HELLO & WELCOME! This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. Due to pain medications I gained in January; however since I’ve stopped them (for now) I’m losing about a 1lb every couple of days (water weight). My goal for February is to see a firm loss of 4lbs.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Hi all, hoping for good things on the scales tomorrow I've been sticking to my calories and drinking loads of water.

Looking forward to gyms and swimming pools reopening and hoping we can stick to the mid-April proposed timeline!

Have all the ingredients prepped to make a BBC recipe for bolognaise soup to have for my lunch today which I'm looking forward to.

SunshineCake · 23/02/2021 17:51

Happy bunny here. Had chocolate though not a chocolate lunch Grin. Run was good. Times were brilliant. Weight is down. Had dinner and now have to resist a few Pringles. Doggy wants some. So I'll do it for her. Don't let me have them. The other day I was upstairs when I opened them and the speed she ran up the stairs...Grin.

@CescaNicole I just had a delicious burger, salad, chips and no bread roll. First burger in over a year was very nice.

Day 51
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
No change but I must admit I missed a few days
So 11.25lbs off in 51days - treading water a bit at the mo but maybe some movement tomorrow.

SunshineCake · 24/02/2021 19:15

Well done @HalfShrunkMoreToGo, @CescaNicole and @132orbust. I think a maintain is still a win.

I ate a huge lunch today as I have struggled around 8pm and realised I haven't been having enough lunch. I didn't want to appear greedy as still hungry and wanted something else while dh was happy with soup and bread. He then reminded me he has breakfast. He also has a second one most days after walking the dog! So today, I had a whole pack of bean sprouts, a courgette, two peppers, six mushrooms and some garlic. All sliced and cooked in the wok with a bit of hoisin sauce. Very nice and I stayed fuller for longer and feel I'll be able to manage better tonight.

In other news had to do an emergency trip to the vet and my poor doggy is feeling very fed up Sad.

CescaNicole · 25/02/2021 08:04

That sounds bloomin' delicious SunshineCake! I love hoisin sauce.
I do think that I sometimes just worry too much about calories and less about what I'm actually eating. I need more proper veg in my life!

Not good news about SunshineDog, I hope all OK.

132orbust · 25/02/2021 09:32

Poor Doggy @SunshineCake Hope he is feeling more cheerful today.
Day 52
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
11.25lbs in 52 days
Cannot seem to get into this last 7lbs and wonder if a fast day rather than a 16:8 might be the answer... decisions, decisions... of course it could be the cheese and biscuits last night that meant the scales did not move....
Must confess I was on another thread where a lady lost her husband yesterday to a heart attack and it brought back some memories for me and it really did make me think that I am crazy to be so bothered by a few smelly ounces!!
On the other hand I have that wardrobe full of lovely dresses... Decisions, decisions said 312orbust as she puts on her walking shoes to walk 'with' her friend who is 200 miles away.
Onwards anyway!

Puffalicious · 25/02/2021 10:29

132orbust I love your few, smelly ounces expression, it makes me smile so muchGrin.

Weigh in day and I'm very chuffed that I've lost the 4lbs gained last week. Those smelly ounces that made me sob last week seem to have buggered off again. It's all very strange as I never gain 4lbs in a week or lose it in a week either- I'm Mrs slow. God knows what was going on, I'm just glad it's off again. I was SO good, sticking to 800 cals on 3 days out the 7.
Ending Feb with only a 2lbs loss but hope to lose that other 2 soon to get to that magical stone and a half. 2 stone will seem in touching distance then.

Thank you all for the handholding last week, it made a huge difference.Flowers

joysmoy66 · 25/02/2021 10:49

10st 4.6 this morning so heading in right direction. Well done puff.

Fressia123 · 25/02/2021 10:58

Can I join in?

22/01 - 68.2kg I'm down to 65.8kg today so 2.4kg in one month give or take. My goal is 60kg with an "insurance policy" of 5kg. I'm 5ft3 with a BMI of 26 but I exercise quite a bit so I know it's not a true reflection of my overall fat content.

Puffalicious · 25/02/2021 13:19

Welcome Freesia

SunshineCake · 25/02/2021 14:46

Hi everyone and welcome to @Fressia123. Also, how are you feeling @TheRealHousewife?

