Have put on just over half a stone in the last few months. BMI still within range, but am short so makes a difference in how I feel and how my clothes fit.
Would love to think I could get it off in a few weeks, but realistically in my 50’s, menopausal plus being greedy and loving wine, this won’t be happening 😩.
I have signed up to Nutracheck as so much more user friendly than MFP and am hoping will keep me accountable.
I find daily weighing helps and will be trying to log my weight on here….

SW 60.8 kg
CW 60.8 kg
TW 55 kg

Would love some support from others feeling similar!

I'm at 9st 7lb which is the lightest I've been in years.

I've figured out my weak point.....night time scoffing on the sofa.
I still gave a couple of sweet treats in the day but, once I've had dinner at 6pm ish, that's it.

BaconAndAvocado · 15/11/2023 07:27

Bloody Nora, I’ve just weighed myself and it said 9st 5lb….. I waited for the error sign to appear but it didn’t.
Not sure how that’s happened but I’ll take it!

Summerscomin · 15/11/2023 20:05

Nice bonus @BaconAndAvocado it's nice when there's a whoosh in the right direction! My insomnia seems to have calmed down a little and that's the only real reason I can see for my recent losses.
First day back(ish) and I've done alright. Taking myself for a bath before I undo it all!

Lucie11 · 15/11/2023 20:29

@Summerscomin sounds like you’re doing something right! And glad your insomnia is better, so hard to eat healthily when you feel knackered.

@BaconAndAvocado amazing news. Tell me EXACTLY what you’ve been doing (or not doing 😂). I need to try another tactic I think….

BaconAndAvocado · 16/11/2023 09:21

Lucie11
What I've been doing is probably not very healthy at all but works for me in the short term.

Monday-Thursday I have approximately 800-1000 calories a day and don't eat anything after dinner.
Friday-Sunday I eat what I want and I have a very sweet tooth 😀

Lucie11 · 17/11/2023 08:07

I don’t think that’s unhealthy @BaconAndAvocado, it’s a bit like the 5:2 but stretched over 4 days! And if it’s working….
What does your food look like for an 800-1000 calorie day? I might give this a go! I have done 5:2 in the past but 500 calls is too hardcore for me.

OP posts:
BaconAndAvocado · 17/11/2023 08:52

Yes, 500cals a step too far for me too!
So for breakfast I have some Greek yoghurt, berries (which I heat up to add more flavour) and seeds.
Lunch is usually a salad with rocket, radishes, hard-boiled egg, crab sticks, tomatoes.
Dinner is what everyone is having minus the carbs and a small portion.
I also have 2 treats...a couple of biscuits with a cup of tea and a treat size Milky Way.

Lucie11 · 21/12/2023 13:50

I am definitely going to resurrect this thread in the New Year. Have basically been coasting along making zero progress 😬.
Jeans pretty tight, about the same as when I started this off!
I just haven’t been able to get my head in the game for any length of time, so it’s been a case of drop a few pounds, put them back on, rinse and repeat 🙄.
Why does it seem so hard to lose 7-10 pounds and keep it off?!!
Hope everyone doing well and looking forward to Christmas

I will be re joining too. I was nearly at my goal weight and then had 10 weeks of some horrible virus then covid, zero exercises since the beginning of December and fellnof the wagon again. Only started to feel myself again so hopefully i will sort myself out in the near year.

HappyDaze23 · 30/12/2023 07:31

Hi! I’m up for rejoining too! I’ve lost about 2lb but to be honest I’m still in the territory of putting them back on again. I don’t understand why it is so hard to lose 7-10lb! Not this week though as we’re going away on Monday, but after that!

I have been exercising - I do two hours of PT a week plus 10-14k steps a day. I’m so much more toned and much happier with my bum/belly/arms but I’m thinking of adding running for cardio and fat/calorie burn. I’ll need to do couch25k I think.

BaconAndAvocado · 30/12/2023 12:59

Hi Lucie11 and everyone else.

So here I am again.... I haven’t weighed myself recently and this time last year I’d got up to 10st 4lb!

Definitey want to overhaul my eating habits in the new year....she said as she tucked into another slice of Christmas cake 🤨

I’m considering doing intermittent fasting and/or trying to be veggie for a month. Don’t think Veganuary is for me, might be too much of a jump.

Agiftandacurse · 30/12/2023 15:54

I’m in. I’d like to get my BMI under 22 again (probably that magic half a stone!). I started 27th but will be more focused when I’m back at work. Cutting out snacks atm… overall I’m pretty healthy so might need to cut back on more than snacks

SpongeBlobSquareFace · 31/12/2023 08:10

I need to lose a stone and get fit. We have been living with in laws while extension gets finished and I've completely stopped going for walks and doing any weights/ Pilates. I've put on at least a stone and completely flabby in middle. Menopause not helping.
I want to lose inches and get back to under 9 stone. I'm around 5ft4
I lost a lot of weight 18 months ago due to having IBS, acid reflux, hiatal hernia etc. Acid reflux has gone thankfully but I'm shapeless.

Start weight 58.3kg
Goal weight 54kg

Lucie11 · 01/01/2024 10:40

Happy New Year everyone!
I feel absolutely hideous….bloated, tired and just like I’m full of poison 😩
Far, far too many glasses of wine over the festive period and although I’ve had a lot of healthy food, there’s been far too much crap too.
Plan for today and next couple of weeks is minimal alcohol and to eat proper, healthy food.
Def feel like a I need a total reset!

