Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

I wish I could swim. I'd go to lessons but I'm embarrassed by my size. I'd look awful in a swimsuit.

How's everyone this morning? I'm only just up. My kids are still asleep, going to have my breakfast in peace.

I'm similar to you OP but last Christmas my DP bought me some proper swimsuits. Not flimsy beach suits but proper swimming costumes. They have made me want to swim!

I now go 2-3 times a week for an hour. I may not be Rebecca Adlington but I'm happy with my paced breast stroke.

Check out Deakin and Blue.

PeaAndHamSoupFromATurkey · 31/12/2021 10:36

I'd like to join you too. (I'll probably name change tomorrow as I've realised it's still Christmassy).

I've not weighed myself for a few weeks now but I was over 19st the last time I did and I've enjoyed absolutely everything over Christmas. I don't even have a sweet tooth but because there have been sweets in the house I've just eaten them whenever I've seen them. So I know I'll have gained more over Christmas. I've gained about 3 stone since the first lockdown. I used to attend SW but it's just not for me any more, my last year there I just struggled to keep on plan. I found I get on well with the NutraCheck calorie counter app so I'll be using that to track calories, measurements, and any exercise I do.

I have various health issues including a heart problem so my exercise is limited to slower things (definitely nothing cardio related) but I used to attend pilates and yoga and enjoyed them so I'm hoping to start those again as well as going out walking (back and knee problems recently haven't helped there but I'm hoping weight loss helps with those at least.)

Good luck everyone, hopefully we can all manage it together. :)

Hippotastic · 31/12/2021 10:40

Hi all! Can I join too. I’m 19st 11 and absolutely fed up with myself. I feel sluggish and am at my heaviest in years. My joints ache and I am in a circle of using that as an excuse for being lazy, whilst being lazy and piling on more weight!

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 12:00

I've just eaten half a pack of oreos Blush in fairness I've not eaten anything else today so it should be OK calorie wise.

Hi All,
I would love to join you please. I have spent most my adult life over weight, I did once loose 9st through a VLCD shake diet in 2014 but it wasn't sustainable in the long term and did nothing to address my issues with food/binge eating.

I have tried every diet under the Sun and have let scales dictate my mood and my worth.

I am 34 and weight somewhere between 17/18 stone (I think) I need to loose 6/7 to feel confident, comfortable and more energetic for my 5 year old, and hopefully be able to conceive, and 4 + years of trying.

I am fed up of feeling miserable, and like I am failing so decided to try consistency this year. I know what foods are "good" I know I need to move more and I know weighing regularly does me no favors!

Hoping to join in and get the benefit of you support and wisdom!!!

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 12:32

katcha welcome. I'm sure you can do it. We all can.

katcha16 · 31/12/2021 12:53

@HerRoyalHappiness thank you! I certainly hope so, fingers crossed that by this time next year we will all be feeling healthier, more confident, and more energetic - it's certainly nice not too feel so alone!

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 12:57

It's really not nice to feel alone. I'm glad I started this thread. There's so many if us in need of support.
I've decided to take a day off today. Im not going to go mental but I want to keep our tradition of eating popcorn and chocolate to bring in the new year.

I'd like to join. Currently around 23 stone but having weighed yet because I'm planning on starting on 3rd Jan. I have plans on the 1st and 2nd so will get started on the 3rd

galaxybaby · 31/12/2021 13:52

Thank God I found this thread😂

I'm 21 and had my first baby in May. I last weighed myself in August and I was 19.5 stone (grim!). I'm now pregnant again with our second baby but I'm so determined to change my eating habits. My goal is to lose at least 5/6 stone by the end of 2022.

I really struggle with emotional eating and since the first lockdown, all I would do is buy takeout at least 4/5 times a week. I'm now starting a healthy cooking class mid Jan to learn new recipes and start eating healthier meals. I do want to eventually diet but I know cutting out the unhealthy food I eat so often is the best way for me to start. Sounds silly writing it but I haven't ordered any fast food since Tuesday and that's honestly a massive achievement for me. Long may it continue!

Thank you for this thread and I'm grateful we can all support each other too. 2022, let's go🎖

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 14:03

galaxybaby thats a great achievement, well done. And congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope it goes smoothly

sarahplane it doesn't matter when we start, as long as we start and put the effort in.

