HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I’ve signed up for a virtual 10k with friends in February 😊 I’m still doing the virtual South West Coast Path and I’ve signed up to a 500 mile jubilee challenge. Hoping to push myself to finish the jubilee one by June 😊

joysmoy66 · 28/12/2021 20:46

claracluck1978 · 28/12/2021 20:46

Can I join?
I have a load to lose - at least 5 stone.
DP proposed over Christmas so I have the incentive to do it & now I need the willpower!

cupcakedaisy · 28/12/2021 21:03

Hi, I'd like to join too. I've lost nearly 4 stone (9 months) so far and want to lose another 1 -1.5 (hopefully). I did couch to 5k, joined a gym and calorie count. Discovered a love of porridge and have it twice a day!

My aim is to be able to look good in a bikini, even though I will probably never wear it outside the house. I just want to know that I could Smile

onwardsandupwards22 · 28/12/2021 21:05

@Livedandlearned

I also want to join!

I do intermittent fasting 16:8, have done for a year after following last years thread.

Christmas and winter has seen me having alcohol and chocolate so I'm not feeling my best.

Hi! Has 16:8 alone (if that's what you've done) had any results for you?
melissasummerfield · 28/12/2021 21:11

@claracluck1978 congratulations!

onwardsandupwards22 · 28/12/2021 21:15

Hi all! I have at least 1.5 stone to lose, as a shorty I look v frumpy.

I did well with 5:2 previously but just can't seem to get into the swing of it again. I'm also anaemic and suffer with fibromyalgia / chronic fatigue . Reading the thread so far is helping me to give myself permission to maybe just eat healthy first / get some
energy back before embarking / considering 5:2 again.

WorkCleanRepeat · 28/12/2021 21:16

Can I join for January please? I have about 5 stone I'd like to lose and could do with making myself accountable.

Increase walking decrease calories is losely the plan.

MarchSurprise · 28/12/2021 21:29

I'd like to join please!

I have two dress sizes to lose. What's really got me is sorting my wardrobe out and seeing I don't even fit into my maternity jeans worn at the end of my pregnancy - he is 3 in March!

I am hoping to eat healthier, exercise more, and cut out alcohol plus takeaways. I have been drinking/eating more than I'd acceptable for over a year so I am hopeful these changes will make a difference (pleaseeee!)

HeyMoana · 28/12/2021 21:44

I’d like to please join in. I need to loose about three stone. I’m so impulsive and find decisions about foods so difficult.
I’m going to fast each day and calorie count for my two meals.

Iameverybean · 28/12/2021 21:49

@TheRealHousewife thanks for the welcome 🤗 yep I’m going to take waist and hip measurements at the start and then maybe monthly do a ratio to get a rough idea, I’m actually quite looking forward to noticing the difference in how I feel over using the scales.

This thread feels so supportive, lots of folk here already. 😌 Im really looking forward to this, just waiting for my AF to arrive and the madness of PMT appetite to cease then I’ll be right on it.

2022success · 28/12/2021 21:56

I'm in sistaz!! Like many others, this isn't just about weight loss for me - it's also about my overall health which is fairly shite.

I am about 2 - 3 stone overweight. I drink far too much alcohol. I don't do enough exercise. My stress levels are crazy due to excessive workload, leading to cardio issues.

So for me, this is a weight led campaign, but I have other demons to address.

Intending to do 16:8 and be teetotal. I have new scales on order as old ones broke. I am not sure if they will be here by tomorrow but if not I will do my best to submit a starting weight.

Good luck everyone - we can do it!!

Nottheshrinkingcapgrandpa · 28/12/2021 21:59

I'd like to loose a stone over the next year- need to loose a lot more than that but have hypothyroidism so even loosing 1lb a month is good for me and I'd like to be realistic!

galacticpixels · 28/12/2021 22:12

Joining! I have a lot of lockdown weight to lose. I'll be calorie counting. I lost 18lb in 2021 but have a lot more to go so need to be more consistent. I won't be following a specific diet but cutting out all the crap and cooking healthy food at home.

For exercise I'll be doing daily morning walks, Spin bike at home, and other home workout classes. I want to lose 8lb in January.

TheRealHousewife · 28/12/2021 22:17

@swampytiggaa you are officially the threads very own Duracell Bunny 🐰 😬You do so well and very inspiring!

@joysmoy66 I totally get it. Cheese is so delicious too. Very sensible to give yourself January to reset. Last thing you need (or any of us for that matter) is to put ourselves under pressure or deprivation.

@claracluck1978 congratulations 🎉 and welcome.

