I ordered form boots and now that I’ve paid and waited for approval etc etc it tells me it will be five days before my prescription is ready to collect. Dh ordered from numan at the exact same time and has just had it delivered.
tbh I’m not that bothered about starting it myself just yet. I am fasting every day until 6pm without a problem. I have always been able to fast ok for a while but then fall off the wagon after a few weeks.
What happens is that I lose a fair bit at first and then despite staying on the fasting regime, begin to inexplicably gain weight. This was even true when I cut out all sugar (inc no bread, no pasta, no fruit other than berries) and worked out every day.
My last attempt to get fit, I got a personal trainer and was more moderate with my eating. So, again I lost 9lbs in the first 10 days. Then what was really frustrating was that according to the hi tech boditrax machine I not only gained weight, but actually lost muscle and gained fat! That was while I was going to the gym and working out hard 3 or 4 times a week. The trainer was baffled. It went on for about 12 weeks and then I really wondered why I was putting so much time and energy into this while I was apparently getting less and less healthy!
This time I am going to try to not measure too much and just focus on the fact that any better habits must make me healthier and stick with it regardless of the number on the scales. I am hoping maybe wegovy might be the extra boost I need to stick with things even if the results aren’t forthcoming on the scales.

Oh Lord. Diarrhoea has hit me this afternoon. I took my first shot on Saturday night and haven't had many symptoms.

I had an egg and a slice of toast for breakfast and a half a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch.

Should I be eating fewer carbs maybe? Or maybe I'd get this issue regardless of what I eat? Lunch seems to have triggered it.

MakeItNice · 09/01/2024 15:07

Hello!

I’d love to join please. I was approved for Wegovy by Boots today and 0.25mg will be ready in 5 days apparently. Excited!

I’ve put on loads of weight the past 13 years (38, now 19 stone, was a size 10/12 back then) but I’ve had disordered eating and body dysmorphia since I was a teen. Nothing has worked so far, mainly due to my lack of willpower but also fatigue and MH issues. I’m motivated this year though! I’ve had enough and despite no blood pressure issues or worries about pre diabetes from my doctor - I’m worried and don’t want to continue feeling this way. I’ve had a sore heel for months and hoping weight loss will help and I’m getting married end of this year and refuse to be this weight!!

thanks and sorry for the ramble! 💛

You really need to be eating fruit and veg. Maybe soup and have a sandwich for lunch would be good? Or add avocado/tomatoes/beans to your breakfast?

My doctor told me to "eat clean" on the meds. I have no idea what that means. I assumed nothing overly processed.

Is there a plan to follow specific to the drug? Does lack of fruit and veg with every meal cause diarrhoea on it? I have no issues following a plan. Feeling a bit lost.

AhBiscuits · 09/01/2024 17:55

There's no specific diet you need to follow but if I eat junk I feel absolutely dreadful.

I tend to eat
Fruit and yoghurt
Soup or a sandwich
Meat and vegetables

I also love jacket potatoes. Try and get plenty of fibre and protein.

FiveCows · 09/01/2024 18:12

I’m amazed at how little I can eat as a meal.
Only 1/4 to 1/2 a sandwich
or
soup is great
or
a banana
I just can’t eat more - makes me feel really Bleugh

EC22 · 09/01/2024 18:24

I find eating fruit & vegetables gives me sulphur burps. Not ideal when trying to be healthy.

AhBiscuits · 09/01/2024 20:31

I've just fessed up to DH about being on it. He's become increasingly confused about my behaviour. He just watched me leave half my dinner and asked if I'd secretly had a gastric band 😆So I told him. Luckily he's not too annoyed about the secrecy.

Annwithout · 09/01/2024 20:45

I can't tell you how happy I am to find you all.
Had my third .25 dose yesterday and have ordered a .50 pen though Boots.
It really seems like some kind of witchcraft to change my brain from not constantly thinking about food, thinking about my next meal while still in the middle of the current one - is this how thin people live?
I lost 5 pounds in the first week but only 1 in the second, but I guess you can't complain about 6 pounds in 2 weeks.
The effect definitely wears off for me after around 5 days, would love to be able to top up then and live this magical life without the constant "food noise" - thank you so much to whoever came up with that term.
I haven't had much in the way of bad side effects, I already have IBS so it's just more of the same with the addition of some epic burps when I get up in the morning.
Thank you so much for your company!

So I wrote this message just after my 3rd .25 and was feeling wonderful, madly in love with Wegovy and absence of food noise.
I took a complete week off as I had a big early Christmas dinner to cook. Since then I finished my .25s and had my third 0.5 yesterday but the one week break took me right back to the beginning and I still haven't got to the place where you don't think about food all the time. I'm really trying hard to keep on the wagon but I need some hope that it's finally going to kick in again.

I'm trying to focus on the fact that I've lost 12 pounds overall and should be happy with that.
Has anyone else had this after a relatively short break?

Lol! I’m glad your husband wasn’t annoyed… it is funny though that he asked if you had a gastric band 🤣

Oh no this sounds really frustrating. I haven’t had a break so can’t give you any help on that respect… just really feel for you. I think you get used to lack of food noise and when it creeps in again it’s disheartening…
I do find some days easier than others… maybe it just needs to build back up on your body again?

