Ozempic new starters thread

Wondering if anyone would like to join me starting Ozempic. I’m doing my first injection tonight and am very nervous about reactions/side effects. I’m 5’ and 10.5 stones with very high blood pressure which medication is struggling yo bring down, high cholesterol and arthritis.

I would like to get to 9 stones realistically and ideally 8.5. I do seem to have unusual reactions to some medication so am really hoping I can take this without too many problems as I’m sure I’d be far healthier minus a couple stones.

I'm a very similar height and weight to you and have high cholesterol. My Ozempic has been sat in the fridge for around four weeks as I've been nervous about it too! Not sure if I will start tonight but maybe tomorrow. Happy to join you on this journey.

I totally understand the fear. I’ve decided to go straight for it tonight after collecting it today. A sort of feel the fear and do it anyway approach. I hope you feel you can take the plunge v soon. Is it the injection that’s worrying you or the side effects ? For me it’s definitely the side effects I’m scared of.

@Wtafisgoingontoday won't you lose some if you've had it 4 weeks? I've heard you can keep it for 56 days and you've already kept it for 30?

I can understand your fears though. I dithered for months before ordering but I'd been eating 1300 calories a day and going gym 3xweek for 3 months and couldn't lose a pound. I'm 52. 5'4" and weigh 11.3. Want to get back to 9.7. The menopause has completely changed my body and I hate it. I have a number of chronic health and an immune conditions which would be easier to manage if I could just lose a little weight.

I took my first jab Wednesday night. No effect or side effects as yet. Be interested to keep up with everyone's progress.

Best of luck to you all 💐

Where did you get it, may I ask?

I started ozempic on Wednesday night too! I was nervous but the injection was simple to set up, I didnt even feel the needle go in my thigh, I even wondered if it had gone in!! No advice side effects yet. I think my appetite was lower yesterday (Thursday) but today I havent been hungry all day and could barely manage half my normal portion size for evening meal. Will be interesting to see how the next few weeks go.

I was going to use Health Express but they didnt have the 0.25 dose in stock, so ordered from Mayfair weight loss clinic, though it cost more, £185 in total, ouch!

If you havent seen the other ozempic threads, have a look, apparently there are more doses in the syringe than 4 weeks worth, extra needles needed though.

I got mine from MyJuniper. I was impressed at all the things the doctor asked - list of medications and doses, what they were for, latest liver/kidney function blood test results . I thought they were going to turn me down but I was approved after a few days of back and forth information requests. I did the first injection at 7 tonight . I also wondered if I’d done it properly as couldn’t feel the needle. Am now sat hoping nothing bad happens. I weighed myself on the scales that came with the order and am 10st.5.

I was interested to see that from the other thread that theres more than 4 weeks in the pen. PinkCosYouAreSoVery it’s great you’ve not had side effects and are feeling full on less. That’s my biggest problem. I’m perpetually hungry and have too big an appetite . On all diets I can’t sleep because I’m hungry when I go to bed or wake up in the night feeling ravenous.

I hope you dont get any adverse effect @MedievalMadness - lets us know how you go. I'll try to update this thread each Wednesday with updates, would be interested to see others too.

I have 2.5 stone to lose at least, ideally 3 to be back at what was my normal weight until 2 years ago. I find as soon as I start dieting/healthy eating that because im focussing so much on food all the time, the thinking about food constantly doesn't help the hunger! So im hoping the ozempic will stop me thinking about food so much so I dont think about it in between meals.

I think I'll start back at the gym and start walking an hour most days again. I have desk based job and work from home so I have gotten very sedentary with easy access to the food cupboards!

I ordered it in desperation and then once it was delivered felt the fear. I'm not even really sure what I'm scared of... I think it's just the unknown.

My delay in starting is that I thought that I could do this myself as I managed to lose 2.5 stone a couple of years ago by calorie counting alone, sadly peri and working from home have scuppered my efforts and the weight has piled back on. My appetite is enormous these days! I don't appear to have an off switch. I ordered Ozempic as a kick start, I know I can do this but to be perfectly honest I need a helping hand to get started on my road to a healthier lifestyle.

I am 5'2 & around 10st 4. I would like to get down to 9st, I feel really uncomfortable in my body and have no energy. I had full bloods done recently and the results were eye opening and a little alarming so I really do need to make a start sooner rather than later.

Good luck everyone 🤞

@Wtafisgoingontoday I'm the same, since I started peri 3 years ago and started HRT I put nearly 2 stone on and no matter what I do, I can't shift it. I lost 6st 12 years ago and I maintained 9.7lb for nearly 10 yrs no problem. I just need a kick-start to start the weight loss again. This really is my last resort.

