HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

For those interested in nutrition and exercise/sport performance there is an interesting watch on Netflix- The Game Changers. Don’t let the first 10 minutes put you off. The programme is interesting and thought provoking in equal measure. There is a The Game Changes website that has some tasty recipes on too. Not necessarily low calorie 😈

Thank you for the comments about my photo.

You’re very welcome @8stone13 👍 pleased to read you made the most of your kiddy free night … even if it did involve chocolate 😈

@Youdoyoutoday great swim performance 👍👏🏅

@Crazzzycat well done on growing muscles 💪 Muscle definition is cool 👍

@ImALittlePea well done on swerving the chocolate & wine 👍👏. Not always easy!

Well done on starting C25 @campingqueen121 !! Doing something for the 1st time is the hardest. Keep it up and you'll be jogging about in the spring when the daffs & tulips are all out with a big smile on your face!

Great swim stats @Youdoyoutoday - and v impressed that your DH actually noticed your biceps @Crazzzycat - either you have an observant DH, or incredibly defined biceps - hopefully both !! Your back is probably looking good, toned and strong too but you don't know it.

Any exercises for targeting fat loss in legs? Mine have always been big - and I had the same issue with boots as someone mentioned yesterday Crazzy I think. They are just large all the way up and down. Parsnips. I never wear shorts or dresses / skirts other than maxi, occasionally midi if I have to.

Your evening last night sounded bliss @8stone13 And well done on resisting the chocolate @ginsparkles (I think it was you - I daren't change page or I'll loose my post).

I'm doing OK today. Yoghurt blueberries and seeds for breakfast, salmon & lentil salad, and I'll have chicken kiev with loads of veg & small sweet potato for dinner. Did 5km run in record time (for me!). Doubt I'll see a drop on scales tomorrow, but who knows.

Thanks for new thread @TheRealHousewife I'll head over there soon. Welcome to all the lovely new people too!

buzzofthebumblebee · 18/01/2022 16:53

sorry @ImALittlePea it was you who demonstrated will power of saint. Star You are always in my mind @ginsparkles as gin is my tipple and as much as I love chocolate and crisps, I love gin more ; ) The denial with dry january is getting harder, but I'm sure my body is loving me for it

SunshineCake1 · 18/01/2022 16:56

Hi @8stone13 I do have a bike but it's hard when I use it and it says I've used 1000 calories I get told I haven't. It's an easy work out in that it is in the house and I can do what I want. Various programmes of different difficulty. I can tell if the time I want to do or just go and do the distance I want. I'm not sure what you want to know so let me know if you have specific questions. Tbh I never really felt like I lost any weight when I used it whereas I could weigh before and after a run and always did. I do know it might not have been literal weight loss but at least the scales gave me hope!

ginsparkles · 18/01/2022 18:34

@buzzofthebumblebee it's my tipple too!!! January is nearly over! Your braver than me, I would never attempt dry January. Dark nights, dieting, reduced chocolate - it's all enough without removing a glass of gin!

fallfallfall · 18/01/2022 19:30

Four months?? Maybe less but finally a clean bill of health. Huge weight lifted off my shoulder time to focus on healthy eating and exercise.
The comfort foods were tasty but I’m scared to step on the scale.

DontWantTheRivalry · 18/01/2022 20:35

Feeling so deflated.

For the last two weeks I’ve probably cut down my calorie intake by about 50% and haven’t had any chocolate or biscuits etc (which are always my comfort foods) I’ve still only lost 1 pound.

One pound in 2 weeks.

That’s pretty crap isn’t it Sad

fallfallfall · 18/01/2022 20:54

@DontWantTheRivalry, no it's not crap. It's down and that's important to remember.
continue watching the calories and add in a bit of cardio, i've not read the full thread if cardio isn't possible up your water.
stay focused, it's a long slow game.

8stone13 · 18/01/2022 21:31

@SunshineCake1 Thanks. I was hoping it might help me burn up some calories, tone up a little & give me a bit of a cardio workout. I haven't got room for a Pilates machine or a cross-trainer or treadmill I don't think - it's going in my office - & I know you can get bikes that fold up really tightly. Hmn, might have to put more thought into it 🤔

campingqueen121 · 18/01/2022 21:33

That must be a big relief @fallfallfall.

