⭐️LOSE IT! July. Summer Edition⭐️

Healthy eating in the summer can be tricky to navigate. Summer barbecues, holidays, get togethers with family & friends makes it tougher to stay on track. No one wants to miss out on all the goodies on offer or be seen not joining in. However with forward planning and by setting your intentions you can mitigate any serious undoing of your endeavours. For example having a lighter lunch if you know you’re going for a slap up meal. Eat lighter the following day and keep hydrated to compensate.

Yet another new month will provide the opportunity to embrace a re-set and refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9.5st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back mainly on track. Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Morning all. 53.95kg this morning to start the week off nicely. I want to get back to IF because my eating habits have been totally off this last week and im cranky and feeling rubbish. Breakfast has been Nutella on toast due to lack of food in the house for a decent breakfast. I'll be going shopping today. @TheRealHousewife that's my favourite yogurt but I boil up frozen berries and cherries into a compote to go with it as I didn't like the thickness with the fresh berries in the amount I have. I need to make more compote today. I've reduced the amount of honey I have with it slowly but need to reduce it some more. It will be soup or pasta for dinner. Lots of walking today. Must improve my 🍾 consumption.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week and has had a lovely weekend.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 03/07/2023 08:46

Hello All,
Hope everyone is enjoying summer! its winter here and I am freezing!
Still behaving myself diet wise, just useless at keeping up with the thread. Did my final weigh in for June on Friday and was 65.9kg so just about reached Junes Goal of getting to below 66kg which is where I was at before falling off the wagon a few months ago.
This month I am aiming to do another kg and reach 65kg flat, I am now firmly in a healthy BMI and these last few Kgs are purely for vanity and i'm finding the weight is coming off much slower. So 1kg a month feels achievable and means by October I will be at my ultimate goal of 62kg.

TheRealHousewife · 03/07/2023 10:04

@AutisticLegoLover Thats such a good idea! I’ve got some frozen berries. I’ll try your idea when I next run short of fresh berries 👍

@Allthegoodnamestakken Are you down under? Sorry if you’ve said before. Congratulations on entering the healthy BMI zone, that’s awesome 👏⭐️👌

I had a bad weekend and need to get my head back together. The 2 sports gradings were pretty long and loud. Took all afternoon and got back late for bedtime for youngest. My husband and daughter both passed!
We had takeaway that night.

Just done a Jenny Ford workout. Raining here, so not walking outside.

B: Black bean burrito
L: Mixed vegetables, fried eggs with togarashi
D: Baked potato, salad, tuna
watermelon for snack

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 03/07/2023 12:32

Late to the party today but I did weigh in first thing - 131.2lbs so have put a few pounds on while on holiday.
I will get it off again over the next two weeks.

TheRealHousewife · 03/07/2023 13:50

@WeirdPookah Congrats on your families gradings 👍👏🥳 Try not to give any more thought to last week; you’ve a brand new week to reset ❤️

@Was126orbustandmaybebust Great to have you on board again. You’ll soon see any gain off 👍

@TheRealHousewife I'm in East Africa, move around the region quite a bit currently. Weather goes from equator sun, to bloody cold depending on altitude but this time of year is the coldest.
@WeirdPookah Congrats to your husband and daughter, sometimes a takeaway really is needed for convenience.

I am travelling for work again over the next couple of days, a time when I always slip but this time i've prepared a bit and made some granola bars and packed some fruit so I can at least ensure breakfast isn't the chocolate and lucozade from a petrol station.

TheRealHousewife · 03/07/2023 14:44

@Allthegoodnamestakken Sounds exciting! I used to travel/holiday a lot but now enjoy occasionally visiting places in the UK. Prepping for when on the road is fantastic planning and will serve you well 👍👌

@Allthegoodnamestakken … meant to add sorry it’s cold for you. I’m feeling cold today, so cold I could put the fire on … it’s supposed to be summer. It’s only 15 degrees today 🥶 🔥

They look delicious!

TheRealHousewife · 03/07/2023 22:06

@Autumndays22 Thank you. Even my other half had one and he doesn't like yoghurt 😬

The yogurt and berry compote looks great!!

I went up a pound over the weekend, just from extra snacking. Then this morning I'm down a pound. That's great. But I tell you what, I'm getting fed up with bouncing up and down with the same pound!! It's so annoying sometimes!!

I will be patient.

Keep on keeping on everyone:)

MercuryRising · 04/07/2023 06:52

Hi can I join please. I've had good intentions all year but not achieved anything. I have my garmin back on aiming for 10,000 steps and then need to sort out my eating. Cutting out alcohol would probably be a good start. My start weight is 12.13. I would like to be 11.13 by September. Is that realistic?

AutisticLegoLover · 04/07/2023 07:48

Look amazing @TheRealHousewife 😃 I keep my compote in a kilner jar and add it as I go along. I put chia seeds in and honey. 225g yogurt, 40g compote, 2g chia, 20g honey is my perfect combo although I'm trying to reduce the honey. I've just had it for breakfast as a more summery breakfast than porridge. I'll see how full I still am later. I might have a smaller portion if I'm still full later as that amount is great for lunch but felt too much for breakfast.

