Anyone else with 10st plus to lose?

HerRoyalHappiness · 28/12/2021 11:07

Im 30 and I weigh 19st 7lb.

Ideally I'd like to lose 10st. I'm obese and I hate it.
I started again dieting yesterday.

I can only manage 5000 steps a day due to being disabled, and I do those with a frame.

I'm hopeful that if I lose the weight there'll be less pressure on my already buggered joints.

Anyone else with a lot to lose would you like a daily check in thread with me?

How is everyone doing.
Like the sound of the ready meals I will get some.
I go on holiday this weekend, really hoping the seat belt fits and I can stay in control while I am there.

DuckWithOneWing · 09/10/2022 19:33

Naked burrito was not a hit! I'm sure some people would like it, but it was so spicy that even my parrot wouldn't eat it (this isn't weird, he eats all my food). Beef and broccoli was better although the texture of the beef was a bit weird. I'd probably buy it again for a change but not as my favourite option.

I've had some important work related exams this week which meant there was a lot of chocolate, and then yesterday there was celebratory wine because I passed them all!

ShinyPikachu · 10/10/2022 08:35

Back to square one after another massive gain here. :Sad

I'm feeling sorry for myself as there was a very clear shot of me pitch-side at the footy this weekend, chomping away on my pie and I really do look like I ate all the pies.

I started physio for my injury this week and the physio is happy for me to get walking more and to go back to Pilates as long as I skip certain moves. I know my instructor will adapt things for me, even if I'm just doing the sitting down moves at the moment.

DuckWithOneWing · 11/10/2022 07:53

@ShinyPikachu use the photo as motivation. You don't want to look like that any more, so what can you do to change things? You can't do everything all at once, but Christmas is in 10 weeks and think how nice it would be to be a stone lighter by then! You've got a great plan in going to Pilates.

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/10/2022 07:57

@DuckWithOneWing amazing about your exam results and you deserved to celebrate!
@ShinyPikachu try to put the photo behind you and move on. What's your plan for today and the weekend?
I am back from my break and terrified to hear Christmas is 19 weeks away as the thought of seeing my family at this weight upsets me so I need to get back on it.

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/10/2022 07:59

@HerRoyalHappiness I hope you are well, I miss hearing from you on the thread as you were so inspirational 💕

ShinyPikachu · 17/10/2022 10:08

Thanks @DuckWithOneWing and @Sunshineandrainbow

And yes I hope you're ok @HerRoyalHappiness and everyone else who has dropped out of the chat. You can come back at any time, we'll still be here.

I took the week just to chill and not super focus on anything. I didn't count calories but just went back to a bit of SW mentality with thinking more about what I'm eating and making sure I'm having more fruit and veg, I think that's been something I've been too lazy on. I've stocked up on frozen veg too so it's not even any effort for me when I'm already cooking and if I make macaroni cheese for the family then I'm making mine a cauliflower cheese instead etc.

And I've lost 4.7lb this week. 😁 I think it's just what I needed to get myself into the right headspace again. I started back at Pilates as well so even just that bit of activity will help me out as I don't want to just lose weight, but I need to work on my fitness too as it helps so much with my chronic pain. At the moment I can't even walk for 5 minutes without being in crippling agony from back pain.

Onwards and downwards (for my weight)! 😁

fidgetcube · 18/10/2022 10:04

DuckWithOneWing · 05/10/2022 20:10

@fidgetcube I looked into Saxenda last year, and from what I found out your GP can't prescribe it. It either has to be a specialist weight management team, or you have to get it privately which is really expensive. But you've definitely come to the right place - my BMI was over 50 when I started, and now I've lost nearly 100lbs so stick with it and I'm sure you can do the same!

I went to Tesco today and found some frozen ready meals I hadn't seen before. They're called "beautifully balanced". I've bought a naked burrito bowl and a beef & broccoli stroganoff to try so I'll let you know how they are. I like keeping things in the freezer so that I've got something quick and easy for days when I don't feel like cooking.

My gp said he can prescribe it provided I have high blood pressure, or diabetes/at risk of diabetes, or high cholesterol. I am in Scotland so maybe it’s different here, or maybe he’s wrong lol, I dunno.

anyhow, I had my blood test today, my blood pressure is practically perfect 124/83, it was perfect 3 years ago. Somehow I think I’m too healthy to have the saxenda prescribed. We’ll see what the bloods show.

DuckWithOneWing · 23/10/2022 11:11

I've lost 0.5lbs this week, which I'm thrilled with as it's been another not good week. I think the enormity of everything has started to put me off, because I've lost so much but I'm still only about half way there. I really need to get back to things so I can be where I want to be at the end of the year.

@fidgetcube Scotland is different for a lot of medical stuff so it might be different for you! How are you getting on this week?

How is everyone else getting on this week?

DuckWithOneWing · 23/10/2022 19:53

I realise I'm now posting straight after my other post, but I need to tell you all what I did this afternoon.

I went pumpkin picking, which is amazing in itself because it involved walking in a muddy field and there's no way I would have been able to do that a year ago. But then I went on something called a barrel train - which is where you sit in a small plastic barrel and get dragged along by a tractor!!!! I fit in it easily, and had a great time. When I was at my heaviest I would never have been able to do something like that.

