Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Yes would love to but have never lost weight before, I only read on here how difficult it is!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:44

Day one

Mindset (this is a book by Mike Howard called Lean minded - and not my own ideas). One a scale of one to ten - rate your confidence in being able to accomplish your desired goals.

8/10. I have a lot of slip ups in my past but I have a plan, I have the time and I have the resources.

Meal plan: B. Oat bran pancake with ricotta and pear
L. Chicken and courgettes.
D. Seafood soup from Louise Parker Lean for life
S. Almonds

Exercise: Morning Meltdown cardio workout 1/100 done!

@longlockdown - hello! How are you? Do you have a plan?

OP posts:
Longlockdown · 18/04/2020 12:01

Yes, so far have started putting food into My Fitness Pal and staying under 1200 a day.
Going for a walk of at least 2 miles every day (easier under lockdown).
Drinking less wine (hmmm).
Aiming to lose a pound a week. Is this doable? I just want instant results, I lose interest so quickly!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 15:01

@longlockdown - brilliant. Sounds like a great plan. A pound a week is definitely doable. Lots of little losses that over time add up to a big loss - is how I like to think about it.

I’m in! Can I start Monday though. I am probably same weight and goal as you but will weigh in on Monday morning and report back.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 19:01

@HobbsandShaw - that is great! I am so pleased you are in!

OP posts:
Ploughingthrough · 19/04/2020 01:15

Can I join you? I have lost 2 stone lately and my current weight is 9 stone 12. So far my success has been through Intermittent fasting and an increase in exercise. I would like to be around 9 stone although not sure I'm ever going to make it at the moment.... 9 stone 7 is my first target.

I'm going to do a Fitness Blender cardio workout every morning instead of every other, and try and reduce carbs a little (although I definitely cannot be a no carbs type!)

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 19/04/2020 08:18

@Ploughingthrough congratulations on your two stone loss!
I like fitness blender workouts as well.
I am so glad you are here!

I’ve slowly lost 21lb over the past year. 15lb left to go and would like to start using this lockdown and social distancing as a boost since it’s generally socialising and work that are my downfalls.

I’m off on call/reserve for the next 3 weeks apart from 1 shift so I’d really like to shift a bit before I go back to work.

Just eating healthier and exercising - I can’t be too extreme as used to have an ED and I find it triggering.

Will weigh in tomorrow as haven’t weighed for a few days so might be a little up or down.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 19/04/2020 08:32

Day two - here is the plan for today.

Mindset: (Lean Minded by Mike Howard)
Leave behind your past dieting experiences, your fears, your hope, and your anger.

Pick up a commitment to your health and
a belief that you can influence the outcome
and an attitude that you will keep going despite setbacks.

Meals:
B. Oatbran porridge and raspberry sauce
L. Seafood bouillabaisse plus wholemeal roll
D. Tuna Steak pesto and green beans
S. Apple and peanut butter

Movement: Workout 2/100 of Morning Meltdown - strength

On Monday I am going food shopping.

From Tuesday I am going to do three days of the Attack Phase of the Dukan diet because my book arrived yesterday. I am torn between absolute yuk and lets give it a whirl - its time-limited. Not forever.

DianaT1969 · 19/04/2020 10:58

I started IF today and will combine with low carb once I do my next food shop. A reminder to all (Dr Jason Fung) that we shouldn't get despondent and give up if we see fluctuations on the scales. It's typically water which fluctuates but the underlying loss of fat continues as we stick to it. I'm going to remember that this time.

HobbsandShaw · 19/04/2020 11:03

Thank you for the welcome. Feeling enthusiastic so today is day one. Weighing in at 9st 12lbs, goal is 9 st. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve weighed that. I am 53 and keen to lose my tummy fat especially.

Not sure of my plan, low carb for sure, run 5k every other day. I have the Louise Parker books, the 5:2 books, the Fast 800 and probably some others. I love fresh veg but I am struggling to get any at the moment. My downfall is wine and crisps.

Isn’t it funny 3 of us are the same weight!

Spudina · 19/04/2020 11:03

Can I join? I don’t know what I weigh as I haven’t get scales at home but I think I’m about 10 and a half stones. I’ve been ‘treating myself’ in lockdown and now all my size 12 clothes are too tight. Yesterday I did day one of a 30 day on line yoga class, 15 mins of Joe Wicks and 15 on my bike (turbo trainer). But then last night I drank nearly a whole bottle of red😩

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 19/04/2020 19:48

@Foreverlexicon - somehow I missed you this morning. We must have been posting at the same time! Welcome and congratulations on the 21lb so far!

@DianaT1969 Hello! and welcome! We have got to take the long view on this. We can do it!

@HobbsandShaw our plans sound quite similar. I do eat quite a lot of frozen veg. I love crisps and cheese. I am definitely more of a salty person than sweet.

