Shredding for the wedding

I'm getting married in July. Had a baby in October and am struggling to shift the lbs. I need to lose a decent amount of weight for my dress to fit! Starting this thread as motivation. Not looking for big long explanations and discussion, more of a daily accountability check in or motivation boost- anyone want to join me? :-)

Had my day out on Sat, had a lovely time. Did extra steps yesterday but have still put on 1lb. Will be last eating out/drinking for a while I think.

Back on track today though.

Plan to try the 8 min work outs this week and also fruit tea. I forgot I used to drink fruit tea as I don't need a biscuit with it.

Good luck today everyone.

failinghard · 28/03/2022 10:20

@thismotherhoodthing my baby was born 22 October so super close! I put on a shed tonne of weight post birth, breast feeding had the opposite effect of weight loss - made me ravenous and sedentary!

I think I've got covid so not sure I can exercise today or if it's even a good idea - gutted.

Managed to stick to fair healthy food yesterday despite being Mother's Day, did have a small glass of wine but first in a while.

failinghard · 28/03/2022 12:11

Nettle and fennel teas really good for detox and weight loss @thismotherhoodthing @Sally872 x

thismotherhoodthing · 28/03/2022 15:05

@failinghard oh no! So sorry to hear that hope you feel better soon! I was the same didn't gain that much during pregnancy although did lose my fitness which I'm feeling now. Hope you feel better soon. Nettle and fennel tea is a good shout!

@Sally872 sure that lb is just water weight and will drop right off! Glad you enjoyed your day out

I'm annoyed, weighed in this morning after a week of low carb and apparently had gained 1kg??!
Previously the weight has fallen off for me in the first week or 2 before steadying.
I've been really good but probably need to stop snacking on high calorie snacks and stick to my 3 meals a day....really hoping this is my body taking a little while to recognise what's happening and then will start burning it all off.
To be fair I did drink Fri, Saturday and Sunday evenings and Saturday was 3 pints and a glass of wine so that's hardly best behaviour but surely wouldn't make me gain 1kg compared to my usual pre -diet behaviour.
The fruit tea tip is good, I need to get some new ones!

thismotherhoodthing · 28/03/2022 19:02

@wineymummy alcohol will definitely make you hold the water weight similar to carbs! Also TOTM etc can have an impact. You could track calories for a few days to make sure you're not going over as low carb usually means high fat so have to be careful with portion size?

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 28/03/2022 19:11

Finishing today within my calories although have definitely snacked a bit more and feeling a bit sluggish. Think it's the change in weather! Will have a lean day tomorrow!

Hope everyone staying strong!

@thismotherhoodthing I basically just go to co op and buy whatever is on offer Grin Just had twinings cranberry and raspberry, would recommend that one!

Do others use MFP to track calories? I do like the weight predictor thing ("if every day were like today, in five weeks you'd weigh...") although I don't know how realistic it is! I was under my calorie goal today though so I'm happy.

Choppies · 29/03/2022 01:02

@failinghard

Choppies · 29/03/2022 01:04

@failinghard that’s great so far! You’re doing much better than me with both diet and the baby routine haha! How much more to go before the dress does up?

Sally872 · 29/03/2022 07:16

Busy day yesterday so didn't get my steps in and a bit over calories too. Need to get properly back on track today. Luckily should be able to manage walk, plank, squats today so should be manageable to stick to plan. Good luck everyone!

failinghard · 29/03/2022 15:08

@Choppies yes I had quite a bit to lose, after pregnancy and bf, I wound up at 15.5 stone. I am 5ft 7 so ideally 11.5 stone would be good, I think I'll be back to size 12 then which is when I look my best. Not super skinny but slim. Got 30ish lbs to go and 4 months, it's possible but I need to make good decisions everyday day x

Choppies · 29/03/2022 17:36

@failinghard - I totally get you! I have had one big fall off the wagon this month and the progress is slow but it is steady! If you build up cardio it’s easier to burn more calories in longer runs in my (pre-baby) experience so that can help accelerate things! Also I’m counting on my motivation racking up closer to the big day haha - so losing 0.4kg a week will become 1200 calorie a day for the month before the final dress fitting!

failinghard · 29/03/2022 19:00

@Choppies oh you are getting married too, when's the big day? I think also completely cutting carbs can see the weight coming right off. I personally couldn't do that for more than 2 weeks but I will be resorting to desperate measures closer to the time.

Anyone tried Bootea? Does it work?

Choppies · 29/03/2022 19:54

My wedding is June 4th but my first dress fitting is in 2 weeks so it’s ‘squeaky-bum-time’ already. DP has been off work for a few days and it’s harder to diet with him around as he’s a tall man who then does a run in the evening so he keeps eating brownies in front of me :(

I might do a week of 1200 calories a day just to boost the weight loss - can’t maintain an under 1500 calorie diet longer than that tbh - I get too grumpy then just fall off the wagon. Or might try IF or 5:2??

glowingcandle · 29/03/2022 22:36

Anyone tried Bootea? Does it work?

Never heard of it but I'm up for anything! Off to google it...

I was at aerobics tonight, I was looking in the mirror and realised my arms are so flabby. I think ideally I should be doing more strength exercises but just got to take it one step at a time!

It was a good diet day at least, well below my goal today.

thismotherhoodthing · 30/03/2022 07:23

@glowingcandle I'm using MFP too yep!

@Sally872 I didn't manage yesterday either and had a Clint of cake with lunch. Although I knew I would so I skipped brekkie in preparation and had salad for lunch and tea. Weight is 140 this morning, hoping to shed another on in next few days

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 30/03/2022 07:23

*slice not Clint lol

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 30/03/2022 07:25

@Choppies bootea is basically a laxative! I'd avoid it to be honest. It might work but you will be running to the loo!

OP posts:
glowingcandle · 30/03/2022 09:51

@thismotherhoodthing snap my weight was also 140 this morning Grin Hoping to see something in the 130s by the weekend...

Sally872 · 30/03/2022 13:00

I forgot to weight this morning, oops! Hopefully good news tomorrow. Good luck all.

failinghard · 30/03/2022 17:09

Managed to get back on the HIIT this morning and have been running around the house like a mad woman getting shit done! Feel much more energised and lurgy mostly gone. Baby slept through from 7:30pm - 5:30am in her own room for first time ever!!

Going to weigh in weekly on Friday and hoping for a decent loss as been super good on cals this week and basically skipping lunch, replacing with Grenade bar which seems to be working well, feel like weight is dropping off

thismotherhoodthing · 30/03/2022 17:44

@failinghard that's good! I've been having a protein shake or protein powder with yoghurt for breakfast but think I might have to have that for lunch instead to see some results. Well done on the HIIT I am still struggling to do any workouts outside of my PT sessions, I find it easier to exercise in the warmer weather in the cold I just have no energy! We've had snow here today Sad

Excellent sleep victory too!

OP posts:
Choppies · 30/03/2022 17:57

Congrats on sleep victory @failinghard - we are still up 3 times a night :( I’m back on the wagon but only a 0.3kg loss this week. The next 2 weeks I’m going to really do my best - moving to a brunch/early dinner meal pattern to help control calories and IF. At least baby encourages me to eat ‘proper food’ as she eats it too!
