Have put on just over half a stone in the last few months. BMI still within range, but am short so makes a difference in how I feel and how my clothes fit.
Would love to think I could get it off in a few weeks, but realistically in my 50’s, menopausal plus being greedy and loving wine, this won’t be happening 😩.
I have signed up to Nutracheck as so much more user friendly than MFP and am hoping will keep me accountable.
I find daily weighing helps and will be trying to log my weight on here….

SW 60.8 kg
CW 60.8 kg
TW 55 kg

Would love some support from others feeling similar!

Lucie11
I like your idea of weighing in kg rather then lb, so you see more of a loss!

Still on holiday eating mode here. But will begin properly on 4th September, start of a new term!

JollyJellyCat · 28/08/2023 12:47

@HappyDaze23 my dd is nearly 2 as well! It's thr broken nights (still . . . ) that mean I cave to snacks.

Weight just fell off after ds but not this time.

10st1 this morning.

Hungryfrogs23 · 29/08/2023 10:13

So what is everyone doing to lose the weight?

I've decided not to be too ambitious (and inevitably fail!) I have to accept that with a newborn I'm going to be tired and turn to caffeine but I'm trying to focus on one small change each week.

This week is doing a 10 min work out 5 times during the week. 10 mins because I know its short enough that I have no excuse not to 😄🙈

Next week will be no eating after 8pm.

Edited to add: 9st 9.4 this morning.

timmothysmith01 · 29/08/2023 14:30

Hello, It makes complete sense that weight changes could have an impact on how we feel and how our clothes fit. Keep in mind that you should treat yourself nicely and concentrate on your entire health rather than simply the scale’s reading. Nutracheck appears to be a useful tool for helping you maintain accountability and monitor your progress. It can also be quite beneficial to be in a supportive environment. Maintain your efforts and the daily weighing schedule. There are many people out there experiencing things similar to yours, so you are not alone. Continue to be optimistic and to work for your objectives.

Lucie11 · 29/08/2023 17:24

@Hungryfrogs23, I am calorie counting using Nutracheck. First time I’ve used it, so far I think it’s great and far better than MFP.

weight today same as yesterday 60.6kg….my work trousers are feeling very uncomfortable so I’m really hoping I see some downward movement soon!!

Also trying to limit carbs but can’t face no carbs! And the wine needs to be cut down A LOT…. It didn’t used to make a difference, but it seems to now 😬

OP posts:
Hungryfrogs23 · 29/08/2023 17:53

Haha I couldn't cope with no carbs either @Lucie11 It takes a stronger woman than me to say no to garlic bread and pasta 🙈😄

I'm mostly trying to move a bit more and snack a bit less. I'm reluctant to limit overall calories too much while my newborn is feeding a lot and needs fattening up. I've washed a whole load of Strawberries and Grapes and put them in the fridge so if I get tempted by snacking they are there to deter me from unhealthily stuff. Will look into nutracheck though as I gave up with MFP as it was too faffy.

JollyJellyCat · 29/08/2023 20:04

I'm just trying to snack less and drink more water.

10st0 this morning. Not really a loss as I am always minimum weight on a Tuesday. No idea why!

Hungryfrogs23 · 29/08/2023 20:20

@JollyJellyCat haha love that you have a "lightest day" 😄 Wonder what is magic about Tuesdays? 🤔
Not a great evening, ended up eating pick n mix 🙄 but still time to do the 10 min workout to alleviate the guilt!

Hungryfrogs23 · 30/08/2023 08:57

Well I did the workout last night - my abs are really feeling it this morning though 😣

SW 10st 5lbs
CW 9st 8.6 lbs
TW 8st 8lbs

wineandsun · 30/08/2023 09:00

Can I join too. Been trying and failing at losing the 12lb I've put on and really need to crack it this time. Feel sluggish and bloated and have jeans that are too tight now. Back to calorie counting this morning. I go the gym regularly and have a PT once a week but food and wine is my downfall.
I have an event mid Oct and that's my goal.

Lucie11 · 30/08/2023 09:29

@wineandsun welcome. You sound like me! Good on the exercise front, but love the wine and food!

Weight today is 60.4kg….I had less than a 1000 calories yesterday and I always drink loads of water. Surely something will come off soon 😩.

Not that long ago a week of counting and I would see a drop of 2-3 pounds. Alas no more

Hi, any room for a flabby short arse?
Long story short, I went from 14 stone to 9stone, six years ago. I low carbed, hiked in the hills, HIIT 3x week and took up running. Went from size 16 to a 8/10.
Fast forward to developing health issues and I've put on a stone of flab.
I wear mostly stretchy clothes so it crept up on me, until I pulled my summer shorts and trousers out and couldn't get them past my thighs.
Current stats
60 yo
5'3"
64kg, although yo yoing between 63 and 65.
Target weight
Toned 60kg.
Hoping to gain some motivation to sort my body out from people in the same boat.
I weigh daily too.

Summerscomin · 30/08/2023 10:10

Hello, cautiously dipping my toe in here. I don't have a lot to lose- I don't think! Hoping for some inspiration on how to actually do it.
Has anyone else read the thread in chat about being completely bamboozled by all the different ways to lose weight/be healthy? It really resonated with me.
I think I've "stopped" trying to diet because I just don't know what to do anymore! Calorie counting has worked for me, got me to where I am now, but it feels a faff and a commitment. Slimming world has worked brilliantly for my friend but I'm a skint single parent so couldn't do the meetings and I think that's the USP. Also got some health issues at play so forever wondering what will set my stomach off. After 15+ years of dieting and worrying about the scales and every single thing I eat and drink, I think I've developed some disordered eating.
I'll stop rambling! And hopefully pick some ideas up from you all.
SW: 11st2lb
CW: 10st4lb
GW: not sure. Let's say 9st9lb.

