Hello & Welcome!

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into August! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Summers well under way and the kids are out for the summer. Not an easy time to navigate healthy eating! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

I’ve not done that great either and am finishing the month 0.5 kg up. Yesterday, the scales were showing a 1.5 kg gain though, so it could have been worse! No idea how I managed to lose a whole kg overnight, but perhaps it’s my body’s way of trying to motivate me to get back on track 😁

CrimsonAlligator · 31/08/2022 07:31

X-posted! That’s a great loss @wannadisc0 . Well done!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 31/08/2022 07:33

Morning All, did my final weigh in of the month today and have ended on 70.2kgs so that is 4kgs lost in August. I am pretty pleased with that. Hoping it can continue on into. Well done everyone for sticking with it for the whole month!

MirandaWest · 31/08/2022 08:22

I weighed myself this morning as well and was 71.2kg which is just over 3kg lost this month. If I could do that again next month then I’d be only just overweight. Need to remember I’ve only been doing this for 6 weeks and loss likely to be bigger at the beginning but will keep plodding along

Lizsmum · 31/08/2022 08:29

Finishing August on 12 stone 5lb so only 1lb off this week.
Target for September will be to lose 5lbs but with 2 short holidays that will be a challenge. But hey - a challenge is always good ......

Cleopatra67 · 31/08/2022 08:35

I’m in. Weight has slowly crept back since lockdown and a couple of weeks ago I was 12 stone. I’m 5’2” so not great. I’m currently using the lose it app and calorie counting- haven’t had sugar/chocolate/ etc for two months now but am struggling with calorie allocation. I’m a teacher and back to school tomorrow and that always helps with the weight loss. Aiming for 9 stone 10 and have lost three pounds in last week.

TheRealHousewife · 31/08/2022 08:49

Good Morning Everyone 😊

My WOW is .1lb 😬 Not a lot but the right direction. My final weigh in shows a loss of 4lb which I am pleased with. After ‘maintaining’ for around a year, last month it started to move in the right direction again. Never give up.

@RadFad You are right. If you’d not made any changes you would have gained more overall. You might not have lost what you had hoped but you now know if you make sustainable and consistent changes you will lose. Well done on not giving up 👍👏

@wannadisc0 3.3kg (1/2 stone 😮) is awesome progress! Well done 👍👏

@CrimsonAlligator Our bodies are strange and wonderful things! Well done on losing a kg overnight!

@Allthegoodnamestakken 4kg is a fantastic result for August. You know what works so keep doing it! 👍👏

@MirandaWest Well done on your significant loss. You are right in that the nearer we get to goal the rate in which we lose unfortunately slows down. Keep at it, you’ll get there!

@Lizsmum A 1lb of is steady amount to lose. Just imagine if you lost that week on week. You’d be at goal in no time 😬

Remember ladies, it’s been the summer holidays and for some people that’s meant a change in routine and eating patterns. That considered I think you have all done marvellously 👏👏👏

See you on the other side 😊

Great WoW's everyone - some significant losses there with a special shout outs to wannadisc0 and RealHousewife... I don't weigh on Wednesdays - I'm a Friday woman but will do it in the morning so I can see where I'm at for September.

I will be WoW'ing later but solo as my friend has hurt her knee so shall download some podcasts and get myself out into the Forest... there's a route I've been eyeing up for a while (around 18k) and it feels like today could be the day!!

See y'all on the September thread!

HouseofHolbein · 31/08/2022 16:22

1/8 - 9st 13.4lb
31/8 9st 9lb

Happy with that. I've had a very social month 🤣🤣 lots of drinking and dancing as well as working.

I keep getting close to target and then going back up 🤣🤣 keep gaining and losing the same half stone.

Right onto September 👍

ImALittlePea · 31/08/2022 17:40

Well done everyone! Some fantastic results! I'm not weighing until Friday, but have semi-hit reset this week so I'm keeping all things crossed my overall result for the summer hols is a maintain 🤞

See you on the September thread!

TheRealHousewife · 31/08/2022 19:35

@HouseofHolbein Superstar you, losing WHILST still living it large. I’m sure you have Super Powers 😬 Well done 👏 👍

See you on the other side @ImALittlePea 👍

@TheRealHousewife I must admit I had a couple of weekends where I got all of my calories from alcohol and cereal 🤣🤣 and probably burned them all off dancing.

Here is a very bad photo of me thoroughly enjoying silent disco again 😁

Thank you for the kind words and solidarity, @TheRealHousewife @HouseofHolbein @Allthegoodnamestakken @milkfromthesleepycow @CrimsonAlligator

I've gone a bit quiet because I thought I was doing okay with some steady weight loss. Then I went away over the Bank Holiday weekend and completely overindulged! To the extent that I put on 2.5kg in three days! Is that even possible??

I feel so crap and like such an idiot! It takes such an effort to lose and just minutes to put it back on, it seems.

Anyway, I have been following this thread and you're all doing so well! I can't wait until tomorrow and the start of the September thread!

HouseofHolbein · 31/08/2022 21:16

@CrawlingFromShitshowToAfterglow draw a line under bank holiday and just move forward. Important thing is did you enjoy your indulgence? If you did work out a way to add some to your life regularly. If you didn't then remember how you feel now next time you are tempted to a blow out.

And I'll see you in the next thread!

Slightlystressedbride · 31/08/2022 23:47

@CrawlingFromShitshowToAfterglow it's water weight! Don't be disheartened. Carbs esp sugar help your body cling to water. Get back on it, you'll pee it out by the weekend! I promise!
See you on the other thread!

CrawlingFromShitshowToAfterglow · 01/09/2022 07:27

Thank you, @HouseofHolbein and @Slightlystressedbride . See you on the other one!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 02/09/2022 09:59

Morning everyone. Sorry not been on for a week or so but been very busy with work plus battling plantar fasciitis!

Saw doctor on Wednesday who confirmed I'm 63.8kg which is a bit over what I'd like but trying to get to 63kg and then down.

At weekend I had half a pink grapefruit for breakfast and then with Skyr yogurt another morning to use up the yogurts.

Have also been using a Sistema Bento box and not bothering so much about one a day.

Breakfasts so far this week have been:

  • Blueberries with Skyr yogurt and maybe a couple of days adding granola.
  • Today and yday: Blueberries with fruit and fibre cereal and covering of skimmed milk.

Lunches/snacks this week have been:

  • Some sort of bean salad (Waitrose) or salad with tiny slice of Quiche Lorraine and/or cottage cheese and/or quarter of boiled potato
  • Snacks - added to Bento box have been nectarine and Kallo small dark choc rice cakes - yday I gave 2 to a co-worker but had 3 energy balls (peanut butter and something else?) from work cafe.
  • I did pig out one evening a snaffled a whole bag of Waitrose Poppadoms after work but was starving - only had salad for lunch nothing else!

Dinners this week have been:

  • bean meal with small portion of rice with avocado and greek yogurt (dinner at mum's)
  • stir fry with small portion rice (various veggies).
  • Quiche salad and small portion boiled potato

Exercise this week has been limited due to plantar fasciitis hurting and getting some new trainers/shoes - am wearing special podiatrist soles in current trainers.

Two days walked to and from office (15 mins each way) and got to work early so walked for approx 30 mins beforehand. Have also tried to have walks round park lunch/after work.

@CrimsonAlligator as per your post of 27/8, I am to do same re protein/carbs.
