Shredding for the wedding

thismotherhoodthing · 15/03/2022 20:28

I'm getting married in July. Had a baby in October and am struggling to shift the lbs. I need to lose a decent amount of weight for my dress to fit! Starting this thread as motivation. Not looking for big long explanations and discussion, more of a daily accountability check in or motivation boost- anyone want to join me? :-)

@Choppies yessss amazing!! So pleased for you!

Congratulations Choppies!!

My weight just wasn't budging, I was getting stressed and tearful and then obsessing and overeating from stress and upset so I started hypnosis at the weekend - just a book and audio you do at home. And...I've no hunger, no craving for crap. Food just isn't on my radar. I knew my portion sizes needed looking at before I started and now they are small sized but seem to fill me up nicely until the next meal. So I'm eating a healthy 2 smaller sized meals a day and it's going great. Sometimes I'll have breakfast at 11, sometimes I'm just not hungry until closer to lunch time, then my usual but smaller dinner at 7.30pm.

Crisps were my downfall, but again, I'm able to walk past a bag and not even be bothered - and that's not like me! It will be interesting to see the progression for the next 5 weeks.

Choppies · 08/06/2022 18:30

@TheOriginalClownfish please share a link to tapes?

anyone mind if I stick around for a little while? I have a holiday in august (just centerparcs with extended family) but would be great to be 60kg for my first post-baby swimming cossie experience!

thismotherhoodthing · 09/06/2022 08:37

@Choppies absolutely! Definitely stick around!

@TheOriginalClownfish yesss please do share this sounds brilliant!

I've weighed in this morning at 135lbs so only another lb lost and it had taken its Merry time to come off! Definitely seeing a plateau in the weight loss. I'd love to feel a bit more motivated but I'm struggling. My next dress fitting is in two weeks and I'm a b it concerned

@thismotherhoodthing you are losing steadily and that’s all you can ask of yourself on a longer term diet! Honestly you’re doing so well! I’m taking a week off the diet to celebrate but back on it tomorrow so will weigh myself tomorrow to inspect the damage!

failinghard · 11/06/2022 20:51

Hello ladies!
I've been on a diet now for almost 6 months lol - it's hard to stay focus isn't it? I think it's healthy to have a couple of days off of it and then come back to it. Especially with exercise, some days you just need to rest body. I've lost almost 21kg in total and have prob put on a lot of muscle weight too. Honestly I feel like a different person, so much more energy and am fitter than I have ever been. For my next pregnancy I am not going to eat chocolate and bread for 9 months!!
I want to lose 5kg before 8 July (my hendo) and then another 4kg between then and 23 July (wedding day)... not sure it's doable but I'll be at my goal weight if I do.
This week I lost 1.1kg x

Choppies · 13/06/2022 19:05

Honestly @failinghard you’ve done so well but please remember to give yourself a break! You’ve been so dedicated and honestly you’ve already achieved so much! I’ve enjoyed my week off my diet and as of today am back on the wagon - just bought some new size 8 shorts for my august holiday as inspiration - need to lose 4kg to hit my overall target weight of 60kg (my ideal BMI)

It's just Paul McKenna Gastric band. www.paulmckenna.com/all-my-digital-products/
But he's got a few weight loss ones. I used his smoking one 16 years ago after failing with every other method to quit them, and it worked a charm, went off them effortlessly and stayed off with no weight gain as well! So I suppose I wasn't going into it a skeptic.

Depending on your device, it might vary how you download it. I have the kindle app so I got it though my amazon and put the book and audio on my phone and I listen to the hypnosis at bed time. I seem to sleep great these days too! I was having a quite a few nights where I was wedding-stressed and it's absolutely helped with that - and feeling rested is giving me more energy during the day whereas before, I would feel wrecked and convince myself I needed crisps or chocolate to keep my energy levels up Hmm

I got it on Kindle. you need to read the book and then download the audio. The link to the audio from the book didn't work for me by clicking but was easy enough to click and follow instructions to find the audio files.

