Ozempic new starters thread

Wondering if anyone would like to join me starting Ozempic. I’m doing my first injection tonight and am very nervous about reactions/side effects. I’m 5’ and 10.5 stones with very high blood pressure which medication is struggling yo bring down, high cholesterol and arthritis.

I would like to get to 9 stones realistically and ideally 8.5. I do seem to have unusual reactions to some medication so am really hoping I can take this without too many problems as I’m sure I’d be far healthier minus a couple stones.

Hello,

Has anyone had diarrhoea (and then as a result hemorrhoids), from ozempic?

I'm on week 1 of 0.5, due second injection today.

Thanks

Pineapplepansy · 06/06/2023 07:13

I've recently started on the tablet form and it's going well and hunger is greatly reduced. I just wish I'd started months ago but better late than never.

The best thing I've noticed is that I'm not preoccupied by thoughts of food and I'm not snacking much. I'm also finding it easier to resist temptation when it's placed in front of me.

I am excited about the summer and hopefully being able to wear some of last year's clothes again that due to menopausal weight gain I am no longer able to wear.

Recycledblonde · 06/06/2023 07:57

2nd injection done today and weigh in, I've lost 4lbs so really pleased.
@Pineapplepansy Like you I'm enjoying not constantly thinking of food, I still enjoy what I eat but have smaller portions.

Fortheloveofus · 06/06/2023 08:29

I'm on second 0.5 injection on sunday and still not felt any real appetite loss. Ive woken up starving again. I've put back on 2lb of the 5 I lost. My first injection was 7 weeks ago and I'm really just losing the will. I can't afford to be doing this if its not going to work for me. I feel more than a little despondent. Anyone else waited this long for it to start working?

Mephisneon · 06/06/2023 08:59

I'm feeling a bit disappointed like some of the pp's. I noticed appetite suppression intially but bow on 0 5g first on this dose yesterday I feel like it's not so much. Anyone else had this? I know it's just getting up to a therapeutic dose. But how come it had an impact for a bit?

Luckingfovely · 07/06/2023 10:58

Quick update - I was really struggling with not having lost anything.

Just taken 3rd jab of 0.5 today. Got on the scales just out of interest and am down 7 pounds suddenly!

Very happy Smile

MedievalMadness · 07/06/2023 11:55

I’m on 3rd dose of 0.5 and starting to find appetite suppression is less than it was too. Last week I didn’t lose any weight . I’d actually gained 3 oz which is a very small amount but disappointing nevertheless. Will see what this weeks weigh in brings. I’ve actually brought forward the injection to today instead of tomorrow because my hunger was so much stronger. I hope it settles for those of us going through this as it’s too expensive to not see decent results

The stock issue seems like it's getting really bad. To the point where I'm thinking of moving over to something else. Like the tablets or saxenda. I have another months supply but I can't see it getting better in a month.

Has anyone else got any thoughts on this?
@MedievalMadness I feel similar I'm just starting 0.5 but the appite suppression is reducing so I do wonder about the cost vs outcomes.

Fortheloveofus · 07/06/2023 16:17

I'd like to hear peoples' experiences on the oral type of Oz please?

Same as this seems to be a bit easier to still get hold of.

And I think it's cheaper. Although I think that price might go up to. Last time Manual said they didn't have the pen I needed, they offered me oral 😳the tablets instead at about £150, if I remember correctly

WeightInLine · 07/06/2023 17:55

For those worrying about supply, I’m getting my Juniper delivery without any issues. I’d actually asked them to move it forward because I was going away and they’ve done it without any issue.

And that’s after four weeks, even though they’d originally told me to space the four doses out to 10 days. Confused Supply obviously is an issue but it doesn’t seem to be a disaster. (I am more worried about cost.)

gingerbubs · 07/06/2023 18:29

Just a heads up - I just ordered a 1mg pen from quickmeds for £175

Btrsun10 · 07/06/2023 18:37

I've been trying. Keep getting to my basket and nothing there!! arrrggghh

WeightInLine · 08/06/2023 07:42

Is anyone else a bit freaked out by their weight loss?

I’m losing 2lbs a week. I have never lost weight like this before. Generally, it is a massive slog to average 1lb off a week. I am pleased but also worried about it piling straight back on. It seems a bit too good to be true.

When I started I’d budgeted for six pens to lose 30lbs, so 1 pen = 1 month = 5lb off per month. This was based on the max I thought was realistic.

But I think I may lose faster than that and I am not sure how I feel. Is losing weight this quickly bad for us?

