Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

997 replies

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

@HerRoyalHappiness

Team RH basically work out how many calories you should be eating and cater that to your specific needs. So my calories will decrease as I lose weight, or increase if my mobility improves. They've set protein and fibre goals to hit each day which helps you feel fuller, and they have Facebook pages and a group where you access training, coaches, walkie talkies (step videos) they also have dance/step workouts on YouTube so if you struggle to hit a step target when you're stuck in the house, you can dance along and reach your goal. The coaches are all really friendly and helpful and there's no judgement, although they can come across as harsh to some people. But with being autistic I live the very straight talking approach to it. Its a breath if fresh air
I really like the sound of this! Sometimes I find a lot of diets to be quite brutal or the calorie counting to be obsessive but I might have a look into this one, thank you. You've got this💪
HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 15:43

galaxybaby the calories will seem really high compared to other diets, but they're designed to help you lose weight in a healthy way and nit be too hard on you and leave you starving and then binging on junk.

Hi!

I'd like to check in. I started in 2020 with the aim of getting to the end of the year lighter than I was last year. And have actually achieved that!

Started at 139.9kgs (I measure down the the gram!) And ending on 122.6kgs.

Had a crappy year with my gallbladder last year but had it out 2 weeks ago and ready to make a big effort to shift weight (gallbladder may have meant I couldn't have wine or fat but sugar was no issue at all!)

I calorie count with mfp, I'm tall so my calorie goal is around 1900-2000 ish (I'm not that strict). And I aim for 6k steps at least every day.

Been back within calories for 2 days now tracked on Wednesday but ended up at 2600 cals. First weigh day of the year is Tuesday.

HerRoyalHappiness · 31/12/2021 18:41

stackhead sounds like you've got a plan. I love a good plan.

How has everyone's day gone? I'm doing really well, sticking to my calories, drinking lots of water and hitting my step goals.

I'm hungover as anything today so I've literally only eaten one slice of toast. Having roast beef tonight with all the usual sides so I think I'll officially start on Monday and enjoy finishing off the last of the Christmas treats in the house tonight and tomorrow. Grin

stackhead · 01/01/2022 18:30

Within cals and steps acheived... mostly doing laps of my (not very big) garden while DD played.

I'm a nye scrooge anyway so was in bed by 11 and bo hangover Grin

HerRoyalHappiness · 01/01/2022 19:00

@PeaAndHamSoupFromATurkey oh dear! Did you enjoy your night though?

That would be me. I need to lose 10st. Though in 2021 I managed to lose 3.5st so I’ve got 6.5 left. I’m on the slow and steady wins the race path and hoping to lose it over the course of several years so it stays off permanently, but I’ve been plateaued for a bit so need to try to jump start.

HerRoyalHappiness · 01/01/2022 19:06

Welcome @Blossom64265
Slow and steady is a good plan.

Can I join? I don't want to say my weight, but it starts with a 2 (in stones). I did lose a lot of weight with SW in 2019, but I've had an awful few years and put it all back on!

I've decided to follow the SW diet as it worked for me, but I can't face going back to group and admitting I failed so I'm doing it on my own. So it's nice having a group of people to diet along with!

I did thanks. We just had a quiet night at home but the bubbly went down a bit too well. Grin DH couldn't get the normal one we buy so he picked up a random one that he found on offer and then decided he didn't like it so I ended up drinking it all by myself. Blush

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 01/01/2022 19:42

I've let rip today I'm afraid. Over tired after a late night and out of routine. Big roast beef dinner followed by too much homemade icecream (got a proper icecream maker for Christmad).

Earlier night for me tonight and then hopefully right back on the wagon tomorrow.

HerRoyalHappiness · 01/01/2022 19:46

@DuckWithOneWing don't feel any pressure to state your weight. I hope having a supportive group will help you.
@PeaAndHamSoupFromATurkey Grin sounds like a good night!
@BringBackCoffeeCreams oooh an ice cream maker! I love ice cream so it's probably a good job I don't have one!

Hello joining the thread I started off at 18 stone 6 in early September I lost 1 stone and had a gastric sleeve end of September I'm now at 14 stone., Still a way to go but really pleased with the progress so far it's the best thing I've ever done. My food issues seem to be reducing , still have the occasional treats but mostly eat healthy food I hardly feel hungry anymore. Hopefully reach a healthy weight by summer time .

HerRoyalHappiness · 01/01/2022 20:11

@Veeveeoxox well done!

I'd like to join too, I won't be starting for a few days as there is still SO much crap in the house and I need to do a Big Shop. I'll weigh myself on Tuesday morning, I'm back to work then so seems as good a time as any, but I reckon I'll be around the 17st mark. I've never been slim but after losing 2.5st a couple of years back and being fit enough to jog 5k, I've definitely gained loads back and my fitness has nosedived. I actually joined team RH a few months back but then for various (mostly crap) reasons I never really got started with it. I'll spend the next couple of days planning and shopping then get started on Tuesday.

stackhead · 01/01/2022 20:44

An ice cream maker would be a dangerous thing in this house!

My DH brought home some orange after eights and I'm going to have to be restrained because I could sit and eat the entire box tonight. I've barricaded myself on the sofa with a duvet and won't be going back in the kitchen tonight!

HerRoyalHappiness · 01/01/2022 20:55

@KatieKryptonite you've got this

@stackhead stay strong!

Feeling so weak willed today but I'm resisting the burger urges. It's boredom not real hunger.

Longandwinding · 01/01/2022 22:25

Hi I'm jumping on too! Thank you for this thread. I am 46, 5 ft 8 and 20 St 4.... never ever been this heavy. I hovered around 16 St ....at 14st I look fine but I realistically need to lose 9 stone. Im knocking alcohol on the head and trying to go low carb ... will do fasting once I'm settled. Its really useful seeing everyone's plans and encouragement. I am no longer telling myself that I 'deserve' some wine or a 'treat' ...I actually deserve to have a body that can move more easily, that doesn't feel I'm pulling myself around, and can get up without making the noises my 93 year old grandad used to make ...😶

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/01/2022 07:18

Absolutely. We deserve good health.

A new day today. Let's smash it.

Snowisfalling33 · 02/01/2022 07:36

I'd like to join this too please! I last weighed myself and was 20st 9lb, down from 21st 6lb so it's a start at least. I've decided that this is my year as I hit 50 in 2023 and the excess weight is really starting to take its toll on my body now.
My goal for 2022 is to get back on a horse at some point but I'll need to lose at least 6 stone for that to happen.

HerRoyalHappiness · 02/01/2022 07:55

@Snowisfalling33 welcome. Youve made a start on losing weight which is fab! Well done!

Joining up too! I think in kilograms, and when I converted your start weight and goal weight loss OP, we were very similar….so I thought I have to join! Here is to hoping we are both typing much lower numbers this time next year.

I love hearing all the positive, different ways everyone is going to tackle this. Cheering for everyone! I’m going to do a Monday weekly check in, and use the My Fitness Pal app to track calories and nutrients. I am also trying to see this as a lifestyle change, and come up with lots of low calorie meals I enjoy eating every day, rather than feel like I am eating rabbit food and depriving myself of things I love. Hopefully this approach means I don’t ‘fall off the wagon’, as there is no wagon to fall off!

START: 120.7kg / 19 stone
JAN GOALS:

  • lose 3.25kg / 1/2 stone
  • walk at least 6,000 steps/day
  • drink at least 2L water/day
  • see doctor about sleep apnea, after reading about it up the thread!