@cupcakedaisy that’s fantastic progress! Well done 👍👏⭐️ I love porridge but only made from the big fat oats. I never add sugar but might top with a drizzle of cream. If I looked good in a bikini there’d be no stopping me and I’d wear it to the corner shop 😬 👙

@onwardsandupwards22 in the past I followd the Fast800 eating plan to the letter. I lost the most in the 12 weeks I did it than any other period of 12 weeks iyswim. It was difficult to carry on as my oh got bored with it and most days I’m too fatigued to do 2 different meals. I still base my meals on the Mediterranean diet/Fast800 but with adaptations. I think I could do with another boost of it to get things moving again 🧐 Sorry to hear about your health conditions and fatigue. Those kind of things really can make losing weight more difficult but not impossible.

@WorkCleanRepeat love your username! Very apt. Jump right in.

@MarchSurprise if you want change and apply yourself you’ll see results. I know that’s easy to say/write but harder to get into the routine. You can do it!

@HeyMoana welcome 😊. Planning is your friend. Plan your meals (I enter into MFP), write a shopping list and stick to it. No extras. I find it far easier to stick to any healthy eating regime if I’ve planned what I’m having and it also stops me obsessing about food. I also make a habit after my last meal of the day to clean & ‘close’ the kitchen. Helps prevent nighttime snacking (which are less likely to happen if macros are balanced in main meals - protein/fat/carbs no added sugar). Good luck 🤞

@Iameverybean AF & hormonal fluctuations can really sabotage our efforts. During those times our bodies might need a bit extra but try to favour fat/protein over sugar/carbs. That will help with keeping blood sugars balanced.

Can I join please? I have about 3 stone to lose and totally lack willpower so hopefully joining you all will help. I’m going to try using MFP and a virtual gastric band hypnosis app I’ve downloaded. I’m desperate and really unhappy with my weight. I want to feel good about myself again.

TheRealHousewife · 28/12/2021 22:28

A warm welcome @2022success sorry to read your work stress is causing cardio issues. That doesn’t sound good and your employer does have a duty of care. So as not to over burden yourself perhaps just change one thing for the first week. If you try to overall too much too soon you might give up. We don’t want that. We want you to become the best you 😊

@Nottheshrinkingcapgrandpa for those of us with thyroid disease it’s really difficult to lose even when consistently cutting cals but not impossible. You’ve set a Sensible target which accommodates your health issues.

@galacticpixels your plan sounds doable and realistic. Like I wrote in my opening post, we all know what works for us. It’s just a case of being consistent. Good luck.

My main issue is takeaways. I think I'm addicred. I can choose to not eat most of the day because I just can't face anything 'healthy' but then once I've got through the day (which can feel like a marathon) and the kids are finally in bed I feel I deserve a "treat" and I will order a takeaway Blush yesterday I deleted all the takeaway apps etc but I stil phoned in for one this evening BlushBlushBlush

TheRealHousewife · 28/12/2021 22:30

A warm welcome @Princessbubbles your hypnosis app sounds interesting. It would be great if you shared how it goes/what you think etc. I use MFP too. I find it a great app.

onwardsandupwards22 · 28/12/2021 22:34

For anyone who does 16:8 / any form of intermittent fasting , please share what time of day you do it? I've been reading about the importance of WHEN you eat - eating the bulk of calories in the first half of the day is better for weight loss

Princessbubbles · 28/12/2021 22:35

Yes I’ll definitely share how the hypnosis app goes. I’m going to listen to it before bed. I’m a bit sceptical but I’m willing to try it.

TheRealHousewife · 28/12/2021 22:38

@onwardsandupwards22 I fully understand why eat takeaways and deserving a treat. Being a mum is very hard work! Also if you’re not eating all day your blood sugars will be fluctuating and eventually crash, hence feeling so hungry you could eat a scabby dog when you’ve no energy left to prep food, hence going for the takeaway fix. As written up thread, planning/prepping is your friend. Try to have health foods/snacks available to put you on whilst you prep a proper meal. Nuts, bananas, glass of full fat milk etc. These aren’t low calorie in themselves but eaten in the right portion size they are satiating and healthy. Tonight we had prawn stir fry. 15 minutes from prepping to table. Quick, delicious and healthy.

I'd like to join please. I'm at my biggest ever and kist really dislike myself at the moment. My problem is evening junk food eating although I do generally crave sugary food.
Plan is cut right down on sugar and crisps. Swim and walk each week.

chickaletta2022 · 28/12/2021 22:43

Can I join too please? Heaviest I've ever been after 2 pregnancies and I really just want to fit back in to my old nice clothes again.
