HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 🍾 🎊 🎉 🍾

Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fasting and eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Can I join please? Feel I need a bit of inspiration, motivation and dedication lol.

I have 6.5 stone to lose. I have no gallbladder so low fat for me as well as upping my exercise. I’ve recently changed jobs which means my step count has been cut in half so I need to up my game as well as other forms of physical activity :(

I’ve done the classic bought new fitness clothes in the sale and some of you may have seen my scales thread on here. Now I need to put my money where my mouth is and do it!!

Good luck everyone xx

NoodleSlurper · 29/12/2021 13:02

Thanks for the warm welcome and enthusiasm, @TheRealHousewife.

We are visiting family for a few days so it’s just damage limitation for me until the 1st. Planning the day’s meals seems like a great idea once I’m back.

Midnightstar76 · 29/12/2021 13:49

Hi I am in. I want to try and reduce my belly area mainly. I want to try and loose 3 stone. I was thinking of two meals as well and fasting and trying to put some exercise into the mix. Who knows but will give it a go. Dare not weigh myself at the moment and to be honest I know I will be raiding the nice food whilst off work this Christmas week but then I am on it, fingers crossed! No plans to tell anyone either just going to get on with trying.

Teafirst · 29/12/2021 13:53

May I join? Ive 5 stone to lose. Long covid stopped me running which kept the last 2 of those off. I'm back to work properly in Jan so my aim is intermittent fasting - I work 9-1 and lower carb. E

Exercise wise I'll start with getting back to 10,000 steps a day and try and do 30 days of yoga with Adrienne.

2022success · 29/12/2021 14:07

I just threw out the remnants of Christmas food - cheesecake, sausage rolls, pork pies etc. I am not using my body as a rubbish bin!

Weighed myself - 179 pounds at 5ft 5 makes me technically obese Sad so I need to get down to 150 pounds to be top end of healthy.

I do have a party to go to tomorrow which I really can't get out of, but I am not using that as an excuse not to abandon 16:8 today and I didn't eat until 1pm. I am feeling really tired so will probably eat by 7 and be in bed by 9.

If I have to concentrate on just one thing at a time, it will be not drinking that gets priority as it's that leading to a lot of the other problems. Good luck everyone.

GreenJulie · 29/12/2021 15:00

Weighed myself this morning 105kgs.
Husband had his friends over last night and they cleared out the fridge of pork pies and pies etc so win win
Did a boxing class this morning. My problem with food is I don’t plan.
Written out a weekly food plan and going to Tesco after I’ve had some lunch so I’m not hungry.

buzzofthebumblebee · 29/12/2021 15:32

Hello everyone - new and old (to the thread!). I'll be joining you come 1st January.

I've managed to loose 25lbs since I joined @TheRealHousewife 's positive & inspiring threads in September. Only about 8-10 more lbs to lose until I'm where I want to be. My biggest challenge - if I get there - will then be to maintain a healthy weight.

Good luck everyone!

LookslovelyinSpringtime · 29/12/2021 15:34

Me please! I need to lose 4 stones . Saw a recent photo and nearly died of shame. Eaten far too much crap over the holidays.

Going to count calories, weigh portions and swim three times a week .
I really need to do this by September.

SunshineCake1 · 29/12/2021 15:51

Bloody hell, there's loads of newbies!!

I can't cope at the moment so will just place mark and come back in a bit to read properly.

Infracat · 29/12/2021 16:03

Me please. I need to lose at least a stone. Have been trying for months but not been able to do it. This time I'm determined. 🙂

Rshard · 29/12/2021 16:12

I’d love to join please. The thread seems so supportive.

I’ve done well with low carbing in the past, doing the boot camps on here but have struggled with motivation to be honest.

Also a lapsed runner so would like to pick that up again. I work from home so can fit it in, although I tell myself I can’t - any excuse.

Spotted wow upthread so I’ll start tomorrow morning.

Good luck!

CommanderBurnham · 29/12/2021 16:15

Hi everyone. I've spoken to a friend who has given me a kick up the backside.

So I've ordered some whey for my juices, and for adding to food to make me feel fuller.

Also set Saturday afternoon (my last day of isolation) for batch cooking for the week.

Next week's menu so far is chicken curry with brown rice, chicken ramen, heck sausage bake, roast meat, Wagamama salad, pre packed salads and fresh juices in the blender.

TheRealHousewife · 29/12/2021 17:15

Afternoon All

@Nomoreusernames1244 that’s a fantastic result so far! Well done 👍 Sorry for my ignorance but what is the ‘mean plan’? Is that the name of it or have you nicknamed it that?

@Livinthedream84 welcome, joining this thread and planning to do exercise are both steps in the right direction!

You’re very welcome @NoodleSlurper 😊

@Midnightstar76 a warm welcome. Why not turn your thinking on its head … tell someone, perhaps get a life change buddy (helps in making you more accountable) and weigh in (that number keep to yourself if that makes it more comfortable) so you know how far you’ve gone when you get ‘there’ if that makes sense. Commitment, developing healthy routine habits, planning healthy menus and consistency will get you there.

@Teafirst a warm welcome. Sorry to read you’ve been I’ll with covid. Be gentle on yourself. Actually I think I’ll look Adrienne again, I used to follow her online yoga before. Love your username … I have to have my ‘tea first’ when I wake up 😬

@2022success you’re on it now which is brilliant. Try to break down your goal into mini goals so the end doesn’t seem such a huge task. Well done on chucking the snack stuff out! Remove the temptation. Good point about alcohol and it potentially leading to other problems. You’ve got this!