OP posts:
HippoHotel · 01/01/2024 21:39

Please can I join? I’m at 65 kilos and wish I was 60. I was 60 (most recently for about 6 months just before lockdown) and felt and looked so much better, but since it’s gone back on I can’t seek to shift it.

I blame two things. One is the peri/menopause (I’m 52) which seems to have slowed down my metabolism to the point where it’s got about as much oomph as my teenage kids in the morning, and the second is my will power. It’s crap. I wake up with endless good intentions every day and by evening I’m scoffing leftover chips off the baking tray! I need a reason to check in and hold myself accountable.

I’m planning to do fairly dry January, bar this Wednesday as I’m out (see note further up about willpower), cut out cakes and biscuits, and possibly go caffeine free for January too. I hope it works. My target is March as I am away for a weekend and I don’t want to have to undo the button on my jeans the moment I sit down on the plane! Help me get there please!!

HandShoe · 02/01/2024 16:53

Room for a ‘not so little anymore’ one? After a couple of years of gently losing weight 2023 saw me gain most of it back. Not entirely sure how - I think perimenopause is the main problem. Currently up to my pre pandemic weight of 144lb and could do with getting back to 134lb. Doing dry January (but unlikely to make much difference as I rarely drink), logging in MFP and doing Zoe (although I rarely log food as it’s a faff). Also hoping to get my running back on track and do regular weights.

Lucie11 · 03/01/2024 11:33

Room for all @HandShoe and @HippoHotel.
how is everyone doing now the festivities are done and we are all getting back to normal?
I haven’t braved the scales yet, not sure I’m ready for that!
This week is all about early nights, no alcohol and mainly decent food with plenty of veg.
Felt dire yesterday despite a healthy day on the 1st, but had overindulged so much that I think it will take a few days to feel good. That said, feeling much better today thankfully!
WFH today, but made myself wear (very tight) jeans to remind myself to stay on the straight and narrow.

OP posts:
BaconAndAvocado · 03/01/2024 19:51

So I’m currently 9st 11lb which is a huge improvement on this time
last year.

3 days into being veggie (pescatarian) and so far so good.....might find it hard when everyone else is tucking into their Sunday roast in a few days time!

Also got my first lot of HRT yesterday. The GP prescribed 2 different tablets/patches....I need to take the tablet 2 hours before eating and I had to think whether I could manage that 🤣 It’s been non stop grazing on chocolates, tortilla chips, nuts, Christmas cake........it’s almost all gone now thank Christ.

HappyDaze23 · 04/01/2024 03:55

We’re on holiday this week, mostly self catering and it’s a mixed bag - eating lots of fruit, snacking much less, and lots of salad and fairly healthy meals but also having the odd ice ream and a glass of wine or two in the evenings. Not sweating it whilst we’re away but will start in earnest next Tuesday when we’re all back at school/work. I’m feeling fairly determined. My plan is low carb, low sugar, and to add running 5k 2-3 times a week to my 2x 1 hour PT sessions. I’ll probably calorie count to keep in check. Id like to lose 10lb and I think that’s realistic.

WinterSalad · 04/01/2024 07:43

Can I join? I think 8lbs off would make a huge difference to how clothes fit and how I feel. I’m technically solidly within healthy BMI still but I went into Christmas feeling fluffy and a couple of weeks of booze, treats and no routine haven’t helped matters at all. I’ve also got a persistent cough lingering that’s putting me off exercising as the slightest bit of exertion sets it off.

Agiftandacurse · 04/01/2024 08:33

The winter cough sounds very much like me last year @WinterSalad its awful for exercise isn’t it 🥺

im a week into diet. Not weighed myself at all yet though. But feel more normal. Aim is to get flat stomach in 2 months and keep it for 2024!

HandShoe · 04/01/2024 16:53

Doing ok at the new regime. (all 4 days😄) I haven't done much exercise yet - just walking up until a short run today - as I'm letting my body adjust to the drop in calories after the Xmas excess. I've been good at logging in MFP and eating a wider variety of veg/fruit.
Wish the weather would improve - the rain doesn't help my motivation.

Lucie11 · 03/03/2024 13:08

I realised this thread died at the beginning of January!
I got off to an ok start, but then the January blues kicked in and I couldn’t be bothered.
However, I have stopped wine drinking during the week and have massively cut down on my consumption over the weekends too..trying to stick to 1-1.5 bottles in total. I would rather have a couple of glasses of wine than say, a slice of cake.

CW 58.7kg
GW 55kg

Have been logging everything on Nutracheck the last 3 weeks religiously….progress is very slow, I’m not cutting out any food groups, but very mindful of keeping biscuits, crisps and other junk to a minimum.

Want to get this final half a stone off!

Would love to hear how anyone else is doing.

OP posts:
7poundstogo · 04/03/2024 09:31

I'll join you @Lucie11

I need as much accountability as possible as shifting this last half a stone is hard.

I'm cutting right down on processed carbs and upping the protein. I'm trying to strengthen my core with yoga and pilates at home so I can get into proper exercise again this summer.

Really want to wear my spring/summer clothes this year as haven't fitted into them for 2 summers now!

Agiftandacurse · 07/03/2024 02:08

I seem to have hit a wall. If I reduce calories further I wake up hungry (like now!) and can’t get back to sleep. Maybe because I exercise a lot not sure. But I’m not losing at all which is frustrating