I way 24 stone. Blush this needs to be the year I lose weight.
I've got covid at but thinking mid January to start. Can I join you then? I want to lose 6 stone to start but ultimately 10.
I'm addicted to chocolate. Seriously addicted. I honestly think the only way to do it is to cut chocolate out completly
Wishing you lots of luck

We can do this! Take each day as it comes, and each decision on an individual basis I think helps. Instead of I'm going go have a "good" day/week etc, I try to think for breakfast I'll make x choice. Then when lunch comes around try to make the right choice there etc! Best of luck. We got this
HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 14:21

delilabell start whenever you're ready. Covid sucks ass, I've had it twice now. I hope you feel better soon

Can I join you please?
Would ideally like to lose the (nearly) 10st I have gained over the last 8 years. 2022 will be the year!

I have done all the diets going but a couple of months ago, I finally decided to spend some money and time on myself and get a PT. I see her twice weekly and go to the gym another couple of times a week. I cannot begin to explain how much of a difference it has made. I absolutely love our sessions, the buzz a workout gives me and the motivation to eat well. Previously would have never have considered myself to enjoy it but weight training gives me an enormous buzz!

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 14:51

redambergreen that's fantastic, well done you!

Meant to say I'm 22!

But thank you OP:) can I ask what diet you're on? I don't think I've heard of Team RH, will you be counting calories?

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 14:58

Team RH basically work out how many calories you should be eating and cater that to your specific needs. So my calories will decrease as I lose weight, or increase if my mobility improves. They've set protein and fibre goals to hit each day which helps you feel fuller, and they have Facebook pages and a group where you access training, coaches, walkie talkies (step videos) they also have dance/step workouts on YouTube so if you struggle to hit a step target when you're stuck in the house, you can dance along and reach your goal. The coaches are all really friendly and helpful and there's no judgement, although they can come across as harsh to some people. But with being autistic I live the very straight talking approach to it. Its a breath if fresh air

OP posts:
HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 14:59

Oh and they set workout goals too but I don't have to as I'm disabled. As long as I average 5k steps a day, which I do most days, then I'm fine.

willowboom · 31/12/2021 15:00

Hello! Can I join in please? I have six stone to lose and I am determined that this will be the year I do it. I've made half hearted attempts before but usually end a year a stone heavier than I started it, a pattern that has been going on for years. This time I want to change my perspective/ lifestyle instead of following a particular diet. It's easier said than done though, I am an emotional eater and use food as both comfort and reward, a habit I need to break.

Good luck everybody and a very happy New Year to you all.

greyinganddecaying · 31/12/2021 15:10

Hello - I'd like to join in too. I'm not weighing myself, but think I'm about 130kg 😢 - I'm less focused on weight than size, I'm well into size 22 now & my first goal is to be back into size 16.

I lost quite a bit of weight doing very low carb (the "idiot proof diet" pink book) about 10 years ago, but then piled it back on after having a string of miscarriages & a very poorly baby - I just didn't have the headspace to stick to it.

I have a few health conditions that will be helped by losing weight & reducing carb intake, so I'm going to follow a low carb/intermittent fasting (that is, only eating between 10am-6pm) initially and see how I get on.

Good luck all 🙂

Fatfiftyplus · 31/12/2021 15:18

I'll join you all on the 2nd if you have room for another!

Dread to think what I am currently at, will find out on the 2nd, it will be over 20st now. Knees and ankles are struggling now and I need to shift a few stone before WFH ends and I have to have to face colleagues (and the stairs up to the office 😳) I havent seen in nearly 2 years when I was at least 3st lighter.

No plan of action yet - MFP, weight watchers, slimming world, slim fast or something else - who knows!!! Lost 4.5st with MFP, just calorie counting and stopping all the snacking years back, but fell of wagon after a bereavement, so might try that again.

Katyppp · 31/12/2021 15:20

Can I join in too?
5ft 4in and 21 stone.
Am aiming to lose 6 stone in 2022, starting on Tuesday, Jan 4.
Am 54

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 15:25

Welcome all newbies! We've got this. I truly believe this year will be the one I make some drastic changes to my overall health, and losing weight is what's going to do that for me.
