Shredding for the wedding

thismotherhoodthing · 15/03/2022 20:28

I'm getting married in July. Had a baby in October and am struggling to shift the lbs. I need to lose a decent amount of weight for my dress to fit! Starting this thread as motivation. Not looking for big long explanations and discussion, more of a daily accountability check in or motivation boost- anyone want to join me? :-)

Did you make it till 2pm @failinghard?!

I’ve been okay so far today. Went to the cinema and had half a kids popcorn, then zizzis and had one of their under 600 cal meals. I’m feeling full now, so hoping to make it through till tomorrow and have a mega low calorie day. (Well, 850!) I was so proud of myself for turning down a starter, wine and dessert! The kids thought I was bananas!

What day do you all weigh in on? I’m going to try make it till Thursday and hopefully see a drop - I have a habit of doing it every day and getting disheartened!

failinghard · 02/04/2022 17:52

@Wouldyoubabys sounds like you made some very good choices! Love Zizzis.

Made it till 2pm. Had about 5 glasses of champagne though, whoops! But fairly low carbs.

Yeah I have been doing daily weigh in for the last couple of days and it's defo disheartening... I think every Friday for me.

X

thismotherhoodthing · 02/04/2022 20:49

@Wouldyoubabys I do it every day but I use the Fitbit app which gives you the average across the week so it's actually quite good as I use compare week on week. I think weekly weigh ins are disheartening if you pick a day when you're bloated etc you could be 3lbs heavier!

I've managed to stay on track today, went into town and made my lunch to take out with me so I didn't buy something unhealthy. Finishing on 1198 cals. Going to my parents for lunch tomorrow so hoping for a healthy option!

Someone once gave me the tip to weigh in on a Monday to encourage not to slip up on a weekend! Worth thinking about maybe!

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 03/04/2022 07:10

Well I've gained 3lbs overnight! I'm definitely blaming TOTM as I have been good all week. Starting this week I'm going to start taking measurements as well as weighing

glowingcandle · 03/04/2022 07:29

Sorry I've been missing the past few days, I've had a really busy time with work etc. Fortunately this means I've hardly had any time to snack so I've finally broken the 10st barrier! I weighed in at 9st 13.5lbs this morning. Hoping to be around 9st 9lbs by the end of the month.

@thismotherhoodthing sounds like it must be TOTM to me, I always gain weight just before my period too but it falls away again afterwards. I think it's meant to be water retention from something I read.

thismotherhoodthing · 03/04/2022 09:09

@glowingcandle I hope it is, as I've been so good. I was 139.8 yesterday and this morning 142! It's given me a kick up the arse though and I went out for a run this morning - my first post baby run! I am exhausted haha

Well done on your loss that's amazing!!

OP posts:
BlueJayCailin · 03/04/2022 15:54

@thismotherhoodthing fair play on the run! How did it feel? I haven’t been able to run yet - feels v funny - so am very impressed!

I had a few too many drinks lat night - including some baileys in coffee - which is definitely not in my plan… but made it to the gym this morning so feeling good about that!

Choppies · 03/04/2022 17:25

Gah I fell off the wagon!! Had a very very rare night out with my sister babysitting. I only G&Ts but then had a bacon sarnie and fish and chips as I was feeling weak. Almost back home ready for my Monday morning weigh in. Only 2 months to the wedding now so really need to put this episode behind me.

@thismotherhoodthing well done on the run! And well done to all gym go-ers. I managed a few long walks this weekend at least with my sisters new puppy and a lot of dancing!

Chocolatemushrooms · 03/04/2022 17:34

Oh can I join please. I also had a baby in October & getting married in July, I've got just under 2 stone to loose x

thismotherhoodthing · 03/04/2022 17:51

@BlueJayCailin thanks! I had my baby in October so she's five months - not sure I could have done it before now! It felt good but very hard!

@Choppies ahh you have to take these opportunities when they come along! It's just one night out so just get back on it and you'll be fine! Hope you had a lovely time!

@Chocolatemushrooms of course! Your dates are the same as mine - we can motivate each other? We can totally
Do this the hardest part is getting going

OP posts:
failinghard · 03/04/2022 20:23

@Choppies sound you had a bloody great night! I think 80/20 is the way to go, be good 80% of time and forget about the other 20%

@thismotherhoodthing well done on your run!

@BlueJayCailin baileys is my guilty pleasure - absolutely love it. Awesome you made it to the gym

@Chocolatemushrooms welcome! I also had a baby in October and am getting married in July. Seemed like a good idea the time haha - how much you looking to lose?

