HELLO & WELCOME! This thread is for those of us who enjoy healthy eating, exercising and feeling motivated to reach (or maintain) a healthy weight/bmi. The founding members of these threads are inspirational and supportive in equal measure. I’m sure @SunshineCake & @halfshrunkmoretogo won’t mind me using them as Poster Girls.

They have both demonstrated that if we eat right, get outside & move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for 3 years and I’ve lost over 40lbs. I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated. Due to pain medications I gained in January; however since I’ve stopped them (for now) I’m losing about a 1lb every couple of days (water weight). My goal for February is to see a firm loss of 4lbs.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on these threads. We are in this together.

Hello and thank you @SunshineCake for rescuing me from the solitude of the Jan thread!
Here is my stats for 2nd Feb:
Day 30
SW:151
CW:140.5
GW:132
I know it is just 0.25lb but it is a step in the right direction again.
10.5lbs in 30 days.
Onwards and inwards!

Ladywinesalot · 02/02/2021 12:23

This is proving to be harder then I thought...

Homeschooling is killing me last couple of days.
I don’t have the energy to cook properly so am sticking on freezer food.
So annoyed with myself...

SunshineCake · 02/02/2021 15:51

Grin @132orbust.

Hang in there @Ladywinesalot. It is just one meal, one day. Start again at your next meal.

132orbust · 03/02/2021 08:06

Well I cannot believe this ( I weighed myself twice to check!) after getting stuck for what felt like ages and then a small loss yesterday which I was so pleased about
Day 31
SW:151
CW:139.75
GW:132
So 0.75lb since yesterday!
11.25lbs in 31 days
Now I know that I might be up a bit tomorrow but I am happy to be 9 stone something for even a day knowing I'll get back there again.
Downside means I probably should stick with Dry Jan a bit longer.
@Ladywinesalot it is hard when you are cooking for a family. You could cook a ton of veg and have a little of what they are having and lots of the veg or if you want something easy have a sachet of porridge with pears, chopped bananas and strawberries - it is really quick, delicious and satisfying.
How old are your children?

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 03/02/2021 08:14

Not a great start to the month but I had an awful weekend for food and was actually 183 on Monday morning so that's coming off and I need to retain my focus no motivation so it's lower next week.

Start of this weight loss journey was 233lb, BMI 35.4

27/01/2021 - 180lb, BMI 27.4
03/02/2021 - 181lb, BMI 27.5

Loss this week - gained 1lb
Loss this month - gained 1lb
Total loss since starting - 52 lb

TheRealHousewife · 03/02/2021 09:28

Good Morning Everyone

Ladywinesalot I sympathise with the home schooling. Mine are teens and good kids but still the constant meal preparation and clearing up, helping with tech difficulties, finding non galvanised iron for a chemistry lesson, film them doing some exercise! Yesterday was exhausting. I cannot imagine dealing with younger kids. I think using freezer meals is completely forgivable.

B Coffee
L Scrambled eggs
D Salmon and lots of veg

AuldFox · 03/02/2021 09:48

Morning all, it’s my first weigh-in of the month.

SW 61.5kg
CW 59.5kg
GW 55kg

I’m very pleased to get into the 50 kg range (I’m short so it’s a normal BMI for me)

Hope everyone is coping in this dreary weather Brew

Puffalicious · 03/02/2021 11:14

Thanks The Real Housewife that Feb calendar is lovely.

Sad today- Dad's first anniversary- but laughing through the sadness at all his eccentricities. He was a man of no subtlety. On numerous occasions over the years he would say " Looking a bit round shouldered there Puff" or " Don't worry, the roll will keep you warm" or even, years ago " Don't be getting too gaunt, you'll lose your pretty face". He was hysterical and all of us girls just let it go. He also commented on everybody else's weight too, not just ours but never meant harm.

Hope I don't hit the chocolate today as I'm pre menstrual too.

SunshineCake · 03/02/2021 12:57

Well done @132orbust. I've been up a week or two but have your mind set. I saw 10 stone something before so will again. Well done.

Don't fret @HalfShrunkMoreToGo. It wasn't two pounds or more up Smile.

Flowers @Puffalicious and one 🍫 in honour of your dad.

I am so relieved to announce a loss from last Wednesday. Only 0.6lb down but in between I was up about two more pounds and so the 0.6 is a nett loss on top of repeat loss. Hope that makes sense. I nearly cried the last two days when I lost nothing so I am relieved.

SW 196lbs. Oct 2018
New SW when running 177lbs
CW 155.8lb
GW No idea

I work in stones and pounds but I thought I'd join in the pounds bit.

Have a good day everyone. Thanks for the calendar @TheRealHousewife. I'll look after lunch.

Pepper54 · 03/02/2021 14:23

That’s great news SunshineCake!

letsjog · 03/02/2021 15:42

Hi ! Can I join?

