Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

Joining in too! Gained a few stone (!) over the last 18 months and now weigh 19stone... I've joined WW so hopefully that will work for me.... we shall see!

SparkleWhale · 02/01/2022 09:36

Yesterday was a good food day. All whole foods and mostly calorie managed (slightly over 1500 calories) and logged in MFP.

I'm not too concerned with going over calories as long as it's not over 2000 per day. My BMR says 3000 to stay at my current weight but I am more concerned with eating good foods that keep me full.

Snowisfalling33 · 02/01/2022 10:12

I have a gastric band which I've failed to use properly, resulting in gaining all the weight back plus a lot more. So to start off with I'm not going to "diet" as such but focus on enabling the band to actually work so plenty of protein, no drinks with meals, no distractions with meals. Prepare small meals (side plate) and go back for more if needed.
Hope everybody's getting on ok? What are you all doing about the Christmas crap food that's still hanging around?

Longingforatikihut · 02/01/2022 12:01

Well, this morning I weighed in 1.25lb less than when I first weighed on Thursday (when my new scales arrived). Ready for my first full week this week.

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/01/2022 12:11

Luckily with three kids, including one teenager there's no Christmas crap left here!

PeaAndHamSoupFromATurkey · 02/01/2022 12:42

The Christmas crap is why I'm starting tomorrow as there's just still too much here and I like the idea of starting on a Monday anyway.

Im not going to be restricting myself on any types of food though. I find a lot of low cal replacements make my chronic pain worse so I still use real butter and cook with oil and I just make sure to count calories for absolutely everything I use. The NutraCheck app I use has a barcode scanner and it's UK based so I find I get on better with it than when I tried MFP so it's easy for me to add everything as I'm making it.

My one saving grace is that I'm not a big eater so smaller calorie controlled but filling meals work better for me. My main problem is really that I forget to eat and then I end up in pain, too tired to cook and just grab easy things like crisps or toast to eat instead and then I eat loads of them because they're not filling me up.

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/01/2022 12:51

@PeaAndHamSoupFromATurkey yeah, im letting myself eat anything I want so long as it fits within my calorie budget. If I tell myself I can't have something I want it even more.

Going to check out that app, it sounds useful. Thanks Smile
PeaAndHamSoupFromATurkey · 02/01/2022 14:01

I will warn you that it's a free to download app and you can use it free up to (I think it's) 5 items per day as their "lite" version but if you want to track more than that there is a charge. I do £3.99 a month on it but I think you get money off if you pay yearly. I figured that's still cheaper for me than the money I was spending at SW, especially when I wasn't even following the plan properly and still going along and spending £5 per week. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I just find it a lot easier to use than MFP, especially if I'm adding an odd weight of something. Smile

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/01/2022 14:19

Oooh I've not tried nutracheck.

DuckWithOneWing · 02/01/2022 17:08

I weighed myself this morning, and I've gained 2.5lbs over Christmas. Which isn't too bad, considering it was over the whole of the festive period. I'd rather it was off, of course, but I really enjoyed the treats.

Today is going well so far.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 02/01/2022 17:14

Been eating rubbish today, stollenand roses. But I did go for a walk for half an hour and reminded myself that this time last year I couldn't even manage 5 minutes round the block. I've spent the year building up my stamina so all is not lost. Tomorrow will be better.

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/01/2022 17:57

@DuckWithOneWing that's not bad at all, onwards and downwards now.

@BringBackCoffeeCreams building your stamina is great! Well done.

I've NCed for the new year finally but hi it's me, soup. Smile

Officially starting off today. Weighed in at 19st 1.5lb and going for a first goal of 16st as I was around that a bit before lockdown.

I'm not sure what my end goal is yet, I'm going to focus on my mini goal first.

I can't find my inch tape so I might have to venture into town today to buy a new one so I can do measurements.

And I've taken the plunge and upgraded my NutraCheck subscription. I was paying £3.99 a month but they have the annual subscription at £23.99 so it's a good saving and I hope it'll keep me motivated through the year.

