⭐️LOSE IT! July. Summer Edition⭐️

Healthy eating in the summer can be tricky to navigate. Summer barbecues, holidays, get togethers with family & friends makes it tougher to stay on track. No one wants to miss out on all the goodies on offer or be seen not joining in. However with forward planning and by setting your intentions you can mitigate any serious undoing of your endeavours. For example having a lighter lunch if you know you’re going for a slap up meal. Eat lighter the following day and keep hydrated to compensate.

Yet another new month will provide the opportunity to embrace a re-set and refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9.5st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back mainly on track. Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Posted to soon 😂

Starting July in a good place, hoping to maintain my current weight/possibly lose another 1-2lb. I'm under my goal weight now after losing 2st since joining these threads the start of 2022. In my head I've now got two 'ceiling' weights - 9st 8lb which is the 2st loss mark, and 9st 10lb which I do not ever want to go above. I'm hoping with a bit of wiggle room I can navigate the summer holidays without tipping over that one!

In terms of what I do - I loosely follow 16:8; I'm not strict with eating windows and I technically break the fast with my morning teas, but I don't eat anything until lunch. I also refrain from eating bread, crisps or having any wine during the week, but I'm more relaxed at the weekends. Those three things are my slippery slope (aka nemesis 😂) but I've been living with this balance now since early last year and have found it works for me physically, emotionally and mentally

Takes one to know one @TheRealHousewife ❤️ our chief cheerleader!

Karatema · 30/06/2023 13:21

Posting now so I can find this again!
SW: 78 kgs
CW: 76.6 🙄
TW: 70 kgs

TW will still make me in the Overweight category but I've got to be realistic 😀

LavenderfortheBees · 30/06/2023 20:07

Hi I'd like to join please.

Recently 'graduated' from a lose 3 stone thread started in January where I started at around 13st and am now 9st 8lb as of this week.

I'd like to very slowly get down to 9st over the next few months but as said in OP, it's summer and I have a lot or events on. A wedding tomorrow. Visitors and BBQ next weekend. Another wedding and some meals out booked at the end of the month.

Think this month is going to be mostly maintenance by eating at a deficit on non celebration days to make up for the weekends.

DownUdderer · 01/07/2023 01:26

I'm checking in for July!

WeirdPookah · 01/07/2023 08:45

Looking to join in, needing a space to talk and share.

I've been calorie counting, I am down 53lbs since January.

I am in the middle of a whole season of family celebrations, birthdays, anniversary, etc and it's just hard to keep going.

I've been being "strict" (much as I hate calling it that, but can't think what else) on every other day, and letting myself enjoy the days for what they are. But they are piling up!
I gained 4lbs back on holiday at the start of the month, but lost that and 4 more since. But we have now planned another trip away in August since my IL's bought a caravan we can use too.

So I am calorie counting, mostly vegetarian as my husband is and I just can't be bothered cooking multiple meals! Been trying to up my protein and that's had an effect I believe.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 01/07/2023 09:42

Checking in for July - forgot to weigh in this morning but I will do it tomorrow.
Trying to keep the walking up now we are home.

AutisticLegoLover · 01/07/2023 11:32

Morning all and happy July! @TheRealHousewife thank you but without you and your threads I wouldn't have lost over 2st.

Checking in at 54kg dead on this morning.

My plan this month is to increase my veg and fibre intake and decrease my consumption of sweets. June was my birthday month but a very, very stressful one on the health and family front. The stress isn't over but it's lessened but I'm not going to use it as an excuse so here's to more veg and fibre. Yesterday I made my favourite butternut squash and carrot soup. I'd not made it for ages and it was delicious. I've made a big batch of marinara sauce for pizza and pasta. Carbs are not my enemy and I enjoy them. I just try to eat them in a more healthy way. I also made a loaf of bread and have had toast as a treat for breakfast. Nothing beats homemade most things. There's a chocolate fudge cake too but I won't eat much of that. At least it's without any additives or preservatives. I'm trying to cut out ultra processed foods be mindful of what I'm eating in general. I'm aiming to maintain my weight around 54.5kg.

I've given up trying to catch up on the other thread but hugs and handholds and encouraging to those who need them.

Here's to lots of 🍾 and summer sun! Thanks to these threads I've been wearing dresses lots because I fit in them and don't feel like a sack of spuds in them. Thats a miracle. I'm still flabby and need to tone up but I'm technically slim for the first time in 8 years and the lowest weight I've been in 20+ and I'm happy with that.

Welcome to new posters, I hope you find these threads as inspiring and supportive as I have.

greenspaces4peace · 01/07/2023 14:27

Checking in.

AutisticLegoLover · 01/07/2023 16:16

Oh jeez I've just looked at my arse in the mirror, well as much as that's possible without dislocating my neck, and my jeans are hanging off in a very unattractive manner. I knew they were loose but didn't know they looked so bad. Vinted time to sell these and get new ones. Two months ago I couldn't fit in them. I should be happy about this I know but no doubt a smaller size will be tight though. It's usually the case. A lot of my camisole/vest tops are too big too and gaping at the sides. I might get them altered. My wardrobe had lots of revisited options a couple of months ago and now it's restricted again. Typical!

Bikechic · 01/07/2023 17:15

Thanks for new thread @TheRealHousewife . I didn't think I'd lost anything last month, but actually I'm 2 lb down over the whole month. Weighing in at start of July at 11st.
I'm doing park run again and feeling good for it.

greenspaces4peace · 01/07/2023 18:02

Down slightly from June!
I’m hoping to pick up some momentum and motivation.
My Apple challenge for July is an easy one and I also have a chronometer logging challenge I’ve accepted which will be difficult :(

TheRealHousewife · 01/07/2023 18:32

Happy 1st July 😬

TooEarly4Breakfast · 01/07/2023 23:56

Hello everyone. I tidied in the kitchen this evening, and listed what's in the fridge. Need to stop impulse buys. And plan better.

I was a bit dizzy in the morning. I think it was because yesterday was very stressful, I slept badly, and then it started up again this morning. Things are calmer now, and I really hope the dizziness wasn't food related.

Weighing tomorrow, and posting any loss.

SmackMeOnTheBottomWithTheWomensWeekly · 02/07/2023 07:26

Thank you @TheRealHousewife - the song still makes me laugh to this day! Her and Billy Connolly have always been my favourites.

Hope everyone is well today, I had a mixed Day One, far too much sugar because I was knackered and low and needed "a boost" but finished the day on 1296 cals. Going to try to make better choices today and aim for slightly lower cals. Unfortunately, I just don't lose weight at all unless I'm under the 1200 mark.

Have a lovely day all, and hope the sun is shining where you are ☀️

TheRealHousewife · 02/07/2023 11:39

Morning All

Cold and rainy here today. Weirdly 🥶

@Ninjachicken You're very welcome. You’ve made solid steady progress this year and I’m sure if you keep doing what you’ve been doing you’ll get to goal! 👍

@TooEarly4Breakfast How are you? Has the dizziness gone away 🤞

@SmackMeOnTheBottomWithTheWomensWeekly Im the same calorie wise although my magic window for loss is 1000-1100. That said I am not as tall as you 😬

Meal 1 - Roast Lamb dinner - Lamb, peas, carrots, cabbage, leeks, broccoli, new potatoes and lamb gravy = 575 cals

TooEarly4Breakfast · 03/07/2023 00:20

@TheRealHousewife Thanks for asking. The dizziness is improving, and I think it's partly due to eating better and being less harrassed. Tomorrow's meals are already planned!
