Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Hi everyone, yesterday went to plan other than quite a lot of wine, feel so much better after lots of salad, a week of carbs made me feel dreadful.

B milky coffee
L roast cauliflower and courgettes
D duck and lentils (sm portion)

Squashbanana125 · 26/04/2020 18:52

Evening everyone

Yesterday was not As good as I planned food wise and did have a few chocolates and peanuts while watching Tv. So not a total write off. So I’m learning

However today has been productive. Different day different mindset

B- fast
L- had a chicken salad but a late lunch at 4:30 that was first thing I ate today
D- not too sure but maybe omelette
Snacks Greek yogurt, strawberry’s, fibre 1 bar

Today no walk as rest day. I’m aware the weather isn’t great for rest of week so may look to do something online at home.

Hope everyone else is feeling good and sticking to what they wanted to stick to.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 26/04/2020 20:30

Hi there,

Yes everything went to plan or me today. Although this is really my hardest time. I am a bit of snacker and so I have to just avoid the kitchen.

I really have been feeling so much better because my joints in my hands and my knees usually really hurt.

So I just googled, Keto diet and inflammation and its proven to help inflammation. Who knew? I have always avoided this kind of diet because I equate meat with inflammation. And here I am a week later and feeling better than I have in years.

That's interesting @myohmywhatawonderfulday it's great you're feeling so well.

Well done everyone for sticking to today's plan. Mine went to plan too and the actual bike ride rather than bike-in-garage ride was lovely in the sun.

I've already planned tomo and dh is committed to joining and helping me - he is the worst for bringing crisps and chocolate into the house.... no more!

Going to try a hiit workout tomo too.

Claire5678 · 27/04/2020 08:50

Morning guys, thanks for letting me join!
My plan today is
B 2 eggs and a slice of toast with no butter
L baked potato with tuna and salad
T chilli con carne with veg instead of rice

Exercise a crossfit workout from our gym who are giving us remote workouts and maybe a family walk if we find time.

Hope everyone has as good a day as can be managed in circumstances!

HobbsandShaw · 27/04/2020 09:10

Morning, yesterday went to plan for me too and I did 5k on the cross trainer. Going to have a veggie day today. 1st of May on Friday!

yukka · 27/04/2020 09:23

Morning all, my daily plan is
B protein shake
L chicken and spinach salad
D veg tacos
S haed boiled egg, apple

20 mins HIIT and long walk with the pram.

Gosh may on Friday already?!

Foreverlexicon · 27/04/2020 10:10

Bit grumbley as was weigh day today and I’ve stayed the same.
Not entirely surprised, I’m due on and am noticeably bloated and had good and bad days last week. Even with the exercise, not being at work means I’m much less active.

Just need to plug on.

Meals today;
B - banana pancake with berries
L - soup with ryvitta or cheese omelette (not sure if the soup is still good!) and salad
D - beef hash with veg and potatoes
S - yoghurt
E - going to attempt shred level 3 and ride the horse.

HobbsandShaw · 27/04/2020 10:16

Foreverlexicon a couple of days before my period I gain 3 lbs and it vanishes again when my period ends, every single month. I think it’s fairly common to gain at this time of the month so try not to let it get you down, staying the same is good.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 27/04/2020 10:54

Hi guys, I am so pleased that people's plans are all going so well - one day at a time people! One day at a time!

I have read that if you commit to a plan you are more likely to stick to it than if you keep a food diary of what you ate. It's also very happy when dh's get on board too. I won't tell you what DH is eating for a mid morning snack but I have had to retreat to the living room!!

Day 10 commitments

Motivation: Remind yourself that this is a long and bumpy road and the only way through is consistency over the long run.

  • A bit of a reality check and tough love from Mike Howard this morning!

Meals:
B Greek yogurt, ricotta, nutmeg and stevia (already eaten)
(I am such a creamy person - I love this breakfast. Ricotta is my new favourite protein!!)
L Oatbran galette and cottage tuna with jalapeno peppers
D Chicken soup
S Diet strawberry coke

Movement
Morning Meltdown - Flow/stretch - already done

We are going to skip homeschooling today and work as a family to clear and re-organise the shed. I think its going to be equally educational - ordering, sorting, PE and conflict resolution!!!

Happy Monday everyone!

Yes stay positive @Foreverlexicon you could well have lost overall when period is gone, stick with it.

Just did the online hiit class, flipping heck it was all legs, don't think I'll be able to walk tomorrow!

I didn't eat after 5pm last night, and I felt better for it this morning. I'm debating another shake for lunch instead and use this as a fast day ( so I stay under 500 calories till 5pm today= 24hrs) but not sure I should change my plans on the fly. Any thoughts..? I feel like I should do it, it's only 6 hours and I'd have 400 calories to use - shake, apple and boiled egg. Tacos as planned for dinner.

HobbsandShaw · 27/04/2020 11:35

I say go for it yukka. When I feel properly in the swing of this diet I will switch to one meal a day (dinner), I have never been a snacker but love a big generous plate of food.

TeaRose29 · 27/04/2020 13:07

Hello Everyone!

I'm feeling pretty good today. Have had a lovely walk this morning, and will do a HIIT/weights session with my daughter later on. Back on Dukan with an Attack day today:

B = Total 0% Greek yogurt, SF jelly
L = chicken, salt beef, bresaola, quark with spring onion and chives stirred in
D = not sure yet, probably more of the same

@myohmywhatawonderfulday I love creamy things too! That's why I can do Dukan, I love the yogurt and quark. Where do you get diet strawberry coke? I've never heard of that!

Have a good day everyone!