I didn't mention before but I have two family birthdays this month and they're both big ones so there may be lots of alcohol, meals out and cake. Wish me luck. Grin

Longandwinding · 03/01/2022 09:12

Morning all! I honestly feel so much better after just 2 days of no alcohol, more fluids, walking 20 mins a day and eating lots of fruit and veg! Keeping busy and changing routine will be key for me. I'm going to aim for 1/2 a stone at a time as small manageable chunks! Let's all do this together Smile

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/01/2022 09:19

Morning! @ShinyPikachu good luck, im sure it will be fine. Everything in moderation.

@Longandwinding I feel better too. Its fab. Weighed in this morning at 19st 4.5lb, so 0.3lb off a 5lb loss, in just a matter of days!

OP posts:
Longandwinding · 03/01/2022 09:44

@
That's fabulous! I've just weighed too and I have a 3lb loss which will soon take me to 19 St something...a different stone bracket.. all these things are encouraging

ShinyPikachu · 03/01/2022 09:49

Well done to you both so far!

The first birthday is this weekend so I'm thinking if I come in under my daily allowance the rest of the week that should hopefully make up for it.

The app has said I should be on 1761 calories a day for my current fitness levels and my plan of losing 1.5lbs per week. I might adjust this later once I see how I get on at that level. It does add daily calories for exercise and I've linked it up to the Apple health thing on my phone so it should count my steps for me and calculate it accordingly. I'd rather not use those calories if I can avoid it though but we'll see how that goes. Grin

I've started off my day with a bowl of homemade porridge with some frozen forest fruits (added to the porridge when cooking just to defrost them). I made the porridge with water (partly for the calories but we're also low on milk 😂) but added a little milk over the top.

Before I would have made a much bigger bowl, no fruit but covered in sugar and a lot more milk so I've definitely saved some calories from my usual and it was still a nice filling breakfast for me.

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/01/2022 10:06

Such great achievements on the loss (@Longandwinding) and the smaller, but still filling breakfast. (@ShinyPikachu)

It's really encouraging to see how everyone else is getting on too.

Weighed in at 19st 1lb this morning which is a 1lb loss in a week. Really pleased with that, think the last time I didn't gain weight over Christmas was in 2003! Planning on treating myself to a trip to hobbycraft when I hit the 19 stone mark, hopefully next week.

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/01/2022 15:47

@elliejjtiny that's a fab loss! We'll done

OP posts:
ShinyPikachu · 03/01/2022 18:59

I started off well today but not going to lie, dinner was crackers and cheese (bloody Wensleydale with cranberries was leftover from Christmas still.) Also couldn't resist the last two chocolates and a packet of crisps so snacks are higher than I had planned. But I still noted everything down and I might go over after another couple of coffees tonight (instant decaf with semi-skimmed milk and no sugar so they're not too bad calorie-wise at least). I still have to walk the dog tonight so might claw some back if we go a nice long route.

I've added a widget from the app to my homescreen this afternoon so I've been looking at it every time I've been looking at the crisps again so hopefully that's something that will help me if I keep doing that. I did have a fuck it moment and almost didn't track the crackers and cheese but I know when I start doing that I'll give up again.

If it's not annoying for others I might post a screenshot of the widget at the end of each day (I'll add it currently onto this post) so I've got someone to be accountable to (in my head at least, you can all ignore me if necessary Grin). That's really the one thing I felt I got out of SW properly and when it went to at home or weigh in only through the different restrictions I definitely cheated a lot more as I knew I didn't have to discuss it in group.

Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?
ShinyPikachu · 03/01/2022 19:00

Oops I forgot to say well done ellie. I love a trip to Hobbycraft. You'll have to share your treats with us when you go. Smile

HerRoyalHappiness · 03/01/2022 19:17

@ShinyPikachu whatever helps. If it helps I ate ice cream today. I am still within my calorie budget, but I won't be hitting my fibre and protein goals because of it Grin but I'm not too bothered about them. As long as my calories are OK I should lose weight.
