Ozempic new starters thread

Wondering if anyone would like to join me starting Ozempic. I’m doing my first injection tonight and am very nervous about reactions/side effects. I’m 5’ and 10.5 stones with very high blood pressure which medication is struggling yo bring down, high cholesterol and arthritis.

I would like to get to 9 stones realistically and ideally 8.5. I do seem to have unusual reactions to some medication so am really hoping I can take this without too many problems as I’m sure I’d be far healthier minus a couple stones.

BellsandsmellsI started the evening of the day mine arrived. I just wanted to start asap. I was so scared about side effects but apart from a little bit of nausea yesterday and feeling tired today, I'm ok so far. I've been out all afternoon and had some almonds , 2 oatcakes and a bottle of water and didnt feel my usual hunger pangs.

I injected in my thigh as I thought it would be easier to see what I was doing with not being confident. I didn't feel the needle going in it was so thin. But I watched the video on YouTube about 3 times so I'm sure I did it right. I was worried about it being like pregnancy sickness as that was so bad and no way could I continue if it was anything like that but so far so good. I'm hoping the second dose is as ok. I'm glad you are approved Cabbage4eva.

I’ve done it!! Didn’t hurt at all. Is it normal that when I was removing the needle I saw a tiny droplet of liquid still on the end of it? I did hold it for 6 seconds. Well 10 actually but I probably counted them too quickly.

MedievalMadness · 18/04/2023 20:37

Well done Bells I'm sure this first one will be the trickiest. I can't remember if there was a droplet on the needle after injection. Hopefully someone with more experience will know .

There was on mine both times.

Fortheloveofus · 18/04/2023 20:48

Does everyone take their injection at same time of day every week?.I did mine quite last week but might take it more early evening tomorrow. Does this few hours difference matter?

MedievalMadness · 18/04/2023 21:04

I'm going to take my second on the same evening as last week. I think it says to take it on the same day but would have to check whether it matters if it's a few hours either side. I've got a feeling it doesn't but can't swear to that

@MedievalMadness thank you

Twilightstarbright · 18/04/2023 21:43

I wouldn’t have thought a few hours mattered.

Luckingfovely · 18/04/2023 23:51

I don't think I've had any nausea at all (and suffered from morning sickness twice for four or more months, I hope that might help). 5/6 days in - and I do think I'm feeling less hungry. It might be in my head - but I'm okay with that! I'm considering taking my next dose tomorrow instead of Thursday, as I just want to get going.

Luckingfovely · 18/04/2023 23:54

Also - for anyone new reading this thread - I was so terrified about 'injecting' myself and had pictured a huge needle I had to pump into myself. It's a tiny thing, and I literally didn't even feel it. I so wish I'd started months ago.

Cabbage4eva · 19/04/2023 09:42

Oooh, nice to hear about you not having nausea after having morning sickness, @Luckingfovely ! Very encouraging.

Twilightstarbright · 19/04/2023 10:02

I’m due my second dose today. Definitely hungrier Monday onwards and had a bit of heartburn last night but very minor. I’m looking forward to weighing tomorrow and seeing the results.

Fortheloveofus · 19/04/2023 12:42

Hi everyone, after all my moaning, I've lost 3lb. Now I was definitely stsrving all week but made a concerted effort to eat healthier and I did a lot of walking amd exercise so maybe it was down to that, but even if the injection had a placebo effect for the first week, it worked.
My question is, I'm due second dose tonight but I've woke up today still hungry but feeling queasy. Anyone else took 6 - 7 days for side effects to come on or could this just be coincidence?

Fortheloveofus · 19/04/2023 12:43

Sorry for the repetition foe those on both threads!

@Twilightstarbright how did your weigh in go?

Twilightstarbright · 19/04/2023 16:04

@Fortheloveofus i ended up exercising straight on waking and didn’t want to weigh after drinking all the water! I’ll weigh tomorrow. Well done on your loss.

Saxendastarter · 19/04/2023 16:35

I'm starting tomorrow !

MedievalMadness · 19/04/2023 16:51

Fortheloveofus. 3lbs in a week is so good. I'm on day 6 after first injection and did feel a bit queasy and very tired yest when I was out. Good luck for tomorrowSaxendastarter

Hi all,

Is is feasible to loose 5kg in about 6 weeks on saxenda if my starting BMI is 34?

Any other tips for a starter ?

Thanks,

bigPileOfDough · 19/04/2023 19:47

Right, I am looking to start Ozempic as an option because no matter what I do I can't shift the weight and it's affecting my mental and physical health.

The problem is I see that Ozempic is peddled as appetite suppressant but I already don't each much and lack an appetite anyway. Is there any other reason it helps people lose weight? I don't want to spend £££ and for me to still only eat the very little I do or less and see absolutely no result.

bigPileOfDough · 19/04/2023 19:50

For info I am 5ft and 68kg (over 10.5 stone). I don't know if that's relevant.

MedievalMadness · 19/04/2023 19:53

BigPileOfDough. You might be best asking on the other thread as there's PPS on there who've been taking it much longer than those of us on here, and might be able to answer this. Same with your question Saxendastarter.

OzzyTrier · 19/04/2023 19:56

Yes, it regulates bloody sugar. So if insulin resistance is one of the reasons you can't lose.it might help.

soundsystem · 19/04/2023 19:57

Hello! Can I join in? I started on Monday and feeling mostly ok so far... hoping to lose two stone to kickstart getting back to healthier eating and exercising

Fortheloveofus · 19/04/2023 19:58

You're best looking through the 'I took ozempic last night' threads. This is a new users thread and we don't know if it's working for us yet! The other thread has people who have been taking it for a while and will have more success stories for you to read through.
I've not been able to lose a lb for nearly 3 years but have immune health problems plus menopausal despite calorie counting and exercise. I'm hoping this might kick start my body into losing weight again. It may not work for everyone. But good luck if you decide to go for it. Let us know how you get on 💐

Saxendastarter · 19/04/2023 20:07

@MedievalMadness @Fortheloveofus Thanks, I'll look at that thread ! @soundsystem Can I ask what your starting BMI is? thank
