Shredding for the wedding

I'm getting married in July. Had a baby in October and am struggling to shift the lbs. I need to lose a decent amount of weight for my dress to fit! Starting this thread as motivation. Not looking for big long explanations and discussion, more of a daily accountability check in or motivation boost- anyone want to join me? :-)

@thismotherhoodthing hey!! Yes hen was brilliant. There was 14 of us and everyone got on like a house on fire, it was prob one of the best weekends of my life!

Very glad you are happy with your Botox, I am happy with mine - takes a few weeks to settle.

Oh we are getting married on the same day! 23 July right?

Our mini bus company just cancelled so that is a bit stressful trying to find alternatives to get everyone home so late in the day but DH has helped me loads with it today, and think we found solutions on the most part.

Am being less strict at the mo. Had a glass of red wine last night and some dark choc. Also found some yum protein cereal which is good if I am feeling naughty and I have with cream.

Am doing hiit and rowing regularly until the day. Main thing I am focused on is reducing bloating - had a colonic the other day and that was super effective for me. Been having quite a few herbal teas a day with dandelion, fennel, nettle etc to help with fluid retention. And also taking water pills. Also taking Agnus castus to reduce period bloat. Does feel to be working actually. As wedding is so close to when I am due on my worry is I will get super bloated next week.

Haven't weighed myself for ages because I am really happy with where I am at now and my dress fits. I think I have lost around 25kg but have prob put on a lot of muscle so reckon it's much more in terms of fat loss.
I am now a size 12/14 (5ft 7) rather than size 16/18 when I started in january, so proud of what I have achieved!! And very proud of you all of you lot too!

Good luck on final prep. I am down to writing name cards for the dinner, reserved seating cards, and printing out stuff in prep. Got some speech practice to do this week. Then to the fun final touches - highlights, spray tan, facial, nails, waxing, eyebrows!

How's everyone's prep gone or if you had your wedding already how did it go? Xx

@failinghard glad you enjoyed your hen! Sounds a lot better than mine!

Yes 23rd! I need to beat the bloat too! I went onto the pill as I was due on my period on the day. Have managed to move my period but I'm still getting cramps and bloating around the time I'm due on - so right about now! Worried I'm going to come on but also just feel rank so need to google some bloating remedies fast

@thismotherhoodthing was your hen do ok? I think they can be tricky - different people from different parts of life - hard to get the energy right sometimes

I am using Aqua Ban and HRI Water Balance plus a tea calls Nutra Release and The Busy Botanist which I just got off Amazon.

Main herbs are dandelion, nettle, juniper, parsley, peppermint, fennel seed, burdock root and uva ursi for debloating.

Wish I had got back on the pill or done something medical to intervene with cycle but left it too late. Feel like I am ovulating later this month so that is good, hopefully the witch can hold off until after our honeymoon.

Looks like weather should be nice 😊 xx

@failinghard it was ok, everyone got on really well and I have a lovely bunch of friends and family. I had said I wanted something in our home town as at the time I was struggling with LO so wasn't sure how she would be at that point. But I feel like they took it to the extreme and barely organised anything. It just felt like minimal effort and I didn't feel particularly special or like anything was personal to me if that makes sense - I had fairly low expectations as well! To be honest that's how they have been as bridesmaids and have made me feel like the whole thing is an inconvenience to them even though I'm probably the least demanding bride ever! Funny how weddings affect people isn't it

I have the water balance tabs but don't feel like they do anything! Have got some fennel and peppermint tea so going to get on that. Where are you going on your honeymoon?

@thismotherhoodthing that is very disappointing actually, I really hope they come through for the wedding but as you say keep expectations low. Maybe they are jealous and have some of their own stuff going on? Does sound like it.

My maid of honour has a lot of stresses in her life right now, I think the responsibility of all this is a huge deal to her - I feel a bit bad tbh. She forgot to invite two of my really close friends to the hen do so they thought they were not invited (I didn't know as was not in the WhatsApp group) which is really bad. I tried to speak to her about it and she flew off the handle at me. I obv knew a mistake had been made and these happen, but it's how you deal with it and she hadn't even spoken to either of them. Anyway she did her best, she is bringing the cake from London (driving to the venue even though she hates driving) and doing a speech (prob has never done one before) and is painting the table plan board - so it's a lot. She is hopefully getting married next year so hope I can return the favour!

For honeymoon I took your advice and booked a spa break close by and MIL is taking the baby for two nights / three days. We might go away somewhere at Xmas xx

thismotherhoodthing · 19/07/2022 19:04

@failinghard thanks. Tbh I think it's less jealousy and more a case of having their heads up their own arses, so to speak. Like I love them both but they are forever telling me how busy they are/how much they have on which I'm sure is true but don't we all? And I have planned a lot of hen dos (including theirs) and always managed to make the time - but yes keeping expectations low!

Sounds like your MOH has a lot going on and you sound like a pretty understanding friend. That's disappointing about your hen and your reaction though. Maybe in a few weeks she'll see it differently. Sounds like she is quite invested in the wedding which is good.

We've gone for the spa too but just for one night. Two would be amazing though! Tbh I'm looking forward to that more than the wedding.

A bit panicky about my dress, I think the seamstress has left it a little bit too long at the front and I'm tripping on it when I walk but it's too late to alter it now cause of all the detail at the bottom. Or it might just be that I'm clumsy!

@failinghard one more sleep!! Hope you're excited! I'm nervous as f*ck now. Quite stressed about tripping in my dress

I did my final weigh in this morning - haven't done any exercise this week and relaxed my diet but I'm down to 126lbs which is a 22lb loss since February. Really pleased and proud that I've done it healthily - slow and steady defo wins the race. I still defo feel more bloated and wobbly than I did before baby and think I'll always have a loose mum tum now but I'm fine with that!

Hope all your final preparations are going well! Good luck for tomorrow and have the BEST time!