Recycledblonde · 08/06/2023 08:12

Im trying to use it as an opportunity to change the way I eat as well as the quantity. So I’m making sure that the majority of my plate is veg/salad. Having some veg with every meal and not buying anything ready made so no shop bought cake/biscuits etc.
Im hoping that reverting to the way I used to eat when I was effortlessly slim will help me maintain.

Menora · 09/06/2023 20:39

I am not freaked out by my weight loss as I’ve lost barely no weight in 4 weeks on ozempic and really counting calories. If I don’t start losing on 0.5 I am giving up as it’s too expensive to bother with and I will try something else. I only have a 0.25 pen, so to get the rest out of it to go to 0.5 I am going to have to do 2 x injections yes? It won’t click past 0.25

kkr168 · 09/06/2023 21:42

Just managed to order a 1mg pen on quickmeds

Luckingfovely · 10/06/2023 00:03

@Menora just to share a bit of experience from a bit further on. I lost nothing with the first pen, did 4 x 0.25 and then 2 x 0.5. Have just taken my third 0.5 from the new pen.

Thought nothing had changed but on the scales a couple of days ago was down 6 pounds. That feels like a huge win for me. And I'm starting to feel the change in my body.

And now, after the third at this level, I can barely eat. I feel so full all the time, it's mad. I'm almost about to get worried about not eating enough.

I'm going to try and attach a chart that someone wonderful on one of these threads posted a while back, showing how it builds up in your system. I think the theory is that it takes a few months to build up for most people.

I was really discouraged until the last week or so, but now feel like it's going to have a real impact.

Obviously this is only my own experience and I am not making any recommendations, just sharing a perspective from someone it took longer for.

@Luckingfovely
Thanks for the chart. i finally got off 2lbs this morning after being stuck at the same weight for 2+ weeks. What I am frustrated about is little movement with watching calories. Usually I can get some off this way without ozempic!

Simplepink · 10/06/2023 09:11

I have done 8 weeks at 0.5. I would definitely recommend this over 4 weeks at 1.
you do also have to calorie count to an extent and definitely plan to keep calorie counting when you’re finished.
I have lost a stone in 8 weeks though and feel great. Definitely stops the “food chatter” in your brain

MedievalMadness · 10/06/2023 10:11

menora I think you’d just have to do two .25 injections.

after saying the appetite suppressant effects seem to have lessened, over the last few days my hunger has really calmed down again. I’ve just taken my last dose from .5 pen. So far I’ve lost 13 lbs in 2 months which is pretty amazing. Juniper has dispatched another .5 pen. I thought you went up to 1mg after 4 weeks on .5. but the pharmacist who answered my email, said 8 weeks at .5
My only negative side effects are tiredness and dreadful constipation. I’ve started taking lactulose and upping fruit/veg, but it’s not working yet.

SimplePink. I agree with the food chatter thing, I’m not constantly thinking about what to eat and wanting to snack. I’m also hoping to re-set my food habits as I can’t afford more than 6 months of Ozempic. I’ve gone without a holiday to afford it but see it as a good investment and worth doing.

WeightInLine · 10/06/2023 11:15

I think we are on quite similar journeys @MedievalMadness - this is my reset. I’ve delayed getting a new car so I can meet the costs of the jabs. Not regretting it, but definitely cautious about how life will be after ozempic. Will the old me be back, or are my new ways habits that I will keep?

I’ve more or less dropped dairy, bread, sugar and caffeine. But in my head a cup of tea with buttered toast and marmalade is still a very lovely thing! I don’t want to eat that now. Will I be able to control myself when I do?

I did my 5th injection yesterday with needles bought from Medino (not as pain free as the ones that come with the pens, but fine).

Friday evening has been my injection day but last weekend I went away without my pen and did the injection on Monday morning. So slightly less than 5 days between jabs. I was meant to go up to 0.5 but have decided to stay at 0.25 and just do the injections at 5days rather than 7 days to titrate up. Has anyone else done this?

whatabeautifulwedding · 11/06/2023 16:29

I am on week 2 of 0.5 pen (6 weeks altogether) and I had lost 6lb but stepped on scales this morning to find I've put 2lb back on!

I'm a bit disappointed as I have been trying to low carb and generally eat less (haven't calorie counted though). Been drinking loads of water too which usually helps.

Going on holiday in 10 days and I'd really hoped I would have lost more than this at this point, considering how much it's cost 😩

I'm going to keep persevering though.

Mephisneon · 15/06/2023 15:48

How's everyone getting on? I'm on week 2 of 0.5 I think it's having a bit more impact on my appetite and how quickly I'm full. But very little shift in the scales. Feel a bit confused by this if I'm honest.