@DontWantTheRivalry I know it's disheartening but keep at it, you're going down which is the right way. Slow and steady wins the race!

My little one wanted to bake cookies this afternoon so today was never going to go well.

Breakfast : Salmon, eggs, asparagus and sesame seed ryvita
Lunch : chicken salad
Dinner : jacket potato with tuna, Sweetcorn and cheese plus side salad.

Snacks Satsuma, large choc chip cookies x 1.5

T25 workout completed

8stone13 · 18/01/2022 21:33

@DontWantTheRivalry I think sometimes it takes the body quite a while to really recognise what's going on & shift the metabolism into weight loss. I don't think there's any scientific basis to what I'm saying, but that's been my experience. My body has to get in the zone somehow. A 1lb loss is still a loss - well done on that. Don't lose heart - stick to what you're doing & it will come off 👍🏻

fallfallfall · 18/01/2022 21:41

@campingqueen121, yup one that you don't fully realize until you hear otherwise. the day seems brighter, the house seems bigger, breathing seems easier and i had energy to wash the floor.
we went out for celebratory brunch, supper will be a baked marinated chicken breast and cesear salad (homemade dressing)
if wishes would come true i will find the desire to do a short walking workout to get started!

buzzofthebumblebee · 18/01/2022 22:45

It's to prove I can manage without the gin @ginsparkles. I still have slimline tonic every eve though!! Also wanted to say to you hang in there, you have had a tough time loosing your DF, and now having to deal with house sale & paperwork. I feel for you. Don't expect too much of yourself. You only have finite energy. You mentioned up post about giving-up your weekend off ... yes, assign some time, but not all. You need to recharge yourself otherwise you'll end up dropping all the spinning plates Flowers

Delighted with your good news @fallfallfall - hope you can keep looking forward now, and every day is bright for you.

See you all on the other thread!

fallfallfall · 18/01/2022 22:57

@buzzofthebumblebee what other thread?

ginsparkles · 18/01/2022 23:06

@buzzofthebumblebee thank you. Sadly giving myself time isn't possible in the short term, I work for a small family business, so am having to give up some days off in the short term to help out. I'll get them back it's just one thing after another this week. It'll all be fine, I know.

Decided to go down to Dads so his partner can help me sort through some paperwork. It'll be strange staying there without him. I suspect that weekend might involve cake and gin.

SunshineCake1 · 19/01/2022 06:23
@buzzofthebumblebee what other thread?
Nice to see you back @fallfallfall and wonderful news you've been given the all clear.

There is a second January thread.

Had a bit of an up and down type of week this week! Did well until Saturday then I was away for the day so all hell broke loose! However I did reign it in on Sunday so that is a good step for me as usually I'd say start again Monday.
I have noticed I have started picking a bit so trying to refocus today. I've noticed it's days I'm not drinking water. I just find it so hard to do! So that's this week's goal concentrate on water and stop picking!

Food plan today
Breakfast fruit and fibre
Lunch soup and crackerbread
Dinner chicken and ham vol au vents but maybe without the pastry I have to add up the calories yet! Grin
Snacks satsuma and skinny whip bar

I lost 1lb by the skin of my teeth but it just goes to show how much I was eating up to Christmas for my body to still lose after Saturdays binge. I'm still losing the half stone from Christmas so think this is the "easy" bit.

Current weight 11 stone 1lb
Total loss 5lbs
Aim 2lbs to get my half stone! Really gotta focus on it this week.
Good luck everyone and well done I love reading updates.

8stone13 · 19/01/2022 09:02

@fallfallfall I can see from others' posts that you must have had some good & relieving news, I've scrolled right back to the middle of last week & can see people replying to you but can't see your original post - no idea what's gone on but it looks positive, long may that continue 🙂

I'll head to the new thread for my morning weigh-in...

buzzofthebumblebee · 19/01/2022 09:12

Keep strong @ShoppingBasket - congrats on your loss so far. You CAN do it and you will and you will feel so much better for it!

The 2nd thread @fallfallfall as this is very nearly full - but @SunshineCake1 very kindly let you know.