Started last year and lost around 22lbs between May and early August. Down from around 11st 5lbs to 9st 12lbs. Combination of exercise and MFP calorie counting.
Fell off the wagon from September and gained around 4/5lbs between then and Christmas when all bets were off Blush

Currently at 10st 3lbs and hoping to get down to 9st 6lbs which I think is my optimal weight and when I feel my best.
Will try and achieve this by cutting out most sugar, reducing my carb intake and increasing my greens and plenty of moving/exercise.
Hopefully. Currently looking up some recipes as I'm very picky with my veg.

Puffalicious · 03/02/2021 20:09

Thanks Sunshine cake you're always so lovely.

132orbust · 03/02/2021 21:06

Lots of great news on the thread and welcome @letsjog. You and I have the same GW and are currently almost the same weight so we can have a little competition to motivate us as we need something to keep us focused.
@Puffalicious 🥰so hard for you today but such happy memories 🥰
@SunshineCake we will get where we want to be - positivity is the key!

Foreverlexicon · 04/02/2021 05:04

Apologies for immediately vanishing from the previous thread. Took another couple of weeks to get my head into gear but I’m now on day 4 of keto (I was reluctant, partner persuaded me to try it) and it’s going very well surprisingly.

I’ve got a massive sweet tooth so think I’d be struggling but actually quite enjoying it.

I hope everyone else is doing well!

letsjog · 04/02/2021 08:32

Good morning! Thought I'd get all my stats down like everyone else on here!

Last summers stats
SW: 160lbs (73kg)
End W: 138.8lbs (63kg)

Gained since then: just over 4lbs (2kg)

Current stats:
SW: 143.3lbs (65kg)
GW: 132lbs (60kg)

Want to lose: approx 11lbs (5kg)

Going to try intuitive eating as I've been reading about it.
Today or tomorrow (homeschool and WFH allowing) I also want to look up some recipes and shop / make a big batch of vegetables to easily add to my meals throughout the week as I often lack motivation to get prep veg when making dinner everyday.

Hope everyone's having a good day!

132orbust · 04/02/2021 09:32

We really are very close in weight @letsjog though no chance of me jogging anywhere! I do love to walk for miles whenever I get the chance.
Day 32
SW:151
CW:139.50
GW:132
So 0.25lb off.
11.5lbs in 32 days
Very surprised to have another small loss today as I was preparing myself for a slight gain after a decent sized dinner last night.
So what is working? 16:8, Dry Jan into still dry Feb, smaller portions bulked out with lots of vegetables, less treats and really enjoying them rather than stuffing them in.
This is all so I can comfortably fit into some clothes I love and have had for anywhere between 2 and 15 years. I will start at the newer end this weekend and see how far I have got.
Have a great day everyone.
Onwards and inwards.

TheRealHousewife · 04/02/2021 11:08

Good Morning Everyone

Currently relapsed with episodes of pain/disrupted sleep. Apologies if I’m absent for a few days.

Take care everyone and keep going. You’ll be glad you did 😊

Pepper54 · 04/02/2021 12:21

TheRealHousewife take care of yourself and don’t worry about us.

Dived into a bag of pistachios yesterday and couldn’t seem to stop, was positive I had gained today as dinner was a big portion and I had a thick piece of bread. Amazed to see I lost 1/2 lb. Determined to be strict today.

B Coffee
L Tomatoes, feta, olives
D Chicken Caesar salad

132orbust · 04/02/2021 13:25

Oh dear @TheRealHousewife this is obviously an ongoing situation for you Flowers Lack of sleep is so debilitating alone, never mind with pain too.
I know what you mean @Pepper54 I had a big dinner last night so was very pleased to lose a bit more today. It must be keeping our metabolic rate up! Well done.

Puffalicious · 04/02/2021 16:56

Bit disappointed stayed the same this week. But onwards and upwards.

SW 13st 12
CW 12st 9
TW 10st 12

SunshineCake · 04/02/2021 19:06

Hope you feel better very soon @TheRealHousewife

My back pain has kicked back in for the last two nights. I candy put my right foot down without sharp agonising pain. This morning I went on the exercise bike and then walked the dog for over an hour. I really hope I can get out for a run tomorrow as same weight today as yesterday. I do get quite cross if I don't lose daily but I can't stop daily weighing Sad.

SunshineCake · 04/02/2021 19:06

It is not a gain @Puffalicious so it is a win Smile.

Puffalicious · 04/02/2021 21:09

Yes, you're right SunshineCake. I hope the back eases. I know you've got a goal, but please don't hurt yourself, take a day or two off.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 04/02/2021 21:15

Poop!

And blah and grrrrr

That is how I'm feeling, just a growling, grumpy, fed up lump.

Dieting going ok, been really good this week and expecting a pay off when I weigh next week, I'm just fed up.

Lockdown, rain, cold, misery. Blah!

Sorry everyone, not being very good at keeping up with the thread and spreading positivity, I promise to be better if we can get a couple of days sunshine and not really fucking cold!