Sunshineandrainbow · 24/10/2022 10:20

@DuckWithOneWing that is amazing, must have felt so good. Non scale victories like that are fab!
I have not weighed since holiday as I fear any small gain sends me down a binge spiral. I promise to weight next Saturday.
Not sure why I am Scared as didn't eat badly on holiday and did tons of walking!
Going to make some soup for Work today.

ShinyPikachu · 24/10/2022 10:23

That's brilliant @DuckWithOneWing - I'm glad you enjoyed yourself!

I've had a gain this week but had my period and one of those where I just wanted to eat everything going. Add a fibro flare to that which has led to takeaways and then some socialising with dinners out and it turns out the only dinner I've cooked this week was French toast for me and the DC last night. So a gain is definitely not a surprise after that but back to "normal" today.

I'm also loving being back at Pilates although I've aggravated my injury this week just with the amount of walking I've been doing (also stupidly tried to wear heels one night) so I might skip Pilates this week and wait for after my next physio appointment next week to see how it's doing before I do another class.

Echoes89 · 28/10/2022 09:15

Hi all

Just checking in 🙂 not much happening here weight wise. Been on holiday, tried not to fall off the bandwagon too badly whilst I was away. Now I'm back at the weight I was a month ago, hoping to get back on track again properly. 4st 6lbs down, 2st 5lbs to go. Would love to get 5/6lbs off by new year, would really like to have 2st to lose next year
Hope everyone is doing well

SW - 17st 3lbs
CW - 12st 11lbs
GW - 10st 6lbs

Sunshineandrainbow · 30/10/2022 09:28

@Echoes89 you can get back on the wagon, your weight loss is so impressive.

I am OK still scared to weigh at the momnent and should have done it yesterday. Not binging on food though which I am pleased about.

ShinyPikachu · 01/11/2022 20:53

1.6lb off this week.

I was a little worried about having so many sweets in at Halloween (even ones I don't like if they're there I'll still want to eat them). But we were so busy I didn't have any left so all those kids did me a huge favour.

How is everyone else doing?

Sunshineandrainbow · 02/11/2022 07:11

Great loss Shiny, I am struggling this week didn't get to eat lunch at work yesterday and came home and picked too much.
Today is a new day and food is planned.

DuckWithOneWing · 03/11/2022 12:20

I have a huge announcement to make.

I have lost 100lbs.

If anyone finds it, I don’t want it back. I’ve gone from a BMI of over 50 to a BMI of under 35. I’ve gone from being super obese to just obese. So I’m still not thin, but I’m a lot nearer than I used to be.

ShinyPikachu · 03/11/2022 13:52

Massive well done to you @DuckWithOneWing!

ShinyPikachu · 07/11/2022 09:46

1.5lb off this week.

These last two weeks I haven't been counting but I've tried to focus on snacking less so I can have treats like takeaways and stuff when I want without feeling guilty.

I had both a Dominos and a Chinese takeaway this week, then I made a sweet and sour chicken with the sauce we were sent in the takeaway which we didn't use, and then yesterday with the rice I had leftover from the sweet and sour, I made myself a delicious king prawn fried rice. All nice filling foods so I've actually not felt the need to snack as much anyway. I've also been eating eggs for breakfast a bit more as I find they keep me fuller for longer compared to cereal, porridge or fruit and yogurt.

Physio is going well, and I've been going out walking a lot more, although I did rest up more this week because I overdid it last week, the rain had nothing to do with that decision either of course. Grin

Sunshineandrainbow · 07/11/2022 13:46

Shiny you are doing absolutely amazing. I can not begin to imagine losing 100lbs that is inspirational!
I have planned lots of Stirfry for this week to try and get me back on track.

fedstool · 07/11/2022 19:12

@DuckWithOneWing wow!!! how did you manage that? well done you!!

DuckWithOneWing · 13/11/2022 17:51

@fedstool I've done it all by calorie counting so far. I've done minimal exercise because of an ankle injury. I lost just over one stone last year then the rest has been this year.

I currently have an awful cold so don't feel great. I haven't been able to eat much because I feel so ill. Yesterday I thought I was getting better but today I feel even worse than when it started!

ShinyPikachu · 14/11/2022 11:08

3lb off this week. Excuse me while I do a happy dance around the room. That's me up (or shops that be down?) to 6.6lb total since I restarted, so close to half a stone.

I have my period this week too and I've been craving doughnuts but I've avoided all other snacks really and I've been focusing on more home cooked dinners, even if it's just battered fish and oven chips with frozen veg when I'm having a bad pain day, still a lot better than always calling for a takeaway.

I've been getting a lot more active too, I'm really starting to feel the difference from the physio with my ankle so I'm actually looking forward to going out walking now. I tried a harder Pilates class this week as well, I had to skip a few of the moves but I still felt like I got an amazing workout from that this week.

ShinyPikachu · 14/11/2022 11:08

*Should, not shops. My autocorrect has a mind of its own at times.

Echoes89 · 14/11/2022 11:28

Slowest weight loss in the world here 😩
Really wanna lose the last few lbs to get out of the obese category, just need to keep going but a bit demotivated. Also petrified of just putting the weight back on. I wish losing weight was easier and quicker. Down to 12st 10.25lbs. the stupid think is, I would've been ecstatic to be this weight a year or 2 ago
