☀️LOSE IT! August 2022☀️

Hello & Welcome!

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into August! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Summers well under way and the kids are out for the summer. Not an easy time to navigate healthy eating! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Hello everyone!
Thank you @TheRealHousewife!
I love August and hope to continue my downward trend.

TheUnexpectedPickle · 31/07/2022 18:44

I was hoping for an August thread!

I want to lose at least 4 stone as that's what I've put on in the last 3 years. I was already overweight though so in reality its more like 8 in total.

My goal 2 stone by my holiday in November.

I've had the best results in the past with calorie counting and cutting back (but not cutting out) carbs, so that's my plan, along with ditching the wine and getting some exercise. I live right in the Surrey hills, so I'm going to start with aiming for a half hour walk every day and hope that inspires me!

Benjispruce4 · 31/07/2022 18:53

@TheUnexpectedPickle there is one! Scroll up ! Welcome.

Benjispruce4 · 31/07/2022 18:57

Oh ignore me! 🤦🏼‍♀️

GoodnightRain · 31/07/2022 20:53

I am in! The 1st of August is a Monday - my brain loves to start on a Monday.

I am 10 months postpartum and breastfeeding, I've got 3.5/4 stone to lose. Not sure what diet to follow but I'm going to reduce portions and make healthier choices. I also hope to get walking and exercising more.

Good luck everyone!

HouseofHolbein · 01/08/2022 08:03

Morning all! Thank you @TheRealHousewife for starting this thread 😊

July was shocking for me. I've added my happy scale graph for accountability 😱

August I am going to make better food choices... no chocolate or biscuits. And go out less which my weight and purse will both be happy with 🤣🤣 silent disco end of the month is a date tho!

Back to work today on a late. I've just done 2 miles on the treadmill which was hot 🤣🤣 I've increased my step target to 12k for this month which is easy on work days but hard on days off sometimes.

Good luck everyone! Off to have a shower before my shopping arrives 😊

CrimsonAlligator · 01/08/2022 08:07

Thanks for setting up a new thread @TheRealHousewife and for cheering us all on on the previous thread 😊

July wasn’t the most consistent month for me and I’m starting August on 74.9 kg, which I think is a small gain. My plan for August is to allow myself a few more daily calories, so that I don’t end up going off plan every other day. That’s the theory at least. We’ll see how it goes!

I’m calorie counting, but this month I also plan to pay more attention to my macros. I do a lot of exercise and I just don’t feel I’m eating the right macros to support that.

Good luck everyone!

MirandaWest · 01/08/2022 08:08

Have started off the day with a walk before work - I work from home in a sedentary job so need to make sure I get exercise in wherever I can. And lovely and sunny today which helps 😊

Benjispruce4 · 01/08/2022 09:07

Morning all . Beauty photo @MirandaWest and encourages me to get up and out. Just having a cuppa in bed as was awake for ages last night. Too hot! Had a lovely day yesterday shopping with DD1 who is about to start her first proper job, 14000 steps including dog walk, followed by homemade pizzas and beer watching the lionesses win the football ⚽️!!!
So I feel bloated this month but had a great day.
B-Greek yoghurt with strawberries and blueberries and a sprinkle of chia seeds for the bloat.

Benjispruce4 · 01/08/2022 09:08

*Grr beautiful photo
*this morning not month

SanFranBear · 01/08/2022 09:47

Wow, that's quite a photo, Miranda - you're very lucky to have that close to home (can only presume you weren't up at 5,30 to travel somewhere for your walk?) Looking forward to seeing some pics from you too, UnexpectedPickle. I'm quite new to hiking but it's become a bit of a passion for me.. its also pretty much the only exercise I get as I'm not a gym bunny, swimming seems to just get more and more expensive and I'm also lucky enough to live in a beautiful area.

Thanks for the new thread, RealHousewife. I've jumped on the scales this morning so I can set myself a new goal for this month and am pleasantly surprised to have only missed my July goal by a kg, which given my brief holidays and Bacon Double Cheeseburger, is unexpected. Means I'm just over 2kg down for the month - whoop!

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 75.6kg
August GW: 72kg

New goal is for a stone less than I have been in living memory (I know I was lighter in my 20s but I never weighed myself back then!) I'm then almost a healthy BMI as well and feels achievable. I've got a boozy festival at the end of the month but other than perhaps a couple of day trips and maybe one more weekend camp - should be able to knuckle down.

My plan still is to calorie count all week and have two days where I eat much less - a slightly bastardised version of 5:2 as I can't go to 500 calories but try to stick to about 800. I also get out at least once a week for a decent hike but am hoping to have a little more DC free time so I can attempt some proper distance this month.

