Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

Yes me please!
I have 10 to lose but will most likely aim for 8.
I've been messing around for years now.
Are you calorie counting or doing something else?

whatdoidonowffs · 28/12/2021 11:28

Yep currently at 25 stone 😢 need a big push
I have to have a hernia op in the new year so any weight I can lose will help with recovery and possibly putting surgery off until I have been with my firm for 3 years and get paid sick leave
I’ve already stopped smoking for a month
Planning on doing a vlcd to kick start it and see how much I can lose by my pre op appointment on 3rd of feb
Fingers crossed 🤞

I am 19st Sad and would like to lose roughly 7/8 stone. Problem is, is that I hate myself, and I have ADHD, so if you tell me I can't have something, I want it even more.

I try to do mindful eating, and have lost half a stone doing it, but I'm not doing it in a healthy way.

In addition, my weight gain has been because of the meds I take for my back, and antidepressants, and because I can't exercise at the moment, because of my back. Ugh. I used to run, I loved running, but I can barely walk at the moment, so that sucks.

Susanmartha · 28/12/2021 12:03

I'd like to join you in a daily diet thread. I need to lose 6 stone to hit the upper reaches of normal BMI. I also like another poster need hernia surgery and was told that I need to lose weight before I have this, I'm waiting for a review in the New Year. I've been fat all my adult life and I'm now sixty, this is going to be an enormous challenge for me, so I need all the help I can get!

@HerRoyalHappiness........ I do not have 10st plus to lose, but do need to lose around 2st. And that is not intended to be a smug or patronising comment, just posting to offer a little bit of empathy. I think it's a great idea to have a daily check in "buddy", or even "buddies"! I realised I couldn't do it alone as I don't have enough willpower. So I joined Slimming World, and of course there is also WW. Now I know groups such as these engender very mixed feelings and opinions, and they are of course businesses. I was very wary and went along with a sceptical mindset, and don't buy into absolutely every aspect of it. But I think I've been lucky as ours is such a friendly supportive group, with a very good leader, and I need that sense of accountability, but in a way that is encouraging as opposed to being made to feel a failure. And I've personally witnessed some amazing and sustained weight losses. Would groups such as this be of interest to you?
HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 12:16

I've joined teamRH. Their no nonsense approach is exactly what my fat autistic arse needs.
My calories seem really high but as the coach said, I'm eating at least 3000 calories a day to be where I am now so if I eat 2500 for now ill lose weight and not be hungry and we can revise the calories as I lose weight.

So far today I've eaten scotch pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast. I'm thinking ill make a ham and cheese wrap or pitta for lunch but I'm not hungry yet so I'll see how I feel in an hour or so.

Would it be ok to join you? Jumped on scales this morning and need to loose a minimum of 6 stone. Feel awful but trying to be positive - starting today with decision to take cchange

Longingforatikihut · 28/12/2021 14:49

Can I join in? I have more than 10st to lose. I'm doing exante. I started this morning. Decided I needed to treat my eating like an addiction so I'm going cold turkey on food. I was planning to weigh in on Sunday mornings.

SparkleWhale · 29/12/2021 01:19

I'm here and starting with you. I'm 5ft9 and over 22 stone in a size 22-24. My first goal is to get under 20 stone then to 17 stone. Once I hit 15 stone it will be the lowest I've weighed in my entire adult life (I'm 33).

Let's do this!

WoodenReindeer · 29/12/2021 02:34

Me too. I am seeking diagnosis for autism and adhd (daughter diagnosed) and think this impacts hugely. Execurive functuon /planning/thinking. As well as intuitive eating makkmg completr sense qhen I read the book... but my intuition isnt working 🤦🏼‍♀️.

I dint think "diets" as such are the answer. But not really sure what is. If I magically won a ton of money Id pay for psych help. I know I need help but can't access it.

Im v scared theres a point where only surgery will work.

HerRoyalHappiness · 29/12/2021 07:40

I'm glad there's so many here. Not because you all need help to lose weight too, but because it means there's there's good support system for all of us.

I binged last night through stress. And I'm up to 19st 8.3lb. Hopefully just water wright and because I ate very salty things (crisps)
Start again today.

Just weighed this morning and I'm 22st7lb which is less than I weighted two weeks ago by approximately a pound.

