Ozempic new starters thread

Wondering if anyone would like to join me starting Ozempic. I’m doing my first injection tonight and am very nervous about reactions/side effects. I’m 5’ and 10.5 stones with very high blood pressure which medication is struggling yo bring down, high cholesterol and arthritis.

I would like to get to 9 stones realistically and ideally 8.5. I do seem to have unusual reactions to some medication so am really hoping I can take this without too many problems as I’m sure I’d be far healthier minus a couple stones.

@Sameiam i found it thanks you. It says refer 1 friend 50%, refer 2 50% off, refer 3 get yours free.

So anyone want a referral code let me know. Just for context, with Manual I ordered and was approved on bank holiday Monday. I didnt want my GP informed so i had to upload full length photo and ID. order was displayed Tuesday and I received it Wednesday.

If you read the fine print it isn’t money off weight loss plans, so even if you get 100 people to sign up it won’t save you anything on your ozempic price. And new people get the standard 35% off without needing a referral code.

Franklin2000 · 17/04/2023 21:39

@Twilightstarbright there really is, I think it’s better to keep the pressure off too. I’m thinking the same, it’s just another tool to help. I know I can do it, I’ve lost weight before but age and pcos mean I’m hitting a wall this time!

Fortheloveofus · 17/04/2023 21:41

@Sameiam ah bloody hell. That's a kicker, eh? Was really hoping for a discount on second order. Might have to change supplier for next month. Anyone do that, just swap and change for the discount?

Franklin2000 · 17/04/2023 21:43

@Fortheloveofus thank you, I’ll search out that thread. It’s nice to hear people’s stories and tips. I’m starting to feel excited now, I’ll be checking my emails all day tomorrow!

You could use friend50 as a code on juniper to get it to £145, but I’ve heard they might have closed that now? Or the discount might still work for new people but you no longer get anything for referring people. Not sure, worth a try probably. Ukmeds is cheap but hasn’t had any stock recently, hopefully wegovy coming out makes it better.

Fortheloveofus · 17/04/2023 21:50

@Sameiam thank you. Don't have to worry about for a couple of weeks. I did read about Juniper taking the discount away at end of march. Hopefully it might come back on again

Sammysees · 17/04/2023 21:50

Wow! Well done @caringcarer. That must be amazing to get a decent nights sleep? No wonder you were so tired in the day. Good luck.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 17/04/2023 22:04

I’ve ordered with Juniper, just waiting on dispatch. I don’t plan on telling anyone I’m taking it.

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 17/04/2023 22:04

In real life that is.

Irritateandunreasonable · 17/04/2023 22:05

I just feel that in many circumstances poor relationships with food are due to mental health issues and if you don’t look at and fix that you’ll always put the weight back on.

It’s so sad that we try to medicate and operate when people need help with their heads.

caringcarer · 17/04/2023 22:06

@Sammysees yes I was shattered everyday and walking around like a zombie as once I was awake, I struggled to get back to sleep. I've managed to lose 10lb in 3 1/2 weeks. I'm very, very pleased and looking forward to buy a few new clothes for summer.

Fortheloveofus · 17/04/2023 22:10

@Irritateandunreasonable how far along in your journey are you? Are you finding it beneficial? Or are you still at the thinking about it stage?

Mine is definitely MH related. I put on 8 stone from a trauma 5 years ago. Trouble is no one will help 🤷‍♀️

Amandasummers · 17/04/2023 22:25

I did my first dose last night and have felt sick and nauseous since, today has been hell 😪

Luckingfovely · 17/04/2023 22:30

I also took my first dose last Thursday so am excited to join this thread! I can't say I've noticed much difference yet - but have also just had a bereavement so the emotional eating is in full flow. I'll attach a pic from the other thread - it seems to take a good long while to build up fully in your system, although I am banking on results - even if only psychosomatic - earlier!

So that was not the pic I meant to post - but will leave it for general inspo, if that's alright? Grin

@Amandasummers sorry to hear that. It does appear to affect some more than others. Hopefully it's short-lived. Please keep us up-to-date on how you are 💐

MedievalMadness · 17/04/2023 22:36

Its so good a bunch of us are starting more or less at the same time. Especially for those of us who haven’t told anyone we are taking it. I’m hoping for minimal side effects as it would be hard to hide it from close friends. For some reason I don’t want to too anyone either and I’m not sure why.

Cabbage4eva. I think I was only asked for my latest blood test results because I’m on 4 different drugs for high BP and they can effect kidney and liver function. The GP do an annual review and blood test to check it. I don’t think it’s a general requirement at all. I was Juniper asked because it shows they are aware of serious contraindications.

I hope this is the start of a healthier future for us all 🤞🏼

Here’s the dosing represented graphically, the peaks are dosing days and then it decreases exponentially.

Excuse the typos. I meant I was glad Juniper asked for my blood test results . And also meant I’m not sure why I don’t want to tell even my closest friends I’ve started it.

Amandasummers. That sounds awful. I so hope these side effects wear off quickly 🤞🏼.

I don’t want to be judged as if this is an easy way out. But equally I don’t want to be ridiculed about spending my money on snake oil. I feel very conflicted about the amount of money it is going to cost and I am worried it won’t work and it’ll be an expensive failure and I could do without that shame. I dunno. Lots of reasons for me I guess.

MedievalMadness · 17/04/2023 23:00

EddieHowe. Actually I think you’ve nailed why I feel so reluctant to tell anyone too. I think friends would say it was too extreme and be wondering to themselves why on earth I was doing it etc. it’s a personal choice and one that I feel is right for me to try after so many years tryIng to lose weight through diet and excercise. I’ve told my closest friends I’m on a diet because I need to lose 2 stone to help lower my BP, cholesterol and to ease my arthritis but not about taking Ozempic

Fortheloveofus · 17/04/2023 23:01

@EddieHoweisMYmanager I don't think it's snake oil. It's been proven to work or else it wouldn't have got licenced on the NHS. The cost is a different matter. It is expensive and that's a huge consideration that only you can decide whether you can afford or think it's worth it.
On the shame, judgement and ridicule point, who would judhe you so harshly? If you read through the many threads, a lot of people aren't telling anyone IRL. Can you not do the same?
I'm not telling anyone for my own reasons, which I won't go into, but nobody I know would ridicule or shame me. They may be worried because they know nothing about it, not dome the research I have, and after all, we're buying it off prescription and injecting ourselves with this stuff. But it would be the same if I decided to have a gastric band or undergo any major surgery, they'd be worried but they certainly wouldn't ridicule me.