I’ve had this a couple of times, but put mine down to either overeating or eating fatty/rich food…
I seem to be ok if I’m careful with portion size and limit the sweet stuff… funny enough my lunch the other week triggered it and I’d had poached egg on toast 🤔

Diarrhoea is common for me on day 3. I only had it badly week 1, it lessened every time after that.

anoldcharter · 10/01/2024 08:39

welcome and good luck to all those just starting, I hope the food noise disappears for you soon @Annwithout and that the diarrhoea subsides @DontUseYourNose

I've been feeling absolutely fine on it (it is only my second week) but woke this morning to horrible nausea, I made some protein blueberry overnight oats to eat, tried a couple of mouthfuls but feel bluerghhh, I've forced a few more spoonful's down in the hope it'll help, we will see.

Starting Pilates class tonight, not much for exercise but really want to start doing something to help, anyone found any issues with exercise while taking wegovy?

Moirarosesgarden · 10/01/2024 08:59

Just finished week 1 on 0.25
I’ve had absolutely no negative side effects yet and was also on my period this week but have lost 5.5 pounds. A lot of that will have been the Christmas excess coming off but have not been hungry at all despite eating around 1200/1300 calories a day (I’m using nutracheck to keep tabs) so am hoping this is the start of a good amount of loss.

Starting weight: 15s 7.5
Week one: 15s 2 (-5.5)

just taken my second dose and have ordered the 0.5 to start in a few weeks (I was paranoid there may be shortages so got in early!) Next week’s loss will be much smaller I’m sure… also away this weekend so will be eating out a lot! Will try and make good choices!

Gingerlygreen · 10/01/2024 10:49

I've just taken my first 1mg shot, it was a bit unnerving to see how far you have to turn the dial and then it takes longer to administer.

I'm still convinced my 4th 0.5 shot wasn't the full dose, I've had 7 easy weeks with no appetite and the usual symptoms then this last week the hunger is back and no symptoms, I've injected a day early because the temptation to pick was huge.

I've read a few people were sick after jumping up to 1mg and I'm hoping I'm not one of them, I finish work at 12 until Monday so at least I've got 5 days to lie in my bed if I need to!

MonaChopsis · 10/01/2024 10:51

I have just ordered my first dose 😊 50, heaviest I've ever been, started the couch to 5k with a friend in early December which is going well, but still struggling to regulate my eating. I'm hoping this will help me continue with the better lifestyle choices I've been trying to make.

Gingerlygreen · 10/01/2024 10:53

@AhBiscuits it'll be nice having your dh on board, no need to hide the pens and of you get symptoms he'll know why.

@Annwithout I read somewhere about the half life of Wegovy so it's probably that it's all out of your system, you did really well on it and I'm sure it'll be working it's magic for you very soon.

GracePalmer33 · 10/01/2024 13:23

Just taken my second dose. I've not lost anything on the scales this week which I was surprised at since I've definitely been eating at a deficit. Hopefully my body is just adjusting and I'll start losing. I've had no negative side effects as far as I can tell

trulyunruly01 · 10/01/2024 15:01

I took my second dose yesterday.
I lost 3lb in the first week but definitely found the 24/36hrs up to the second dose much harder. Snacks/carby foods were really calling and unfortunately I caved.
Going to have to watch that as it was a weekend plus I have a night shift every Monday and the night was looooong and there was shortbread in the office. I wish my injection day was Thursday now.

Not much at all in the way of side effects, I'm pleased to say. Finding the slowing down of my digestion rather disconcerting as I've always been a 'once a day, every day' type, sorry tmi.

I told my dh as soon as I'd taken the first injection, so that he knew what was causing the sudden growth of a second head (catastrophise, me??)

PanettoneSoprano · 10/01/2024 15:19

Hi everyone, so great to read everyone's updates.

@Babydavies1 I cannot BELIEVE they gave you the wrong pen! No wonder you were so unwell! Have you managed to swap for a 0.25 one?

I took my first dose last Wednesday and had no effects or appetite suppression. I have been eating clean, religiously counting calories, and keeping a food diary and have stayed under 1,200 kcals a day, except Saturday which was almost 2,000! I've also been getting my steps in, drinking loads of water, no alcohol, and doing all the things us Losers are supposed to do.

I spend most of the day feeling pretty peckish 😕and it's been hard work trying to not think about food. The only thing saving me from myself is the fact we have no snacks in the house.

I took my second 0.25 dose on Monday because I couldn't wait any longer 😬

@donkey86 I've been having absolutely mental dreams as well. They're really vivid and seem to last a long time, like a full story will play out in my sleep. That's been quite interesting at least.

ReachingLighthouse · 10/01/2024 15:43

Can I ask what side effects everyone is experiencing? I am thinking seriously about trying thos but have heard you can get a lot of gut and bowel issues.

Also for those on it for a month or more what have your results been like?

EC22 · 10/01/2024 17:47

I started November. I have had a few episodes of vomiting. Sulphur burps but nothing that isn’t manageable.

I have been extremely tired but I was unwell over new year so not sure if that’s why or if it’s the injections.
