HELLO & WELCOME! This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. Due to pain medications I gained in January; however since I’ve stopped them (for now) I’m losing about a 1lb every couple of days (water weight). My goal for February is to see a firm loss of 4lbs.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Hello and well done everyone for ploughing on.... February is proving as trying as January for me so far, but I keep telling myself that it's not long until Spring.

Still bouncing around the 11 stone mark, 7ish pounds to go. I know it will get easier as the weather improves.

LarryUnderwood · 05/02/2021 12:44

Happy February everyone! I'm checking in for my weight in. Have moved my weigh day from sat to fri, as I restarted focusing on diet last Friday. So, stats are
SW 165
CW 156.4
GW 133
Pretty pleased with progress so far.

SunshineCake · 05/02/2021 13:17

Don't fret @HalfShrunkMoreToGo better days are coming. We have sunshine today and it is a tropical 8 degrees! Remind yourself how much you have achieved.

I did a good run today and am a grand total of 0.2lb since yesterday Grin but I'm very happy as it is down and I feel so light.

I am worrying about my back and hip so considering taking more than the weekend off. This is my birthday month and I have decided no running that day, no cooking and I'll treat myself to breakfast Grin.

letsjog · 05/02/2021 13:23

@132orbust I jogged exclusively in nice weather which means the season for me is may-August when it's not dark out and I have some motivation to get my backside up for it GrinGrinGrin

Currently trying to be mindful and not skip meals because that would lead to me getting really hungry and snacking on biscuits and other crap between 4-5pm as I was waiting for dinner time.

Keep trying to make sure my water bottle is filled up at all times to reach for that. If I'm full from the water (which really I need anyway) I'm much less likely to rummage in the cupboard.

AuldFox · 05/02/2021 13:57

It’s sunny here today, spring is in the air, keep going everyone Smile

foreverchangingmyname · 05/02/2021 17:34

Ohhh can I join? I started my weight loss journey the end of last year after deciding enough was enough. I track my calories with MFP and have just done my first work out in a while (asthmatic recovering from covid). Since Christmas Eve, I'm 1 stone 4lbs down!

SunshineCake · 05/02/2021 22:26

Welcome @foreverchangingmyname. Impressive weight loss!

BlueBeeryPie · 05/02/2021 23:24

I would love to join....At Christmas I was nudging 10 stone 10lbs, did Dry January and was mindful of what I ate and am now 10 5.....
Continuing AF into February (formerly was a wine every night person) and hoping to eventually reach my ideal weight of 9 stone 7 lbs.
It's a very slow process but guess that's the best way?

BlueBeeryPie · 05/02/2021 23:29

Hey CescaNicole
It seems we are the same weight with the same goal for end Feb, 10 stone 3. Well done on your weight loss so far :)
Incidentally, are we similar height too? I'm 5' 4"

joysmoy66 · 06/02/2021 07:36

Small loss for me this morning-down to 10 stone 5.4. Upped the exercise over last couple of days so putting it down to that.

rivierliedje · 06/02/2021 09:47

Fell off the last thread!
I think I have lost a bit since the start of January. I'm relibaly doing XBX every weekday morning and going for two runs a week. I even managed a 10k on the very last day of January. I'm also cycling to work one day per week and walking the first 5k or so home from work on the other days.
Food wise, this week has been quite good, lots of vegetables, lots of happy pear recipes, only one real indulgence of chocolate!
So I want to keep things going in the right direction!

132orbust · 06/02/2021 10:11

Day 34
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
So 0.25lb on
11.25lbs in 34 days
Well that's a great reward for having walked nearly 10 miles on my Fitbit and eaten well - 0.25lb on.
Oh well, mostly going in the right direction Grin

Pepper54 · 06/02/2021 12:57

Hi everyone, up a half pound here, was annoyed as I had spring greens and salmon for dinner and Japanese dumplings for lunch. Then I remembered the crisps and wine last night! And my calves have been tight so didn’t exercise at all, not even a walk. Mystery solved.

I really don’t want weekends to cancel out virtuous Mon-Thursday. I need to force myself out for a run.

