LOSE IT! January 2022

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Me please! Need to lose a significant amount of weight, but going to focus on walking each day and counting calories, with a focus on high protein foods Smile

We are going to a gig in June so I am working towards being able to dance all night

clpsmum · 28/12/2021 18:14

Can I join please. I am the heaviest I have ever been and have roughly seven stone to lose 😫😫 I can't quite believe I have got so big.

I intend to calorie count and try and be light on the carbs and exercise every day. Feeling very motivated so hoping I stick to it

swampytiggaa · 28/12/2021 18:18

Checking in for January 😊

Squirrelblanket · 28/12/2021 18:31

Me please! I want to get fit and healthy this year and do it properly rather than making a half arsed attempt for three weeks of January.

I'll be starting after New Year. Calorie counting with a Mediterranean diet type way of eating. And getting back into exercise.

Livedandlearned · 28/12/2021 18:37

I also want to join!

I do intermittent fasting 16:8, have done for a year after following last years thread.

Christmas and winter has seen me having alcohol and chocolate so I'm not feeling my best.

Smarshian · 28/12/2021 18:43

Can I join for January please? Dd birthday on Thursday and then New Year’s Eve/ Day. Will get on it in the first few days though.
General plan to get back into running and eat lower carb, less chocolate and crisps and dry Jan until 27th (my birthday)

obusrath · 28/12/2021 18:47

Please can I join? Im really small framed and I've put on 2 dress sizes and I I look so stumpy...I am going to blast into January with a slim fast diet for ten days then try low carb or the fast thingy - I've never really dieted before but I can't afford new clothes so it's shrink or go naked.

melissasummerfield · 28/12/2021 18:50

@clpsmum we are in the same boat and have the same plan Smile good luck!

clpsmum · 28/12/2021 19:23

@melissasummerfield good luck to you too. Happy to send details over if you're on my fitness pal or Fitbit xx

melissasummerfield · 28/12/2021 19:26

@clpsmum typically i use nutracheck and have an apple watch Grin

Walkingbkwrm · 28/12/2021 19:29

Can I join ready for Jan? Fell off the wagon early being too strict this year so 2022 I’m thinking just intermittent fasting and avoiding snacks and then assess/adjust after a couple of weeks.

Rockthefatskillz · 28/12/2021 19:35

Me please. I need to drop a couple of stone, complicated by being in the early stages of pregnancy and also feeling rough as hell with suspected covid. I won't start until I feel more human, hopefully will be good to go for 1 Jan.

I won't be calorie counting or going hungry but aiming to just eat healthily and get some gentle exercise in. And get more sleep.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 28/12/2021 19:40

Oh god me please! I've eaten soooo much crap I feel ill but can't seem to stop!! I'll get on the scales on the first though I have a suspicion I have at least a stone to get rid of! I also haven't been able to run for a few weeks 🐌

tiredanddangerous · 28/12/2021 19:41

Me please! I need to lose about 5 stone in total Blush

I need to do it via low fat due to gallstones. Im quitting alcohol and hiding any left over Christmas treats on 2nd Jan. I've tried and failed so many times over the years and I really need some support!

Iameverybean · 28/12/2021 19:41

Yes please. I was doing really well getting down to a ‘normal’ bmi not so long ago following reduced calories and regular exercise. Life’s ups and downs have made taking care of myself take a back seat and now I’ve had enough I need to get back on the horse! I haven’t weighed lately (and can’t as I don’t have scales now) but I’m sure I’ve gained some, probably for the best that I can’t so I don’t feel too down about it…

Anyway here’s to a fresh start Smile

Hugglethatmuggle · 28/12/2021 19:42

Count me in.
I want to do a lifestyle change and not just a "diet" that I stick to for a few months.

Mamajunebugjones · 28/12/2021 19:57

Would love to join
Perhaps doing it with others would give me some more impetus and self control. Also- one of my knees feels a bit achy and I’m sure the extra weight does not help.

MrsMigginsEggNogShoppe · 28/12/2021 20:16

I'm in. I need to lose at least 3 stone. Im 50 in May and don't want to be fat and 50! We're also hoping to be go on a once in a lifetime trip to Aus in October so would love not to look like a blimp in the holiday snaps.

