Have put on just over half a stone in the last few months. BMI still within range, but am short so makes a difference in how I feel and how my clothes fit.
Would love to think I could get it off in a few weeks, but realistically in my 50’s, menopausal plus being greedy and loving wine, this won’t be happening 😩.
I have signed up to Nutracheck as so much more user friendly than MFP and am hoping will keep me accountable.
I find daily weighing helps and will be trying to log my weight on here….

SW 60.8 kg
CW 60.8 kg
TW 55 kg

Would love some support from others feeling similar!

I've just seen this today and would love to join. I'm 46, 5ft5 and struggling to lose weight thanks to hypothyroidism and peri. I'm at my heaviest I've ever been and that's after 3 pregnancies!

CW 154.3 lbs
TW 135 lbs

Feeling the FLAB more in the heat. Not healthy !!'

GadgetArms · 05/09/2023 07:57

I'm trying to avoid calorie counting, find it too much of a faff and it's easy to become obsessed with numbers.

I know what I have to do (I just don't like it 😂):

-More exercise including weights
-Really strict with chocolate, biscuits, crisps etc. All removed from the house.
-Less booze (allowing myself some leeway for a nice glass of wine).
-No bread (smaller carb portions in general)
-More fruit and veg.

Had a good day yesterday though and did a work out so motivated again today.

I think I've sadly reached an age where I can no longer eat what I want and stay fairly thin.

Hungryfrogs23 · 05/09/2023 08:02

Morning :)
After a very difficult few days (my newborn was taken quite seriously ill on Thursday and we have been in hospital since) we are finally home this morning.
Silver lining is I've lost 2lbs but as most of that was stress and not eating, I am not sure it will be a permanent loss. But very nice to see the scales under 60kg for the first time in a while! (59.7kg)

SW 10st 5lbs (65.7kg)
CW 9st 5lbs (59.7kg)
TW 8st 8lbs (54.5kg)

BaconAndAvocado · 05/09/2023 11:09

Hungryfrogs23
So sorry to hear that but glad your baby is better.

GadgetArms · 05/09/2023 14:13

That sounds awful @Hungryfrogs23, glad everything is ok now.

DearRose · 05/09/2023 14:46

Oh no @Hungryfrogs23 that sounds so stressful! Glad your little one is back at home.

Job interview today so I've been a bit quiet on here in the run up to that... Turns out if you're feeling hungry, it's harder to tell if you're nervous! DS also has a mystery virus so will be off nursery tomorrow. What a week.

I think I might also see the scales tip round to under 60kg by the weekend too 🤞

@GadgetArms I'm basically doing the same except no booze... Must resist temptation to have a glass this evening because of the interview!

Pumpkin2901 · 05/09/2023 16:52

Well I'm doing terribly 😩.

I bounced back up again and have stayed the same all week.

I'm doing well with exercise but have decided I'm fed up of calorie counting and am just going to eat healthily.

Well, that's not working and I must be eating too much.

I'm at a loss because I have calorie counted before but find it too restrictive. I couldn't do intermittent fasting because I feel like I can't function without breakfast. I need some energy in the morning!

Lucie11 · 05/09/2023 20:07

@Hungryfrogs23 sorry to hear you’ve had such a worrying time. I hope your baby is ok now. I can’t eat if I’m really worried, it’s like my throat closes up.
Even though you lose weight without trying, it’s such an awful feeling that I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

My week going ok, haven’t weighed but will later in the week. After the weekend, a stay the same will be as good as I can hope for.
Feeling so tired this week, I should feel great as only 2 weeks since I got back from a holiday and have been watching my alcohol intake, eating healthily and getting early nights. What’s all that about?!

Nounderwireplease · 05/09/2023 20:25

Could I please join? Last summer I was 54kg and I felt really good at this weight. I’m currently 57.4kg and feel like a slug. I’m also very short and half a stone makes a big difference to me. I find it so hard to lose. I kind of do intermittent fasting but I drink coffee with milk and usually have a couple of biscuits … so actually what I do is have coffee and biscuits until 1pm then I eat lunch 😬. Going to try and start running again as I find this helps reduce food intake. Oh and I’m 36.

CW: 57.4kg
TW: 54kg

Heronatemygoldfish · 06/09/2023 22:24

This week's been rubbish so far. Gone up a lb but can mostly blame our family "last day of school holidays" meal which was mostly fatty carbs. (Nachos with all the trimmings - lovely but ooops). Onward and downwards!

CW 67.6kg
TW 62.0kg

dueindecember10 · 07/09/2023 05:59

Just checking in. Things are going in the right direction but sloooowly. I know that slow and steady wins the race but hard not to get too disheartened.