I hope you get over your fear, but if you don't, it doesn't mean you've failed, just that this method for weight loss is not right for you. You'll find another way that suits you better 💐

When did you all order? Those websites are saying out of stock now sadly.

Oh, my juniper does have it actually. I’ve ordered it - can anyone shed light on what will happen next? Do they contact you again? Will they want a photo? 😬

I was approved on 11 April and confirmed the order that day. It was dispatched on 12th and I picked it up today. There was a note in the box to say the pen is might look different to usual as they’re needing to get supplies from Europe as it’s out of stock in the UK. Mine is a German manufacturer.

It would be great to get updates from those who’ve started and if this thread helps anyone feeling wary of opening up their packs and try it, that would be a bonus. I’ll update too.

BellsandSmells. Juniper didn’t ask me for a photo, but I had to provide a list of medication and doses. Then got a message asking what everything was for. I then was asked for latest blood test results for kidney/liver function as ozempic can affected kidneys and I’m on 4 types of anti hypertensives which can also affect kidneys. I uploaded all the results from the patient access site and after i got a message saying I’d been approved.

I ordered mine from Manual last on 10th April and was approved same day, received it Wednesday afternoon.

Can I ask everyone what they'll do for second pen? I'm not ashamed to say £200 a month is going to be a real stretch for me (if not impossible some months). Will you go from supplier to supplier so you can use new customer discount codes? Or can you get discount codes for same supplier month after month? I'm not sure how it works. I'm grateful for people who have offered me discount codes but Manual have not offered me one to offer out to other people either

Fortheloveofus. I’ve not really thought about it. I don’t think I’ll be able to take it beyond 6 months because it’s so expensive. I’m hoping I can take it without too many problems and if so get the majority of weight shifted in that time. Not sure how realistic this is though.

I am overweight but not obese, BMI is 26 so wasn't sure if I could buy it?

Have people with BMIs less than 30 been successful?

Does everyone need to submit kidney/liver function tests or is it just if you’re on existing medication?

I’ve received mine 2 weeks ago but it is in my fridge as I’m nervous about immediate side effects and am waiting for a day when I can work from home. Don’t want to take today as have a 40th tonight to go to. Does anyone know if it’s likely to get immediate side effects? I can cope with nausea no problem it’s the diarrhoea I’m concerned about when I’m out. I’m obese and got it from the London Slimming Clinic

I’ve seen some people were approved with a bmi of 26 but I think it’s always with some weight related condition (blood pressure, cholesterol, pcos, pre diabetes etc). I’m not sure you’ll get prescribed at a bmi of 26 but I guess you can always try and see what they say. I think as the health risks of the drug outweigh the health advantages of losing the weight anyone willing to prescribe would be a little questionable.

my bmi was 27.8 with pcos and I was prescribed no questions, and just swapped to juniper after a month with my bmi now 26.something and also no questions asked. I have done a lot of research though and I know a lot of people would think I’m taking an unnecessary risk, but personally the pcos makes it hell to lose weight if I don’t eliminate carbs entirely and ozempic has really worked for me with insulin response.

My BMI is 27 but I have very high BP, high cholesterol and arthritis. I was asked for test results because my medication can affect kidneys.

After first dose yesterday evening I’ve had no bad side effects. I had less than half of my usual size bowl of shredded wheat and a coffee and felt satisfied. I’ve just had half a bagel and a coffee as I’m going to try 6 small meals/snacks instead of 3 huge meals to try lower chance of any nausea. I’m upping my water a lot as my approval message said to do that.

kkneat. I’m nervous about if/when side effects kicking in suddenly. It’s difficult when you’ve literally no idea if, how or when any effects will happen.

After taking mine on Wednesday evening, I'm still starving. No side effects. Just off to gym to distract my thoughts from food 😥

Fortheloveofus. It’s supposed to take a while to build up. I’m wondering if my reduced appetite is psychological at this stage. Either way I’m ok with that. I hope yours does something soon. Going to the gym very good. I’ve twisted my foot so frustrating can’t even go for a walk today.

I took my 3rd dose this morning. I am way heavier than the rest of you with a BMI of 40. I’ve had minimal side effects - a little queasy on injection day. No diarrhoea, more constipated than anything. I had an enormous appetite and chocolate was my downfall. The last 2 weeks I am averaging 1200 calories a day and no chocolate! Protein is your best friend and limit carbs as much as you can. I have no idea if I’ve lost any weight as have chosen to only weigh once a month. I am getting anxious about my 2nd May weigh in - you don’t want to be spending £200 a month to not lose! Good luck to everyone starting the journey 😊
