Shredding for the wedding

thismotherhoodthing · 15/03/2022 20:28

I'm getting married in July. Had a baby in October and am struggling to shift the lbs. I need to lose a decent amount of weight for my dress to fit! Starting this thread as motivation. Not looking for big long explanations and discussion, more of a daily accountability check in or motivation boost- anyone want to join me? :-)

@Wouldyoubabys I'm not sure how to see your other post? I use the MN app. Are you ok? What's happened?

thismotherhoodthing · 07/04/2022 23:44

@Wouldyoubabys ok I just found it. Cripes. I mean we're doing our legal bit separately to our wedding so you could always do that! Hope you get sorted!

I'm feeling rotten and can't sleep at all hence why I'm on MN

Sorry I have been MIA, life is really hectic at the mo. I have had a quick read through!
I was also struggling with not seeing a shift on the scales, even though I've been really good with no carbs. This week I've started a sort of 16:8 low carb version and that seems to have helped. Despite my dodgy scales the numbers do now seem to be dropping.... We're decorating on a carpet -fitting deadline so it's every evening and a late dinner which doesn't help the 16:8 but sticking to healthy, last night a big bowl of cauliflower rice and grilled prawns and veg.
I really feel for all the brides with cancelled weddings trying to get back into their dresses! I've never been as thin as I have was pre-wedding and now I'm 2 kids down that seems really difficult, so best of luck to you all! If you need to adjust the dress or buy a new one it's not the end of the world, but I can imagine quite annoying!

thismotherhoodthing · 08/04/2022 10:51

@SunnydayeverythingsAOK that sounds like hard work! Well done for sticking to healthy meals. The decorating is a good workout too! I've been thinking of trying 16:8 or 5:2, let me know how it goes!

Also this is me - at my thinnest pre Covid and now at my largest. I'll need a back up plan I think!

Hey ladies!

I got back from our break last night and am just trying to get back on track. I over indulged big time - puddings, wine, cocktails, steak, seafood, a fry up, juices, ice tea etc etc

But that's our last time out until the wedding. Tbh holidays just aren't that much now we have a kid and it's very disruptive for the baby and us with diet, exercise etc.

Also had the most brutal massage when I was away and it's really messed up my back, can hardly lift the baby! Been resting but hopefully I can get back on the exercise tomorrow.

So sorry to hear about the covid @thismotherhoodthing - wishing you super speedy recovery xx

BlueJayCailin · 08/04/2022 20:12

@thismotherhoodthing sorry re Covid!! That sounds like a right ‘mare :( hope you feel a bit better soon!
@Wouldyoubabys read your other thread and am so sorry - what a mess - and what a muppet your DH was! Am glad you two are back on the same team now!!

I have had a bit of a blowout week - had a work training and it was canapés for lunch and dinner which are always a nightmare to try and be healthy with (although was fun!). At a hen do tomorrow as well… let’s see! Pleased with today at least x

thismotherhoodthing · 09/04/2022 09:03

@failinghard that all sounds amazing! There's no point going somewhere nice if you can't enjoy it so pleased you indulged. That massage sounds painful though! I've had that before, hopefully in a day or two you'll feel better. How was it being away with baby? We haven't done it yet but thinking of visiting my fiancé's family in Ireland soon

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 09/04/2022 09:03

@BlueJayCailin enjoy the hen do! Canapés are sneaky little things!

OP posts:
failinghard · 09/04/2022 19:21

@thismotherhoodthing being away with the baby wasn't great tbh - you just need so much stuff and it's hard to recreate a routine but we did have a babysitter in the evening so having a few hours just us made up for the inconvenience eg sharing a room again with baby again (she recently went in her own room). But I think with family it would be quite different as they will have a lot of the stuff you need, they will be able to help out and you'll know the area. Defo think self catering is better for young kids vs a hotel.

Yeah the massage with brutal! Defo getting better, got a couple of creams now. I am going to think twice about the deep tissue massage going forward!

What are you thinking for honeymoon? We're really not sure what to do, what we'd enjoy etc

I've had an ok day, did a HIIT and also did some rowing for first time on the new machine. Went out to a first bday party with free drinks and free pizza... normally I'd be all over that but turned down the pizza (which annoyingly looked bloody awesome)... and I ate my protein bar instead lol. I did drink but did vodka and soda, and a couple of Prosecco. Healthy breakfast and salad for dinner. Not amazing but not bad under circumstances xx

thismotherhoodthing · 09/04/2022 20:35

@failinghard that's what I imagined. We were supposed to go visit last month but cancelled as the amount of stuff we'd have to stick on a plane for a two day trip was insane.

For honeymoon we're just thinking of doing a lovely spa somewhere not too far (maybe about 90 mins drive). Then maybe having a summer holiday with the baby in September time, maybe a villa on a Greek island - but we'll see! I don't think I'd want to leave the little one for longer than a night or two but not sure how I feel about a full on holiday with her yet

Well done for turning down the pizza! I've had an ok-ish day. Didn't track everything so I know I've gone over cals a bit but I ate fairly healthily. Pretty good considering Covid is kicking my ass!

