HELLO & WELCOME! This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. Due to pain medications I gained in January; however since I’ve stopped them (for now) I’m losing about a 1lb every couple of days (water weight). My goal for February is to see a firm loss of 4lbs.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo non scale wins are the best!

day5

SW: 142.0lb
CW: 139.2lb
GW: 126lb

Doing fast 800 for as long as I can then upping the calories and sticking to 16:8. Just enjoying the initial whoosh of weight loss before I get into the loooong slog.

Have a good day today all xx

Mrstumbletap · 17/02/2021 11:11

The heaviest I have ever been and it's shocking but I need to write it down. And do something about it.

SW: 11st 10.5lbs
GW: 9st 10lbs

Have chocolate form valentines DH has given me, how do eat that and lose weight??!

SunshineCake · 17/02/2021 14:05

Well done @CescaNicole! That is great news. My scales tell me stuff about fat and water but I don't understand so ignore it Blush.

Huge congrats @HalfShrunkMoreToGo on your size 16 dress. Such a confidence boost! Well done. Looking forward to seeing the photo of the cake Grin.

@132orbust I was probably being dramatic but she has gone within the UK on a train. Just wish she'd come home. Have to accept probably not before Sunday.

Does anyone have advice whether to just feed her as she isolates in her room and be normal with her or absolutely tell her off ?Sad. She's not one to listen, change her mind or see others point of view. Partly selfish teenager, partly might be HFA.

@Mrstumbletap eat a small amount each day. Walk for an extra twenty minutes.

I can report a very good 6.6km run this morning. My first once since February 5th. Great times so I am really happy. I appeared to have gone up to 11 5 the other day and was fed up. Today I am 11 3.6lb so very happy as only two pounds heavier than my last run day and it is close enough that I can be ten something in the near-ish future.

Take care everyone Smile. Hope you are okay @TheRealHousewife Star.

132orbust · 17/02/2021 14:17

Oh I see @SunshineCake when you said she had left the country I thought she actually had and wondered how she had managed it.
I am desperate to leave the country to see my parents as it has been 14 months and my Mum is 89 so it is a terrible worry both that I will not ever see her again and that my Dad will drop from exhaustion with no break.
I thought I could take inspiration from your daughter on how to do it!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 17/02/2021 14:56

Here you go @SunshineCake I'm very impressed with her icing skills, I couldn't do it now let alone when I was 6, also a bit jealous of the fact she's just had a massive slice of pink coloured vanilla sponge filled with jam, buttercream and strawberries and I can't eat any 😂

Puffalicious · 17/02/2021 15:29

Brilliant HalfShrunk that must feel amazing, especially Next, which is quite neat made.

Don't worry about the little gain. I've been an eating mess too, not helped by pancake day. Weigh in tomorrow and expecting a gain, but we've got this.

CescaNicole · 17/02/2021 20:22

Well Done for losses guys 🙂

Well Done @halfshrunkmoretogo on the non scale victory! They are worth more celebration than the number on the scales IMO 🎉 the doggy cake looks delicious!! Very clever too!

@mrstumbletap I would have a little bit here and there and include them in Calorie count (if you are Calorie Counting!), or hide them from yourself and have them in a week as a treat for starting weight loss journey!! You got this!

Good day today!
B: Green Smoothie
L: Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs
D: Mushroom Risotto
Snacks: a lemon yoghurt & and a go ahead bar
Finishing day @ 1350 odd calories

2 L of water done 💦
25 min Strength Workout done 💪🏻

SunshineCake · 17/02/2021 20:56

Sorry @132orbust and sorry for the confusion. I see England as a different country. I really hope you get to see your parents very soon.

That cake is amazing. Well done Mini@HalfShrunkMoreToGo Star. Maybe just a small slice for mum Smile.

132orbust · 18/02/2021 08:32

That's ok @SunshineCake - I think I was clutching at straws and wondering if there was some way. I suspect my Mum would say ' stay where you are, we don't want your London germs' anyway.
So on to happy things.
Finally feel like I am moving forward again after threading water for 2 weeks - up and down, down and up.
Day 45
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
1lb off
So 11.25lbs off in 45 days.
Off to see if I can walk a bit more off now. It would be lovely to get to 7lbs to go by 1st March.
Have you got a recipe for the mushroom risotto @CescaNicole DH makes a fab risotto but there is 11M cals in it!

CescaNicole · 18/02/2021 09:11

We just used a WW recipe from the internet! Not doing WW but gave the recipe a try. We are also very boring and left out the white wine - I don't do alcohol, even in cooking 😅😴
MFP said 1 serving was 340 calories.

TheRealHousewife · 18/02/2021 09:52

Good morning Everyone

I thought I pop on to say hi. Still the same. As part of my annual review I had my MRI recently. Waiting to discuss with consultant. My SCI affects everything (pain a given) even typing. My fingers don’t have enough charge (capacitance) to type in a timely manner. Everything is really hard work at the moment.

Sorry to hear about your dd and your back pain @SunshineCake. I’ve not read the full thread but got the gist of it. Hope everything resolved soon.

Well done everyone on your losses. @HalfShrunkMoreToGo congrats 👏 on your journey so far, you’re doing great 👍.

I'm feeling just so hopeless and Ive been crying. How can I have put on 4lbs in one week? I could feel a bit, thought maybe 1lb, but 4lbs?! Yes, I've been a bit naughty- bit of bread here, 2 pancakes, some risotto, some nuts- but double what I put on over Christmas when I ate what I liked?!!

I hate my stupid body. I thought I'd be a stone and a half by the end of Feb, a real psychological boost, but now it'll take a month to lose the 4lbs again- at least. I'm so down i just feel like cutting my skin off. It looks like I need to eat almost nothing to get to my target.

