I've finished my 0.5 pen and had a week off in the middle for Christmas. I had intended to continue on 0.5 but I really feel like since the break it's just not working very well. My appetite is suppressed a bit, I'm not snacking or hungry between meals, but I feel like I can eat more than before. My weight loss has stalled. I think I'm going to go on to 1mg with my next jab, even though I'm nervous of side effects. Or do I just try and count calories rather than relying on the drugs to do it for me 🤔

Jacci63 · 12/01/2024 13:04

Hello everyone, hope you are all ok?

I have lost 6.2 lbs in my first week....yay!! I was due my second jab yesterday but have decided to not take it until Saturday night. The reason for this is I had some powerful side effects last week and we are taking our grand daughter out for a meal on Saturday and I do not want to feel bad for that.

I don't intend to over indulge but I had to rearrange meeting a friend last week so do not want to feel like that on Saturday!

I have got a few little hunger stirrings but still don't want to eat which is strange but good.

Take care everyone. x

@AhBiscuits That's exactly how I feel. I really hope I can get back to that amazing place where I just didn't think about food at all :(

wego · 12/01/2024 16:03

Can anyone help me...

I tried ozempic a few months ago and got really sick once I moved up to 0.5 mg. So I stopped.

Absolutely desperate, I decided do start wegovy in November ( I know it's the same ).

My appetite has been suppressed on the 0.25 dose. Some weeks it's a bit suppressed and other weeks it's more suppressed. Some weeks I have no side effects and other weeks I get headaches and feel sick. I've been on the 0.25 dose for 7 weeks now, as I'm scared to move up.

Last weeks dose had basically no effect on my appetite at all and also no side effects.

I then injected 0.25 yesterday and I have been so unwell. Massive stomach aches during the night, sweating, diarrhoea and nausea. It all calmed down after around and hour and a half. Today I'm in bed with a migraine.

I don't understand why some weeks I have no side effects and other weeks I feel ill? I have ordered the 0.5 pen and I'm now worried to try it.

Does anyone know why some weeks are better than others ? Thank you.

What makes you think you feel ill from the injection and not from eg a bug?

wego · 12/01/2024 18:26

@OhpoorMe you're absolutely right about the occurrence last night. However, usually when I have a bug/ have eaten something bad- it would last a lot longer.

Also the other times I've felt unwell, it was like a migraine and nausea, so not really a bug.

Last night presented more like a bug, but was over a bit fast.

But you're right to point it out.

EatingTillIDie · 12/01/2024 18:43

I have similar ups and downs. Sometimes works better than others, sometimes side effects (mild for me) and sometimes none! I assume it is to do with your changing hormonal cycles, what you eat, and all sorts like that. We aren't stable beings.

Toppstileslover · 12/01/2024 19:03

1mg for the second time (to lose more) here 😊

struggling more this time! Weirdly when I did one dose of 0.5 I had terrible side effects / tummy but on 1mg it’s being a bit sluggish 😂

I am usually very active and I’ve had a trapped nerve in my back. Went to the chiro for the first time yesterday, required a minor adjustment and oh my god the pain overnight! I wasn’t expecting it.

So today I have eaten crap all day to cheer me up. Really hoping it starts to pass Soon and I’ll feel more motivated.

Want to get 2.5 stone off by end of April so need to get a scoot on. Husband is doing with me (not ozempic).

there was a v complementary article on the DM today

The palms of my hands were super itchy last night while I was feeling unwell. Has anyone else had that ? It cleared up when I felt better.

I've had very itchy hands, in fact one night I was itchy all over! I went out and bought some anti-histamines but I didn't need them after all.

Oncetwicethreetimesalady · 13/01/2024 08:55

@ProfYaffle I ordered from boots, also got approval on Sunday. Only once you’ve done all the consultation does it tell you it will take up to five days. I still haven’t got mine, today is six days. I live near a massive boots on a huge out of town shopping park which you’d think would be well supplied. Bloody rubbish.
dh ordered his from numan, got it delivered within two days.

Tindrum · 13/01/2024 09:30

@ProfYaffle i have found Asda super quick and cheaper than most if that’s any help.

DontUseYourNose · 13/01/2024 09:34

I'm a week in. I'm going to take my shot 12 hours earlier today than last week because I'm trying to gradually move my shot day from Saturday night to Friday morning to avoid issues with travelling with the pen (I'm away at weekends a lot).

I've lost 3 lbs this week. Tummy still a little funny but I'm mostly OK.

Sunflowermoonbeam · 13/01/2024 09:36

I've got my first 0.25 pen and I'm starting today. Any recommendations on best time of the day to take it?

AhBiscuits · 13/01/2024 09:56

It's hard to know @Sunflowermoonbeam because everyone reacts so differently. Some people find 0.25 does absolutely nothing at all and they don't notice the effects until they are up to 1mg. Some people find 0.25 so horrific they give up after one dose. Most fall somewhere in between.
I take mine Monday morning. I feel fine all day. The next day I feel quite sick. Wednesday I have a bit of diarrhoea. Thursday onwards, mostly fine. I tend to work from home on Tuesdays, so it suits me to have that day as the one I feel worst.

I would just crack on as soon as possible and see what happens.

Pushkinini · 13/01/2024 09:58

Second 0.25 for me today. The only noticeable side effect I've had is tiredness. Food wise, I've been super good all week, but a sneaky weigh this morning only shows a loss of 1/2lb. My official weigh day is Monday, so we'll see.

witte · 13/01/2024 10:51

Just taken 3rd lot of .25. I'm feeling less hungry and making better choices and my clothes feel looser.

I haven't weighted though as I find that counter productive.

AhBiscuits · 13/01/2024 11:31

I just wondered what else if anything people take to manage the side effects.

I take electrolyte tablets daily, which seem to have stopped any headaches. Days 1-3 I get a bit of diarrhoea but days 4-7 it switches to constipation. On those days I take Lepicol first thing. It is RANK, like drinking sawdust, but it has completely solved the issue. I take it as a shot and chase it with a cup of water and it's bearable.

Oh that's a good tip - my body is ruined by the constipation!!

I took my first 1mg today and also injected into the thigh for the first time - OWWWWW

trulyunruly01 · 13/01/2024 12:00

I was finding the slowing down of my bowel quite worrying, although it wasn't absolute constipation. (I do place importance on going regularly 😳).
I've found a few soft prunes (Tesco vacuum packed ones) thrown into my natural yogurt have sorted it out.
A week and a half in, 6lb loss and no other notable side effects.

LibbyL92 · 13/01/2024 12:32

What do you guys typically eat during a day??

DontUseYourNose · 13/01/2024 12:34

My prescription is for 4 weeks at 0.25 then 4 weeks at 0.5 and then 4 months at 1mg. I assumed 1mg was the highest dose but from comments here that's obviously not the case. I hope 1mg keeps working for me when I get there!

ProfYaffle · 13/01/2024 12:35

@Oncetwicethreetimesalady I've just picked mine up in store today. I didn't get a message so just went in, they said their prescriptions are taking up to 10 days to complete at the moment due to staff shortages. It's a bit of a worry for re-ordering new pens, I think I might switch to the Big Boots in our neighbouring city rather than my tiny local store.

ProfYaffle · 13/01/2024 12:42

@Tindrum thanks for the info. I've gone with Boots due to the reports that Asda are stopping approving them once your BMI goes under 30. Boots say they continue to BMI 23.

Tindrum · 13/01/2024 13:21

@ProfYaffle my bmi is currently 27.8 and they just prescribed my next 1mg. Might be worth ringing and speaking to someone to confirm because it is quite a saving.