I'm going to kick start with meal replacement shakes for breakfast and lunch and a healthy evening meal for two weeks, then calorie count, sticking to 1400 a day and upping the step count.

Crazzzycat · 28/12/2021 20:23

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife. It looks like it’s going to be a busy one 😮

I’m planning to continue with my healthy habits of 2021. So lots of exercise and healthy meals and generally keeping an eye on the calories. I’m also planning to walk/cycle/row 2022 km in 2022. That should keep me away from the snacks!

I’d love to get down to 72kg by the middle of 2022. I don’t need to lose a huge amount for that, but I have a feeling it’s going to get harder and harder the closer I get, so I’m starting with what shouldn’t be an overly ambitious goal. We’ll see…

I’ll check in with my starting weight on the 1st of January. Good luck everyone!

TheRealHousewife · 28/12/2021 20:29

Welcome newcomers 😊

@melissasummerfield that’s a realistic time frame to make progress and see significant change 👍

@clpsmum all journeys start with the first step and you’ve done that now. Well done! Just keep going one day at a time. You’ll see progress in no time!

Nice to see you again @swampytiggaa 😊 lovely to have you here.

@Squirrelblanket sounds like a plan! That’s always a positive first step.

@Livedandlearned after the year we’ve had it’s not surprising chocolate and booze have made an entrance. I’ll admit I’ve had a bit too much chocolate and a few too many Baileys coffees 😬

@Smarshian great mini target up to your birthday at the end of the month. You’ll still see results in 4 weeks.

@obusrath your post brought a giggle 🤭‘shrink or go naked’ v funny. Seriously though I know what you mean. I’m vertically challenged so any weight gain shows up straight away.

@Walkingbkwrm sounds very sensible 👍Slow and steady can suit some people more that fast & rapid.

@Rockthefatskillz congratulations 🥳. Totally agree with your plan of healthy eating and gentle exercise.

@Fooshufflewickjbannanapants upping protein & curbing sugar can help with reducing cravings 👍

@tiredanddangerous jump aboard. These threads usually have very supportive posters, even if it’s a bit of hand holding. Keep reading & posting, especially on any bad days you might have. You’re not alone 😊

@Iameverybean you can still measure progress without scales. Waistbands & tops not as snug etc, feeling more svelte, more energetic, sleeping better etc. You can do this.

@Hugglethatmuggle these threads advocate for healthy eating rather than a diet of deprivation. Finding an healthy eating regime that’s sustainable is the key to long term success.

@Mamajunebugjones most certainly any weight loss will help your knee plus other joints. Good luck 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Chicken soup & small slice gluten free bread
Meal 2 - King Prawn stir fry with red peppers, carrots, shredded cabbage, chilli, spring onions, garlic, ginger.

Checking in for January Smilethanks for the new thread. I have over eaten over Christmas as I knew I would. Will start again with healthy eating on the first but wont be weighing until the end of January to give myself a chance to get back to my Christmas Eve weight Smilewelcome to all the newcomers Brew

TheRealHousewife · 28/12/2021 20:36

A warm welcome @Crazzzycat and I think you’re right 😬 I love your target of 2022km in 2022. Being disabled like I am I could aim for 2022meters 😅. You are right in that the nearer we get to goal the progress slows. I’ll try and find the article I read recently about that and post a link.

@MrsMigginsEggNogShoppe 2 significant events to plan for and look forward too. You can make real lasting change by May and then build on that to solidify it by September. You’ll look awesome by the time your birthday comes around 🥳

Cornishbelle · 28/12/2021 20:37

Can I please join? Far too much chocolate and alcohol over Xmas and still too much in, am planning to ease into it and calorie counting with more water and more walking. 4 stone to lose Xmas Hmm

TheRealHousewife · 28/12/2021 20:41

A warm welcome @joysmoy66! Me too! I was eating my feelings, I knew I was but that didn’t stop me. Have not eaten like I have previous years though so not too bad. Nonetheless reined it right in now.

TheRealHousewife · 28/12/2021 20:43

Hello & welcome @Cornishbelle your plan is similar to mine. The water part being the hardest. I just can’t get it down! Used to love it, not so much now. I do best when I have sparkling in to guzzle. Good luck!
