Shredding for the wedding

thismotherhoodthing · 15/03/2022 20:28

I'm getting married in July. Had a baby in October and am struggling to shift the lbs. I need to lose a decent amount of weight for my dress to fit! Starting this thread as motivation. Not looking for big long explanations and discussion, more of a daily accountability check in or motivation boost- anyone want to join me? :-)

How much do you want to lose?

thismotherhoodthing · 18/03/2022 20:32

Around a stone hopefully! Maybe a little bit more

I will join you if you're still there.
Holiday booked for the end of July so that's my target. I've always been a bit overweight but happy enough. Now I've got to the point where I'm embarrassed to wear my swimming cossie. I just want to feel happier in my own body.
Start of 2021 I went from 85kg down to 74kg. Somehow now I'm back up to 84kg. I know I can do it and I'm determined. Should have started in January but then we had covid and somehow I couldn't get motivated.
I'm doing low carb as it's the only diet that I can ever stick to. And trying to up my exercise beyond the school run and house work and gardening.

thismotherhoodthing · 22/03/2022 08:30

@wineymummy yes definitely. where are you going on holiday? i'm doing low carb too and putting meals into myfitnesspal. exercise wise i've booked one PT session a week and that's my me time (it's amazing!). other than that can't fit a great deal in so i'm going to aim for:

10,000 steps where possible
20 squats
10 press ups (i can't do these so will have to gradually build up
a plank, building up the length of time

I feel like this is actually doable as can spread it out throughout the day when i get a min.

We are going to Greece.
Day 3 for me and it's going OK. No slips yet.
Good work with your exercising! I definitely need to do more. I've been sleeping really badly recently so no energy but I know it's a vicious circle and more exercise will improve my sleep...

thismotherhoodthing · 23/03/2022 09:46

@SunnydayeverythingsAOK i love Greece! well done! i've weighed this morning and lost 7lbs since start of feb which is when i last weighed myself. i'd like to lose another stone or so though so got to keep going

Sally872 · 23/03/2022 09:51

Fantastic well done 7lbs is great.

I started yesterday after holiday booking and hope to lose a stone. Accountability thread sounds good. Managed to stick to calories and get 10k steps yesterday. Hope for the same today. Going to add the plank and squats in too, that's a really good idea.

Sally872 · 24/03/2022 07:35

Managed to stick to calories and get steps in yesterday Grin hopefully can continue today.

thismotherhoodthing · 24/03/2022 08:46

@Sally872 amazing! i did too, let's do it again today! we've got this

OP posts:
Sally872 · 24/03/2022 08:56

Well done to you too! Good luck today.

SunnydayeverythingsAOK · 24/03/2022 11:19

7lb is great, well done. Im only 4 days in and impatient to see results - silly because it'll just be water wait at this point. Doesn't help that my bathroom floor is wonky and my scales measure differently depending where I put them...

Sally872 · 24/03/2022 12:04

Made it to lunchtime without snacking which is an achievement for me.

@sunnydays I would be there all day finding best spot for scales, lol. I am also impatient just need to try and take it one day at a time.

glowingcandle · 24/03/2022 12:14

Hi can I join you? I'm 10st, this is the lowest I've been since before my eldest was born seven years ago! However I'd really like to get down to 9st 2lbs ish by the end of June if at possible as we are going on holiday then...it should be doable if I can keep motivated!

At the moment just calorie counting using MFP plus walking 10,000 steps a day, I've also started doing aerobics once a week (would love to do more but that's all I can fit in for now!)

Good luck everyone, we can do this Smile

Sally872 · 24/03/2022 12:27

That is almost the exact same as me @glowingandle. 10st 1 aiming for 9st and been a long time since I was 9stone.

Aerobics once a week with steps and calorie counting is great.

glowingcandle · 25/03/2022 07:25

@sally872 oh that is very similar!

How is everyone doing today? I'm still weighing in at 10st. I really want to start seeing 9st at the front, think that will be really motivating! Hopefully only a couple of days until that happens.

thismotherhoodthing · 25/03/2022 07:28

@glowingcandle @Sally872 that's the same as me too! I need to be around 9 stone for my wedding dress to fit I think - so stressed!

I changed my scales to just lbs rather than stone and pounds so I didn't get too obsessed with the 9-10 at the front. Although I find myself just converting it anyway!

I'm lingering around 140lbs at the moment. I need to start introducing a bit of a walk/jog I think to get some cardio in - just so nervous as I haven't done that since before pregnancy/baby so over a year now

OP posts:
Sally872 · 25/03/2022 07:47

My scales are also in lbs so I am very excited to see 130s instead if 140s. Hopefully soon.

Managed to stick to calories yesterday and it felt a bit easier, weekend will be a real challenge though. Went out a walk last night. Also took your idea of adding plank and squats @thismotherhoodthing.

Walking and jogging will be really good. It's the amount of steps/distance that matter so just start slow and build up if you're nervous.

For me the main benefit of walk is it keeps me away from the snacks in the evening!

wineymummy · 25/03/2022 18:29

Only 4 days in but did my weekly weigh this morning as I'll always weigh Fridays (before the weekend obvs.) Annoyingly no change since Monday. When I've done low carb before I've always seen a big drop in the first week. Better hope my dodgy wobbly floor was to blame.
I'll be ok as DH is out at the pub so I won't be tempted to snack. Why are men so bad at sofa snacking? Makes it so hard to resist. Tomorrow I'm out for dinner and drinks tho so that will be a slip for me I'm sure.

wineymummy · 25/03/2022 18:29

Name change fail 🤦‍♀️

Supersee · 25/03/2022 18:34

I'm day 5 low carbing. Need to lose a stone and a half at the very least. I was super motivated at the beginning of the week but I have a kid's birthday party tomorrow so I know there will be nibbles and booze for the adults. Alcohol is my downfall/crutch so it's going to be a big challenge not to succumb!

Makemedoit · 25/03/2022 18:40

Hi. Could I join you?

Have got a Christening to go to at the start of July and need to lose at least 1.5 stone to get into my dress.

Need to stop snacking and start walking and moving!!

thismotherhoodthing · 25/03/2022 18:48

@wineymummy stay strong over the weekend if you can! Sometimes the scales don't budge for a while then suddenly drop. First time I did low carb it took a few weeks then I started dropping and it was dead consistent.

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 25/03/2022 18:48

@Makemedoit yes you can! What's your goal?

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 25/03/2022 18:50

How's everyone done today? My calories have been slightly higher than all week as I did a workout but still ate healthily. Had a mini milk ice lolly in the sun while fiancé had a caramel magnum - so jealous but I know it will be worth it

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 25/03/2022 18:51

@Makemedoit ignore me you've already said your goal! How are you wanting to try and achieve it? I'm trying to do 10k steps, 20 squats, a plank (longer each time) and some press ups (starting with a few then gradually adding one) each day as well as calorie counting
