Have put on just over half a stone in the last few months. BMI still within range, but am short so makes a difference in how I feel and how my clothes fit.
Would love to think I could get it off in a few weeks, but realistically in my 50’s, menopausal plus being greedy and loving wine, this won’t be happening 😩.
I have signed up to Nutracheck as so much more user friendly than MFP and am hoping will keep me accountable.
I find daily weighing helps and will be trying to log my weight on here….

SW 60.8 kg
CW 60.8 kg
TW 55 kg

Would love some support from others feeling similar!

Hi Lucie,i should join you, I've got about a stone to lose, like you I am still a healthy bmi but just not feeling great about myself.
I started calorie counting a few days ago, will be using mfp as i am not familiar with nutracheck but maybe i should have a look.

I'll try and log my weight here as well..

SW: 66kg
CW:64.6kg
TW: 60kg

BeardyButton · 25/08/2023 14:58

Me too!

CW 63kg
TW 60kg

I just feel so sluggish and tired. I also feel so unfit. I want to overhaul my life. Drink more water, less caffeine and alcohol, more veg less carbs. And I need to improve my fitness. I feel if I don’t do it now, I could easily slide into overweight as am peri menopausal.

Bubbles254 · 25/08/2023 18:00

Can I join? I am trying to maintain at the moment having just got down from 62kg to my target weight of 50kg. I am still weighing daily and oddly finding maintaining harder than loosing as I am not getting the re-enforcement of the scales changing. I am also trying to build muscle whilst loose fat so still watching diet.

Lucie11 · 25/08/2023 18:30

Very pleased to have some friends to join me!

It’s difficult when you don’t have a lot to lose, half the time you feel ‘ok’ but not really yourself. I find feeling heavier than I would like really affects my mood.

@Bubbles254 , of course you can join. You can be our inspiration and give us tips on how you’ve managed such an amazing loss! And I agree, the battle to keep it off is real! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to do this. Very tedious 🙄

Morning!

Weighed earlier - small loss, down to 60.5kg. Food was good yesterday, but went out last night and had several glasses of wine.

Now to try and stay on track for the rest of the weekend. Out this afternoon/evening so it’s going to be a challenge.

BaconAndAvocado · 26/08/2023 11:59

Hi all, can I join too?
I definitely fall into this category.
My BMI is ok but if I don’t change my eating habits soon, it won’t be!

I’d like to lose half a stone too.
I’m 5’ 5” and weigh 63kg.
I’m menopausal and have developed an extremely sweet tooth which I know I need to curb.

My plan is to start eating more healthily from 1st September!

Lucie11 · 26/08/2023 13:44

@BaconAndAvocado absolutely, the more the merrier!

Feel like I need support as don’t feel comfortable discussing in real life as people think you’re bonkers (I can see why some might wonder why I’d be worrying about a few pounds), but you can’t help the way you feel!

OP posts:
BaconAndAvocado · 26/08/2023 13:50

Yes, most of the time I can look slim in clothes but I’m very aware of how tight my jeans feel. Ands I don’t want to go up a size.

It’s also about feeling sluggish because of unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise. Something definitely needs to change!

There’s been 2 family birthdays, GCSE and other exam celebrations recently so I’ve been overeating loads.

A friend does intermittent fasting and looks glowing and healthy. Not sure if I’ve got the self-discipline but I’d love to give it a try!

Lucie11 · 26/08/2023 14:39

Same here, just back from a two week holiday but hadn’t made the effort to drop a few pounds before we went like I usually do. Didn’t let it spoil my holiday, but I didn’t feel very good in myself and I didn’t hold back whilst away 😂.

Pumpkin2901 · 26/08/2023 15:03

Hi, I'd like to join please. Just got back off holiday today so I'm not 100% sure of my weight at the moment, but it'll be around 60kg. Aiming to get to 55kg.

SW 60kg (approx, will weigh in the morning)
TW 55kg

... I plan on counting calories on Nutracheck and getting plenty of protein in (I struggle with this as a vegetarian)

dueindecember10 · 27/08/2023 06:51

Hi, please could I join. I’m starting afresh today after a summer of over indulgence. I keep on starting the day well then going off track after dinner. Some accountability would really help me.

OrangeSofa1 · 27/08/2023 09:10

Hello! I’ve just signed up to nutracheck after seeing it mentioned on here. It has already stopped my grazing as I can’t be bothered to input it on the app!
I’ve just started HRT and don’t want more weight to go on as already 2 (well 3) stone overweight. I’m a shortie too so it shows. And I like wine too much.

BaconAndAvocado · 27/08/2023 09:28

Nutracheck is great. I used it to do the 5:2 a couple of years ago.
But here I am again.....

Had my very healthy, go to breakfast of Greek yoghurt, fruit and seeds.
It’s after breakfast that it generally all goes to pot!

BaconAndAvocado · 27/08/2023 09:28

OrangeSofa1 has HRT made you put on weight?

