HELLO & WELCOME! This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. Due to pain medications I gained in January; however since I’ve stopped them (for now) I’m losing about a 1lb every couple of days (water weight). My goal for February is to see a firm loss of 4lbs.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

CescaNicole · 27/02/2021 08:54

Very true SunshineCake
I am going to compile a list of small nice things I'm to do if I find myself habitually rummaging the kitchen cupboards. Replacing old habits with new habits that will hopefully help with the mindless snacking and sugar binges.
But also not be too hard on myself if I do slip up, just draw a line and move on - find the wagon from down the road and climb back on! 😊

SunshineCake · 27/02/2021 16:56

Hi everyone

Glad my words were well received. I was a bit worried.

I had a brilliant run today and I need to focus on that. Every km except one was a six minute something. I ran 6.7km.

I am struggling with saying no to DD. DS1 just put me straight on something I was going to do for all the kids, including her. Hopefully dh will sort it.

Before all this I would eat when I wasn't hungry. I'd eat as sad, cross, bored or just for the enjoyment of a food item. I remember asking my BIL if he only ate when he was hungry and he said yes. I remember feeling really shocked and embarrassed. What I am finding now is I am missing chocolate, cheese, crisps as they would be the things I'd eat for fun, mid afternoon or in the evening when watching tv. Now that I am doing IF I eat lunch at 1 and dinner 5-6pm and then nothing else. When am I supposed to fit in some crisps or chocolate??!Grin.

Currently feeling emotional and don't know why.

Also, not understanding how weight comes off. I can drop a pound to a pound and a half in two days then go up the next time. I'm weighing every other day after I run.

CescaNicole · 27/02/2021 21:29

You do well SunshineCake, I would be eating something at 3pm too!! Plus you do all your running too!

I had a little look back through my MFP to when I started in October last year, and shocked to find that even though I was meeting my calorie targets, my sugar was 60/70/80 sometimes 100g per day 😳
Potentially some days not too bad where a lot of that is fruit in a smoothie but a lot of it not good otherwise. Sugar gets everywhere!
Damn! I never really looked properly at the nutrients part of it I just focused on the calorie numbers.
This has definitely given me food for though 🤔

SunshineCake · 27/02/2021 22:36

I just went with it today.

Lunch - picnic.
Snack - double decker. Lindor ball.

Dinner - curry. No rice. 1/2 naan.
Snack - chewing nuts.
Snack - crisps.
Snack - 1/2 cheese sandwich

Very hormonal tonight.

Hi Ladies

Some great progress being made!

Not feeling great but better than I was. Not posting much as don’t want to bring thread down. Such a good vibe going on it.

I’m eating mindfully rather than tracking everything. Scales stable so no complaints.

Keep doing what you’re all doing, you’ll be glad you did when lock down is over and you meet the outside world again feeling & looking great!

I can’t believe February’s nearly over ... I’ll create a new thread later today.

Have a great Sunday!

Finishing Feb at 10 st 5 lb so a 1lb loss overall this month. 24 lbs lost in total.

Glad youre feeling a bit better @therealhousewife 💕

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 28/02/2021 09:43

February has been very up and down.

Started the month at 181lb
Ending at 178lb

Only 3lb down and I've lost and regained that 3lb a couple of times. Desperate for gyms and pools to reopen so I can go back to doing my swimming and feeling more motivated to exercise.

March, I would like to hit at least 7lb loss. I need to get to 164lb to be in the healthy BMI so 14lb to lose to get there. It would be nice to achieve that ready for summer clothes shopping when primark and the like re-open and I can use my Xmas vouchers.

joysmoy66 · 28/02/2021 10:19

Finishing feb on 10st 4 exactly. Total loss since sept 1st 10lb. Total loss feb about 3lb. 4lb to go or a smidge more.

SunshineCake · 28/02/2021 16:18

Please post as much as you want @TheRealHousewife. This is your group, you could never bring it down and we all like to hear from you.

I have just come back from a run. 5km in 31 minutes. Feeling chuffed as it is a rare thing to do that distance in that time and I am consistently running at 5-6 min per km with the odd 4 1/2 spurt Shock. I don't normally run in the afternoon but I was feeling fed up and now I feel good Grin.

If I ignore all my weigh ins and go by February 1st and February 27th I have lost a grand total of 0.2lb Grin. Like others, I have lost the same couple of pounds a couple of times or so so I still think it is a win. And it is a win as we are all still trying.

Just to cheer myself up. Total loss since I started running in May is 1 stone six. Not much but hey ho. I can run five km in half an hour!!!

Puffalicious · 28/02/2021 17:21

Looks like Feb was a struggle for many of us, but we're still here and that's what's important. The support (and kick up the bum) on here was crucial for me mud month- I'm so glad I joined in Oct.

Ending Feb with a 2lb loss- it's still a loss. 19lbs in total is within touching of a stone and a half. NSV this morning- looked in the mirror just in my pants and for the first time I feel much slimmer in the stomach, waist and back. I'm so chuffed. Tried on a jumpsuit I bought about year ago that was neat and I looked like a sausage in skin too tight and it fits perfectly. It'll look even better with a bit more off.Grin

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 28/02/2021 17:43

Wagamama delivery for dinner tonight, Raman noodles with slow cooked pork belly and boiled egg.

I have eaten very carefully today and done lots of hard gardening to allow for a 700 calorie bowl of deliciousness.

Hi Ladies

I don’t know if MNs is broken or not but I’ve created a new thread with links 3 times today and they won’t post then they disappear. Frustrating!

A link might have been broken or something. Going to try one more time. I’ll make it a short intro with fewer links and see if that will work.

TheRealHousewife · 28/02/2021 22:39

I’ve just created a 4th Thread for March. Only link is for February. No photo attached. Still won’t post. I’ll try again in the morning. For now can you lovely ladies just keep posting here 😬🙏