I managed to have quite a good day today, protein shake for breakfast, protein bar for lunch, and then a main meal of lamb roast but skipped potatoes and just veg. Did some HIIT this morning and have been running around all day sorting stuff out in the house and packing for a little break next week. So much shit to pack for 6 month old! Anyway I wanted to have a super low cal, low carb day because yesterday I had 5 glasses of champagne and some Mexican food for lunch, then homemade
spag Bol (with brown rice spaghetti- little healthy hack) for dinner. Not terrible but a bit of a bigger day than normal.

Not going to weigh myself till Friday. We're going to a place that has a pool and gym but also lots of really naughty food, so who knows how this week is going to go. Also going out at night for
partners birthday, having a baby sitter for first time!

Let's do this! X

Choppies · 03/04/2022 20:26

@thismotherhoodthing and @failinghard - I did have a bloody good night! Now opportunities to let my hair down are so limited I make the most out of them!

Enjoy the break and try and keep to the 80:20 rule!

Chocolatemushrooms · 03/04/2022 20:44

@thismotherhoodthing and @failinghard, I gained 5 stone having my baby, I've lost 2 stone 8lbs so hoping to loose as much as possible to get back to where I was. Trying to stick to 1300 calories a day give or take, I don't count on a Sunday though & I weight on a Sunday morning. I love hula hooping but with 3 children there isn't much time so I try to walk lots.

failinghard · 03/04/2022 20:54

@Chocolatemushrooms in a similar boat as you, similar gain... breast feeding made me super hungry and lazy, and I ate chocolate for 3 months 😜. I have lost 2 stone and have 3 more to lose - just under 4 months to go - it's going to take a miracle but going to give it a go x

It's so hard with a time limit! I breast fed for a few months & some how didn't feel to hungry. I now just have 3 meals a day no snacks & that seems to help x

thismotherhoodthing · 04/04/2022 20:10

@failinghard sounds like a lovely break!

@Chocolatemushrooms that's an amazing loss already, well done!

How's everyone done today? I've stayed within calories but not had enough protein. Was back to 139 on the scales today which just shows how crazy it is. I feel like I'm really going to struggle to shed the weight it's just not coming off very quickly at all

OP posts:
Choppies · 04/04/2022 21:36

I’m back on the wagon with small portions of proper food and managed to get out for a hilly walk with the pram. Really being disciplined about my steps and my 8-minute arms every day now. Not going to weigh Myself until the 13th now I think - need to stop obsessing over the scale and just try my best

thismotherhoodthing · 05/04/2022 19:16

@Choppies that's very sensible. Slow and steady wins the race and you're being really consistent.

I haven't been as good as usual with my food choices today as had a bit of a difficult day with my LO so just had to grab what I could. Have still come in under my calories though. Going to attempt another jog/run tomorrow

OP posts:
Wouldyoubabys · 05/04/2022 22:59

Hi everyone. How is everyone getting on? @thismotherhoodthing don’t beat yourself up - you had a difficult day but still came under calories!

I’ve fallen totally off the bandwagon this end. I’ve got a crappy cold (actually feel worse than when I had Covid!) so have been really lethargic and not done any exercise. We tested wedding cakes yesterday and went to see a show tonight so that has been coupled with a few blow outs. I’m going to try really hard again tomorrow and weigh in on Thursday. Trying to remember any loss is a loss….. but, Blurgh!

thismotherhoodthing · 06/04/2022 07:11

@Wouldyoubabys don't throw in the towel just get back on it! Life happens sometimes but main thing is you dont use it as a reason to quit!

I am feeling dreadful too. Got a rotten cold so need to do a Covid test today.

My weight is really stuck around 140 - anyone got any tips to break through this plateau?

OP posts:
Choppies · 06/04/2022 07:50

Seems like we have all had the odd ‘cheat day’ but still all managing to lose weight
so just get right back on the wagon and don’t let a bad day become a bad week!

@thismotherhoodthing maybe try mixing up the type of exercise you’re doing? HIIT can be good for breaking through a plateau - I hate the workouts but they’ve helped be when I’ve stalled with weight loss previously - I just do them for a few days

thismotherhoodthing · 06/04/2022 12:25

@Choppies definitely need to up my cardio. Although just tested positive for Covid today which has thrown a spanner in the works!

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 07/04/2022 22:14

How is everyone doing? Is everyone still going?

I've struggled today with having Covid so have hardly done any steps as I'm exhausted. Still managed healthy food choices though.

OP posts:
Wouldyoubabys · 07/04/2022 22:18

Can I hide here with you all? I’ve had a shitty day (see my other thread on probably needing to cancel the wedding) I had a fuck tonne of wine and chocolate crap earlier, but now I feel sick. I weighed in this morning and ironically had lost 2.5lbs this morning though.

Well done on still making healthy choices @thismotherhoodthing - how are you feeling with Covid? I hope it’s not too bad for you Flowers