Noone gets it, it's so fucking hard. I hate myself, hate my body, hate life today.😪😪😪

132orbust · 18/02/2021 11:24

Oh @Puffalicious that is miserable and I so sorry you feel like that.
It probably isn't a real 4lbs as I know that when I eat bread and carby things my body seems to .....eeemmmmm.... how can I put this..... hold on to weight. Then the next day or two with protein and lots of veg and other fibre it.... lets it go again.
I think it is why I lost so much weight at the start of Jan after a very carb filled Christmas/New Year.
Please also remember, and yes I know we all want to lose weight on here, that you are much more than a number of a scale.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

132orbust · 18/02/2021 11:35

Also @Puffalicious even if the 4lbs are real you have still lost over a stone and I see from your posts on here how kind and caring you are and the last year since you lost your Dad must have been so hard and you have still achieved a lot while coping with your grief - please don't be sad about a few old smelly ounces.
If you want to keep going then draw a line under it today and have some soup or other filling low cal stuff and weigh again tomorrow - if you want but only if you want to do that. You can do it, this is just a blip Brew

Puffalicious · 18/02/2021 11:39

That's so kind 132, so very kind. I just needed to get the feelings out and I can do it here. My DH called on his break and he says even if I hate it he loves my body! He's just so good. But his body is like a well oiled , super-fit machine and I'm surrounded by lithe DC. None of them understand how little I need to eat.

It's taken me since mid Oct to lose 19lbs and this feels like a huge set back. I hope you're right about the carb weight. I'll be low carb and no sugar all week and see what happens. I'm vegetarian so high protein can be a struggle.

Thank you for your kindness, it really helps.Flowers

Puffalicious · 18/02/2021 11:42

Smelly old ounces has made me laugh out loud! Grin

You must have read my mind: I'm going to make 2 huge pots of different soup today and freeze loads. Back to MFP logging every, little morsel.

Thanks again.

Mrstumbletap · 18/02/2021 12:08

@CescaNicole @SunshineCake thank you, both very sensible suggestions.

And yes I'm calories counting and going to try to do a mini fast today as well. Hold out until dinner then have stir fry.

Pepper54 · 18/02/2021 12:21

Oh Puffalicious don’t let it get you down. I do sympathise, I am not losing here and am certain I have regained what I lost. Fresh air usually cheers me up and music. Your DH sounds lovely. Keep going and maybe ignore the scales for a few days?

Puffalicious · 18/02/2021 12:38

Pepper thank you. I only weigh once a week, so will try to put it out of my mind until next Thursday. I do go walking with music on, so when DH gets back from work ill get out. My DH is the best man on the planet- in my opinionGrin, it helps enormously.

CescaNicole · 18/02/2021 13:45

Oh @Puffalicious,
I hope you're OK! Please don't hate your body! I know it can be so disheartening when this stuff happens!! You're in it for the long term so there will be a few bumps along the way. Draw a line after today and keep your chin up!! Your DH sounds very supportive which is lovely!! You can definitely turn it around! Keep going!!
I also LOLed at smelly old ounces 😂

Puffalicious · 18/02/2021 14:05

Thanks CescaNicole the support on here really matters- I'd want to throw the towel in otherwise. I just didn't think 4lbs was even possible in one week! I didn't even cheat that much.

I keep pining for my size 12 body when I met DH 10 years ago (not even the size 8 one pre kids 17 years ago, ill settle for the one a decade ago!) but need to pull up my big girl pants (bigger than I'd likeGrin) and get on with it. It's my day off, so had time to wallow a bit.

I'll do a bit of a mini fast and then get positive again.

SunshineCake · 19/02/2021 07:44

To all those struggling. You are trying which is massive. Read my old threads so you can laugh at my stropping at being the only one not losing anything and putting on. Hopefully the laugh will burn off an ounce or ten. But eventually it kicked in and weight came off. I was slow. It took about three months to lose a stone iirc but I have kept it off and I haven't seen the high of 12 stone since August.

. Come on girl, you've got this. I had 12 days off running with my birthday last week and went up four pounds. I was so annoyed as I hadn't even gone as mad as I could have done the amount of chocolate in the house. But one run later and I'm only actually 2lbs up on my last run day. It's not much. It will come off. We are all cheering you on @Puffalicious. Start afresh today and up your water intake. And just another thought. I wasn't losing weight as I wasn't eating enough..

So sorry to hear you are having such a rough time of it @TheRealHousewife. I hope things pick up very on FlowersFlowers.

I dreamt dd was in a plane crash but I woke up before getting to her so don't know if she's okay. I'm asking a huge favour Can you all please keep everything crossed she comes home on Sunday if not before ? Thank you.

Pepper54 · 19/02/2021 11:12

SunshineCake of course re your DD, it was just a shitty dream but I will keep her in my mind. Flowers

CescaNicole · 19/02/2021 12:10

I have everything crossed for you @SunshineCake
Have you heard anything from either of them at all? Do you know she is at least safe? It must be so worrying 😭💔

DP is derailing me today and ordering McDonald's Uber Eats for Lunch!! I am definitely joining in, but I can either have something small and stick to my calories or I can jus enjoy it as a little treat and have a day off (although I won't be eating anything else naughty today).
What do u guys do in this kind of situation? Go for it and enjoy or just have a smaller amount? 🤔

Puffalicious · 19/02/2021 12:42

Thanks Sunshine Cake you are such a tonic! I've taken the slap right on the face!

I do sometimes think about not eating enough, but ill shed these 4lbs first and re-evaluate. I'm a slow loser too, so the gain is especially hard to take. I'm back in fighting mode today. In work, so no time to think of scales!

It was indeed just a dream: she's fine; she'll be home on Sunday; soon she'll be 21, over the worst of it and taking you out for coffee(too far?Confused).