Lucie11 · 27/08/2023 09:59

Welcome everyone who has joined, great to have some allies in the camp!

@BaconAndAvocado I have been on HRT for just over 2 years - not sure if it has made me put on weight. I’m definitely fatter around my stomach, but that could down to not watching everything so carefully.

What I do know is from age 49, what always worked for shifting pounds quite quickly (calorie counting) and only really being strict for 4/5 days, no longer seems to work as well. Up until then, I should shift 7 pounds in about a month and that wasn’t cutting out carbs etc and drinking wine didn’t seem to make much difference if I was watching my food intake.
Not sure why it’s suddenly so much harder… must be age or hormones or both. Sigh

Not yet but I have heard it can and just want to nip it in the bud. I am the sort of person who can look at something and put on half a stone!

Yes, I believe that our metabolism alters when we hit menopause.
For me, regarding eating, menopause has given a much sweeter tooth than before.
I really want to cut down on my sugar intake but can never find tasty, healthy snack substitutes.

My holy grail of healthy eating would be to have a cup of tea WITHOUT a biscuit, chocolate bar, slice of cake etc.
Does anyone actually do this IRL? 🤣

Lucie11 · 27/08/2023 10:46

Haha, I don’t drink tea so that’s not a problem!

My biggest issue is too much wine and I love eating crisps, nuts etc alongside it.

To be honest, I’ve always had to watch my weight since puberty really…fortunately outside from pregnancy/post pregnancy I’ve never been very overweight but have never been in the position that a lot of teenagers/20’s are in that they could eat as much as they liked and stay slim.

Writing that down is depressing…almost 40 years of thinking about what I am or am not eating 🙄. Maybe because the years of having to watch it means it’s ingrained and that’s why it’s never got very out of hand? I suppose that’s kind of positive!

OP posts:
acquiescence · 27/08/2023 11:42

Hi, I’m in a similar position! I’m 60kg and goal around 54 although 55 is more realistic. I’m late 30s and 6 month post partum from my 4th baby so slowly working my way back to where I want to be. I feel ok now but my stomach is bad. Breastfeeding so can eat a reasonable amount. I use nutracheck but not consistently.

I try to do a vague intermittent fasting thing where I basically have my breakfast really late. Usually eggs and lots of veg, stops me eating so much through the rest of the day. G&T most evenings.

Pumpkin2901 · 27/08/2023 18:37

Weigh in this morning at 59kg. I'd like to get to 56kg, so not loads to lose. I've been stuck here for a while though, the last few are definitely the hardest.

My biggest weakness is red wine and chocolate at the weekends. 😬🍷🍫

BaconAndAvocado · 27/08/2023 19:07

Luckily, I don’t drink but I more than make up for it with chocolate, biscuits etc.

Just ordered the new Jamie Oliver book, 5 ingredients Mediterranean. Use his first 5 ingredients book a lot so this one sounds good.

JollyJellyCat · 27/08/2023 20:58

Would like to join please! Motivation has been lacking lately and I'm most of a stone above where I'd like to be. I like to weigh daily too. Weakness is snaccidents.

10st3 this morning.

HappyDaze23 · 28/08/2023 03:31

I’d like to join too please. I’m currently around 10st 7lb and would like to be 9st 7lb, so a stone to lose ideally, but I’d be happy to just drop below 10st. I haven’t managed to get back to my pre pregnancy weight after DS who is nearly 2. I’m 43 and I think hormones might be starting to play a part in weight gain as I seem to be gaining more easily despite eating less!

My weaknesses are chocolate, cake and wine. I do walk a lot and do 2xPT sessions a week, but I think I will start running again. Meals and portion sizes aren’t bad, it’s the snacking and treats that are the problem.

I’m on holiday right now so that’s not making easy but I’m doing my best and will start in earnest on 1st September.

Hungryfrogs23 · 28/08/2023 03:54

Hello 👋

Would I be able to join? I'm in a slightly different position to most of the posts so far in that I'm early 30s and 12 weeks post partum and breastfeeding.

The late nights, early mornings and interrupted sleep means I'm turning to caffeine and sugar far too much to get through the day!

I also have a 6 year old DD. My days are busy and I've lost some of the pregnancy gain but I still have a little more to go to feel like myself again.

Finding it hard to find support in real life as most people's reply is that I don't need to lose weight but I don't feel happy and comfortable as I am and my clothes don't fit well. I'm very short so don't carry it well either!

SW 10st 5lbs
CW 9st 10lbs
TW 8st 8lbs

Lucie11 · 28/08/2023 09:39

Everyone is welcome @HappyDaze23 @Hungryfrogs23 @JollyJellyCat .

Forgot to post my weight yesterday 60.1 which I was pleased with.
Today I’m 60.6 😬.
This is going to be slow and painful I think!
All I can do is just keep plodding on and hopefully it will come off.
I am only weighing in kg as the increments are will show even a tiny loss (or gain!)