By my calculations I've done about a weeks worth of it, because I'd the hen at the weekend so obviously I was dining out, having a few drinks and not doing the hypnosis in the room with my mum and sister.

But, my portions are much smaller- and I don't feel like I'm depressed at stingy portions, it's more like, dishing it up and going "Ooh goodness, I won't manage all that" and put a quarter back in the pan. And then many times not finishing what I have dished up.

I've no cravings still for anything. Before, the twixs in the vending machine at work would practically sing to me all day long, now I can walk past them without a bother.

I'm not scrounging for nibbles at night any more. And not feeling like I've been good all day and compelled to 'reward' myself. I just don't feel like I'm depriving myself at all. It's there if I want it and I think, yeah, might have some later if I feel like it, but end up never feeling like it! I recorded my weight at the beginning so I'll weigh myself again tonight and we will see if I've lost.

I doubt it's budged given the 2 day hen weekend but even a few kg by the wedding in 4 weeks I'll be happy enough.

failinghard · 15/06/2022 22:15

Anyone else absolutely shitting it about their wedding?

Is anyone using a planner? I really wish I'd got some help x

TheOriginalClownfish · 17/06/2022 12:23

@failinghard
I was but I've calmed down now.
What stuff do you still have to do?

An update on the hypnosis - I've lost 2.1kg / 4.6lbs in two weeks.
That's not bad considering that in that time, I had a 2 night hen weekend with food and booze galore and a wedding meal yesterday before I weighed myself. Possibly my portions and intake was still smaller and I didn't realise.

I'm happy with that progress. Another 2-3 kg over the next four weeks I'll be delighted!

TheOriginalClownfish · 24/06/2022 13:58

3 weeks out from the wedding. Yikes!

thismotherhoodthing · 24/06/2022 15:59

@failinghard I feel the same. And life seems to have suddenly got so busy so I'm slightly worried about when I'm gonna have time to do anything. I feel exhausted tbh! And LO seems to have stopped sleeping too which is great!

@TheOriginalClownfish hypnosis sounds good! Will look it up!

I had my second dress fitting and dress was a lot more snug and I didn't feel great in it so getting a bit stressed. But just really struggling to find time to exercise.

OP posts:
TheOriginalClownfish · 24/06/2022 16:47

I'm three weeks in (I think) on the hypnosis.
There were crisps in the house the last two days, and two slices of cake in the fridge all week, they didn't even bother me. That would never have happened three weeks ago!
My portions are smaller. My lunch was a salad about 40% smaller than my normal size, normally around 5 I'd be ravenous after the big salad but I still feel like I'm quite full. And even though it's only a few kg, I actually feel very body positive right now. I'm not obsessing about food any more, or trying to find ways to reward myself for being 'good'.

The dressmaker last Saturday for the last fitting commented that I'd lost some weight purely because the zip glided up without effort - unlike the fitting two weeks before. I'd noticed the difference that the dress eased up my hips better but didn't realise she also noticed.

Choppies · 25/06/2022 20:08

@TheOriginalClownfish you’re doing fab! Deffo looking into the hypnosis!

don’t worry guys - you’ve all come so far and it’s natural to feel so stressed at this point - I certainly did - on the day you have hair and makeup and heels and a few glasses of wine which just really helps!

I’ve been MIA thanks to catching hand foot and mouth from bubba (who recovered much quicker than me with my 20 mouth ulcers!) but I’m back now to cheer you on and to get back on track with my weight loss after a few weeks off the wagon existing on ice cream

failinghard · 30/06/2022 11:19

Hi ladies, how's it all going? Been awol wading through wedding admin, decisions and minute details. Think I am over the worst of it, but gosh it all got very overwhelming.

I've stopped weighing myself and am focusing on inches as I think i am toning up more than anything right now. Still low carbing, had a low carb pizza last night that was surprisingly delicious.

I am very annoyed 😟 my period has come early so it means the wedding will be 3 days before my next one. Which means I'll prob be super bloated. Anyone know any remedies/products to reduce water retention? Or anything you'll be doing in final days to reduce bloat?