@Spudina Hello, welcome to the lockdown lose a stone club!

@Dogwalks2 Hello!

It's great that we are all similar and we have got about a stone to lose. It's not impossible. Other people have done it. We can do it. It's time limited. Not forever! ...I think I am trying to positive talk myself!!

Is everyone daily weighing or weekly on this group? I'm a daily weigher but it's a bit frustrating ATM as I'm stuck at 9.12 as of this morning's weigh in (I'm in Asia btw).
Yesterday I had a very light day of food -scrambled egg and veg for lunch , small portion of red lentil lasagne for dinner with some watermelon. Hoping I'll soon see another small drop. It has taken me slightly over 3 months to drop 2 stone but I think this last 10-12 pounds might take just as long!

Foreverlexicon · 20/04/2020 08:33

I usually weigh every 10 days due to my work schedule but I’m off on call for 3 weeks so going weekly for now.

Down 1.2lb this week to 153.8kb. 140 is my goal but might try and lose a tad more so I have some leeway.

Yesterday was a good day bar some late night snacking. I get bad insomnia when I’m stressed and then I get hungry and I just cannot sleep when I’m hungry. Which is frustrating but I’ve made myself get up at a decent time regardless so hopefully I get a better night tonight.

Yesterday I had;
B - rice cakes with banana and peanut butter
L - Waldorf salad and mango/grapes/apple
D - meatloaf, garlic mash and roasted asparagus.
S - mini snickers
Insomnia snacks - mini snickers and 2 biscuits

I also went for a long ride on the horse, did a 20 min tempo run and level 2 of the 30 day shred.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 20/04/2020 08:53

Hi there,

I am going to weigh weekly on a Saturday because that was the day I weighed myself last week.

@Ploughingthrough you never know your weight loss may continue at a steady pace. Some people are lucky and they just drop a steady pound a week. I think two stone in 3 months is phenomenal.

For me, its more like an engine that needs to warm up and then it goes in fits and bursts. Yesterday I did everything I said I would except for one late night snack of four oatcakes, light Philadelphia and a drop of sweet chilli sauce.

It is really good to get ideas of what everyone else is eating and doing for exercise. @Foreverlexicon your exercise yesterday looks like a dream. Horseride! Tempo run! Jillian Michael's there to motivate you into one more press us!

Day three commitments

Mindset: 'I am 100% worthy to work on my health' (repeat!)

Meals:
B: Oatbran porridge and blueberries
L: Chicken breast with broccoli, green beans, cabbage in apple cider dressing
D. Puy lentil and halomi salad
S. Almonds

Movement: 1 hour walk and day 3 of morning meltdown - core

Dogwalks2 · 20/04/2020 11:31

Hi I’ve got 1 stone to go to get down to 9stone, I’d love to be 8 10 but if I can get and maintain 9 I will be delighted.
I’ve just had a weeks holiday so had a bit more wine than normal so hope this week no alcohol will aid my first weeks numbers.
Love reading everyone’s posts.
I walk 5k every day and am going to start running again as I can’t get to the gym obviously.

TeaRose29 · 20/04/2020 11:35

Hi, can I join? This is perfect for me! I lost 18 pounds two years ago using the Dukan diet. It was absolutely brilliant for me, no hunger and worked really quickly. About 7 pounds have crept back on, and I’d now like to lose a stone. Perfect opportunity now as going out for meals is my downfall, plus it is at least one of the few things I can control right now.

Hello and good luck everyone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 20/04/2020 16:16

@Dogwalks2 - me too I would be delighted to maintain 9 stone.

@TeaRose29 - Brilliant! That is a good endorsement for Dukan.

How is everyone doing today?

OP posts:
TeaRose29 · 20/04/2020 16:57

I've had a pretty good day. Am lucky to have a garden so have been sitting outside reading. For breakfast I had Total Greek 0% yogurt which is very filling, with a bit of vanilla extract and Hartley's sugar free jelly. That was at about 11am and I've only just had my "lunch" (at 4.30pm) of quark, 30g cheddar, celery and spring onion.

The cheese isn't strictly Dukan but I don't eat eggs, so I substitute 30g of cheese every day which has about the same amount of fat as 2 eggs, and it doesn't seem to slow down my weight loss.

I think I'll have some salmon for dinner - I've got a mountain of it in the freezer.

I find it hard to give up wine, but I'm going to go AF all week and maybe have a glass or two next Saturday, when we have a Zoom wine-tasting with friends!

Going to watch the update at 5pm then go for an hour's walk with daughter.

How is everyone getting on?

SleepingIsOverrated · 20/04/2020 18:11

I've just downloaded my fitness pal for the first time and have dusted off my treadmill today. I've never been on a diet in my life and I feel so lost but also so down about how I look and feel.... hope you don't mind me joining? I have no motivation right now so I'm hoping to absorb some from you all on here!