I've ordered the four week Exante box. I can't be trusted with food - I like big portions of good and okay food but then constantly overeat crap food in the evenings. I don't drink and I've recently quit smoking cigarettes and I'm on to a vape which no doubt hasn't helped in the sugary cravings department. Exante is low carb and low sugar so if I can get through the keto flu, I know I can see fast and sustainable results for a short to medium period of time (maybe all year but I'm hoping to hit two goals before then).

Ideal BMI is around 12 stone for me so that's around 10 stone. Target 1 is 2 stone and 7lb away. Let's do this!

HerbErtlinger · 29/12/2021 10:58

I'd like to join please, I need to lose around 8-10st, too scared to step on the scales! I will make a start tomorrow. Determined to achieve my goals this year

HerRoyalHappiness · 29/12/2021 11:20

sparklewhale I love exante products but just can't stick to it I fail after 2 weeks or so and gain it all back.

MulticolourTriangles · 29/12/2021 11:23

Can I join too? Also have around 10 stone to lose. Dusted my scales off to find they are broken so going to order some more.

Such a good idea having a group of people with similar goals for support!

SparkleWhale · 29/12/2021 17:26

Consistency is my issue too. I'm really hoping I can do one full week and then take it a day at a time.
Scrooge89 · 29/12/2021 17:27

I’m 15 and could do with losing 6

HerRoyalHappiness · 29/12/2021 18:05

We've got this.

Longingforatikihut · 29/12/2021 18:22

Had a good day on exante today whilst back at work. 3 shakes and a bar (the banana shake is vile though). I'm not doing any real food for the first few weeks. I need to reset my relationship with food.

My new bathroom scales also arrived. I think my last ones got lost in the move.

Finally, I set up an excel spreadsheet where I can record my weight and measurements.

I've also been keeping track of of which exante products I like and dislike so I can just order a mix of my favourites next month and help me stay on track.

HerRoyalHappiness · 29/12/2021 18:34

I love the banana shake. I'm not so keen on the juiced shakes but I can handle them.

I'm not a fan of any of the savoury meals either. They're awful.

But the salted caramel bars are to delicious

Longingforatikihut · 29/12/2021 19:06

Banana tastes like kids antibiotics. Haven't tried any juiced yet but I didn't mind the Thai noodles I had yesterday. Definitely agree on the salted caramel. Simultaneously morish and filling.

Idontlikeworms · 30/12/2021 08:04

I will join, have 4st to lose and will start in Monday. I have too many meals planned in the next few days. I'm doing WW as it's the only thing that I can get on with. Are we having weekly weigh ins?

Blueplan · 30/12/2021 09:55

May I join you?
I have been 'dieting' since August and have managed to lose 2st 7lbs. I am having a small break for Christmas, then getting back on track.

When I began, I weighed almost 25st and am now just under 22st. In the past I have lost weight with WW, but an accident that affected my mobility, as well as a general lack of discipline, meant I put the whole lot back on.
This time round, I realise that I have to be able to maintain this indefinitely, with just the occasional, short break. Also, DH has some health conditions now which mean he also has to be very disciplined with food. During the week, I follow the WW system, but also keep an eye on carbs - made easier by DH's diabetes. At weekends, we are a little more easy going - maybe a glass of wine, a slightly 'naughty' meal , or a couple of chocolates etc. I find this makes it so much easier to be more strict with myself during the week.

Although I know I need to lose at least 10 st, I tend to think more in dress sizes. I started at a 32 and know that I begin to look 'ok' at around a 24 and 'good' at around 18. I am currently at about 28/30.
Apart from DH, I haven't told anyone else what I am doing - I find it puts a lot of pressure on me. A couple of weeks before Christmas, a work colleague said there was something different about me, but they couldn't put their finger on it and the (female) big boss asked if I'd changed my make up as I looked 'really pretty' - I know my face is thinner now.
I have a very important family event coming up in 2022, so wherever I am in the late summer, I will need to try to hold at that for a couple of months as I will need a very special outfit to wear and don't want to buy one that ends up too big on me.
Sorry to have taken so long, but wanted to 'get it all out'!

HerRoyalHappiness · 30/12/2021 10:20

Idontlikeworms ill be weighing in weekly on here although I weigh every day to track fluctuations
