Shredding for the wedding

thismotherhoodthing · 15/03/2022 20:28

I'm getting married in July. Had a baby in October and am struggling to shift the lbs. I need to lose a decent amount of weight for my dress to fit! Starting this thread as motivation. Not looking for big long explanations and discussion, more of a daily accountability check in or motivation boost- anyone want to join me? :-)

@Choppies what IF you doing? I am trying to eat dinner a lot earlier. We're weaning too and defo agree it encourages dirt clean up

@thismotherhoodthing totes agree re sunny weather. It's gone rubbish again hasn't it

thismotherhoodthing · 30/03/2022 23:32

We're starting weaning soon hopefully that will help.

I am having a massive stress about my wedding dress. If it doesn't fit I'm worried I will have a last minute panic on my hands. When I bought it I was quite a bit slimmer than I am now and even then I wanted to lose weight for it to look better on me.

Also Getting frustrated with the lack of time to do the exercise I enjoy eg swimming, running.

Please send motivation my way! I need to absolutely shred this belly fat

@thismotherhoodthing you can 💯 do this! You have time. Are there any good walks you can go on nearby and put baby in carrier for extra calorie burn, then make that a daily thing you do together? Honestly the game changer for me losing rapidly was increasing the protein, I don't get as hungry and it's fat that's coming off not muscle now.
Do you think there's a way to get some childcare, just for a couple of hours a week so you can do a class or go for a run? Childcare.Co.uk is good for finding support. Or can you get an exercise bike and do it when baby naps / gets into more of a nappy schedule? Even just 20 mins here and there would be amazing.

Honestly you can do this!

thismotherhoodthing · 31/03/2022 09:42

@failinghard thanks so much. I have been going for walks although it's snowing again today so will
Probably avoid the carrier. I've been trying to use the carrier more for various reasons but my baby won't sleep in it now she's bigger so have to time it when she's awake.my parents have been on holiday for a few weeks but they're back now so I think they could help me out with a bit of childcare and I could try and do a few little workouts. Tried to do one this morning while she napped but by the time I'd put a wash on, washed and sterilised bottles and got her stuff ready for the day she'd woke up early from her nap. Little tinker!

Choppies · 31/03/2022 19:06

The babies do really stymie the exercise! I’m trying upping my protein and only eating 9-5.

Impressed you’ve all got the energy for exercising on little sleep

thismotherhoodthing · 31/03/2022 19:08

@failinghard I managed a kettlebell workout today while LO slept. Only a ten minute one as she didn't nap for very long but it was something!

Finishing today within my calories again so really hoping to lose a bit in next few days. Hope everyone is staying on track and feeling ok

@thismotherhoodthing boom go get it mama! I need to get some weights.

I went a bought a rowing machine off market place today, £30 bargain. I am going to set it up so I can do 30 mins once bubba has gone to bed. I have a really fat back and think this is the best thing you can do.

Managed to get out to swimming today, had a short walk, 20 min HIIT and 1375 cals.

My weight loss tea came today. I didn't get Bootea as it had bad reviews, but I got another - two different teas, one for morning and one for night.

Going to weigh tomorrow!

thismotherhoodthing · 31/03/2022 20:32

@failinghard thanks lovely!

That's awesome, well done you! Rowing machine a bargain! I'm thinking of getting something for at home but not sure what. We have plenty dumbbells and kettle bells. Which tea did you get? Let me know how it goes.

Defo very 'cleansing' haha 😂

Wouldyoubabys · 31/03/2022 21:14

Oooh please can I join in? I’m also getting married in July, but my ‘baby’ turned 10 last week so I have no excuse! I’m 175lbs and really want to be 140. I keep getting overwhelmed and losing my motivation and I don’t know why as I HATE the way I look?!

So, my pledge is:
10k steps a day.
3 x 5k runs a week
1200 calories a day
2.5 litres of water a day.

To add an extra spanner in the works, I’m having a boob reduction in May. I’m hoping that’s atleast 7lbs off my target weight loss in boob gone though!

thismotherhoodthing · 01/04/2022 07:52

@Wouldyoubabys of course! Just check in each day sounds very achievable I'm sure you can totally smash it! Boob reduction will make you feel like a new woman as well!

I've weighed in this morning and the scales haven't moved I'm stuck at 140. Went down briefly to 139 earlier in the week. Oh well just got to keep pushing. It's my TOTM so that's probably having a bit of an impact as well.

@failinghard I've upped my protein as well and aiming for 120g a day so will see if that helps. I'm trying to limit my carbs but think maybe I'm having too many fats. All healthy ones like salmon, almonds, eggs etc and I'm tracking the cals but going to up protein and reduce fat to see if that helps

Hope everyone feeling positive today - focus on how you want to feel! You can totally do this

thismotherhoodthing · 01/04/2022 07:54

@Choppies @Sally872 @glowingcandle @wineymummy how are you getting on?