SW - 66.5kg
CW - 64.3kg
TW - 61.9kg

Well done for everyone's efforts so far.

iloveyoghurt · 07/09/2023 07:11

The last few days since i joined in haven't been too bad, i think the hot weather helps and i am generally drinking more water and eating less, yesterday i weight 55.4kg
SW 55.9
CW 55.4
TW 52/53 kg

GadgetArms · 07/09/2023 09:16

Been very good the past few days, the family haven't complained about the healthier evening meals either 👍.

I'm worried about the weekend though, got a party on Saturday with a buffet, I cannot restrain myself at those things!!

Will weigh after one week.

Hungryfrogs23 · 07/09/2023 11:53

@Heronatemygoldfish I feel your pain. A small gain here from our last day of school holidays meal (an AMAZING afternoon tea which was totally worth the calories!)
But I'm back on it today and getting the bike tyres pumped up so I can do the morning school run on the bike next week.

Heronatemygoldfish · 07/09/2023 12:14

@Hungryfrogs23 :-) I was back on the bike too yesterday. Thankfully DS takes himself to school these days so I've been able to abandon the car on my commute and go both greener and fitter !

I have a month to going for afternoon tea somewhere. Should be almost target by the time I get to it - I hope! Good incentive. (Carbs are absolutely my weakness.)

Back to 67.0 kg this morning. Flipping glycogen+water weight... I also find it hard to lose if it's hot; I suspect I hang onto water more for that too.

Summerscomin · 07/09/2023 12:15

Buffets are hard @GadgetArms good luck! If there's any greenery/salads they're usually untouched so I tend to raid those first. Can't resist the beige bits though!
I'm sticking with Tuesday weigh day and my starting weight was slightly higher than I thought- period due and I had a few bad days in the lead up- so 10st5. Aiming for 9 something.

The hot weather is throwing me a bit but I've stocked up on salad bits. The heat weirdly makes me hungrier! Just cooking a jacket potato for lunch.

I decided to (broadly) follow slimming world principles/make an effort to cook from scratch more, and also eat a bit more regularly. Previously I didn't really bother with lunch, then I'd eat so much over the course of the afternoon and at my evening meal I'd end up feeling bloated and sick.
So lunch, and sensible portions now!

BaconAndAvocado · 07/09/2023 15:35

Will be weighing in for the first time tomorrow morning.

Had yoghurt and fruit fur brekkie, mackerel and salad for lunch and will be having a Jamie Oliver fish and veg dish for dinner.

Unfortunately, one of my clients gave me a box of Waitrose Rose and Pistachio shortbread biscuits yesterday and I've eaten 3 today 😭

When I looked, I discovered that they're 96 cals EACH! Bloody he'll they're delicious though.

Better get back to the rich teas....

Lucie11 · 07/09/2023 17:35

Hi everyone,

I am just plodding on, small loss yesterday of a few hundred grams

SW 60.8
CW 59.5
TW 55 kg

Sooo slow……caved and had one glass of Prosecco in the garden last night. Fairly good on the food front, but I don’t get that fast loss of the first few pounds any more. Going away mid October for a few days, would really like to be 57 something by then.

BaconAndAvocado · 08/09/2023 09:33

First weigh in and I’m very pleased!

I’ve lost 2.75lb in less than a week and am now 9st 10.25lb.
Target weight is 9st 7lb so not too far to go, although I realise that I won’t be losing as quickly in weeks to come.

I’ve cut down massively on the amount of processed foods I was eating but still having a couple of biscuits a day!
And have stopped eating anything after dinner.
I’ve been here before, it’s now about maintaining these healthy habits.......

Lucie11 · 08/09/2023 13:59

@BaconAndAvocado fantastic! That’s a great loss in less than a week, no wonder you’re delighted.

I am down slightly to 59.3kg…hoping to keep on track over the weekend as much as I can.

OP posts:
BaconAndAvocado · 08/09/2023 14:35

Thanks Lucie11 I am delighted !
I’m going to relax over the weekend but try really hard not to go mad.

Well done you, all losses are positive.

Summerscomin · 10/09/2023 14:58

Great loss @BaconAndAvocado well done. My plan was also to relax a little over the weekend but not go too mad @Lucie11 , I think I've just about managed it although I haven't decided what to have for tea yet which is a danger.
How's everyone done/doing?

BaconAndAvocado · 10/09/2023 18:46

Just got back from a bbq.
Not too bad, had a burger and bit of the bun, potato salad and couscous salad. Then a choc ice but it was very nice 😂

Back on it tomorrow!