SunshineDoggy has just played for the first time today, yay, and also got herself in the back door for the first time since yesterday, so I'm hopeful she is feeling better.

Well done @Puffalicious! . Great news. I've gone down today after my fastest run ever but overall I've not lost much, nett, this month. But it's fine. All progress.

AuldFox · 25/02/2021 14:54

Oops, I forgot to update on my weigh-in date last week! Glad to hear your dd is ok @SunshineCake

SW 61.5kg
CW 58.6kg

GW 55kg

I nominate myself for the Worlds Slowest Loser Award. Confused

132orbust · 25/02/2021 16:31

Oh dear I have just noticed I referred to myself as 312or bust earlier... Now that would really be bust at 5'2"!
A lot of slow losing on here at the mo @AuldFox . If I do push ahead with that fast day, it won't be today ....

SunshineCake · 25/02/2021 18:33

Ahem. I think that's me.

Don't fret. IME coming off slower means it stays off.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 25/02/2021 19:14

Switch to lbs instead of kilos @AuldFox you lose lbs twice as fast 😂

I've lost 55 lbs or 25 kgs, although for some reason saying 4 stone (so close, just 1 lb to go) feels like a bigger number than 55 or 25 when I say it.

CescaNicole · 25/02/2021 20:07

Well Done Puff and Joysmoy
Welcome Fressia!
HalfShrunk - 4 stone is so amazing! Inspiring!!

I think I need to quit sugar for good or something, I just have absolutely zero self control. I cannot just have a small portion of something as a little treat 😩 I despair!!
I need a long term plan to combat this. Or I'm forever going to be being "good" then bingeing. 🤔😰

Puffalicious · 26/02/2021 00:00

Yes Sunshinecake you slapped me good and proper, which is what I needed.

Thanks Cesca

Drybird2020 · 26/02/2021 07:05

@CescaNicole I'm very similar in my relationship with sugar -very uncontrolled in an all or nothing way. I quit drinking alcohol over a year ago and replaced it with sweet stuff. Before having kids I never touched it , but years of pregnancy, interrupted nights and breastfeeding gave me a taste for cake, haribo, all of it... I'm currently off sugar for Lent, its going well but maybe I need to make it permanent.

Still plateaued, this morning the scales are at 10.13. 5lb to go but I've been here for 6 months now so perhaps it is me who is the world's slowest lover 🤔

CescaNicole · 26/02/2021 09:25

Thanks DryBird, well done for sticking with it for Lent. I should have done that too I think!!
I am thinking of going cold turkey with it (refined sugar at least, will still eat fruit etc.) and starting on Monday on the March thread. See how I go!
I am still in the throws of breastfeeding/sleepless nights with my 5 month old (and to be fair the 2 year old doesn't sleep for love or money neither!!), but I'm getting fed up with the constant cycle I am in!

Fressia123 · 26/02/2021 09:59

I've weighed myself today and lost an extra 500g yay!

AuldFox · 26/02/2021 17:13

Well done @Fressia123
I lived on sugar when I was breastfeeding. Let’s just say there were a number of stones to lose once the kids were a bit older..... Grin
Hats off of those of you trying to lose post-pregnancy weight, it really is super hard when you’re exhausted and that cake is the only thing keeping you from falling asleep on your feet Flowers

SunshineCake · 26/02/2021 22:21

Hang in there everyone.

I lost the same half a stone at least six times but I have kept it off for weeks now. I'm currently trying to lose a new half a stone for the second time and no doubt I will have to lose it more than once more.

It is hard. Food is a comfort. Metabolism gets messed up. With kids to care for and houses to run plus jobs if you work, having a bar of chocolate, a cake, a bag of crisps, they are all quick things to give ourselves a treat or take a few moments for ourselves. What we really need to boost us, an hour to read, half an hour for a manicure, etc just doesn't happen hence the chocolate, the cake, the crisps. It is so important to try and find a better way but if you can't tomorrow then try the next day. We are all doing brilliantly and one day we will all be where we want to be. It just takes time and let us all be happy we do have time at the moment. You never know what will happen tomorrow. Just enjoy today and if it means cake for breakfast or a day of not eating what you want. Enjoy the cake. Accept it. Try differently tomorrow.