Looking forward to another month of lovely support, kindness and ever decreasing numbers! Happy August, everyone.

TheRealHousewife · 01/08/2022 09:55

Good Morning All 😊

You are all very welcome to the new thread.

Happy 1st August! This morning I’ve spent too much time to get my Aria Air 2 to connect to Wi-Fi! It’s been connected fine but since we upgraded our router it won’t connect 🤷‍♀️. I can still weigh on it but the scale no longer syncs with the app. So frustrating!

Im pleased to report a loss of 2.9lbs for July! First significant loss since last October.

@ginsparkles that food looks delicious 😋 Pinkie Promise excepted 😬

Welcome to the thread @wannadisc0 👍Well done on taking the steps to a healthier fitter you … you'll not regret it!

@TheUnexpectedPickle Walking is excellent to increase fitness and whittling away the inches 👍

@GoodnightRain Congratulations on your baby 🥳 I agree there’s something special when the 1st falls on a Monday … so neat!

@CrimsonAlligator I think your plan to increase limit on meals sounds sensible. That way you're eating to plan rather than having unplanned (and perhaps more calorific) snacks in between. 👍

@MirandaWest that view is awesome! Very inspiring to get you out and about exercising!

Menu
Meal 1 - Courgette, potato & leek soup seasoned with tarragon (really works)
Meal 2 - Chicken salad with home made dressing. Apple.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise
Session 1 - Morning stretches - done ✅
Session 2 - Exercise bands.

Shared my Julys continual downward trend Happy Scale graph not to brag or make anyone else feel bad… to inspire because as our regular members know I never gave up trying but was resigned to being at my body’s goal.

Enjoy your day!

Ha ha @SanFranBear thats a lovely sentiment in your last paragraph. Great loss so far, we’ll done.

Benjispruce4 · 01/08/2022 09:57

*Well

TheRealHousewife · 01/08/2022 10:01

@SanFranBear sorry I cross posted. Well done on your significant loss! That’s awesome 👍👏 🥇 I tend to eat a little less on Mondays (to help rid of any weekend creep) and Thursdays (to make way for weekend creep) too 😬👍

Hi @Benjispruce4 the lionesses we’re absolutely awesome! Fantastic game and a well deserved win … the German women played dirty imo!

I'd love to join, I think accountability would help me greatly!
I'm looking to lose about 5kg (11lbs) by December and then maintain in that area.

I'm short with a short torso so even a few extra pounds really pile onto my belly and show easily.

This month I'm hoping to lose 1kg. It feels achievable without beating myself up too much.

TheRealHousewife · 01/08/2022 11:33

Welcome to the thread @december2020 👍There are some great ladies on these threads who are motivating and inspiring.

So here I am, 1st August.

Todays plan is :

Prawn mayo sandwich, a packet of savory rice cakes and berries for lunch.

Baked potatoes with beans

A Kit Kat for mid afternoon snack.

Exercise has increased I am getting a daily am and pm walk in now so fingers crossed for a better month!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 01/08/2022 12:47

Hi All
Can I join you? I am looking to loose around 10kg current weight is 74.3kg and i'd like to get to below 65kg. This will put me slap bang in the middle of the healthy BMI range. Currently on the top end of healthy so I guess these are vanity kgs but I was 65kgs around 3 years ago and I looked and felt so much better.
I am tall but have quite a narrow frame without much boob and bum so I don't carry excess weight well.
DH is going to be dieting with me and is starting with the 12kgs he needs to loose to get into he healthy weight range.
Plan is reduced carbs and processed food and focusing meals more around fresh veg and good quality meat. I am not a big breakfast person anyway so am going to be intermittent fasting on days I work from home. When I am in the office I get up so early to commute I find I start getting a headache by 10 if I don't have breakfast.

GoodnightRain · 01/08/2022 13:08

Thank you @TheRealHousewife and thanks for sharing your success - very inspiring, well done 🥰.

Looking forward to reading about everyone's wins!

fallfallfall · 01/08/2022 14:55

@CrimsonAlligator i totally agree about the macros, so much to learn. I eat clean, I eat lean and obviously only somewhat low cal (otherwise I wouldn’t be on here) so I genuinely feel it’s my food combinations not being “right”.
i’m starting super simple; focused on water and fiber in July which included a fiber supplement.
my protein was consistently too low and at my age the too low CALCIUM was a worry.
I take a Multivit (gummy!!!) and a Vit D Omega 3 suppliment.
my whole weight loss desire is to be healthier and at lower risk for cancer, heart disease, diabetes etc.