BaconAndAvocado · 30/08/2023 11:39

Summerscomin
I completely agree with you regarding being bamboozled!
I was considering doing intermittent fasting but is that something I’ll maintain after I’ve lost the weight? Probably not.

I don’t want any gimmicks, just to find a way of developing healthy eating habits for the long term.

And there’s the rub and the reason the diet industry is so huge and successful.

Lucie11 · 30/08/2023 12:24

@CherryogDog don’t be so hard on yourself… losing 5 stone must have taken a lot of discipline. That’s amazing.

it’s annoying to have put some on, but it will come off again. I know that just a bit of a gain can make you feel rubbish though! No advice, just keep going

OP posts:
Passerillage · 30/08/2023 12:28

I'll join! I am 56kg now, and want to be 54kg - at least, I think I'd like to be 52kg, but I haven't been that weight in about 10 years, so it could be that it wouldn't suit me now that I'm in my mid 40's. I know I'm a healthy weight, but the tummy doesn't suit me (flat chest). I was 60kg in February and lost 4kg pretty easily on Noom, but the summer holidays and being in the car more have played havoc with my progress.

I'm even thinking of... running in September. Ugh.

Lucie11 · 30/08/2023 12:42

And yes @Summerscomin and @BaconAndAvocado I totally understand the feeling of not knowing what the best thing to do is due to the total bombardment of info!!
I jump from thinking no/low carb, IF, calorie counting etc etc. I know though that I cannot live without eating carbs at all and forever!
I just wish I could be 10 pounds lighter and stay there 😂

OP posts:
BaconAndAvocado · 30/08/2023 13:12

Lucie11 100% agree re the 10 pounds plea!!
It's the staying there that's the tricky part.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 30/08/2023 17:17

Hello everyone. I’m tentatively thinking of joining you all. Really, there’s no one irl I can have this conversation with except my PT who’s awesome. I dare not mention it as ppl say, oh you don’t need to lose weight blah blah and it’s very difficult to explain so I remain silent and it can feel a bit lonely.

I’m a healthy weight for my height and I’ve got quite a lot of defined muscle as I do pretty intense weight training. So I’ve ‘recomped’ a lot. But, and this is the thing, I’d like to lose a little more fat (not bothered by my actual weight).

Im 5ft 4 and weigh around 61.5/62kg and I’d really like to get down to 59kg though I’m not sure how practical that is. I need to be vigilant with my diet though so that I’m adequately fuelled for training sessions. I’m currently eating around 1900 calories a day that’s my maintenance level. So considering dropping to 1600 calories for a couple of weeks to see what happens.

Very pleased to have some friends to join me!

It’s difficult when you don’t have a lot to lose, half the time you feel ‘ok’ but not really yourself. I find feeling heavier than I would like really affects my mood.

@Bubbles254 , of course you can join. You can be our inspiration and give us tips on how you’ve managed such an amazing loss! And I agree, the battle to keep it off is real! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to do this. Very tedious 🙄

ahh thanks Lucie11. Happy to share any tips, it was mainly just changing what I ate rather than tracking calories, I cut out UPF and most sugar (starchy carbs) which really reduced my hunger. I think this is a great thread as loosing the last 5kg - 10kg or so can make a huge difference to how you feel about yourself but is often the hardest.

I am finding body recomp a challenge at the moment. I really need to gain muscle without gaining fat and I am still getting used to the scales no longer going down. I was quite enjoying the buzz of seeing the numbers improve but now I feel I need a new health goal, might try to take waist measurements instead or have some exercise goals.

iloveyoghurt · 30/08/2023 21:29

Oh can i join too please? I have probably about 10 pounds to lose. I was around 53kg in February, probably about 58-59 now. ( Have eaten my body weight in crap ib the last 2 days waiting for bastarding period) . Need to sort myself out and will dig out the scales😬.
My healthy food shop arrived today and there is no chocolate or crisps in the house, so no excuse now, would love to be 53kgs by December.

Lucie11 · 30/08/2023 21:38

@Bubbles254 sounds like you’ve nailed what you need to do. Out of interest, how long did it take you to get down to 50kg from starting. I’m hoping you’re going to say 6 weeks 😂

@iloveyoghurt yes, please join. I know how you feel, it’s rubbish. I seem to be sometimes getting a period every 2 weeks… not sure what’s going on as I’m on HRT. Maybe it’s needs a tweak

Its so annoying isn't it? Mine was coming every 20 days for around 6 months and looks like its back to 28/9 and its only 2 days long. Eating chocolate takes up more time then the actual period😡

tunainatin · 30/08/2023 22:17

Current weight 57kg, target 53kg. Not much but like you op, I'm short so it shows. I've wanted to lose this weight for sooo long but metabolism has ground to a halt! I'm doing 16:8 fasting and trying to make sensible choices and not eat processed food.

Bubbles254 · 31/08/2023 05:04

@lucie11 Just a little longer than 6 weeks I am afraid! I started changing my diet end of January and was down to 51kg by beginning of July. Earlier I was loosing around 0.5kg a week but it levelled off a bit. I think it is best to go slow though to give the skin a chance to contract and not reduce your tdee too much as you want to be able to maintain it.