SunshineCake · 06/02/2021 13:48

My scales said I put 3lb on so I'm choosing to believe nothing is that quick. I'm going to try and limit the weighing. Daily does no good!

CescaNicole · 06/02/2021 23:17

I've been having an awful week and completely fallen off the wagon, haven't logged my calories, haven't worked out, have eaten all the chocolate. It's gross. My skin has broken out and my double chin is back I swear 😅
Not good.

Tomorrow is a fresh page. I'm starting again again again properly. Have planned everything on MFP, going to do a workout and if it's not snowing maybe a bike ride too. Will drink all the water I can.
Come onnnnnn!!!

Hello @bluebeerypie 👋🏻
Ooh yes! And similar end goals too: 9 st 7!
I'm 5 foot 5, so yes similar there too! Hey Twinnie ☺️
Well done on your weight loss too 🎉
You are far more likely to reach our Feb goal than me after my recent antics, but we can spur each other on!

Hope everyone is doing OK and hanging in there!!

letsjog · 07/02/2021 12:50

Can't get up in the morning to workout Blush hope someone will be along at some point to tell me how the heck they are managing waking up not like a headless zombie in the winter months.

Decided against using lbs as I know weight can fluctuate up to 1kg at different points of the day so will start using kgs as a more realistic weight loss tracker as I find lbs are smaller than kgs and fluctuate even more wildly for me if that makes sense which in turn makes me discouraged.

Going to start tracking my steps too.

foreverchangingmyname · 07/02/2021 14:13

I've stayed under on my calories all week and managed a work out Friday and Saturday and the scales show...nada. No movement whatsoever. Stuck at 17 stone.
My legs are aching today so think it's just gonna be a brisk walk with the kids and some wrist weights.
Not enjoying weekends at all atm since dd is now in to baking and there's only so many times I can make cakes, muffins and cookies and resist them Blush

SunshineCake · 07/02/2021 22:37

No running this week as we have snow so I will get on the bike. Have a good week everyone.

132orbust · 08/02/2021 09:49

Day 36
SW:151
CW:141.75
GW:132
So 1b on
10.25lbs in 36 days
Good Lord I am not sure what I ate, well I am sure what I ate but still...
Anyway it is Monday so need to knock the gains off and get going again.
Yesterday was a very lazy day which will not have helped.
Hang in there everyone.
Onwards and inwards.

Pepper54 · 08/02/2021 09:58

Annoyed with myself, regained 2 lbs since Thursday, had been doing well. Boozy weekend watching the rugby. So I’ve lost 4 lbs in 2 weeks.

SW 11st 7.5 lbs
CW 11st 3.5 lbs
GW 9st

132orbust · 08/02/2021 19:05

Hi @Pepper54, see my stats above as I haven't really covered myself in glory either!!
Today is a brand new day and we can move things in the right direction again(said 132orbust hopefully Grin )

SunshineCake · 08/02/2021 22:23

Just a quick post to say I hope you are doing okay @TheRealHousewife and not struggling/ suffering too much. Hopefully not at all Flowers.

132orbust · 09/02/2021 07:48

Day 37
SW:151
CW:141.25
GW:132
So 0.5 off
10.75lbs in 37 days
Better but still a way to go to get back to my lowest last week.
Onwards and inwards

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 09/02/2021 09:26

Didn't weigh this morning or yesterday as feeling rough, then my period decided to start today so figure that's why the rubbish feeling.

Really hoping I've dropped below 180 when I weigh tomorrow as it's a bit disheartening staying the same for several weeks.

Looking forward to the end of the cold when I'm sure I'll feel more motivated to get outside and be active rather than just layering up and curling up on the sofa to knit.

Pepper54 · 09/02/2021 09:33

Thanks 132orbust, it is bitterly cold and being constantly in the kitchen cooking while kids are home schooling isn’t making things easy.

I had a good nights sleep last night so feel my resolve is stronger today. I have decided to take a break from daily weighing partly because I now realise this is going to be slow. I will weigh a couple of times a week instead.

Have a good day everyone.