@GreenJulie planning really is important. Well done on writing your menu/shopping list and eating prior to super market 👍👏 That really will help with not buying on impulse. Well done getting a boxing class in 🥊

@buzzofthebumblebee welcome to the new thread, lovely to see you. You have done marvellously well so far and I’m positive you’ll get to your goal and maintain. Just keep doing what your doing 👍👏⭐️🏅TY for your kind words 😊

@LookslovelyinSpringtime welcome. I totally get the photo mortification. I had similar before my weight loss. OH was thinking of purchasing one of those MG Midget sports cars. Only small they are. He took a photo of me sitting in it. I was gobsmacked when I saw it. The scale of the small car made me look HUGE. Swimming is excellent and one of my favourite ways to exercise (although not going at the moment).

@SunshineCake1 Hope to see you soon. I’ll be thinking of you Friday❤️

@Infracat Do you have a plan/method? If you want that stone gone you’ll want to get into the right headspace and be consistent. To look at it another way, it’s far better/easier to see your stone gone than wait until it’s got ‘friends’ like I did. Imagine how you’d feel & look at your desired weight. How much more healthier & energised too. If you get on it now, this time next week 1 or 2lbs will be gone and you’ll be on your way.

Hi and welcome @rshard there are a few runners who post on these threads so your in good company. I eat lower carb, high protein and moderate fat. My way of eating has become second nature and it isn’t a struggle. TBH as I’m getting older my tastes are still evolving and I’m finding I’m favouring vegetarian meals. So vibrant. Good luck 🤞

@CommanderBurnham your menu looks tasty. I don’t know too much about whey. Personally I add lentils/beans etc to soups, chillis, salads etc to add extra protein and fibre. The tinned ones are really convenient, I just give them a rinse through a sieve before use.

Enjoy your evening.

Really nice to see you again @fallfallfall.

I'm not here properly yet as struggling to read so many posts.

fallfallfall · 29/12/2021 17:22

@SunshineCake1, i understand the thread (especially january) moves so quick!!
thank you @TheRealHousewife for keeping this up!!

2022success · 29/12/2021 17:23

I decided to hoover up some of the leftover veg so am having that tonight and will put second portion in fridge so I have something healthy to eat when I get back from tomorrows afternoon party.

I do eat meat but am another one who seems to need/fancy it less as I get older - am now mid fifties.

Nomoreusernames1244 · 29/12/2021 17:30

Well done 👍 Sorry for my ignorance but what is the ‘mean plan’? Is that the name of it or have you nicknamed it that?

One of those weight loss plans where you get a months food sent to you at a time. So no need to think about anything, and I found as I’d paid for it I was going to stick to it! I used Diet Chef as there was an offer on, but there are others.

It didn’t actually work out that expensive if you factor in what I normally spend on food each month.

FireworkParrot · 29/12/2021 18:16

Hello all, please can I join you? I've really let things slide in 2021 and have put on a lot of weight, realistically I need to lose 3 stones as a minimum and I'm determined to do it in 2022 as I'm just so sick of feeling frumpy and lethargic.

I don't have a set plan for how I'm going to lose the weight. I've had success short term with slim fast in the past and in the medium term with both 5:2 and slimming world but have ended up gaining all the weight I lost so I need some more discipline. I know at the end of the day it's going to be about reducing my calories by whichever method I choose.

I also need to up my exercise. I did a yoga video yesterday and have just come back in from a walk so I'm going to try and get gentle movement in every day (I need low impact due to a health condition) so a lot of yoga is ok, swimming, walking etc. I used to go to the gym and use the cross trainers and exercise bikes a lot so I'm considering re joining too.

PaulineFowlersCardigan · 29/12/2021 18:20

@therealhousewife Thankyou for the warm welcome 😊 I’ve been reading for weeks now and it seems like a really supportive thread! Lookong forward to a ‘fresh start’ on Saturday.

TheRealHousewife · 29/12/2021 18:21

You’re most welcome @fallfallfall Here’s to a fabulous 2022!

@2022success I’m late 50s so similar ages/era.

@Nomoreusernames1244 I totally get your rationale around using the pre sorted Plans/menu option. Everything worked out, portion controlled and no waste! If it works, do it!

OP posts:
TheRealHousewife · 29/12/2021 18:26

You’re very welcome @PaulineFowlersCardigan 👍 This time next week/month we’ll all see results. 🤞 it’s losses rather than the alternative 😬

Purplepeopleeaterz · 29/12/2021 18:26

Me please, would love to join coming up to 50 & really want to lose a stone at least. Food choices are still kid in a sweet shop at Christmas Xmas Wink but I have been using my Switch for boxing & Ringfit alongside dumbbell sessions for the last few days. I’m such a fussy eater (mostly texture issues) it’s hard to get a decent variety of meals planned Xmas Blush

SunshineCake1 · 29/12/2021 18:58

Sorry for my ignorance but what is the ‘mean plan’? Is that the name of it or have you nicknamed it that?

Meal plan in a lot of cases means planning what meals to make then buying the ingredients. I find life a lot easier if I just have to look at my blackboard and see what we are having for dinner that night.

TheRealHousewife · 29/12/2021 19:46

@SunshineCake1 I was asking about @Nomoreusernames1244 ‘mean’ plan not ‘meal’ 😬. They have explained it’s those pre-packaged meal boxes. TY for trying to explain.

@Purplepeopleeaterz welcome. Is Switch something you use via the TV ? I think I’ll have a google. I have some texture issues too but only around stuff like aubergine/courgette etc. I can stand soft slimy veg, especially if it’s gone cold. I can’t eat cold cooked mushrooms either. Have to be piping hot and still with some bite left. If I use courgette I can only show it the hot pan quickly 😬

Nomoreusernames1244 · 29/12/2021 19:51

Oh I’ve just noticed I said “mean plan”!! Typo!

Like I said it’s a prepackaged meal plan, just add fruit and veg. Worked for me :)