OP posts:
SunnydayeverythingsAOK · 01/04/2022 08:43

Hi, still going here. My scales are still really dodgy, I got a 14kg difference in readings this morning depending where I put them so I've given up weighing. I've definitely slimmed down since I started and have got into the swing of things, snacking less and sticking to my no carb plan. I've got weekend plans which mean drinking again but I'm in this for the long haul so not going to deprive myself of a fun night out but will try to keep on track generally.
My workouts are still limited to endless mum duties, but I've been decorating our spare room every night this week which is a whole lot of stretching and toning surely?!

BlueJayCailin · 01/04/2022 08:53

Hallo all! Can I join in?

I had a baby in Jan and am having a wedding in July - so good incentive to get back down there! I was 155lbs at my lightest and felt great, but was about 162lbs when I got pregnant and am now 170lbs so dying to get half a stone off at least by July!

I’m back at the gym doing HIIT classes 3x a week and get out for a walk every day… but I’m eating so many carby snacks (which I tell myself is for breastfeeding Hmm ). Going to:

  • up the walks to be at least 30 min a day
  • track on MyFitnessPal

And if I can do those solidly for a week maybe I’ll try add something else!

BlueJayCailin · 01/04/2022 08:54

@Wouldyoubabys sounds like we have similar starting points although you’re way more ambitious! I love it! Hope today goes well for you

thismotherhoodthing · 01/04/2022 09:03

@SunnydayeverythingsAOK decorating is a workout for sure! Maybe scales need new batteries!? I used to take measurements rather than weigh and it was a lot more accurate, been thinking of doing that again. Well done for sticking at it!

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 01/04/2022 09:04

@BlueJayCailin very impressed and very jealous you're back at the gym already ! Well done you! Of course you can join, you've got this you can totally get in shape
For the wedding!

OP posts:
failinghard · 01/04/2022 18:03

Welcome @BlueJayCailin and @Wouldyoubabys

We went to give notice of marriage today. Can't believe that's come around so quickly. Eek.

I defo think I have the most to shift in this group, I am currently 203lbs. Have already lost 28lbs in 3 months (wasn't exercising as hard as I am now and was eating more cals as bf), and have 4 months to the wedding, I don't even know what is realistic or healthy to lose! I'd like to try to go for another 40lbs. Currently losing about 0.5lb a day, 120 days to go.

Had quite a good day on cals, had some sushi as a treat for dinner. Feel like it's the best takeaway you can have. I have the day off being a mum tomorrow and am having a facial, then meeting up with friends for a bottomless brunch. Any tips on minimising impact? I want to have a bit of fun, I am thinking maybe I'd drink vodka, soda and fresh lime (is this the lowest calorie drink?), then avoid carbs on the food side.

Xx

thismotherhoodthing · 01/04/2022 19:52

@failinghard you're doing SO well! I'm trying so hard not to feel down about not losing any weight this week. Not sure if I need to lower my calories more.

I'd say maybe go for lower carb meal and have a glass of water between each drink! Then either vodka soda or gin and slimline tonic depending on what you like to drink. And avoid a takeaway on the way home!

OP posts:
BlueJayCailin · 01/04/2022 20:19

@failinghard god well done on 28lbs down! That’s fab. Vodka and low cal mixer sounds like a great plan! I also try and not eat and drink at the same time at these things (so I only have water with my food) which helps me a bit.

Just had Indian takeaway for dinner! But cooked a load of freezer ready veg to add to the sauce and ended up having half a main (and half a naan) and saving the other half for tomorrow which I’m pleased with :)

failinghard · 01/04/2022 20:24

@thismotherhoodthing thank you!! It just feels like such a mammoth task alongside first time mother hood and planning a wedding!

Hope everyone's set for a healthy(ish), active(ish) weekend xx

Honestly, I’m in awe of you guys who are doing this with new babies. My sons 10 and sleeps and it’s hard enough!

How’s everyone’s day been? I’ve been SO good on calories - 1050. That includes a glass of champagne as we sent our wedding invitations out today. Any excuse! lol! Speaking of fizz - that’s a good alternative to vodka and tonic too. There’s 80 calories in a glass!

@BlueJayCailin - I am counting on losing some weight by cheating and counting my boob reduction! These bad boys have to weigh quite a bit, they are huge Grin

thismotherhoodthing · 01/04/2022 22:03

@failinghard oh I'm the same. It's so much isn't it. I just had a bit of a meltdown today about the amount of stuff on my plate. We also moved house when I was pregnant so trying to decorate and do home improvements etc and it all just feels like a lot

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 01/04/2022 22:04

@Wouldyoubabys that's amazing well done! I think I'm gonna have to lower my calories a bit more to be honest! I've done ok today, stayed within my calories and did a workout.

OP posts:
failinghard · 02/04/2022 10:44

Morning how's everyone's Saturday going?
Baba slept through again and managed to get on the bike before I left for London. Had a protein shake for breakfast, stomach is already gurgling and not eating till 2pm. Give me strength!!