Mimilondon39 · 27/04/2020 14:32

Hi guys
Well done on your losses. I am also trying to lose around 10lb but finding it really hard to get motivated in lockdown while trying to homeschool, work and run the house. I’m pretty active even now and love healthy food but struggling to keep off the wine and chocolate! I signed up to WW but don’t think it will work for me as I eat quite a lot of fruit and they don’t count it on there. Does everyone else use My Fitness Pal? I find I can stick to that easily in the week but weekends are harder...any help appreciated!

Squashbanana125 · 27/04/2020 19:05

Days just seem to be flying by don’t they!

Think it’s day 6 and going very well start at 10.5 and today I am down to 10.2 - so a 3 lbs loss.

Today
B fast
L omelette with cheese spring onion spinach and bacon lardons
D- salmon with chilli and spring onion and nice big salad with beetroot and gerkins
Snacks, yougurt and fibre1 bar.

Today I aim to eat from 1pm to 8pm only. Lots of squash and green tea.

Weirdly I don’t feel like I’m 10’2 but last few day’s I’ve not managed any exercise. That will help I think

Glad to see everyone still on track.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 27/04/2020 20:50

Hi there everyone!

Squashbanana125 3lbs is fantastic!! I am really pleased for you! Yukka, I agree with HobbsandShaw and I also think if you are in the groove then keep going.

TeaRose29 I am so glad you are on attack - dukan buddy! I got the coke just in my local little shop. It's called twisted strawberry and I really liked it. I also had vanilla diet coke the other day and that almost almost tasted like the real thing!

Hi Mimilondon39, welcome! It might be worth trying ww to see if it works for you. As you can see on this thread, we are not eating a lot of food, and so if there is any way you can see if you can lose weight eating more..I would really try that first!

For me, what is helping me stay on track:

  • This thread is helping
  • having the time to plan, shop and cook
  • having a plan with actually quite tight boundaries has helped me
- starting an exercise programme on Beach body on demand and this one is for 100 days in a row.

So I have printed out table of 100 days and I tick them off when I do a work out. That is helping me visually see a streak. I also do my exercise when I get up, and have pushed homeschooling back later , so that I do my thing first.

  • Avoiding the kitchen!

Ummm that's all my top tips so far!

Claire5678 · 27/04/2020 21:36

Day 1 managed,
B 2 eggs and a slice of toast
L baked potato with tuna and salad
D chilli con carne, green beans and rice
S a bag of 100 cal crisps and 2 minstrels (30cals)

Working from home with both kids today and was so knackered by the time they went to bed I did no exercise today. Will try tomorrow!

Mimilondon39 · 28/04/2020 09:29

Thanks so much for your advice yes will give WW a go today. Sounds like you are all doing really well - I’m super impressed by the restraint of just having two minstrels! Exercise has fallen by wayside for me as between homeschooling/ working and feeding everyone there’s not a lot of time but I am running up and down the stairs a lot so that will have to do for now. Might try and fit a couple of (slow!) jogs in later in the week. Miss my old dance classes! First world problems I know.

HobbsandShaw · 28/04/2020 09:48

I am spending a lot of time cooking too, and helping kids log onto lessons at 8.30 am, print out homework, supervise homework. It’s lovely having everyone home but tiring, really struggling to find the 45 mins to exercise and shower.

I am having roast chicken dinner today. Will probably just have one meal today and try to avoid the potatoes. Did a sneaky weigh in and I have lost 1/4 lb. Go Hobbs!

Claire5678 · 28/04/2020 09:50

Haha mimi I know each minstrel is 15calories so I allowed myself two, I find keeping them in the freezer works because each one takes longer to eat. Or perhaps I've just gone mad! I'm also finding it hard to fit in exercise with working from home/ two kids/ all the cooking (!), so rubbish missing fun classes I agree!

myohmy that's such a good idea to have a table! I like things like that, might try and copy that idea!

squash 3lbs is brilliant!

I have no tips, the only thing that works for me is calorie counting because I like having treats too much Blush so I programme my meals the night before into myfitnesspal and then allow 200 calories ish for snacks.

Today's plan
B - 2 boiled eggs and a slice of toast (no butter)
L - baked potato with 1/2 tin of tuna and salad (1tbsp low fat mayo)
T - breaded fish fillet with lots of broccoli (2tbsp low sugar ketchup)

Hoping to fit in some exercise today since I did not manage yesterday but already work is piling in, husband working out the house and kids driving each other (and me) mad so will see what the day brings!

Foreverlexicon · 28/04/2020 11:14

I didn’t do so great yesterday. Lots of chocolate happened.
I’ve decided to start calorie counting. I’m so sedentary at the moment beyond seeing the horse and the odd bit of exercise.

So new goals until I go back to work;

  • daytime calorie limit of 1350
  • up to 200 extra calories incase of an insomnia episode as frankly if I’m awake until 4am....I get hungry!
  • only eat when hungry (prev when calorie counting I used to eat just because I could if I had extra calories but this time I will save any not eaten for a treat at the end of the week)
  • 4 workouts a week, aim to ride the horse 6 days a week (bit of flexibility if bad weather, hate riding in the rain and she doesn’t need to be fit at the moment, it’s more to get me out the house)

1350 is def on the low side for me but I’m usually pretty active at work whereas I’ve had days recently where I haven’t hit 1000 steps lately! I’ll increase it when I go back to work.

OhCobblers · 28/04/2020 11:35

I despair 😩
I'm exercising like mad. I'm eating well and under 1000 calories and gained a pound today !!!!!!!

BUT my legs are very toned!!!

Seeing the lbs come off the scales makes such a difference to me!

HobbsandShaw · 28/04/2020 13:14

That’s maddening OhCobblers, what about going on measurements? I dream of a 30 inch waist and check every so often. Are your clothes any looser?
