous, I had a couple of pens ready in the fridge and really needed to start.

So far, I feel no different, but it is early days. I'm glad I read all these threads as, like everyone says, the injection is so painless you wonder if anything went in at all.

I have various plans of how I'm going to do this - I've over-thought it completely - but it will all depend on how I respond.

It's been great to read everyone's experiences. Here's hoping I can get out of the obese and overweight categories and go back to the healthy weight I was when I was forty. Emotional eating has been my downfall, so fingers crossed Wegovy will allow me to overcome that.

AhBiscuits · 15/01/2024 19:22

Good luck @Striving4Better !

Izzieloo · 15/01/2024 19:43

I've just tuned in. This isn't sounding good?

Tindrum · 15/01/2024 20:19

@Izzieloo and @OhpoorMe what programme was that? Think I missed it? What were they saying?

It's on bbc1 now. A panorama

OhpoorMe · 15/01/2024 20:25

One thing I've learned is that I've been saying wegovy wrong!

Izzieloo · 15/01/2024 20:25

No not good I suppose any pills come with side effects

AhBiscuits · 15/01/2024 20:29

A lot of it was about how it should be more available on the NHS.
On the whole, nothing I didn't know.
