HELLO & WELCOME! This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. Due to pain medications I gained in January; however since I’ve stopped them (for now) I’m losing about a 1lb every couple of days (water weight). My goal for February is to see a firm loss of 4lbs.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

I've realised that I cannot lose on diet alone, I need to do exercise and that's where I've been really falling down over the last couple of months with the cold, ice, snow, lack of swimming pool and gym.

This means I need to recommit to doing a minimum of 3 decent burn sessions a week, which will hopefully be easier to stick to with the slightly warmer weather.

Passthebubbly · 19/02/2021 16:38

Hey everyone, not been on in a while as have been so demotivated by the scales. I have not lost anything in 2 weeks now. So tough to keep going when you hit such a plateau. Keep reminding myself I am 16lbs down since start of year but 2 weeks with not a sniff of a loss is so frustrating.
Hope everyone else is doing well xxx

SunshineCake · 19/02/2021 19:40

Thank you so much @Pepper54 @CescaNicole and @Puffalicious. Haven't heard from her. She's only 17 so a while to go. Just panicking at her not appearing on Sunday. I know she is with the boyfriend and I assume safe. He does seem to really care about her.

What did you do with lunch @CescaNicole? I probably would have had what I really wanted but smaller amounts.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo I once did the shred for 30 days and lost nothing. I can't really remember but suspect I ate too much though feel like I did try. I was a pound down again today after going up four when not running but it still doesn't tell me whether I lose weight though IF or exercise Confused.

Hang in there @Passthebubbly! I went much longer than two weeks without a loss then suddenly dropped a few pounds.

I still feel like I am losing slower than everyone else on here but at least I am losing, enjoying running and are good at it, and we are all different.. I have to have a word when I sulk that dh can eat XYZ and not get fat or lose five million pounds in four seconds Grin.

Puffalicious · 19/02/2021 20:45

Sunshinecake meet your twin- slooooow loss and everyone around me loses in the blink of an eye!

SunshineCake · 19/02/2021 22:54

But off slower means it stays off for longer ime, @Puffalicious!

Passthebubbly · 19/02/2021 23:40

I am looking at it right now as not gaining is extremely positive. A loss is a bonus. I hate plateau time

CescaNicole · 20/02/2021 08:46

@SunshineCake I just went for it and enjoyed. Stopped counting calories for the day 😳

I did try to counterbalance it a bit by drinking 3.2L of water and doing
a 40 min cardio workout. So that's something. I know you can't out train a 💩 diet but it makes me feel a tiny bit better for the splurge.

Back on it today.
Going for an hour long walk with a friend pushing the buggies and our original plan was to get hot chocs on way round from Costa takeaway. I will be getting a green tea or nothing!

My DP said my waist looks slimmer this morning when I was getting dressed, so that's also a nice NSV that he has noticed a little change.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!!

Puffalicious · 20/02/2021 14:08

I hope you're right Sunshinecake because I'm NOT letting it go back on this time!

SunshineCake · 20/02/2021 18:16

Great stuff @CescaNicole and how lovely for your dh to notice and let you know. I have to ask mine if I look thinner Sad.

@Puffalicious. Full disclosure. I have gone up from 10 eleven to 11 1-5 but have kept off loads for months.

Puffalicious · 20/02/2021 19:58

Sunshinecake I always think within half a stone is acceptable then you keep it in check. I just haven't over the past 5 years, not sure why!

My target is 10 12, so very similar!

SunshineCake · 20/02/2021 20:00

I still haven't worked out my target weight. I think it might be because I never thought I would lose much.

Puffalicious · 20/02/2021 20:20

Well there you go, bonus!

joysmoy66 · 21/02/2021 16:49

Kinda fell off the thread for a bit. Currently 10st 6. Aiming for 10st or a smidge below. Hopefully by Easter. Well done all for sticking with it

SunshineCake · 21/02/2021 19:01

CommanderBurnham · 21/02/2021 19:11

@SunshineCake that's great news.

132orbust · 21/02/2021 19:15

Hi @SunshineCake I have looked out for your update.
'Smack her upside her head and then move forward' as my friend says and sleep well tonight Smile

CescaNicole · 21/02/2021 19:24

Good News @SunshineCake

Hope all OK 💕

Puffalicious · 21/02/2021 20:30

Oh I'm so relieved SunshineCake she's worried you sick- but won't even realise!

joysmoy66 · 21/02/2021 21:04

Phew sunshine cake that's great news

SunshineCake · 21/02/2021 22:18

Thank you everyone.

My heart wasn't in it to tell her off as much as she deserved so we had a calm but firm conversation and I think the way she behaved, completely opposite from her usual response when told off, means she knows how badly she behaved. I now have ten days of room service as I am making her self isolate.

Avocadorable · 22/02/2021 09:07

Sorry been missing since the end of January’s thread, well done everyone on your shrinking journeys 👏, I was the same as a lot on here hit a wall for a week and a half and gained a few ponds for no reason once as well, but I find things readjust on their own if you just carry on what you are doing. Sunshine glad she’s home and this lockdown is really hard for teens this is probably her way of a Thelma and Louise adventure for a couple of days do t we all wish we could do that sometimes :)
So update
Sw 16-10 )first week in January)
Cw 15-1
Gave up stress for lent I think that is helping no end :)

Pepper54 · 22/02/2021 09:29

Hi everyone, I’ve tried posting a couple of times but the button refused!

SunshineCake so happy for you.

I weighed and am back to square one, 11st 7 lbs, regained the 5 lbs I had lost. I decided last week my priority is to give up alcohol and joined a sobriety thread. Losing weight is still a big goal but I think it’s going to take a bit longer. I feel better already so onwards.

TheRealHousewife · 22/02/2021 11:23

Great news @SunshineCake 🙏

Thanks everyone. Had another chat with her today. She knows...

Been very busy today food shopping, cleaning and that's it. Just spent hours on it! Running tomorrow after I went yesterday. Need to get my head in gear as went down a pound or two then up another. I have realised that while doing IF and stopping eating after dinner, there is no time for chocolate and I have a lot of chocolate in from Christmas and my birthday, that I might have to have a day where lunch is chocolate Grin.

CescaNicole · 23/02/2021 08:12

@Sunshinecake a chocolate lunch 😋 YUM!

I went over my calories yesterday and reached for the chocolate after the announcement. Something to do with anxiety! A good day today hopefully before weigh day tomorrow.

B: Spinach, Blueberry & Vanilla Smoothie
L: leftover small portion of Paella
D: Beef Burgers (no bun or wedges unlike rest of family!) and salad

2 L of water and a 25 min cardio workout to get through.

Hope everyone doing OK 😊