Yeah exactly the same position @thismotherhoodthing - just in a bit of a fun limbo right now - they need so much equipment and routine is full on at this age - bottles, napping, entertainment, weaning etc etc so anything adult fun is a bit sabotaged - but are also too young to take much in / move around independently / engage with surroundings, so anything child led would be wasted on them (which actually we'd prob enjoy haha) but also cannot / don't want to leave them alone for more 1-2 nights. Actually even one night in spa alone with my partner sounds lush! Prob do the same and leave her with family for the first time ever argh.

I defo want to do a longer holiday at some point with her but don't have a sense of when that will be.

Used to love a holiday, now just seems so challenging!

Anyway, we digress, let's go get those bikini bods ladies!

(I've had few vodkas)

thismotherhoodthing · 10/04/2022 14:19

@failinghard love it! Hope you had a fun night!

Yeah I think a spa night is the way forward tbh. We're aiming for one that's not too far away so we're not wasting time travelling and can have maximum relaxation/champagne drinking time!

Finally able to leave the house today so just trying to get some steps in!

How's everyone's week going?

I have had a busy week, drove up to London to see a friend and have spent about 6 hours in a car with the baby over 24 hours. Everything aches. Almost broke me lol

So honouring my energy today and having a chilled one, no exercise, no socialising, a lot of self care, nourishing food and Netflix. Back on my bullshit tomorrow!

@thismotherhoodthing 💯 somewhere close
X

Choppies · 14/04/2022 16:11

Bleurgh sorry I’ve been MIA - had covid which just floored me for a week. Weight loss slow as exercise was zero and motivation also zero. Buuut…. Scales said 64.8 today so I’ve decided to start a target of 62kg for the wedding in 6 weeks - it’s so close now I need something to aim for but also need to consider dress fitting. If I can get to 62kg I will have lost 10kg which will be great for me!

@thismotherhoodthing - all recovered now?
@failinghard - we all need a rest day now and again! It sounds well deserved.

failinghard · 14/04/2022 18:15

@Choppies 10kg is amazing! You're going to look incredible!

thismotherhoodthing · 14/04/2022 19:43

@Choppies 10kg is insane! Well done you! That's a food realistic target as well for the next six weeks so hopefully you feel positive. I feel ok now but Covid totally floored me. Hope you're feeling ok!

@failinghard bless you. You must be exhausted hope you managed to rest up today

I've weighed myself today and im 137. Up a little bit as I was 136 at the beginning of the week but so pleased it's going on the right direction. I took my measurements though and im quite a way off my dress fitting correctly still

OP posts:
Wouldyoubabys · 14/04/2022 19:44

You are all doing so well! @Choppies 10kg is fab!

@failinghard you need to rest, are you feeling better after a day on the sofa?

I’m still here. We have decided to go ahead with the wedding in the hopes it can take place. This week has been horrific though, and I’ve eaten all the crap and drank all the wine. We are on holiday next week so I think I need to get my head in a better place so I can start back properly when we get home.

I hope you don’t mind me posting here, I feel a bit of a fraud with everything going on, but it didn’t feel right to name change.

hugocat · 14/04/2022 19:59

Me too in July . I'll join you

thismotherhoodthing · 14/04/2022 22:20

@Wouldyoubabys why do you feel a fraud? Are you ok?

@hugocat of course! Just share your goals

OP posts:
Wouldyoubabys · 15/04/2022 07:37

@thismotherhoodthing ah just because I was so focused on losing weight for the wedding and now I don’t even know if it’s going ahead, but I’m still here. I weighed myself this morning and despite eating all sort of crap, I’ve lost 3lbs this week.

I hope everyone suffering with Covid starts feeling lots better soon Flowers

thismotherhoodthing · 15/04/2022 11:14

@Wouldyoubabys don't worry about that! Most important thing is to make sure you're happy on the run up to your wedding. I hope you resolve everything soon

OP posts:
Choppies · 16/04/2022 17:53

@Wouldyoubabys either way you feel fabulous about yourself wether the wedding can go ahead or not! Even if you chuck him you need to feel fab! Don’t worry about the legal bit - lots of people don’t do the legal bit on the day for various reasons

thismotherhoodthing · 16/04/2022 19:01

I agree with @Choppies we're not doing the legal bit on the day. In fact I've left that up to my partner to organise so it will probably never happen as he's so hopeless!

Hope everyone is having a good Easter weekend! My scales are slowly creeping up - I'd gone down to 136 and this morning was 138. I haven't indulged massively but had a few little bits of chocolate here and there. Wish I was one of those people who could eat whatever I want! I think it's more difficult when you're a bit short

OP posts:
Chocolatemushrooms · 17/04/2022 21:08

Happy Easter all. Been so busy recently, just been catching up reading through. Happy to say I lost 2lbs last week & 2lbs this week. 1 stone 8lbs to go, 14 weeks till I get married.

thismotherhoodthing · 18/04/2022 07:20

@Chocolatemushrooms well done that's fantastic!!