My new dress is finished, pick up on Friday x

thismotherhoodthing · 30/06/2022 12:36

@failinghard I am failing. Hard. Haha. LO has completely stopped sleeping on a night and I was up between 12-5 last night so I am just exhausted. I should go to bed early but that's the only time I can do the wedmin stuff. I'm also now getting really stressed about baby on the day/night of the wedding

I haven't done any exercise as haven't had the time recently so I just feel generally gross. DP has been away the past three weekends but he's back this weekend so hopefully I'll get a bit of time to myself at last.

I've been taking apple cider gummies for bloating but tbh they haven't done anything. I've also got the water retention tablets but I don't think they do anything either

OP posts:
TheOriginalClownfish · 30/06/2022 17:09

@failinghard I've a feeling mine is due around then but I'm on the pill so I just run straight onto the next pack and skip the period altogether.

I think your GP can prescribe something to delay your period - not the pill but something else I think, don't know the name but I remember reading on another forum it getting suggested to a bride as she was due the day of her wedding and prone to very heavy long ones so it would have ruined her wedding, wedding night and a good chunk of the honeymoon.

I've not budged since on the scales but I feel slimmer and I'm mostly happy with where I'm at for the moment in terms of the wedding.

Today for the entire day I've had a tesco wrap. I had soup to go with it for lunch but didn't bother to heat it up as I was stuffed with the wrap. I'm getting peckish now but I can hold out for dinner at home.

Like you @failinghard I was in a cloud of wedding admin and getting very stressed over it all. But I kept chipping away and now I've only a handful of things to do so it's very manageable and I'm sleeping much better now too.

failinghard · 30/06/2022 17:44

@thismotherhoodthing oh that doesn't sound good, I really hope your DH being back this weekend gives you some much overdue me time. Sounds like you really need to catch up on sleep as a priority, exercise can wait until that is sorted.

Is there anyone you could hire to do childcare on the day? And the either one of your mums take the baby through the night? I've had the same worries recently, so had to make a plan. Ultimately someone needs to stay sober.

I have got some Agnus castus drops which is supposed to help reduce PMS & bloating, and also two different herbal teas, and have some water tablets for closer to the time. Dandelion is supposed to help. Also Epsom salt baths and visiting a steam room.

@TheOriginalClownfish yes I was calling the period, the eye of the storm. It was horrendous the realisation of how many unresolved details there were. But I think I am through the worst of it now.

Choppies · 30/06/2022 20:47

Epsom salt bath worked wonderful for a bad bloat for me - the day before the wedding I was 2 inches bigger round the waist (thanks endo!) and the bath really helped!

failinghard · 30/06/2022 21:51

adds 5 kilos of Epsom salt to basket

thismotherhoodthing · 03/07/2022 22:16

@failinghard I went for a Botox top up today in between my eyebrows and he suggested doing my crows feet. I hadn't considered it but I got it done and now five hours later it feels like my eyelid is sagging over my eye when I frown. I'm massively freaking out!!! Did you get this at all? I'm hoping it's just swelling but it feels like more of a sag than a swelling if that makes sense. I can't relax at all I'm so anxious, wish I'd never had it done!

OP posts:
failinghard · 05/07/2022 15:07

@thismotherhoodthing how's it looking? I think it does change a bit for first two weeks and by end of second week you get that lift.

Finally back in size 12!! Had to send some stuff back this week as too big. That felt good.

Got my hendo this weekend, pretty excited!

thismotherhoodthing · 05/07/2022 17:48

@failinghard not looking great. I'm having major panic attacks about it to be honest. I went to a reputable place with certified surgeons doing it but I am so worried. The nurse today said she was confident it would settle so we will see

That's amazing!! Well done! Enjoy your hen! X

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 16/07/2022 09:00

@failinghard how was the hen? My face finally looks normal again and actually looks quite good - what a stress though! One week today for us - feel like I'm in a good place with the planning etc, just still unsure how LO will be on the day. Had my final dress fitting and dress fits ok, still very snug but should be ok I think! I'm currently at 127lbs so have lost 21lbs in total since Feb