53.8kg this morning. I'm keeping a close eye now that I'm not logging everything. I'm surprised because I had homemade pizza and chips for dinner last night and expected the salt to boost my weight. Not complaining!

The sun is back out today and I've two loads of washing out on the line already. We might be ready early enough to walk along the canal and through the woods this morning for a change.

Here's to a great day with good choices and plenty of exercise and 🍾

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 04/07/2023 08:03

Thanks @TheRealHousewife I am on it - again!
I hear you @DownUdderer these same 4lbs I lose, then go on holiday put them back on, then lose them again. I have 7 weeks until I go away again so if I could lose 7lbs in that time, then even if I put on 3lbs, I would still be clear of these same 4lbs.
I love the compotes - I have some Bonne Maman in the cupboard so you have both inspired me to get it out and have it with fruit and yogurt for lunch.
So here i am this morning at 130.8lbs - a little down and 3.8lbs to go.
Onwards and inwards.

TheRealHousewife · 04/07/2023 08:19

Good Morning

@DownUdderer Thank you. I’m similar with my weight. I’m bouncing up and down the same couple of pounds. Frustrating.

@MercuryRising Welcome to the thread. 14lbs by September? That would be a solid 2lb a week loss per week for 7-8 wks. Doable but you need to set your intentions, establish a healthy eating plan (that creates a deficit) and exercise if able. Keep us posted 👍🤞

Thank you @AutisticLegoLover. Yours sounds very nice too👌 Mine arnt as substantial and come in around 110cals a pot as there is only 125g yogurt and 40-50 grams fruit. A walk along the canal in the sunshine sounds lovely!

@Was126orbustandmaybebust Youll soon be on it and kicking any gain to the curb. I’ve called it ‘compote’. I cooked down raspberries, blueberries and strawberries in a nonstick pan. I didn’t add any sugar or sweetener. It has a fresh piquancy that I like.

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made vegetable soup. Greek yoghurt and fruit compote.
Meal 2 - Chicken, carrots, peas, broccoli and new potatoes.

Enjoy your day!

can i join
i'm just seeing this. currently 13'7. want 3 stone off! x

TooEarly4Breakfast · 04/07/2023 08:52

My kitchen wasn't closed until 9pm yesterday. I've put an alarm on my phone now. Clothes definitely looser.

Planned today's food yesterday evening, and put frozen cooked chicken in fridge to defrost for today with baby potatoes and peas. Will hard-boil eggs this morning for quick protein. Also check cans of soup for something that I can add lots of veg to.

AutisticLegoLover · 04/07/2023 09:15

I'm hungry already and not even home from the school run!

Bikechic · 04/07/2023 10:23

It's nice to see different ideas for berries. I'm afraid the rhubarb without sugar was not a hit. At first I thought it was OK, but it's now sitting in the fridge not tempting me in. Back to a mix of fresh homegrown. Raspberries, strawberries and blackcurrants for breakfast with yogurt. Much nicer.

WeirdPookah · 04/07/2023 10:48

Another mini celebratory day passed!

Today I have been for a walk on the prom. Very windy but sunny, sea salted hair now, saw my favourite dog's (one has a buggy!) but my jeans are so loose now, they are pinned with a nappy pin for a start, the pocket is baggy and my phone got over-excited tracking my fitness minutes! Can't edit them, so took them off the workout I tracked yesterday which you can edit, as it was 15 heart points too much.

Weather is all over the place, meant to be school sports days this week, one year was re-arranged yesterday, will have to see what happens to the days I'm supposed to be going in.

Today:
B: Black bean burrito
L: Vegan chili, spring cabbage
D: Linda McCartney burger in sandwich thin, salad
a peach and corn thins after my walk, iced protein coffee.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 04/07/2023 12:54

@TheRealHousewife Thanks, I love a UK holiday, most of my travel here is for work and DH work. We have been in our current house 18 months which is the longest we've managed in 6 years so hoping we are able to stay for a while longer. DH works in an industry with short contracts but his current one is permanent.

@Bikechic homegrown berry mix sounds delicious!

@WeirdPookah your walk sounds lovely and well done on the two big jeans!

MercuryRising · 04/07/2023 20:01

@TheRealHousewife I know it might be a push but it is good to have something to aim for. I have downloaded mfp and have started logging all my food. My calories are set at 1341 a day which should see me lose 1.5 a week.

Typically I have decided to start a week before my birthday so the weekend may not be great. But hoping to make a good start before then.

DownUdderer · 05/07/2023 01:06

I went jeans shopping yesterday. I had the kids with me because it's school holidays here. So I didn't have too much time to think! But that was probably for the best. The fitting room mirrors are of course completely unforgiving. I bought a pair. I think I'm pleased with them. Sometimes the worsted bit for me is driving with jeans on, they cut me in half! Perhaps because they're high waisted.
